The fact that all these foreign correspondents and other nations are so consumed with "The Messiah" only convinces me that my choice of John McCain for President is correct. I have never understood the left's need to pander or cow-tow to every other nation's whim, seeking their approval like some star-struck adolescent. These people think it's in vogue to be "one" with foreign nations, believing somehow that they possess the wisdom or knowledge that we somehow don't, and who continually play the apologist or appeaser, when dealing with any other nation. Let???s not forget that WE are the world leader. WE must have done something right to get to that status. WE are the country that most want to come to. It is OUR economy that, if we should fail, will have disastrous results for the rest of the world. Why, in God's name, would anyone want us to be more like any other nation, than who we are? Should we NOT be the world's leader? Who would you rather take that slot? China? The fact that these other nations are so enamored with Obama is because they know that he will position this country so that it falls more in line with how these other countries think we should be, rather than what???s best for us. That will only weaken this country. Anyone who believes it???s in our best interest to give up that which has made us who and what we are, needs to pick your favorite foreign country and apply for citizenship. The one nice thing about the USA is that no one will ever force you to stay here; the door swings both ways.

we live in a global world where we are all tied together - we are not cow-towing to anyone - but your narrow minded views that we are the best and only place in this world and the rest of the countries should bow to us - is what has led the world to look at us in disgust (which, I know you do not care). It's sad that people in America actually have the same narrow minded extremist thinking that the terrorists do - interesting that it surrounds itself in the form of those who feel soooo strongly about their religion and ensuring that people think like them instead of having their own viewpoints.

      • Posted By: JSGIUNTA @ 11/03/2008 10:43:47 AM

You know Anthony, you are the kind of liberal to whom I was referring. You equate this country and anyone who professes their patriotism for it, with terrorists, and believe that because we think (I???ve lived abroad, so I actually know) we are the best country on this planet, we are "narrow-minded." Thanks for being predictable and proving my point. Do us all a favor here; look at the last sentence in my post, which you replied to, and follow the directions you find there.

  • Posted By: Travis716 @ 11/03/2008 9:56:20 AM

Man! It is just astounding how far the liberal media feels free to go. Now we have to elect Obama or the whole world won't be proud of us!

This whole race and the media reporting of it reminds me of good old Jimmy Carter. We elected him because of his morals and his promises for change; we thought his lack of experience was a plus. We ended up with arguably the worst president in US history.

I think most of us are going to vote for Obama for the same reasons and goaded on by the same media. I sure hope we get a better president if he is elected. We're already down; we can't afford another Jimmy Carter.

Other countries are watching to see if America is really who we say we are. To see if raciism will raise its ugly head. Meaning that if Obama had the best plan for the economy, war and worlwide issues, the people would rather see that go down the drain than vote for a black intelligent man. The US has lost a lot of respect globally and we are seen as an arrogant bully. It's time to work together with as many countries possibly, to clean our environment up, hep each other and live in peace.

    • Posted By: beannemarie @ 11/03/2008 8:12:28 AM

scc19, yes I agree..IF we had an intelligent black man running for preisdent that did not think it was ok to murder infants and withhold care from infants of botched abortions and did not sit in a "hate whity church" for 20 years and did not rubb elbows with terrorists like Ayres and could produce a valid birth cert. and had more then 180 experience.and worked well with those across the isle...I would vote for him too...but O is not that...NOBAMA

WHAT ABOUT A PRESIDENT THAT KILLS THOUSANDS IN DUMB WARS AND WANTS M.O.R.E W.A.R.S!!!

IF YOU VOTE FOR BUSH/CHENEY YOU ARE FOR ABORTION AND GAYS!

IF YOU BUY CHINA GOODS YOU ARE FOR ABORTION!

WE ARE ALREADY LIVING WITH MONEY BORROWED BY REPUBLICANS FROM A CCOMMUNIST COUNTRY THAT PRACTICES ABORTION! ARE THOSE THE REPUBLICANS VALUES? IS THAT OK? AND YOU WANT TO CONTUNUE?..................

Hate to tell you but Bush isn't running. You must still be in 2004.

