Why do it have to be such a big deal because Mrs. Obama is an African-American? We are women too. Just as other women status in life are diverified so is the African American women. We are Americans too. So why not one of us live in the white house as the first lady of this nation

I sincerly doubt that any black woman can be a modle for any white woman--the attitude, and the arrogance doesn't translate very well into our behavior patterns or value systems.

I'm a white woman, and I choose my role models based on content of character, not color of skin (to paraphrase a great black man who should be everyone's role model). Michelle Obama has shown that she, along with her husband, can raise two lovely, well-mannered children in the eye of a media hurricane, all the while showing herself to have great intelligence (Princeton and Harvard law, hello?!?), grace, wicked style, and a great sense of humor. A well-rounded modern woman: that's my kind of role model!

Very nice comment, peony..thank you. Btw, the peony is my favorite flower. Lovely scent.

Your comment suggests Black Women cannot be role models for White Women because we ALL are arrogant and have attitudes. After reading several of your comments, I've observed your negative "behavior pattern" and questioned your "value system." What kind of values do you have that allow you to perpetuate negative stereotypes and not acknowledge ANY positive qualities in Black Women?

You madame are extremely STUPID. There is just no other way to respond to something as inane as this. Please just go away! and please please just promise not to breed as your kind has to die out!

Nah, Michelle is not a whiner..now you, most def. a whiner.. you go on and on andcomplain about Michelle..read your own post and see if you don't agree,

Thank you very much..I don't want my grandkids and great grandkids to have Michelle Obama as a role model. Our family has always been very proud of being Americans and really don't need the teachings of a woman who hasn't been proud and who listened to the preachings of Reverend Wright for 20 years..think that if her husband wins, she better sit back and shut up.if she can!

    • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/03/2008 1:56:32 PM

Beach Mom, I'm curious....were you and your family proud of America during the time of segregation, before the Civil Rights movement, when women were not allowed to vote, when folks who stood up for equality were beaten, killed, or jailed? OR, when the US govt instigated a false plot to lead our troops into Vietnam, or when our troops and dollars were lead into Iraq on doctored CIA reports?

Just curious...........were you proud of all of that? Or, were you one of the ones who stood up and said, "this is wrong, I disagree w/ what my government is doing." ?

KBoogie - I, like many Americans am the child of immigrants who didn't come to this country until the 1960s. So tell me, why should I be punished for slavery? It's wrong, it's abhorrent and I don't condone it, but come on now, it was more than 200 years ago! If we are ever going to move forward as a country, we have to move on - learn from our mistakes and move on. Stop repeating them, stop reveling in them, just move on and make things better. Somehow, I don't think this is what Dr. King had in mind. What I have read says that Dr. King was an honorable man, with a peaceful agenda. He had the dream, and he had the means to make it happen, and peaceably. People like Obama, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are an insult to Dr. King. I don't believe this is what he had in mind. Obama and his America-hating wife have done more to stoke racial tensions in 21 months than what has been done over the last 10 years. If Obama were an honorable man, with integrity, that truly loved his country and had its best interests at heart, I would have campaigned for him. But he, and his nasty wife are scary people. They will destroy this country with their socialist ideals. Obama said, "The civil rights movement didn't go far enough because it didn't call for the redistribution of wealth?" Run for your lives people. You're about to lose everything so Obama can give it to people who want to sit on their butts. Run. Fast!

        • Posted By: denmill @ 11/03/2008 7:08:15 PM

AMEN! You could not have said it better. I was not born in the 1960's therefore, I cannot blame white people for slavery. Besides like you so well expressed it, it has been over 200 year ago. I am a black woman and I cannot stand Michelle Obama. She comes accross very arrogant and very hateful. Leftists wants to compare her to Jackie O. She is no Jackie O., she truly lack the tact and the humility that made Jackie O. so so special. She come across like a mad woman, who controls her husband every moves. By the way I will not be voting for Barack Hussein Obama. He is all talk and no substance. I will vote for the candidate that I value his core belief. I do not beleive in Barack Hussein Obama's communist rhetorics (wealth distribution). I do not believet hat all white people are evil. I love my country and has always been proud of it. I do not want to vote for someone who is willing to seat down and talk to our enemies without any precondition. I do not feel safe with a Barack Hussein Obama in the White House due to his associations, from Ayers, to Jeremiah Wright, to Flegher, to convicted criminal,Syrian-born Tony Rezko, to his childhood mentor, communist writer and poet Frank Marshall Davis, to his fellow Kenyan tribesman Raila Odinga, Muslim seeking to expand Islam in Kenya and who Barack Hussein obama suported in 2007, to his Pro-Palestinian Rashid Khalidi, former member of the PLO, and co-founder of the radical and anti-Israeli, pro-Palestinian Arab American Action Network (by the tape is still a mystery, allison, please call for the release of the tape by your leftist friends from the LA Times). You see why as a proud American, who happen to be black, I have to say NOBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Posted By: bwlear @ 11/03/2008 4:48:15 PM

