You have got to be kidding me. First of all, the media continues to push this myth that the rest of the world hates America and George Bush. Yet under President Bush's policies, the rest of the world has repeatedly elected pro-American, George Bush friendly leaders! The countries that do hope for an Obama victory do so only because it will mean a weaker America.

You have no idea do you. While countries may have voted in Bush friendly governments it had nothing to do with America or our liking of Bush. Australia voted Johnny Howard in for year because his party did a good job with the economy not because he had his head up Bush's backside. 94% of Australians where opposed to the Iraq war like the other American allies our people did not support our leaders support of Bush. Unfortunately you live in a world where you think that when people from other countries go to vote they vote thinking about America NEWSFLASH we don't we vote for the issues that face our country. Same as when Johnny was finally voted out it against wasn't because of his love for Bush it was because of Work Choices.

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 11/02/2008 9:34:29 AM

I say, thank God so much of the world is decent enough to blame the Bush administration and not me or you. It seems like most of them recognize that the Iraq War had a lot of opponents from the start, only got more unpopular as time went on, and is now opposed by a majority of our citizenry, and that Bush et. al. have not listened or respected to their countrymen in terms of their war policies. Many of them could have just chosen to hate us en masse instead.

And whoever wants to claim that the rest of the world "does hate us" - end your bitter misanthropic xenophobia. A lot of us are deeply sick of the people who choose to fear and distrust everyone not born in America.

        • Posted By: daisyflower @ 11/03/2008 2:46:03 AM

Thanks TheVigil its great to see some common sense. The world did feel alot of sorrow for America after 911 and we do understand that there are alot of Americans that don't and never did support Bush. We don't want Americans to think the world hates them we just want them to understand that we are all part of this world and we all contribute something and no one country rules the world.

    • Posted By: daisyflower @ 11/03/2008 2:40:33 AM

Okay I'm kidding myself lol. I actually live in one of these countries you talk about I think I would know the issues that face my country better then you. Okay then going by your facts why did Johnny Howard lose last year. We don't hate all Americans we love the Democrats. I think you need to get a reality check but I'm guessing you are one of those people that belived WMD where in Iraq too.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 11/01/2008 8:51:33 PM

Utterly ignorant. This isn't true at all. Most of the rest of the world despises Bush.

It is true that Obama had a student from Londonderry, NH scheduled to sing the National Anthem a couple of weeks ago at one of his rallies at an apple orchard in New Hampshire. Obama cut the singing of the National Anthem from his program to make room for another speaker/supporter. The McCain camp got wind of this and that very same student sung at McCain's rally just days later.

It is true that in New Hampshire about two weeks ago, Obama cut the National Anthem (a student from the town of Londonderry, NH was supposed to sing it) from his program to make room for another speaker. McCain's team heard about it and that very same student sang the National Anthem at a McCain rally just days later.

    • Posted By: Republican be gone @ 11/02/2008 10:41:08 PM

No, its not true. McCain is not evil, although some of the negative campaigning is hard to put up with, the stale and odious ghost of Karl Rove still floating around apparently, and Obama doesn't turn into the devil on every other friday.

  • Posted By: AlenaNatalia @ 11/03/2008 2:43:58 AM

Obama is the answer to how American can once again catch up with the world and stand as a leader. This article is so accurate. As a citizen of the world living back and forth from America and the rest of the world, I have really been able to see the global effects of the Bush administration. Obama is America's hope for the remedy. McCain will just cause America to continue to disappear on the world stage.

What a shameless piece of propaganda so-called "journalism". Newsweek just has to keep selling Obama till the last minute, and this time claiming he has the support of the world. As if not electing him would be a betrayal of all mankind. How pathetic. And if one can read between the line, the world is "supporting" Obama because he's half Kenyan, had lived in Indonesia for a while, and has a Middle Eastern middle name - all superficial/racial reasons, not based on his qualifications. And if Newsweek had to bring up the event in Berlin, the authors might want to mention that the Obama stock went down after that speech, because he acted like he was already elected president. But who I am to preach? I'm not even eligible to vote, just someone living in America. Yet, maybe someone like me can offer something as an outsider, and hope that people can drop their self-important pretense.