Obama is all speech. He has a plan? What plan? It keeps changing. A tax cut for those earning under 250K? No...wait..it's 200K...no wait...150K! No wait..we'll have to wait and see.... BS! He's a sack of wind. Just give me one supported case where our economy has seen any significant growth from "the bottom up?" How ignorant of economics such a principle is. Businesses build economic growth, not governments. Governments regulate that growth and every time they try to interfere with or be the purveyors of economic growth, they screw it up, leading to recession, depression, etc. Jimmy Carter did it, Clinton almost did it, and the Dems who screwed around with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac back in the 90's and again in "05 did it. "Bottom up economics" is just a new name for Socialism and if people think things are troubling now, just wait until Obama and the Dems have total control for two years. Nancy Pelosi? Harry Reid? Barney Frank? Are you kidding me??? Hold on...let me get you Obama lovers out there some more quaaludes...Fashionable doesn't fix problems. Bill Clinton was proof of that. I'm still waiting for Bill and Hillary's promise of fixing Healthcare back in the 90's. Did I somehow miss the memo???

As an American expatriate, I have waited eight long years for the United States to redeem itself and regain its place at the center of the world stage -- and emerge from its bullying shadows.

Electing Barack Obama will be a signal of the return of the rule of law and the respect for justice--both in America and abroad. Obama's election will show the rest of the world that we are not the belligerent, imperalist, nationalistic and xenophobic empire that the Bush administration (with the willing collaboration of a majority of Americans, it must be said) has forced us to become.

Electing Barack Obama will provide a powerful message to the rest of the world that we can be a reasonable, thoughtful world citizen capable of cooperating and sharing the burdens of the 21st century.

And the result of this? I predict a drop in terrorism, and especially in the terrorist threat against the United States. We can set the tone for the coming years -- of peace and reason, versus our eight-year lapsus into belligerence and irrational scorn.

    • Posted By: beannemarie @ 11/03/2008 8:24:04 AM

Ah..but you failed to look at history...it's an historic fact that when the terrorists percieve a preident to be weak (Clinton) thats when the come in for the kill..they learned quickly that they could not mess with Bush...have we been attacked sice 911...you falsely assume that a president taht has nothing but happy words is going to bring the blood thirsty haters of Americans to their knees...how Nieve.......Remember Lincoln..he was a good speaker..and by the way he too was a Republican and he to was not to popular with the people of his day..he wanted to keep the union intact he wanted to end slavery...was he able to do it with all his fancy rhetoric..NOOOO he was only able to do it with Blood....sorry to say it had to be done that way but when your dealing with fanatics there is no other way to get your point across....Do you really want to take that kind of chance with our country knowing that terrorists are just waiting for an opportunity to attack us on a major scale...
as for me I am voting for a true hero, a true American and one that I know will defend this country with his own blood...vote mccain

      • Posted By: cohnny @ 11/03/2008 8:51:32 AM

With your Lincoln remark you really show your true colors. You are no different than your war hawk presidential candidate. I don't know what you think you're going to accomplish with unintelligent comments like the ones you are making.
Clinton didn't have to deal with a terrorist attack on the same scope as Bush so your attempt to draw a parallel there fails. Bush and your republicans were able to push through the Patriot Act and set up the Department Homeland Security, the two reasons we have not seen another successful attack on us to this point, if only because the government takes it's liberties on what it deems legal under the new laws.
John McCain is done defending this country "with his own blood," he might have done it once but now he'll be sipping on a mimosa at one of his 7 homes while sending our troops back into harms way.

      • Posted By: davepullin @ 11/03/2008 8:42:12 AM

Bush was the best thing terrorists could have hoped for. His response to 9/11 and his invasion of Iraq, has multiplied and consolidated the ranks of terrorists around the world. How many people had even heard of Bin Laden before 9/11? Bush made into the ultimate terrorist hero. Stupid religious bigots need stupid religious bigots to fight with. Terrorists would vote for McCain.

  • Posted By: MoreChoices @ 11/03/2008 8:41:36 AM

beannemarie... You are psychotic. You actually think that all our problems lead back to Clinton and the Democrats. They have not been in power for eight years. Welcome to 2008. It is your nonsensical religious views that make you sound so deranged. If you cannot understand that Bush and the republican administration are reponsible for our current situation what can you actually give them credit for? You can barely spell a word correctly. Bush should have made you Secretary of Education.

I am an independent voter in PA and tired of the same ole' politics - I refuse to vote for a republican party that runs it's campaign on fear. The republicans have destroyed this country financially and globally - McSame will make it worse - he will change social security - he will tax you health benefits -
A vote for McCain is a vote for the Same
McCain uses fear to get your vote

A vote for Obama is a vote for Change
Vote like you are the tiebreaker
Vote for Change - we are tired of the same ole' politics
    Vote for Obama

FEAR AND FEAR AND MORE FEAR!!!
Terrorist, Socialist, Communist, un-American, Elitist. Now behind church doors they are saying also: you are going to be CURSED BY GOD! If vote for Obama.....

