Note to the editor: Under the 10 pm EST closure heading there is a typo that reads, "The key area to watch in Montana is Washoe County (Reno),..." I am a resident of Washoe County and the last time I checked, i lived in the state of Nevada.

Great article. Now I can intelligently follow the results without playing russian roulette on the map. Go Obama. By the way, what happened to what's his names' townhall meetings? He is all over the map now.

Proposition 8 in California does not seek to protect the legal status of same-sex marriage. It seeks to amend the constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage. If Proposition 8 passes, gays and lesbians will loose the legal right to be married.

A quick edit check should be in order. Under the 10pm EST poll closures heading, there is an error that reads " The key area to watch in Montana is Washoe County (Reno)..." I am a resident of Washoe County and the last time I checked I was living in Nevada, not Montana.

You've got the sides flipped on Prop 8, voting for it defines marriage between man and woman (conservative), against it would allow same-sex marriage

You have California's Prop 8 backwards. It is supposed to outlaw same-sex marriage, so religious conservatives will be voting FOR it.

where are your fact checkers. Wahsoe County (Reno) is in Nevada not Montana

Nate, Conservatives are for Prop 8. It seeks to ban same sex marriage by Constitutional Amendment.

This is a little too convoluted. A blue Indiana would be a decisive blow against McCain but hardy anything that would make "a longer night". Where I agree is Virginia; if Obama gets Virginia is pretty much lights out for McCain. Try as he might McCain is not getting Pennsylvania (Biden has done the rounds VERY effectively there), and the thing is that, for pundits to keep it interesting they continually talk about Penn as a possible for McCain, but he is trailing in Ohio and Florida too! Penn is an even longer shot. the thing that keeps us reading and watching TV is this sense of uncertainty but to look at reality honestly is to see that Obama has it pretty much wrapped up. I advise everyone to go out and vote anyway, no matter what the early results show since there are congressional races to be won. Obama vs McCain is pretty much decided.

Nate -- love your site. It's been very informative. One correction -- at 10 pm you said one key area to watch in Montana was Washoe County (Reno). Last time I checked, Washoe and Reno were in Nevada. And I agree that Washoe needs to be watched. Any areas in particular we should watch in Montana.??

Nate - you got Prop 8 backwards!

California's Prop 8 seeks to amend the California Constitution to "define" marriage as only between a man and a woman. Conservatives would likely vote YES on Prop 8.

You got Prop 8 backwards. Prop 8 seeks to take away marriage rights from same-sex couples. A vote for Prop 8 is a vote against same-sex marriage. A vote against Prop 8 would protect same-sex marriage.