And while your running, why dont you take Canadian, Rocky, and the rest of the crew with you. Good by and good ridence! For 8 years we have supported this country while the people YOU voted for drove it to the brink of failure. And now, like the spoiled children you are, when the election is not going your way, you want to "cut and run". Really says alot about how much your "love of this country" B.S. really means.

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/03/2008 2:22:06 PM

No, you shouldn't be punished for slavery--no one should. It's dead and gone. What you should be aware of, though, is that racism is still very alive and well in this country. Look at McCain supporters hanging likenesses of Obama, look at the Jena Six, go to any small town in America and listen for a few minutes...the racial slurs will amaze you. Not only are blacks discriminated against, but so are Hispanics. A very dear co-worker of mine came from Cuba in the 60s, 15 days before the Bay of Pigs. She was 12 and has been a citizen for longer than I've been alive. She speaks perfect English with a hint of an accent...as soon as people hear her accent they treat her differently. It's sad. So to everyone that's saying Obama has opened the wounds of racism...no, he hasn't. He's just encouraged us to take a look at our very nasty past that has yet to be resolved. It will never be resolved until we can open up and talk honestly about it. MLK I believe would be very proud of Obama for trying to do this in a frank, open way--a peaceful hopeful way.

          • Posted By: 4carol @ 11/03/2008 4:30:46 PM

SUMMER: You are absolutely right!!! Racism in this country will never get to be closed to resolved by sweeping it under the rug or hiding it in the closet!!! To move forward as a country, the world is watching to see how we handle the possible 1st time African/American in the white house. The rest of the world laughs at us as a nation for these issues which are NOT issues in the rest of the world!!! We need to expand our Americanism so that we once more are respected!! Not limit it, so that we look like spoiled children who need a spanking because they won't try to get along!!!! I only have to say "GROW UP" or we will never be ONE NATION, BUT ONE DIVIDED which only works to our detriment!!!

        • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/03/2008 2:33:22 PM

I didn't speak of "punishment" for anyone. It seems you want to discuss a different issue, altogether...which is fine.

BUT, my question was, "were you proud of America" during each of the times that I stated? Let's tackle that one first. Thanks.

      • Posted By: 4carol @ 11/03/2008 4:21:34 PM

        WAY TO GO, KBOOGIE!!!!!

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 11/03/2008 1:42:16 PM

What's interesting about that is ... they will. And they will be proud of her. They will reject the lies you believe, and will love the people you hate. It's the way of time.

Incidentally, I am a southern white man, and literally an Eagle Scout. I haven't always been proud of America. I wasn't proud when all of you pride-first Americans told me I hated America because I suggested that our government was lying to us about WMD in Iraq. I wasn't proud when we bombed and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians rather than using "overwhelming force" as our best and brightest warriors advised. I wasn't proud when we sold WMD to Saddam Hussein and asked him to keep killing Iranians. I wasn't proud when Israel bombed the Liberty, killing US sailors, and we covered it up. I wasn't proud when my fellow southerners literally massacred all of the blacks in certain towns.

But I guess you were proud of that, and apparently much more. Because there is much, much more that has been done in our name for which no one should be proud.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

I know that Joe W. is not the first man who is behind on his taxes. I am very sure he is not the first person to ever have his license revoked for unpaid fines. Just because the man asked a question of a presidential candidate and they dragged him into this fray he is being criticized by small minded people. Many US residents are a paycheck away from being without a home, to pay off a bill etc. I would definetly put food in my families mouth before I paid my taxes or paid a parking violation. Does that make me a bad person? I pay my taxes and my bills but that's not to say that I don't struggle. If you haven't walked in someone's shoes DON'T CRITICIZE. Let those without sin cast the first stone.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/03/2008 8:43:48 AM

Exactly. Joe shouldn't have criticized Obama when he knew very well he had skeletons in his closet. Kind of stupid if you ask me.