BUT when McCain was CONFRONTED IN PERSON here are his own words:

Obama is a "decent family man, citizen.................
"He is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared about as President of the United States.......

WE MUST SEND A POWERFUL MASSAGE TO REPUBLICANS THAT FEAR MONGERING AND KARL ROVE TACTICS OF SMEARS, BLASPHEMIES AND LIES WILL NOT W.O.R.K!!!!!!

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE FOR A NEW DIRECTION AND REAL CHANGE IN AMERICA. AMERICA FOR ALL NOT FOR THE FEWS!

  • Posted By: Mooranon @ 11/03/2008 8:40:32 AM

A simple suggestion to those ashamed of the efforts the Unites States has made ion the world stage over the past fifty years: Shut up. The finger-pointing, accusations as to which party is more evil, more linked to Satan, etc. is bullcrap. Simply put: I don't give a crap what the world thinks regarding OUR presidential election. I will not be casting my vote with a nod to the sentiments of Indonesia or Europe or Africa or China or Russia. For the most part ALL of these nations dislike America and what it stands for.

Given an even chance at winning a conventional war, don't doubt that many nations around the world would love to eviscerate the USA and claim the corpse. When you vote, vote FOR your nation, not for another nations approval.

This article is far off. I am an American living abroad who has lived in 4 different countries in my lifetime. The people in other countries are facinated with Obama, but for another reason and it is his 'pop star appeal'. No one on the street in Tokyo or Paris or Berlin can tell you what Obama's policies are. No one can tell you what he stands for. All they can say is that he will bring 'change'. When they see him in the media day after day and hear good things about him, of course they are going to like him and even start to put their hopes in him. But at the end of the day he is just like Micheal Jackson to them. When Michael Jackson goes to Tokyo, people thring the streets and scream for him. They dont care that he molests children. They scream because he sings 'Billie Jean' and does the Moonwalk. It is the same with Obama. They see a young man on TV who speaks well and so they line the streets and scream for him. No one looks deeper and actually asks what how his politics will affect them.

You need to speak to the actual people around you in that case. Or hang out with adults. I can only assume you're part of that expatriate community that tends to avoid true interaction with their hosts. Because the people I know over here know how to read ---one result of the superior educational system one finds in Europe. To reduce large portions of the world to a relative handful of teenyboppers is exactly the sort of narrow Republican ideology that has gotten the United States into the mess it's in.

The world is ripe for change because the world understands the need for change.

case in poing...In Harlem people were asked why they were supporting Obama and they said because of his policies..then they were read a lsit of policies and they all answered yes I believe in all those policies...only thing is they were given a lsit of Mccains policies......so there ya go!!!!!!!

I???m Not an American citizen, there-fore I do know my right NOT to interfere with your right on how you???re going to vote in electing your President. That???s not the Point here for discussion but I do believe that Everyone???s entitle to express his own view and opinion that base on Honesty and Decency as their principles.

I don???t agree with your views on the world???s prospective comment, when you said that the world knows ???Nut??? about America! .Lets me correct YOU, for God???s sake for once please move your head out of Sand .When the poll said only 9% of Americans said that America are in the Wrong Track and I don???t be surprise that you???re one of the few of them. This also validates what already the ???World???s Views???, that???s wrong and happening to USA politics now.

We can agree to be disagree but, please come out with the right Substances principles not What???s Your own Right to be Judge as the only Right that base on Smears, Lies and your Hypocrites substances.

People talk about Obama because they fear what they don't know ,Most of these fears came from post people made up and put on the internet, You should not jump to conclusion till they consider where it came from. As for McCain i would fear him the most , he like's war's , He say's he doen't know about the econcony. and god forbid if something happened to him and we end up with Palin, I am 59 years old and was looking to retire in a few years , That won't happen now , I don't fear Obama , I think he can really help us, God Bless us

Beannemarie - first of all, how can I take your political insight seriously when you don't even know how to spell or use correct grammar?
Secondly, and more importantly, Obama has spent his entire campaign telling Americans what he plans to do to fix the economy, public education, our image abroad, etc. All of these are good ideas, they are not the only good ideas available, but they are good ideas. John McCain, on the other hand, has spent his entire campaign mongering fear and trying to smear Obama while not telling us a single thing about what he wants to do or how he plans to do it. In fact, the only thing we really do know about John McCain is that he voted for Bush's agendas 90% of the time, which is why we're in this mess in the first place. So if you want to continue down this treacherous path towards the destruction of America, by all means vote for McCain. But if you have a brain, it's no on McCain - GO OBAMA!!!

