After 8 years of Bush-Cheney's incredible arrogance, what the world would welcome is a US president who does not have a closed mind and all the (wrong) answers, but rather one with an open mind willing to search for the right questions. Obama has challenged us with some questions, about race, about social justice, about how the US should interact with the world. In this, he is showing us, the voters, some genuine respect. He's giving us the chance to help him ask the right questions and , with him, to come up with the right answers. We can help Obama grow as he grapples with the tough policy issues ahead, and he, as president, can help empower us by genuinely seeking our opinion. With Obama, we might just be able to restore some respect around the world for our country. What a relief this would be after 8 years of a president who, evidently lacking in mental and moral discipline, just feeds us answers and questions our patriotism if we disagree.

This is brilliant insightful journalism, being Canadian and also in close contact with Europe, these sentiments have been echoed for some time. No one could believe when Bush get voted in for a 2nd term, let alone the first.
We have champagne in the fridge waiting to be opened on November 4th, when Obama ascends the throne to President of the World. USA will be redeemed after a long dark winter of the Bushites freak ideology of ignorance, lies, bullying, and hideous foreign policy.

After reading this entire article I am now more convinced then ever that Obama is the wrong person to be President of the U.S. The fact that most of the world, and especially the Europeans, wants Obama is more then enough reason to elect McCain. The Europeans, except in very, very rare occasions have done nothing to help the U.S. They are more a hindrance then a friend and I would not want the U.S. to go to the aid of Europe again. They are not worth it.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

your anger is unjustified, he is just a guy, a republican plant probably.....but honestly your hope for harm to come to him is as loathsome as the republican hatred for liberal thoughts, no one deserves to have his legs broken b/c he is a phony or even dishonest, please put your torch and pitchfork down, he is only a guy!

Unfortunately these type comments mirror the hard right wing hatred that I abhor. There is no need for such vicious statements.

    • Posted By: thinkingamerican @ 11/01/2008 2:58:58 PM

He's running for President of the United States, not the Universe! Obama is not the Messiah for heaven's sake, he is a man. He has you all fooled and he will lead you all like sheep to slaughter. Wake the F up! Use the brain G-d gave you and think.

After 8 years of GWB, what the US - and the world - really need is not a US president whose mind is closed and who thinks he already convinced he has all the answers, but rather one whose mind is open and willing to try to ask us the right questions. Obama has already gone a long way toward challenging the public with questions - about race, about social justice, about our health care system, about how the US should interact with the world community. It means that Obama respects us, the voters, to help come up with the right answers. For 8 years, Bush has never asked our opinion and only given us his own gut-driven answers. And look at where that has gotten us. It's time we try to have a president with a genuine working intelligence, and one who, from all apeparances, has what can also be called emotional IQ. We can help Obama grow, and he, as president, can also help take America to a higher level of performance. And regain the world's respect.

deeprakash, .......... you must want a one world government .......... yuck

  • Posted By: Len134 @ 11/02/2008 2:51:44 PM

I have been embarrassed by the lack of intelligence, ethics, and morality of our leaders for 8 years. Now we have a choice... Intelligence vs Dogmatism, Judgment vs. Ambition, Perseverance vs. Unsteadiness, Diplomacy vs. Militancy, Hope vs. Fear. Religious Acceptance vs. Crusader Christianity, Tolerance vs. Intolerance... There truly is no choice, Obama/Biden Americas only hope in this election.

Thank you for this great article. AS the current president winds down, it is extremely important for the new president to look more like a "World's president" than just a "US president". The international goodwill will do wonders for America as a true leader of democracies, a genuine super power and as the economic engine of the world. I only hope the voters in the red states care less about 'Red' and see more "Green" for the change to come. It's important to know what the world thinks about your vote. Kudos to the authors of this article.

ya, there is lots of interest, because many radical islamic countries are welcoming their muslim brother into the white house

Thank you for a good article. As a U.S. citizen, I can say we have felt hostage to our Bush/Cheny government. There are books and articles wriiten about the Republican party stealing the 2000 & 2004 presidential elections by purging voters and not counting ballets. To our horror the purging is happening again. If Obama/Biden do not win, It's not because we didn't vote for them, it's because the Republican's cheated again. We pray everyday for Obama to win. Pray for us to. OBAMA/BIDEN 08 !!!!!!!!

The Whole World Is Watching! I am so glad that this old saying from when I was a teenager is making a big comeback this year. It is amazing that our presidential race has become so popular for so many around the world. No doubt the whole world has been disappopinted the past 8 years as they watched a couple fo tyrants run our once great secular democracy into the ditch. Now they hope to see that our voters have enough smarts to reclaim our secular democracy from the theocratic autocrats who have ruined it. The whole world is hopeful that Barack Obama is the 21st Century President who will bring America back from the edge of disaster to being that leading light for all to admire and want to emulate.

Let's show the whole world we're listening to them as well and vote Obama into office with a large landslide victory that leaves no doubts that our once great secular democracy is on the way back up again!

We need another bellicose "bring it on" president like we need a hole in the head. In my humble opinion talk first, action later if need be. I am a combat veteran with a purple heart. I have seen war and it is bad. That is why I support Barak Obama for president.

The world has the right to think about American election. Sometimes an American President does more in their life than their own.

If you make an effort to travel to ther parts of your country, and other parts of this world, you will learn a lot about other cultures and people. Then you will know that all people want peace and love. When I said that to one of my colleagues in the deep south, he said, he doesn't care about other cultures.

America is a super power, and it forces its will on other countries. So, people of other countries are interesed in who the next American president is. So, the grumpies and war mongers in America should not be allowed to rule any longer. Please vote for peace. We had enough wars.

Barack Obama is not "God" nor made any claims to be "The Messiah". These are the words of the people that hate him. I for one, am all for < wars. Where has it gotten us or the state of our planet? Nowhere except deeper in debt and environmental destruction. I feel Obama represents peace and a chance for unity among our international neighbors and offers hope. I am willing to give peace chance-Why can't everyone else?

      • Posted By: atomheartmother1 @ 11/02/2008 12:59:35 PM

I could'nt agree more. Not saying Obama will be "God" but believe he can help restore our rdibility in the eye of the rest of the worldby being a negotiator rathr than a pistol packer!!! Gandhi freed a coutry through pacifist beliefs and actions. Why DON'T we give PEACE a chance? It's been a log time since I've seen it!!!