        • Posted By: GOODBYETOAMERICA @ 11/03/2008 7:03:47 PM

ACTUALLY ....HE DESERVES CREDIT FOR ASKING A LEGITIMATE QUESTION. HE DOES NOT DESERVE THE TREATMENT HE HAS RECEIVED FOR APPARENTLY 'BOTHERING" OHBOMBA.
SO EVERYONE BE PREPARED........IF YOU ASK THE WRONG QUESTION, OR SAY ANYTHING THAT TH E OHBOMBA BUNCH DOESN'T LIKE....YOU WILL BE SILENCED IF POSSIBLE, IF NOT THEN HARRASSED. CENSORSHIP AND SECRECY....ON THE WAY WITH THE OHBOMBA MAN.

        • Posted By: MeLizzard2 @ 11/03/2008 9:01:45 AM

He didn't "criticize". He asked an honest question, got an ugly answer, analyzed the response, and called a spade a spade. Dems can't handle truth terribly well.

As an American fisrt, and black woman second, I do not see Michelle Obama as a role model. Someone who they have to coach in order to be appealing to voters. Someone who is not proud to be an american in spite of all the opportunities that America has given to her. Please, get a hold of yourself and stop showing the true leftist liberal that you are. Thois is your last attempt to convince people to vote for Obama. Michelle Obama is nothing than a typical angry black women, who is rigth now wearing make up so the American people Black and White, and Brown, and Yellow, cannot see her true color. Remember that she was the one who introduced Barack Hussein Obama to his GOD DAMNED AMERICA so called pastor "the devilished Jeremiah Wright". Remeber that she was the one who allow her kids to seat in that churc all of their lives since she and Barack Hussein Obama were actively involved in that church for 20 years. Remember that she was the first one to be the friend of the terrorist and his terrorist wife "The Ayers". Remember that she was good frient with the Rezko (con artist). Why don't you talk about that Allison Samuels. Michelle Obama may be your role model, but not mine. I was always be taught to love my country. So tomorrow as a black woman, I am proud to tell you that I will cast my vote for the true "American Hero" the own that has always been proud to be an American, the one that has the scars to proud it "John S. Mc Cain".

      @denmill:

You are either not black or totally unaware of your history. Anyone who has visited the history of African Americans knows what Michelle Obama meant. While you are listing associations, I noticed that you did not refer to Keating, Liddy, AIP or Troopergate abuse of power findings, Adultery, Drug addiction and others. You have the right to vote for the party of your choice. However, when you limit yourself to only looking at one side, you miss out on a lot. Good luck with McCain/Palin.

I am sorry that you feel that I am not black just because I have chosen to be patriotic. Let me give you the secret! I was raised by a proud an fairly succesful father and a stay at home mother who inserted in me the proud sentiment to love my country and always put my country first. I was always taught not to blame others for my problems. I was taught to stand up tall and take care of my own needs and to never look down on my country. I have heard all the name calling before because as a child my family did choose to dress appropriately and use our manners. I have have been called by even some black friend of being too "white" just because I have always refused to follow the norm. Here is another secret that may truly change your life and get ride of your anger: "we are all in charge of our own destiny, it has nothing to do with the color of your skin, we are alol born with it, it is up to us as "human beings", to choose to always stand for something and to the right thing".

        • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/03/2008 1:21:11 PM

You do know that McCain voted AGAINST the Civil Rights platform in 1990, voted AGAINST the Equal Pay Act for women, voted AGAINST the removal of the Confederate flag in SC (actually called it a symbol of the South's heritage), voted against the MLK holiday? Don't you? A "true patriot"???....I think NOT.

A true patriot fights for the EQUALITY of ALL Americans.

I think McCain's vision of how he wants America to look is very clear. NO THANKS!!!!

