Washoe County is in Nevada
Washoe County is in Nevada
There's a mistake here:
" If Obama appears as though he's headed toward a landslide victory, crestfallen conservatives might not bother heading for the polls to vote against Prop 8."
A vote against Prop 8 is a vote FOR equal marriage rights. Conservatives are voting FOR Prop 8.
Washoe County is in Nevada not Montana.
Just a note -- it's a little misleading to say Prop 8 "seeks to protect the legal status of same-sex marriage" -- in fact Prop 8 seeks to eliminate that status.
Proposition 8 on the California Ballot rescinds the right for gays to marry--the conservatives will be voting for it, not against it as you claim. Please correct this.
Obama reveals plan for jobs in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and other states, and Obama's plan for dealing with the high cost of energy, including electricity generation.
An audiotape of an interview Barack Obama did in January 2008 with The San Francisco Chronicle has surfaced in the final days of the presidential campaign. On the tape Obama tells the interviewer, "so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can ??? It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."
Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not in Pennsylvania? We have seen that before, yes? Something about guns and religion.
And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?
They can build a clean coal plant but building a dirty coal plant will carry penalties for the greenhouse gas emissions. Both McCain and Obama are in agreement on this because it makes sense. What is the controversy you are trying to generate here?
Okay Nate we will be tuned in !
Thanks Nate for the 'program' for tomorrows show. Your site has kept me sane this year.

Hubman predicts landslide for Obama and 60 Senate seats for Democrats; McConnel and Dole lose, Chambliss too
Republicans suck
Fix the prop 8 mistake! Prop 8 does not protect gay marriage; it writes bigotry into the CA constitution.

???Nowforsomethingotherthanthetruth??? exemplifies the measures employed by the McCain campaign starting with the anonymous smear emails that began when McC hired the Bush propaganda machine.
This deception campaign tries to benefit from party loyalties. It preys upon hate, prejudice and fear, and on the ???unanswered questions??? fabricated by the anonymous emails this campaign perpetrated. Links to debunks of many of those fabrications are in an earlier posting.
This is by far the greatest extreme ever in American politics. It is a fundamental threat to our political process. It would further entrench the Bush operatives who took over the McC campaign, and the republican lobbyists who represent only the megarich who looted our economy.
McC was a maverick. He promised to root out the lobbyists he said are what???s wrong with Washington. He said he would not take the low road employed by the Bush machine when it smeared him. He sold out when he got behind and subscribed to the ideology that the end justifies the means.
McC would continue the Bush tax give away to the rich that McC previously opposed and called ???irresponsible??? because ???it only benefits the rich.???
McC now wants to give more billions in tax give aways to oil companies that have just reported the largest profits in history for two consecutive quarters, while he claims that lowering taxes for everyone under $250k in after-deduction income will somehow keep businessmen from starting businesses.
???Nowfor??? has employed many of the themes in the anonymous viral emails. He recently said it was ???revealed that Obama has PLO buddies??? referring to Rashid Khalidi to whom McC donated $440k:
http://richmonddemocrat.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-funded-rashid-khalidi.html Guilt by association.
"Nowfor" continues repasting that the cause of our problem is a law decades old that encourages loans to qualified low income people.
Alan Greenspan said the cause is that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation; "we trusted" these self-interested looters ???to regulate themselves???. Credit Default Swaps resulted. They increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under R stewardship.
The legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to McC's campaign manager, Rick Davis, who received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to while he has been McC's campaign manager.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1
Trillions were looted from our economy because the Rs allowed it. The Rs, including McC's campaign manager, are in the pockets of big money.
Without solutions, it is necessary to campaign with deception, misdirection, fear, smears, hypocrisy.
Attempts to hijack our political process with deceit and abuse of the trust of party loyalties are reasons I'm voting for Obama after 40 years of never voted for a Dem.
A 40
I know you want to run away from Obama and company, captured live without the spin of folks like you, but you cannot. It is no smear to present the man's own words except to those who wish to deny them.
Hear Obama and Clinton for yourself, in their own words with out the filter of someone elses opinion..
Bill Clinton says Democrats failure to allow Republicans to regulate Freddie and Fannie caused economic melt down.
so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE
Obama in this video, addressing his community activist work and his work representing ACORN in litigation against the banks and relating to the Community Reinvestment Act, and addressing the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as those actions relate to the destruction of our economy by causing the current real estate and subsequent financial crisis, states that, and I quote:
"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."
Acknowledging the catastrophe, but as apologist for the Democrats, Obama then offers this justification.
"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."
Yah, great idea. Economically unsound, but embraced by Obama. Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

???
And here is Obama again, stating
"And I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court-focused, I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that,"

2001 Chicago Public Radio Interview.
And here is Obama again in December 2007, promising a role in formulating policy during his transition if elected, despite saying he has no ties to this organization, Acorn

And here is a link to C-SPAN video clips of the Congressional hearings at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix Fannie and Freddie. See for yourself who said what.

One correction: at the end of the article it says, "The status of the race, however, could have a potential impact on California's Proposition 8, which seeks to protect the legal status of same-sex marriage.". In fact, a "yes" vote seeks to disallow a same-sex marriage.
Prop 8 will ban gay marriage and nullify the 11,000+ such existing marriages in the state since May 2008. The second statement "If Obama appears as though he's headed toward a landslide victory, crestfallen conservatives might not bother heading for the polls to vote against Prop 8." should be restated that yes is a vote to amend the constitution to ban gay marriage, a no vote would leave the constitution as is.
The statement "The status of the race, however, could have a potential impact on California's Proposition 8, which seeks to protect the legal status of same-sex marriage" is inaccurate. This proposition seeks to amend the California Constitution to add language specifically barring all marriages except those between one man and one woman.
Quick Correction to the mention of Prop 8 in the CA section: If conservatives are in fact crestfallen and don't show up to the polls, it would mean that they're not showing up to vote FOR Prop 8. Conservatives wants Prop 8 to pass in order to eliminate the existing same-sex marriage rights afforded to gays and lesbians. A NO vote for Prop 8 would ensure that the CA constitution remains unchanged. Thank you.
I'm with you Rube! If McCain, Rove and the Smear & Fear team can fool the American people into voting against their own self interests again, given the obvious result from the last two times, they deserve what they get. BTW I was for the old McCain till he went over to the dark side of the Republican Party (yes there is a good side) and bought into the same strategy that they used on him in 2000.
If it happens I guess it is time to join the Darwinist and fleece the sheep. What really bothers me is the contempt they have for the average voter. Most of the propaganda they put out is so obvious and not even original that I expect the majority to see through it this time after multiple exposures to it and the results.
This is what we should be watching for, the future of the world, in the next six months as Joe Biden has put it, with the coming international crises... God bless America, a deeper recession under Pelosi, Reid and Obama??? It is America's destiny, Joe Biden or Michelle Obama (following Hillary Clinton's footsteps) will become our future president. Very proud of America, the best nation in the world, with true democracy, family-values and freedom, and not the biggest well-fare system or more government-control, more regulations, as porposed by Barack Obama's extreme liberal socialism. The White House is built just for her, Michelle Obama. God bless America, why, just ask our founding-fathers, from George Washington, John Adams and Abraham Lincoln, as well as Ronald Reagan recently??
Funny how, despite Pennsylvania being such an important race, Newsweek took down their story on it yesterday after Obama???s comments about his plan to bankrupt the Coal Industry surfaced.
