The whole racism and color of the skin argument can go both ways. Have any of you stopped to condiser how many votes Obama will be getting tonight because he is black? I have black friends who have no idea what Obama stands for - they will vote for him only becuase he is black. I have white friends who are voting for Obama for no other reason than they want to be part of history and say they did their part to elect a black man. I personally will not vote for Obama - not because of what color his skin is or isn't - but becuase I consider myself a conservative and my values align more with the republican party's. As much as I wanted to vote for Obama, my heart and conscience tell me I cannot.

Okay folks let's face it...... If Obama wins and the Dems hold the Senate, the it is going to be like a Macy's Blow-Out Sale, a spending free for all. There has to be balance down the line, If McCain wins, the he will hold a Dem congress in check. None of us can afford more taxes, higher gas prices (although they have started slipping... coincidence?), most of us struggled to put oil in our tanks . Nevermind going after our private retirement funds, they are already guaranteed a piece of that and now they want more?We HAVE to get out of the Middle East to begin to fix the economy, I just don't think Obama is the man for THAT particular job. By the way, I am a lifelong registered Dem and today I voted for John McCain. Also, I am pro-choice and pro-gay rights (including same sex marriage), let's think, how much damage can he do if the Dems hold Congress?

    • Posted By: Regina_Darling @ 11/04/2008 5:58:02 PM

I just want to say that the price of oil is slipping for a myriad of reasons. The largest one is that auto sales are plummeting. The economy has a huge role in it as well. What coincidence? It's supply and demand.

    • Posted By: Pro-choice voter @ 11/04/2008 5:48:55 PM

Hello??? What about the Supreme Court? I am guessing you are a man who will never face the true impact of the ban on abortion that the republican platform and McCain's nutty running mate want to impose on women. How can you say, how much damage can he do in light of the obvious Supreme Court implications?

    • Posted By: truepilot @ 11/04/2008 5:47:51 PM

A blow out sale at Macys? How about a blow out sell-out to the banks. We gave our money to the foxes in the hen house. who will now use it to screw the mortgage holder who defaults in his payments. The banks will get his home and keep the bailout money. O l love those banks who make fools of us all. Oh, by the way lets continue to spend $10billion a month in Iraq. It's a sad day for the likes of George W and his ilk. We need to get our country back in the hands of he people.

Do you Obama supporters not realize that he is NOT capable of being president, he has NO experience, and NO accomplishments. I don't even know how he got this far. Hillary should have won the primaries.

    • Posted By: truepilot @ 11/04/2008 5:57:59 PM

We need ANOTHER experienced career politician in the Whitehouse. They know how to stuff the pork barrel, roll the logs and pat each other on the back. Take heart, your type hates lots of good men like the inexperienced Jack Kennedy who inspired and changed the country for the better. We can do better than the likes of Bush and McCain, career politicians.

Doesn't take much to impress a obamacrat.

      • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 5:27:22 PM

Didn't take that much to impress half of the GOP either - which he has. With your logic it would be impossible for him to garner 44% of the RNC endorsements. Yet somehow he has. How? Oh yeah, smart. And don't you think right now the US needs an uber-organizer?

Comment: I wan to say that realistically it doesn't matter who anyone chooses to vote for there will only be one winner. Beyond that about 99% of all the comments on here show just how bad Americans look to other countries. It doesn't matter what color, race, religion, shape, size, etc., or at least it shouldn't matter. We are the country that is supposed to be the melting pot of the world and yet the large majority of Americans go out of their way to make themselves feel superior to everyone else. To quote a friend of mine, "It is not religion, color, race, etc... that are ugly, it is the people that make them ugly." We as people make all of these things ugly by doing everything in our power to make ourselves superior to one thing or another. What we all need to do is learn and grow up, and STOP REGRESSING! I voted for Obama myself and I am Happy for whatever anyone else has seen fit to vote for whether it is McCain, Independent, Non-Partisan, etc. To each their own and what makes them happy. Good Luck to all Politicians that are running today. Especially good luck to Obama, my condolences on the loss of your grandmother.

Dear JustJim-"most Obama supporter will have no idea what it means?" seems like you are the ignorant one. Those with higher educational levels than the average voter are overwhelmingly in support of Obama. Let's see: McCain graduated 5th from the bottom of his class at the naval academy. Obama was the president of the Harvard Law Review and was later a professor who taught Constitutional Law. Hmmmm.....assuming that Obama supporters are illiterate is just wishful thinking on your part. I can't speak for them all, but I earned a bachelors and a Masters degree, overcoming the impoverished circumstances in which I was raised. McCain came from a wealthy family - his mom was an oil heiress, (hey there's a surprise!) and he still screwed up in school because of his hot head. Based on education alone, I am more qualified than he is to hold any office. And I don't have PTSD.

Does anyone have a personal experience with either McCain or Obama they can share? I do, I met McCain at the Bremerton waterfront years ago when he wanted the nomination for Republican party. I can tell you on a personal level I did not care for him because I felt no weakness. What that meant to me was, I can not manipulate him. So on a personal level I would have a tough time persuading him. As far as being a leader to our country, this is the exact quality I would want. I have not met Obama, but I have met McCain and I believe he is a good representation of our county's strength. I do not think he can be bullied. That is what I want, a strong leader.