          • Posted By: denmill @ 11/03/2008 6:17:20 PM

He is entitled to vote for whatever he wishes to do. This is not communist China.

            • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/03/2008 7:01:21 PM

Of course he can. But, don't we judge politicians by thier voting platforms?

Don't we base the future of ourselves and America on the visions of those WE vote for?

So, knowing McCain's voting record on these issues of equality and justice, do you still think his intention is to fight for ALL Americans? Would you still call him a patriot? Just curious.

You sound like a very young woman - whose father reaped the benefits of affirmitive action. I am glad that your mother was a stay at home type mother - and I think she did and taught you more than to be rude - My father taught me that 'if you keep your mouth shut' people will not learn how stupid you are. I bet you wish you were born like Cindy McCain - into millions LOL - And I bet that you have never had the love of a 'true' man - because your speak very bitter about another woman. Sistahs (and I mean the female gender) need each other - we do not need people tearing us down. If ever there was an elitist - you could possibly fit that description. But, with out anger or hatred - I pray for you 'young' black sister - you have so much to learn - may someone come into your life's journey and share 'truth' with you. Show your postings to your father/mother - see if being black they say "Well done"

Please go away. You give not only blacks, but HUMANS an incredibly horrible name. It suits you that you would vote for McCain. Their campaign is made up of anger, delusions and hate. You fit the bill perfectly.

          Now please, go away.

Thank you, it is too bad that everyone else only sees what they want and really havent opened thier eyes. I would hate to think that after they are in the white house and have REALLY shown thier true colors that the american people will see that the hype was just that. HYPE.

    • Posted By: jazielady @ 11/03/2008 11:46:19 AM

You are possibly a voter/citizen under the age of 40 yrs. Each generation has lived through different times in the history of American. Were you born during the time of lynchings in the South - do you remember the dogs and the water hoses - my dear reader - you have missed the point - and if you are making your comments from 'snippets' of Rev. Wright's comments - you are not being fair to yourself - you need to take things in the 'complete' context - and not take a few words to make an 'intelligent' comment. My mother served in the United States Army - she is 85 yrs of age- and the stories she tells of not being able to get off of the train - when traveling through the South, with the rest of her troop - and her food brought back to her in a bag - you might be able to understand some of the feelings of the older African American population. All has not been given - much has been earned - but when the mind is closed and the eyes and ears are not part of the make up of 'a few' we will always be at odds. Grow up - The slaves that were carried here were as proud of the 'small' piece of America that was issued out - But this is a new day - and there is a new group of 'educated' people who can think on their own - after they do their research - that is how you come to an intelligent opinion - Please grow up and don't be spoon fed - As they say if you don't stand for something - you may fall for anything

      • Posted By: denmill @ 11/03/2008 6:30:13 PM

I do respect your opinion. However, what you have just described to me is the past. It is a new day now. You must think for yourself and don't try to speak for black people as a whole. We black American need to move on. Stop looking backwards!!!!!!

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 11/03/2008 11:23:46 AM

Vote for whomever you wish. It's just sad to see that you justify it based on lies (in addition to service).

I've watched the "God Damn America" sermon *in full*. Except for the salty language, it's no different than the Christian message I grew up with, and no different than anything the Moral Majority ever said. Sure, we were outraged by their language too - but the *message* is correct and appropriate within the world view of most Christians. That message is this: if you go against God, you lose. It's just that simple.

Of course, most of us don't believe lesbians caused the destruction of New Orleans, and most of us don't believe that God whipped Katrina up special.

      But the message remains.

      • Posted By: eagle575 @ 11/03/2008 11:34:24 AM

are you ever deluded. the language in that sermon was fit for a mosque, not a church. and i doubt you heard the entire message if you claim it's the same thing you grew up hearing in church. no church i know ever spoke like that. neither did the moral majority. all that group attempted to do was give a voice to people who believed in traditional values, like marriage, mom and dad raising the kids-not the government, and such.

        • Posted By: rogerhall @ 11/03/2008 11:39:07 AM

The Moral Majority laid every tragedy that occurred in America at the feet of "sinners". They proclaimed long and loud how God Would Destroy America. I grew up watching the 700 club. It's not like I don't know.

You might try to listen to the message instead of the words. See the forest, not the trees. Just a suggestion.