Your facts are wrong. We will suffer horribly if Obama is elected. And the only one to tarnish our flag is Obama's friend, former ties to terrorist W. Ayers who stands on the American Flag for photos to be taken. We have a wonderful country and unless we want to see socialism or fascism, McCain should be the next President. He has the experience to do so. Obama was in the Senate 144 days and now wants to be President... you can't join the Navy and be General in that time, or go to work in a fast-food restaurant and become manager. He's too shady, has a horrible racist pastor he's listened to for twenty years, has ties to terrorist, has an aunt living in the US illegally, refuses to show pertinent documents, and how he's gotten this far is ridiculous.

You are the one that is dead out of order, this is because we are only saying what we are not, i think as Americans, we should walk the talk, instead we are painting white black and black white, let us give this people breathing space and let them prove themselves right or wrong, stop all this racisims that is alredy tearing us apart, to let you know, if Obama has been a white guy and he's pulling the crowd like this, the game would have been over, pls, let us peace a chance in our country and move forward.

I can't believe that I used to subscribe to Newsweek. What garbage. The world is not electing the US president. The US citizenry (except for ACORN-engineered voter fraud) is electing our next president. The interests of the US people are not exactly the same as the interests of people in Honduras, France or Bangladesh. So let's forget this liberal illusion that we are all one happy family of humanity. The mullahs in Teheran are racing to develop a nuclear bomb and delivery capabilities that will destroy this fantasy in one big boom. Please vote for sanity and Senator John McCain.

    • Posted By: DeBluHen @ 11/02/2008 6:59:18 PM

The interests of people everywhere are the same: to be happy and not to suffer pain. So says the Dalai Lama. He is correct. On the most basic level, all people want peace. All people. When they do not, something evil has happened to them that upset their basic desire for peace, happiness, and freedom from pain.

How does voter registration fraud translate to election fraud? Is "Mickey Mouse" going to show up at the polls and vote? Explain, please.

      No...I knew you couldn't.

Here we go again.... You need to research exactly what Acorn is, and what it does... Acorn registers voters. Only!!! Acorn has no influence over how someone they register to vote votes, nor do they create any degree of fraudulence. To create voter fraud, someone has to vote under a fictitious name. Since Acorn only registers voters, and have to trust what they are given, there is no fraud on the part of Acorn. Every State has methods of protecting against fraud. It is the States responsibility to do this, not Acorns.

    Sparkly,

I'm concerned also. I'm concerned about someone who wants to return us to the Clinton model of caving to European opinion, and doing nothing when we were attacked by Al Qaeda. He is the toast of Europe, you know! What will Obama do with Iran that he didn't do with Iraq? UN resolutions and sanctions will be worthless, and he will walk away from Iran as he did Iraq. Ahmadenijad will have his nukes, and Israel will be at the least extremely vulnerable, and at the most vaporized.

Obama's slick orator skills might get him enough votes to become president, but they won't work with Iran or Russia. There is a reason Hamas, Iran and Russia want Obama in power, and it isn't because they want to play nice. They're salivating over a young, inexperienced pacifist they can manipulate at will. Biden said it himself: "I guarantee you in the first six months, there will be an international crisis!"

And I'm concerned about Obama's "take it from those who have earned it and give to those who have not" socialist agenda. Clinton used this very lie to get into the presidency, claiming the "Class Envy" benchmark he set at 150K. The benchmark dropped rapidly, just as Obama's has, right before the election. Clinton reneged on the tax cut after taking office of course, and instead promptly handed over one of the largest tax increases... retroactively! Then there's the matter of Obama and Biden both voting last year to raise taxes on people earning 42K and up. Why suddenly the 180? No libs are interested in that or even wondering why.

I'm concerned about Obama's relationships... praising the former PLO mouthpiece, being mentored by a racist maniac that thinks the KKK runs the government, and the unrepentant terrorist Ayers. If McCain had a potentially damaging tape being held at the LA Times, they'd find a way to release it. If McCain had even a passing relationship with an abortion clinic bomber, the left would be outraged and the MSM would be crucifying him for it.

