    comment: with lowering of taxes there is need for expert assessment of as to how much expenditure is required to run the government out of the revenue they are earning. the imposition of taxes and their rates must have some relation with the actual requirements of the governments. at times the tax money is utilised in wasteful expenditure. yours R.     This article echoes much of what Steve Forbes has been saying about the needs of our current economy. It is really a shame that Forbes isn't at the forefront of policymaking right now...if he had been elected President in 2000, I am confident the current economic crisis would not exist.

    Read this article for more on "if Forbes had won in 2000"--it seems somewhat academic, but we can certainly learn from the past. Economic leaders like Forbes need to have a larger role in the economy. They bring new ideas and are immune from a lot of he politics that drives too many decisionmakers.