          • Posted By: catspaw @ 11/03/2008 1:40:03 PM

Sounds like you read the Bible hear the message and not the words. Amazing what it has to say, isn't it?

You should be ashamed of yourself. You have obviously had your eyes and mind closed for a long time. With all the injustices commited towards Black Americans you spout off the racist rhetoric that we have had to contend with for eons. Either you are not Black or so brainwashed until you cannot see through the lies of McCain. He does not think of you as being important, does not believe in equal pay for equal work, your right to choose and wants to continue the same failed policies. As far as Jeremiah Wright is concerned - just because he says something does not mean everyone in his church agrees with him. You are supposed to have a brain and be able to think for yourself. Barack Obama was 8 years old when Ayers was running around and bombing sites in the U.S. They sat on the same Education Committee- that's all. As far as being a war hero, getting shot down and held prisoner for 5 years DOES NOT QUALIFY HIM TO BE PRESIDENT. Also, one last suggestion. LEARN TO SPELL!

      • Posted By: denmill @ 11/03/2008 12:03:23 PM

Remeber, I was taught to stand tall and do the right thing. Unfortunately as an American first and a black woman second, I cannot vote for Barack Huseein Obama and be part of the herd that will vote for him just because he is black. let's turn it around, how would you call a white person that will vote for someone just because that person is white. In my family, I would call that white entity "A RACIST PIG". So you should be ashamed to be a racist pig if you vote for a man just because he is black. You should be ashamed of yourself, not me. I have stood true to my belief and I am voting my conscience, not my emotion. i have voting for a "TRUE AMERICAN HERO'" John S. Mc Cain, who just happen to be white. And yes! I will be voting against Barack Hussein Obama, "a man whose communist rhetorics I DO NOT TRUST", who just happen to be biracial. Here is the truth, you should be ashamed of yourself to see it differently. So go vote your conscience!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think McCain's vision of how he wants America to look is very clear. NO THANKS!!!!

denmill -- you, as a Black woman (second, of course), should be insulted by the very profound implication of your own comment. That is, "be a part of the herd that will vote for him just because he is black." First, you insult the INTELLIGENCE and political savvy of MOST of the Blacks who are supporting Barack Hussein (his very PROUD middle name) Obama, by implying that but for his color, we would not vote for him. Forget that other Blacks, i.e., Chissolm, Jackson, Keyes, Sharpton, etc., have run for president and did not secure an even comparable percentage of the Black votes or Black support in the primaries or general elections that Senator Obama has received. Besides, how many past presidents (all of whom were white, in case you forgot) would never have seen the Oval Office had it not been for the Black vote -- votes after which they actively and vigorously sought? So, why is a function of RACISM for most Black people to flock to vote for an accomplished, brilliant, charismatic, hopeful, morally sound, internationally popular man of hope -- who happens to be Black, too!!? It's an opportunity to great to pass up! But what if he was all those things, but he was white? Would we not vote for him? Of course, we would! How do I know? Because we've had our entire voting history to vote for white men. Many of whom, could not hold a candle to the impressive stature of Barack Obama. So, you just go about your mislead way and vote for John McCain. It's your right -- exercise it.

    • Posted By: denmill @ 11/03/2008 6:52:38 PM

You should even be more ashamed of your comment "It's an opportunity to great to pass up! ". What opportunity? To elect a black man? Not for me. I will vote for the candidate that I value his core belief. I do not belive in wealth distribution. I do not belief that all white people are evil, I love my country and has always been proud of it.

    • Posted By: catspaw @ 11/03/2008 12:53:25 PM

Your comment kinda reminds me of Dr. King's speech. I forget the exact words, but I think this is the time the American people are looking beyond the color of one's skin and looking at what is within one's character.

Obama's plan for jobs on Pennsylvania, Virginia , West Virginia , Kentucky, Tennessee, and other states, and Obama's plan for dealing with the high cost of energy, including electricity generation.

An audiotape of an interview Barack Obama did in January 2008 with The San Francisco Chronicle has surfaced in the final days of the presidential campaign. On the tape Obama tells the interviewer, . " so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. . . It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not Pennsylvania? We have seen this before, yes? Something about guns and religion.

And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?