I'll also mention the flat out pathetic lie he told Clinton, McCain, and the rest of America agreeing to take public finance, and then flipped to private when he saw how much more he would pull in than the other candidates.

Lastly, I'm concerned about Obama's very disturbing statements saying that the U.S. Constitution "reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day", and to "break free from the constraints of the Constitution."

    Yes, I'm very concerned.

Boy! Aren't you good at throwing out one liners taken out of context. This is a perfect example of the ignorant American that the rest of the world is tired of. Obama has had to dumb down to people like you and you are still unable to comprehend anything more intellectually in depth than what has come from the intellectually lazy Bush/conservative thinkers. Try a little more PBS and a little less Fox.

      • Posted By: einforscher @ 11/02/2008 11:53:19 PM

Alright, M.D. If these lines were taken out of context, please enlighten everyone here in this forum and fill us in on exactly what that context was.

We are thankfully seeing less and less of the fear and smear one liners. Hopefully most of the idiots were converted but I doubt it. The ignorant and fearful among us have tried to spread their fear, like a disease, but thank god most of us have gained resistance from our encounter with Bush and Cheney. All of these type remarks are fear based. Fear generated by lack of intelligence, and in some cases compassion.

Most everyone commenting here has an agressive or passive agressive attitude. Who knows who has been bribed, what sickening deals have been made or how many people have already been mistreated during the course of this election cycle and all for the sake of what? Whoever thinks the world will get better if Obama is elected is delusional. The election of McCain will just postpone the inevitable. My prediction is that government corruption around the world will escalate out of control over the next eight years regardless of who gains the presidency and it will be especially bad in the United States. Most everyone I know who has lived in other countries, except for a few artists and musicians, say the same thing. the United States is the best place to live. This is about to end. The United States is about to become just another place in the world full of coruption and decay. There will be no place left to go. Certainly, China will not be expecting a huge immigrant migration will they? What about the Iran, Egypt, Brazil, Russia? Well, maybe Brazil, but really, what difference will it make even if Brazil becomes the temporary beacon of hope? People should never look to other people for the solutions they need most. History bears this out. A quiet and honest humility is all that is needed. Very few human beings other tham young children seem to understand this.

The writer of this comment must be either blind or novice to see that it is not about this man called obama that the document of the world view of America politics is talking about, but about the way the world sees us as leader and role model. How do one think that the entire world will be bribed by a single man or the whole world bought over by a single man, man wake up it is new day. The change should be looked into as possible, we the Americans must bring back the lost glory and take charge of our role as the world leader one more time.

Republicans tend to be hardcore Christians who see themselves as having a biblical mandate to take over the world, starting with the US. There is no global movement that is a bigger threat to individual liberties than the dominionists from the US. That is why I will fight to the death to elect Barrack Obama as President of the United States. Any other alternative is no alternative at all. Obama and freedom or McCain and Palin as the forces of an ascendant fundamentalist Christian theocracy. No contest.

In Obama's mult-million dollar infomercial he promises the American people he will:
*Be a uniter not a divider
    *always be honest with us
    *always listen to us
*always tell us why he made his decisions
    In fact he has:
*Divided and conquered the Democratic party
*refused to listen to and dismissed 18 million voters
*gone back on his promise to follow and agree to campaign reform with McCain on public funds
*never told us why Senator Clinton was not qualified to be his Vice President.
Obama has lied on all counts. Just ask the people of Illinois. All of his earliest supporters and mentors now say: "Obama is a Chicago styled crook", "He is not the person we hoped or thought he was and he is not whom he professes to be." The Hispanic communities he is suppose to represent say "He has never done anything for us". In fact, Obama voted 129 times "present". We needed a Madam "President" not a mr. present. He defrauded the American voters in all of the caucuses and should be investigated for fraud.
He cheated in the caucuses and Biden, Edwards and Clinton all know it. All of Obama's 700 million dollars will not sway me to vote for this liar and cheat. To his supporters I ask: Why are you voting for this liar? Complete power corrupts completely. McCain has a record of being a uniter. Obama has record of being a liar. I am a yellow dog liberal who is 57, and has voted straight Democrat for 40 years. NOBAMA LIES.
Obama is too little too late. Liberal for McCain 2008