  • Posted By: onyxorb @ 11/03/2008 3:30:50 AM

I hope this time we get it right!!! We need Obama as our next president...we need this change, and the world knows it, everyone else who does not get it... may god help you!!!

    • Posted By: beannemarie @ 11/03/2008 8:33:29 AM

Yes may God help us all because if we elect a president that thinks it's ok to murder infants then we are going to have to suffer the consequences of God not the world..I could care less about what the world says..In fact according to Gods word if God is for us then who can be against us..... then we must be on the right track...cause broad is the way to destruction and narrow is the way to everlasting life....as for me I will follow Jesus!

  • Posted By: MathTeacher1984 @ 11/03/2008 8:32:25 AM

Beannmarie - first of all, how can anyone trust your judgment on important political decisions when you don't even know how to spell or use proper grammar?
Secondly, and much more importantly, what the hell is McCain going to do? Obama has actually told us what he plans to do, and pretty much everything he plans to do makes a lot of sense and would be good for this nation. McCain, on the other hand, has spent his entire campaign trying to smear Obama and completely avoiding the question of what he plans to do to return this country to its rightful position of honor and dignity. In fact, all we really know about McCain is that he's voted with Bush 90% of the time, which is the reason that we've lost that honor and dignity in the first place. So let's use our voices to finally do something smart and put a man in the White House who can actually take this country in the right direction/ Use your brain, no to McCain. GO OBAMA!!!!!

If I were an American and realised one candidate was so favoured by my enemies; I would be rather stupid to vote for that guy wouldnt I?

    • Posted By: ildenizen @ 11/03/2008 8:29:24 AM

Fool. When 98% of the rest of world supports him, you are going to find almost all, allies and those not so inspired by America, in the list of Obama supporters. Go peddle your stupidity elsewhere.

  • Posted By: willienutt @ 11/03/2008 8:26:42 AM

If Mr Obama wins, I predict we will have a LOT of disillusioned people early next year when they discover he just is not able (nor willing) to address THEIR individual interest issues. Just wait until he discovers that no person is willing to live with lower levels of service in health care, etc. in order to finance his extravagant health care plan. US voters are guilty of voting with hearts instead of heads and the result will be a horrible mess.

  • Posted By: Roger Wilco @ 11/03/2008 8:26:29 AM

beannemarie - you come across as an ignorant, low-information voter - oh, i get it, that is you.... The crud you believe and reiterate proves your animosity, ignorance, and hatred for true change. Enjoy the Obama years, maybe the Dems will allot some money so that you can learn to spell; if that is not the real problem, then maybe how to type....

  • Posted By: avg joe25 @ 11/03/2008 8:23:52 AM

I am so happy this is winding down...
At the end of this all, McCain will continue to be the slimy old spite filled, womanizer he always was...
Palin will spent some time swapping the designer labels on her new wardrobe with the old ones she already had and donate the old ones to charity...
    Obama will become the president.
For you and I, our country will enter into a recession later this year and I hope to see some of you folks still commenting on how it could have been had it been for McCain...

The WORLD can see the truth and the whole world CANT BE WRONG!!!

They are not influenced by Fox or Limbaugh or have an interest in their wallet or looking for a corporate welfare handout.

They are not influenced by the political churches set up to brainwash people in the name of religion. People who are so fanatic that cant see that the abortion and gay subject is only brought at election time every 4 years and then forgotten. Bush did nothing in 6 years with full power, no excuses; republicans in power for the last 28 years nothing as well. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three time...double shame on ME! They don t see either that Bush had his girlfriend do an abortion in 1971 and Cheney s daughter is openly lesbian...Hellooooo!!!!!
McCain cheated his wife and lived with Cindy before divorcing for 9 months! WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICAN FAMILY VALUES HERE?

Actually McCain and Obama have the SAME view on:
    - Gays rights
    - Stem research
    - Capital punishment

And by the way McCain WAS pro-choice before and Palin s non-married pregnant daughter DECIDED to keep the child, so there was A CHOICE!!!!