    • Posted By: neos @ 11/03/2008 6:38:54 PM

And why don't you give more of the interview and not a single quote taken out of context? John McCain said 'Fundamentally, I am a deregulator.' In light of the current economic situation, should he be judged on that single quote?
And why is the sky blue?

InformedOne = so for fox news to report accurately and therefor they do not endorse Obama - thats unfair - however cnn, nbc, msnbc etc. who endorsed Obama before they ever knew him and they refuse to report anything about him which would taint his name is fair media - what sort of person are you to call Bill "a clown" when he has spoken the truth - how dare you?
I will not be changing the channel to channels who insist on not reporting correctly - when ever you do research as to everything they report - its always reported incorrectly when its regarding the party they endorse!
Wake up you ignorant idiot - do some research and learn the truth!

Fox made a calculated decision to capture the far right Limbaugh wing of the Republican party. The problem is that it suceeded and is now stuck with a dying audience of ranting curmudgeons. Instead of facts their 'journalists', such as Billo the Clown and Sean Hannity spend their time trying to connect dots through sleazy innuendo supported by the flimsiest facts. Mainstream equals normal. If you distrust the naormal press than you are by definition paranoid. Seek help immediately.

If you're getting all your information from one station, not researching and not thinking for yourself, then you're not "fair and balanced". That makes you biased and unstable. Therefore. . . . . . YOU are the idiot !!!!!

I can't wait for the world to see just how incredible a black woman can be. Oprah changed the world - I can't wait to see what Michelle will do - think Camelot 2008. The USA finally grows up and looks up to a strong woman with dignity and grace. We have a very racially mixed family and I have long admired black women for their faith and strength. As a white middle aged woman, they have long been my role models and mentors. Think Maya Angelou. It's a new day, ya'll. Time to take off the fear & prejudice and move into a better day. God Bless the Obamas for taking this courageous step for a stronger USA.

    • Posted By: Hewalkswithme @ 11/03/2008 6:30:35 PM

You people are so racist. What does it matter whether she is black or white. There are many great white and black women. Oprah is a wonderful person, a little strayed in some of her thinking sometimes and is only listened to as much as she is because she has alot of money. Take the money away from Oprah or Obama and neither one of them would be anything. Of course, thats seems to be how it is these days. Sad but true. Money does get you about anything you want if you have the money. Basically, the bottom line is if Obama wins the election, the bottom line is , it was because he bought the election because he had the most money to spend. Funny thing is, if he was claiming to be white, he would've have never even came close to where he is. And he knew that too. Deception is a scary thing. Especially when you do your best to make it look good, even when all the evidence that it is not good is right in front of everyone's eyes and available for them to see. He said many racist and derogatory things in his 2 books and things that also attached him to the very people he denies being a part of, and about the very country that he supposedly loves so much now. He'd probably run the other way if he actually had to stand up and fight for his country.

Thank you for your concern! However, I am well regarded and often have ~100 people at my house for parties. In fact, we just had a great time Friday night, where my dishes were a highlight of the evening (and my tequila all but disappeared).

The trick is to use an acid to cut the fattiness (without completely removing the fat, because frankly, nothing feels better on the tongue), and don't skimp on the tequila! My favorite is Herradura Anejo.

On Saturday, my close group of friends came over for the game (about 12-16 depending on who has what-else planned). We won! Thanks for asking! It was great!

But ya know, Sunday I just stayed at home with my wife and three wonderful children. Perhaps that was the day you peaked in my window?

Not to worry! Feel free to come by next Friday!

As Teddy Roosevelt said "We can have no "50-50" allegiance in this country. Either a man (or woman) is an American and nothing else, or he is not an American at all. " Why do people of black ethnicity continue to refer to themselves as African-Americans when they have little to no affiliation with Africa? How many generations does Michelle Obama have to go back in her family before an ancestor actually came from Africa? Why can't she just be a proud American rather than a proud African American?

    • Posted By: rogerhall @ 11/03/2008 6:22:25 PM

We are all American, but there isn't one type of American. That would fascism.

It's ok that we are different and have different (and even competing) interests. Our diversity is our strength.