I am the one who paid for Obama's campaign! No not the devil incarnate, no not the Islamic terrorist leader, not the Socialist or Communist party leader and not the big business CEO. No, just me the regular AMERICAN citizen. I contributed less than $100.00 but there are millions of "me" out there. I know it's hard to imagine but everyone in the United States is NOT a Republican or a right wing Evangelist. There's still a few million of us out here, and guess what we are tired of the Conservative GOP accusations and distortions of the truth that you use so well to try to blind us to the facts and real issues. Telling the same lie over and over again does not make it true. The problem seems to be that no matter how much evidence and information that is available to contradict your so called facts about Sen. Obama, you refuse to acknowledge that you are at best misinformed. I also find it interesting that all the easily provable allegations against Gov. Palin are immediately and conveniently ignored. The fact that over 65% af the polls showed that Americans believe she is not qualified to be Vice President much less the President. You'd rather win regardless of the tactics used. than run an honest campaign based on the issues of the country, instead of your personal agenda. So again I am the nasty culprit who is paying for Obama's campaign. So sue me.

I think the wise choice would be McCain. However, I don't have a problem with Obama either. I just wonder what will happen though, when Obama can't deliver on the "changes" he has been promising? I don't think any president can change to much of our country. Do you really think we went to war just because "W" wanted to? Many of you who denounce the war, were once silent proponents of it. John F. Kennedy was a great president... he also awarded the Green Beret to Special Forces. Maybe you liberals don't know that the Special Operation Center bares the deceased presidents name? Democrats will go to war faster than republicans,. Oh and if memory serves me, wasn't it the Republican party who originally wanted to end slavery? Yes, good old Abe was a republican... vote for the man you think can do the job. Not the one you hope can do the job. Thanks for your time.

    he Obama Mistake
From: Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.
THIS IS THE MY MOST IMPORTANT VOTING TIP:
If you are not sure who to vote for or you are planning to vote for Obama, you are about to make the most important mistake in human history. If you vote for Obama, the U. S. will be "changing" from a capitalistic nation into a communist nation in 11 month since Obama first campaign for president. This is a enormous change in such a short time. Shouldn't you at least wait for another four years nd find out what will be involved in such a drastic change? Besides, Obama is still very young & can be eleted after another four years from now. His personality and abilities have been well proven. McCain has start campaign for president since the year 2000 every terms for eight years. He is getting old with much great experience and naturally should become president as his time is running out. The U. S. will beome a one (Democratic) party dictatorship if all three branches of the government (executive, judicial & legislative), also both House & Senate turn Democrats. The rights to bear arms & guns will also be taken away. By losing guns, you also lose all opportunities to revolt later if you don't like your government. More importantly, if you are mixing racial dominance & dictatorship, you are inviting halocaust, concentration camps & lost of your jobs and houses by another race different from yours. Electing a Black president is very dangerous when the U. S. is not fully integrated. When mixing racial issues with dictatorship is an invitation to holocaust, concentration camps & taking away all the belonging of a particular race. Obama is simply neither trustworthy nor electable. If you don???t believe my facts, simply look at what's happening in Congo today. To associate issues such as abortions & gun control to a specific political party who is based race are wrong. We simply cannot identify with White as owning guns and pro-"life". We cannot identify Blacks as pro-choice or gun control. In short, you are voting Obama to give away everything you own. It is especially true for Environmental Protection, they are the worse pollutor in the U. S. and the world. Democratic Party has lied &deceived the Environment and God during Clinton Administration as the U. S. political party for Environmental Protection which in fact their record are much much worse than the Republican. In fact Democrats have created the worse Environmental problems our world will or have ever faced. Uncontrollable destuction of the U. S. will come if Democrats were elected to any government offices. Hurricane Katrina destroying the Black Democrat community in New Orlean is a good example.

    • Posted By: BunchofChemies @ 11/02/2008 9:13:24 PM

Wow, thank you for the warning, but it came too late, I already voted for Obama early. Can I take back my vote, or is it time to get out the guns and revolt? I'm so glad you pointed out that even though members of our species are remarkably homogeneous genetically compared to most other species, that race matters so much.
Hey, what say we work together and build a time machine, so we can send you back into real freedom, the Confederate States of America.

