Hahaha economy the fault of republicans. As an independent, I have been shocked that neither party brings up the legislation that I believe caused this mess. It is because they all voted for it overwhelmingly, and nobody wants to admit fault. The foundation for the current financial crisis was set in motion by Bill Clinton and the Republican House and Senate with full support of House and Senate Democrats, in 1999 with the Financial Services Modernization Act. Check it out. It removed alot of banking and stock regulation from the Glass Stegall act of 1933. Down with the republican and democratic party. I want a 4+ pary system, or no parties at all.

    Maverick
Mav"er·ick noun In the southwestern part of the united States, a bullock or heifer that has not been branded, and is unclaimed or wild; -- said to be from Maverick , the name of a cattle owner in Texas who neglected to brand his cattle. Yea.. that's it.

I am a smoked-ham-tan-olive pigmented man who has worked very hard for what he has. Strong guidence from others who instilled a sort of "moral-compass" that guides me in my decision making is what got me where I am today. It is funny how when people have nothing else to back up an argument, it goes to race. Just look at the guy's voting record, political career, etc...stick to the substance and the decision to reject his ideas for our country will be VERY easy to make. P.S. We need a strong 3rd party of TRUE CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!!!

Check out factcheck.org. Obama may be overly hopeful in the programs he'd like to implement, but McCain and Palin are just straight up liars!! I'd rather have a dreamer for a president than those lying, deceitful, hateful people. Also, for those who are hearing on the radio that Blacks are voting for Obama because he is Black, check out talk shows like Tom Joyner, Michael Baisden and Russ Parr. There, you can hear people saying exactly why they are or are not voting for Obama. NO ONE is just voting for him because he is Black. If that were true, we'd have voted for Keyes!

    • Posted By: Ritafour42 @ 11/04/2008 2:17:54 PM

Hey maybe you need to read this post, there are people who have posted here that voted for Obama JUST because he was black, so don't give me that we would never do that BS

  • Posted By: a-lieu@sbcglobal.net @ 11/04/2008 2:17:35 PM

I wish networks and individual news reports stop predicting who is the winner. That is annoying to voters like me. I don't think any one should tell anyone else whom to vote. Do something worthwhile for a change!

    Take a breath America:
And quit painting a monkey suit on the party you oppose for just one moment.
If McCain wins we all be fine. If Obama wins we will all also be fine. This isn't a pollyanna attitude -- its a fact. The world did not end when Reagan won, one Clinton won, or when Bush(s) won.

The comments below that continue fear mongering/rumors from and about both parties (below) are just plain silly. America is a country of Reason and Ideals. Not fear. Try voting (and writing) with that in mind.

Tell that to Cuba when Castro was elected or Germany when Hitler was elected.

I believe that Obama is not the best choice to become the leader of this great nation. The picture of him holding the book "The Post American World" says it all for me. I do not want someone to lead this country that even thinks about putting the US down economically. I simply voted for McCain because of the book that Obama was reading. This has nothing to do with race and if it just so happened that McCain was holding this book I would be voting the other way. I hope all Obama voters regret voting for him after he puts the US global economy down the drain. McCains plan for the rich to stay rich I truly agree with and no I am not rich i believe if you hard you should get paid for that hard work. GO MCCAIN!!

Kerri I agree... A lot of people really need to GROW UP and SHUT UP(freedom of speech sure, but know what you are talking about and have your facts together)... Ignorance is not becoming of anyone.

If all the statements and assumptions about Obama were true, then why has progressed as far as today? People let others form their opinions for them and accept it as truth. There are alot of things wrong with our country but, there are also things that can be improved upon. Today, it is our responsibility to decide who will give us what is necessary to improve our lives or keep us where we are. I am not a lifelong Democrat but, I voted for Obama because for once I had a choice of a person of color who can relate to the majority of this country. Someone who came from a similar background and learned the appreciate the principles and values instilled by the elders of his family. Someone who knows what it means to truly fight for the things you want in life in this country. Democrats more readily address domestic issues and do more for those at "home". John McCain stated in the last debate that what Obama was offering was "class warfare"; that quote in its self tells you what the Republicans think of the rest of the country. That to me defined their guiding principles and philosophy more than anything else. They're all about themselves more than any other group in America. I want someone who is going to represent this country and its people; not the "elitist".