  • Posted By: Charm08 @ 11/03/2008 6:17:35 PM

The Obama message of change and not focusing on the same ol' same ol' has been missed by some of the commentors. A lot of time has been spent in this country on issues of race and quite frankly (with the exception of a few) we are all struggling financially, jobs are hard to come by for everyone, we are all breathing the same polluted air , worrying about keeping a roof over our heads and making sure that we can afford healthcare and a decent education for our children. The Obama message has been clear from the beginning; that we all face these issues regardless of race, religion or whatever and we all need a leader that understands these concerns and will attempt to address them for the bulk of society and not just for large businesses and hope that the benefits will trickle down. I voted for Obama because for me he represents the best candidate based on what I feel is important. Yes as a black female I am proud to have had the opportunity to vote for him, but I did not vote for him because of his race. He was able to overcome a difficult childhood and has been able to live the American dream, not because of some birth right but because he worked for it. I feel his wife also represents the same story. Her parents worked hard to provide their children with the best opportunities that they could offer. She has always presented as dignified but still very real and she would make an excellent first lady!

  • Posted By: jazzynights @ 11/03/2008 6:16:51 PM

As a black woman you speak of, I am personally sick of articles like these. In your flurry of generalizations you remind me of those who said Obama wasn't black enough, or he better do something for black people. There are plenty of black women role models who are well-spoken, intellectual, and ambitious. In order to stop the soft bigotry of low expectations when you are breaking boundaries, you have move on. If you are as surprised by your success as the people who doubted you, you will not be able to get past it. You will live holding on to artificial limitations you that you have set yourself. As a black woman it is nice to be able to identify with someone represents the country, who may have came from a similar background. But as that same black woman I refuse to believe "she could be a real-life role model for black women" any more than any other black woman who is not in her position yet still defies negative stereotypes of black women. Speak for yourself. Limit your own achievements. Whatever ever you do, just stop writing these awful op-ad pieces that try to represent or speak for the black race ---white writers included.

to all you people who think voting for a president of USA is all about race, color and bluff - well you better educate yourselves tonight by listening to fox news who brings truth to the table about BOTH candidates and will explain to you in TRUE detail as to why Obama is most definately NOT ready to president and in short - its because he has absolutely no experience - especially in security for our country and economy - and these 2 issues should be on top of your lists when voting for a candidate not the color /race of the candidate!
CNN< NBC, MSNBC have not portrayed the images of BOTH candidates correctly and have shown an extremely biased view in favor of Obama and only trashed McCain - they have hidden all knowledge people have to know about Obama - they are wrong and should be condemned. They refuse to let the public know or report anything about Obamas friends with terror related people and refuse to admit his policies are much the same as the socialist politics of those in Cuba, Russia, China and Europe - the very same policies ALL of those countries are shying away from and changing from - wake up America and vote for McCain - who will actually lead our country in the right and safe direction!

    Neurotic

People, people... calm down (both sides)... Does anyone here, actually believe that an issue, as complex and as deeply imbedded in psyche of most grown Americans, could or would be honestly dealt with, in this particular forum... I learned that fact, around my 5th or 6th post... Very few people, regardless of political affiliation, aren't willing to............................................... ADMIT THAT THEY ARE WRONG... Do any of you think that an ANONYMOUS BLOG would be any different...

These sites are filled with poli-sci nerds, idiots, hopeless romantics, know-it-alls, introverts, neurotics, bigots, racist, morons and trouble makers (I truly have to appreciate the latter)??? Do you actually think that this Blogs will serve any purpose, other than personal validation and entertainment???

LOOSEN UP!!! DO YOU THINK THAT YOU WILL CHANGE ANYBODIES MIND??? LEARN TO HAVE FUN???

    BOTH SIDES???

Ps If you are on either side, you are suspect??? Try to listen and use some sense, instead of emotion??? You would enjoy your visits, more???

WHETHER THE RACISTS, RED-NECKS OR CRIMINALLY IGNORANT, CAN OR CAN NOT RECOGNIZE THAT OBAMA IS, BY LIGHT YEARS, THE HANDS DOWN, BEST CHOICE (Spiritually, Intellectually and character-wise) then... LEAVE'um BE...

After tomorrow, about 65% of the negative chatter, read here and on other sites, can and will be considered as HATE-SPEECH AND THREATS AGAINST...

    PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK H. OBAMA...

    HAIL-TO-THE-CHIEF!!! :)