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 1:44:17 PM

Or one that lies a lot. Isn't that weakness? Kitchen sink stuff? Is losing your own campaign weak? How about choosing Palin? Weak?

      • Posted By: ShariMMcPherson @ 11/04/2008 1:51:30 PM

No comment on your blah blah blah. Have you met either of these men? Can anyone share a face to face experience, honestly?

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 5:46:28 PM

Isn't your experience McCain is good and Obama is bad? That's how it sounds.

  • Posted By: Alvy @ 11/04/2008 1:33:53 PM

But for Obama to go so far in such a long election is testament to his fortitude. Ahhhhhh.

To face down the insults, lies, half-lies and frivolousy glib superficial attacks was courageous.

Most of us could not have done it. He didn't blink.

To suffer having your patriotism questioned by those who have a dislike of self - internally (maybe externally); and to placate and uplift those who have an inherited aversion towards him showed the temperament, moral fiber and good nature that a lot of those without character said he didn't possess.

Please know that the bloggers on this site have provided us with hours of entertainment, and a perspective that we did not know existed on such a large scale. Here it is 2008, and the US is filled with such useless "fear" - and it is fear because fear is the LCD targeting the other negative traits. Without some of these bloggers, Obama could not have gone as far. So thanks to:

Phony is a correct term for Obama and you have fallen for it hook line and sinker, I detest the man and anyone that bears his traits.

How is it that the state of Illinois failed to send ballots to those serving in Iraq and God knows where else? How can the election be over until everyone has had the opportunity to vote? This is an outrage! If these people in the military are good enough to die for your freedom and mine, how is it they can't vote?

    • Posted By: Regina_Darling @ 11/04/2008 5:42:21 PM

How is it that the swing states are reporting ballot shortages, broken machines, and voter purges? How can the election be over if not everyone has the chance to vote? Very good question.

Right on target, the guy is manipulitive, passive-agressive, a liar, cheat, criminal, deceiver, and will say anything to get what he wants and is totally out od control from his wounds of the past; typical behavior of an insane person the beleives he is ok.

If you ge tangry over an injustice he will dump it on you and say that you are the one who is exhibiting wrong behaviors and out od control. But the non-dysfuntional sane educated people know the real truth and can see right throuhg him.

You said it better than I did. What did the one line reply have to do with my comment? I was asking if anyone had a personal experience with either of these men that they could share. I do not see where honesty could possible apply to my comment.

            • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 5:41:42 PM

Actually, you said: Mccain is great. Obama is not. Then called a person you don't now manipulative.
How's the election going for you? Good, good.

          • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 5:39:50 PM

Absolutely. It is normal to call some guys on a blog you don't know awful things. Some other bloggers even call Obama - Hussein, the Master, he hates white people, he hates America etc. But that's normal - because somehow you know. If only I could be normal like you. If only.

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 11/04/2008 5:37:10 PM

Sorry. You're right. I should be careful asking folks if they have had a personal experience with a candidate, then say I did, then say the other candidate is not qualified - because I'd be manipulative. Oh sorry, that was you who did that. Ooops.

  • Posted By: badmuthajoka @ 11/04/2008 5:35:06 PM

All states make a in play in presidential elections. It is comments that states aren't in play for elections that discourage voters from getting out and casting their vote/voice for whom they wish to be President. Every vote counts!!!!

I think we can all agree that "We Need Change!" I'm not that impressed with either candidate, but I will say this: If we vote McCain in as President, we might as well let G.W. run for another 4 yrs. Everything will be the same as it's been the last 8 yrs if McCain becomes President. It can't get any worse than it already is. I'm not an Obama supporter, but anything is better than another "Bush" in office.

No no. She voted for Obama because she hates religious people! Why did you start voting? Shouldn't your vote have been a little more thought out before voting for the future president? I sure hope you got all the facts! And honestly! Stop generalizing religious people. Not all bible readers are quite as insane as the vocal ones on this page.

    • Posted By: wcmartin @ 11/04/2008 4:14:38 PM

Churches are made up of sinners...apparently in your world, they should be made up of people who are perfect. If we were all perfect, we would not need church.

I don't think supporting the killing of infants is very Christian. I don't think the diminishment of human dignity by making people rely on government is very Christian. I don't think having Rev. Wright as a spiritual mentor is very Christian-like. I don't think supporting abortion is Christian. I don't think implementing a regressive tax system on the poor is very Christian-like. I don't think giving such a small portion of your income to charity is very Christian.

Maybe you should at least consider the message that comes from the church you don't attend before making important decisions like voting for president.

I hope this country can look past the media and gossip and see that John McCain is the right choice. He has the military experience we all need in this time of was. I believe that in order to hold the Commander and Chief of this country a man should have a military background and be willing to fight for what is right.. Just because McCain is a Rep does not mean he has the same beliefs as George Bush and will be like him. Please think with your rights freedoms and the constitution in mind, not your wallet. Your money will do you no good if the financial crisis is not solved and the war is ended in a orderly manner