      • Posted By: Republican be gone @ 11/02/2008 11:04:37 PM

It's easier to believe that you are making this stuff up in hopes that some dummy somewhere will read it and vote against Obama as a result than that you actually believe it.

Really, this is childish. I might as well say that McCain is Beelzebub and if elected the first thing he plans on doing is putting everyone who belongs to AARP in concentration camps and inviting the antichrist to rent out the Lincoln bedroom.

The fact that this stuff is the only thing you can think about Obama speaks volumes, positively, about Obama and is thus really a reason to vote for him not against him.

hasdatruth- I have to disagree. The United States is the most ethnically diverse country I have ever seen, and I have lived on four continents. Also- racism is everywhere, and only in ethnically diverse countries do you see supremacist groups. as for life2go -you sound as if you were voting for Jeremiah Wright. You are not. He does not have to agree with everything his pator says-and has said he doesn't. Your comments seem informed by fear and the kind of fear mongering that the McCain team has been attempting in desperation. I believe Obama will win. Hopefully your anger will subside and you can accept the new path of the country.

    • Posted By: Republican be gone @ 11/02/2008 10:50:17 PM

There are quite a few countries around the world that are much more homogenous than the United States that have not been faced with the ethnic and racial issues of different groups trying to live together and others with racial problems as deep or deeper than hours that are still partially masked in some ways but are having a lot of trouble.

Over the past 18 months the real nature of our country has showcased itself with an old white guy, a woman and a black guy running for the presidency and the process has been open to the world every step of the way. All over the world people have trouble living together or have never had to seriously face the issue and here it looks like we're really making progress.

I am so proud of country. One of the big lessons humanity has to learn is for everyone to live together. We will not survive if we fail in this task and I am so proud to see the United States, for all our flaws, leading the way.

What peaks my curiosity is will Obama call for the NAACP to either disband, or become more inclusive once he becomes president? The NAACP as it stands right now is just as the acronym states, the 'National Association for the Advancement of COLORED people'. My question is when will there stop being a double standard, when will this segregationist (blacks only ,blacks first) group be called what it is 'A product of the 60's' which has overstayed it's welcome in this all inclusive society. Today we have a black man who is predicted to become the president, why do we still need a watch dog which solely looks out for someone based on their race? I'm guessing that if I, a white man, were discriminated against by people of another color, they would attempt to discredit my claims and close the door on my plea for assistance. I vote this year to have this group open their doors, and change their name to the 'National Association for the Advancement of American (or All) People. We as a society aren't afraid to stand up for injustice when it pertains to certain groups, let us include everyone and stop shroaded bigotry.

    • Posted By: Romero @ 11/02/2008 10:49:05 PM

Obama as president does not have any power over a civil organization. If you as a white man want to joint the NAACP you may, but after reading your comments, I do not think you really have any interest in jointing the organization. You just want to organization done away with, because you think that a half black president will provide for all black peoples needs to the determent of the whites. Oh what small people we have in our country. You forget that we will not have an all black congress. Most of congress will be white. A country can not stand if it divided any president that purposedly does this, should not be re-elected. You also forget that Sen. Obama can not be elected solely with black or minority votes, he needs many of the white votes to get into office. Do you think he is ignorant of this fact. Do you think he is going to alienate the white votes that voted for him. A president can be voted out, or impeached if he gets to far out of wack.

    Nowforsomemoresmears

Government redistributes wealth to some extent by its very existence, since it's impractical for citizens to pay for or benefit from it in equal proportion, even if that were desirable. So long as you have a system of taxation and a spending on public goods like education and roads, some people will do better in the bargain than others. The real questions are whether public policy consciously tries to affect the distribution of wealth, how much it tries to change it, and in what direction.

Redistribution has a "from" side???taxation???and a "to" side???spending. On the "from" side, the notion that government should use taxation to increase rather than decrease equality is hardly Marxist. In The Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith begins his section on taxation with the following maxim: "The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government, as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities." To ask otherwise, Smith writes, would be obviously unfair.