    • Posted By: Ritafour42 @ 11/04/2008 2:15:28 PM

What a sorry excuse, you voted for someone because they were a people of color. Now there is really a reason to support that person isn't it.

  • Posted By: BelieverOfOldFashionValues @ 11/04/2008 12:31:44 PM

Sorry, not ready for a black president. However, if Obama is elected, it'll be time to end the boo hooing about blacks being minorities and racial bull thats been going on since the abolishment of slavery. If Obama is elected as president of the United States - then there must be an end to minority benefits given to black individuals. It's well overdue for blacks to stand up and be accounted for in equality as white americans have had no choice but to endure since the beginning of time and watch as society gives the minorities and immigrants the benefits and help that white individuals cannot get, simply because of race, status and count.

cry me a f***ing river, old time. How old time you want to get, with Massa whippin his darkies cause they wasn't pullin their share of de work? As a white man married to a Black woman, I have seen teh racism your kind puts out. Poor, poor Whitey, paying for all those black welfare mom's babies. Hey, Way mor white folks on welfare than black ones (check any trailer park in Tennesee or Kentucky). I have walked into stores with my wife and had her completely be ignored, or if she leaves to look for something else, followed around the store in case she tries to steal something, while I am waited on with no issue. Racism is here, it's evil, and you need to get a clue. If ONLY you might spend a month or 2 being treated the way people of color have (and are) you would sing a different tune. You poor, poor carrier of the "White man's burden...)

      • Posted By: Marine2005 @ 11/04/2008 12:59:36 PM

There ar more black people on welfare than white people, why don't you go check the getto? It shouldn't be the hard working black and white peoples place to pay for their lazy a**. The reason why people look at you and your wife is because YOU ARE WHITE AND SHE IS BLACK!!! Are you that retarded not to know that?

        • Posted By: anonymous08 @ 11/04/2008 2:14:49 PM

There are more than just blacks and whites on welfare. Wake up! Black and White don't make up the whole America you know!

        • Posted By: Demforever @ 11/04/2008 1:19:50 PM

This shows how stupid you are. What do you have a 5th grade education. You certainly have no clue what your talking about. Maybe you should actually become educated instead of listening to all of your redneck friends.

    • Posted By: anonymous08 @ 11/04/2008 2:09:46 PM

Would you say the same thing to the cultures of a Spanish or Asian American candidate? Why so many people making it seem like blacks are the only ones that make America look lazy! What is wrong with yall people???!!!

    • Posted By: Demforever @ 11/04/2008 1:11:27 PM

Maybe the fact that your not ready for a black presidents indicates that this country is still full of bigots like yourself. As long as there are bigots like yourself we will always have to be on guard to make sure that minorities have equal rights. By the way I am white and a conservative. People like you are a disgrace to my race.

    • Posted By: dsfriend @ 11/04/2008 12:55:22 PM

I'm sure you would love to go back to the good old days when the blacks picked your cotton, tended your fields and help clean up after you and your family while you ate a wonderful dinner prepared by the house n%%$. Get over it. Obama is going to be president whether you're ready or not.

    • Posted By: Demforever @ 11/04/2008 12:50:24 PM

Just the fact that your not ready for a black president suggest that this country is still full of bigots like yourself. This would also suggest that we still need checks and balances in place that don't allow people with your mentality to dictate our society.

    • Posted By: SpiritusMundi @ 11/04/2008 12:47:28 PM

What ignorant nonsense. If you're not ready for a black president, then you shouldn't be ready for a white, blue, green, yellow or pink one which is what most folks who call themselves by the color "white" are - pink. I have never met a white man before, but I sure have met many pink ones.

    • Posted By: Objectivisor @ 11/04/2008 12:38:07 PM

Obama is a elequent orator able to suck in the uneducated masses with his fine words. McCain is not skilled in such a manner. He has been forced to use his campaign in a way to try and bring Americans out from under the "thrall" of Obama's fancy words. Which is all they are. Words. He has no experience to back them up. If Obama wins today, his voters are in for a rude awakening. He will take this country down the slippery road to socialism and that's not what we really want.

By the way, ThinkingBeing, trickle down economy worked exactly how Regan predicted. The fruition of his plan came about during Clinton's administration and credit was improperly given. You might want to do a little more research on the topic.

    • Posted By: ThinkingBeing @ 11/04/2008 2:14:38 PM

The deficit went up almost $4 trillion dollars under Reagan/Bush I. Up another $5 trillion under Bush II. Any economic strategy that plunges us into almost insurmountable debt is an undeniable failure. Clinton's trickle up strategies turned the economy after the Reagan-Bush I years and had they been allowed to continue we would not be in the mess we are today.

  • Posted By: mythmaker @ 11/04/2008 2:14:25 PM

not only an idiot--- a racist, uneducated redneck!!! all i know is that the "Old Boys" network that ran the Bush administration will be the same "Old Boys" network running the McCain administration, plain and simple! and the united states and the rest of the world cannot afford to have that happen!!!!

Making $250,000.00 a yar wow, can't even imagine. I work every day, put food on the table pay my taxes and heat in my home. I am worried about our country, without that we don't even need a home.

Republicans always sound upset... angry... and very hateful towards the other party... only for that It sounds just weird to support them.

Did I include they tend to look down on people who don't think the way they do?

    Example: first comment here...

  • Posted By: steve4redsox @ 11/04/2008 11:54:30 AM

The truth is my values for myself are probably as high as anyone else sets for them self. I don't consider my opinion to be germane to decisions other people have to make. That is if a "naive" women wants to get an abortion her decision is based on many things. What those things are are A) none of my business and B) the only things that matter to that individual. People who want to marry should be allowed to make that decision based on what they feel is right. Would we lower taxes for people who want to marry a person of the same sex. It's not about religion a marriage license is a civil, town/state issued license that all people who pay taxes should have a right to obtain, who they marry is not any one's business.

The thing is that everyone that has christian values has that right but those who do not have christian values has the same rights. I don't understand why this would even be questioned. Why do people think it's any of their business what someone else does? That is especially true when it is something as intimate as sexual behavior and between a doctor and their patient. Anything that is between them and God is between them and God and again should not be interfered with by those whose "morals" don't mesh. After all it is God who will judge and all will agree that he is just.

Umm actually check your facts therebuddy marriage was never a civil union as u describe until the US made it so prior to our country even existing it could ONLY be performed by an ordained minister of faith and furthermore it was an institution created by ..Oh u guessed it... GOD. as read from the hebrew torah and concubines were the way of the world prior to that u didnt "marry" a wonam you took her to your bed to have kids and cook and clean and wash ur clothing sheesh God save us from ignorant people. and BTW that Bible we thump contains the history of His chosen people backed up by thousands of years of written documentation in every middle eastern and eastern country ...but i suppose all those peoples ,romans, turks , egyptians they just fabricated the information to fit the Isrealis world view because they ran things...oops no wait they DIDNT they were slaves to many ! Man marriage and life are defined in ur bible if u dont own one i'll give you mine. you need to here real truth. Marriage One man , one woman, having children, and loving them and one another thats mariage. if all the homosexuals out there marry and the world becam homosexually based guess what would happen? NOTHING no kids no growth no next gen.. just death. get a clue marriage is within the natural order Adam and Eve havin kids or if u prefer George Washington and Martha not George and Martin....

      • Posted By: steve4redsox @ 11/04/2008 2:10:14 PM

Okay so "civil" marrieage was created by us after we established the US. Whatever I coould care less about the history of marriage, I could care less about your religious beliefs. If there are rights for some people in the US those rights should pertain to all people in the US, despite what they believe or do not believe.

The civil license issued to heterosexual people should therefore be issued not depending on who the person is marrying but to all citizens who pay taxes to fund the government issuing the license. Nobody can get merried legally without the license so that would put everyone on the same level. Don't you hate it when I intimate that gay people are as valuable as straight people. Otherwise they should get a tax break for every right they do not have. The size of the tax break would depend on the significance of the right the person is denied. IMO the right to obtain a marriage license would be significant.

BTW I'm not your buddy, I don't even know you but I doubt we'd get along all that well if I did. Go thump your bible, go project your morals onto to those who do not believe what you believe, that's your right as an American. Beautiful country isn't it? Everyone is equal except gays. fat people, Muslims, anyone that looks like they could be a Muslim, people who don't believe in God, liberals, illegal immigrants, legal immigrants, and people who think the bible is not our constitution. Go Obabma!!!
