Please read about the issues that matter before you vote. Just don't think change is going to do it. What is Obama going to do that will "change" things? The people who are against war....What about the innocent aborted babies that can be crying when they are delivered only to have their brains sucked out. Get a grip. Children are our future. Think before you vote!

    • Posted By: Wes916 @ 11/04/2008 12:52:02 PM

What about all the babies that are born that are unwanted....forced to live either a horrible childhood with a parent or parents that didn't want them in the first place; Possibly abused, abandoned or neglected. OR forced to live in Foster care or group homes sponsered by the States with taxpayer dollars. Do you think any child deserves that type of life? We should not force ignorant people to be parents and raise kids when they have no business doing so or require our government to be overburdoned just because someone believes that abortion is bad. Freedom of Choice.

Would you rather have a child that is born into the world with no parents to take care of it? Grant it, people should protect themselves; but do they no? So we walk around complaining about taxes going here and going there, taxes would be paying for the housing of these children who dont have parents to take care of them. Or even better for the mother's who you say shouldnt get an abortion, they keep the child, and then they get on government assistant...and guess what you r tax dollars pay for the assistance. So it's basically a lose- lose situation huh? How about this....every person who decides that they want an abortion we will turn them down and tell them to take the child to your doorstep and you r would care for them to give them. Dont get me wrong I am not saying that it is ok to go and get pregnant and "run" and have an abortion but some situations may call for that.

    • Posted By: tc1957 @ 11/04/2008 3:51:00 PM

So sorry you voted for BO, in the end you will be too. Bush has tried to pull us out of the mire that the Clinton administration created. Look back at your history and you'll see that McCain is the only way to go!!!

      • Posted By: Clinton Bad? @ 11/04/2008 4:38:00 PM

The Clinton years were unquestionably a time of progress, especially on the economy [...] Clinton's 1992 slogan, 'Putting people first,' and his stress on 'the economy, stupid,' pitched an optimistic if still gritty populism at a middle class that had suffered under Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. [...] By the end of the Clinton presidency, the numbers were uniformly impressive. Besides the record-high surpluses and the record-low poverty rates, the economy could boast the longest economic expansion in history; the lowest unemployment since the early 1970s; and the lowest poverty rates for single mothers, black Americans, and the aged.
-David Greenberg, a professor of history and media studies

The Clinton presidency was responsible for the following:

Average economic growth of 4.0 percent per year, compared to average growth of 2.8 percent during the previous years. The economy grew for 116 consecutive months, the most in history.

Creation of more than 22.5 million jobs???the most jobs ever created under a single administration, and more than were created in the previous 12 years. Of the total new jobs, 20.7 million, or 92 percent, were in the private sector.

Economic gains spurred an increase in family incomes for all Americans. Since 1993, real median family income increased by $6,338, from $42,612 in 1993 to $48,950 in 1999 (in 1999 dollars).

Overall unemployment dropped to the lowest level in more than 30 years, down from 6.9 percent in 1993 to just 4.0 percent in January 2001. The unemployment rate was below 5 percent for 40 consecutive months. Unemployment for African Americans fell from 14.2 percent in 1992 to 7.3 percent in 2000, the lowest rate on record. Unemployment for Hispanics fell from 11.8 percent in October 1992 to 5.0 percent in 2000, also the lowest rate on record.

Inflation dropped to its lowest rate since the Kennedy Administration, averaging 2.5 percent, and fell from 4.7 percent during the previous administration.

The homeownership rate reached 67.7 percent near the end of the Clinton administration, the highest rate on record. In contrast, the homeownership rate fell from 65.6 percent in the first quarter of 1981 to 63.7 percent in the first quarter of 1993.

The poverty rate also declined from 15.1 percent in 1993 to 11.8 percent in 1999, the largest six-year drop in poverty in nearly 30 years. This left 7 million fewer people in poverty than there were in 1993.

The surplus in fiscal year 2000 was $237 billion???the third consecutive surplus and the largest surplus ever.

Clinton worked with the Republican-led Congress to enact welfare reform. As a result, welfare rolls dropped dramatically and were the lowest since 1969. Between January 1993 and September 1999, the number of welfare recipients dropped by 7.5 million (a 53 percent decline) to 6.6 million. In comparison, between 1981-1992, the number of welfare recipients increased by 2.5 million (a 22 percent increase) to 13.6 million people.

        Responce?

I'll be the first to admit I would rather have been voting for Hillary, but I'd rather take my chances on Obama then the alternative. In my opinion, the Bush Adminstration has been one of the most dangerous Adminstrations in American political history. Sadly, I think a McCain / Palin Adminstration has the potential to be worse (I never thought I would be able to say that about anyone)! I live in PA and many conversations of the voters around me led me to believe that Obama is getting the majority of the voters. I'll give about 5% of the Republicans the benefit of the doubt and assume they're fiscal conservatives, but the other 95% of Republicans fall into one of to categories: 1. Evangelical Bible Thumpers OR 2. Racists.

Chile Goddess "nappy hair"? give me a break.
The point is many blacks are so happy to have a chance at an "african" for president and they
are spouting off about it. BO isn't really one and they need to know it. The blacks are the ones voting for skin color not issues.

    • Posted By: E.13 @ 11/04/2008 4:37:17 PM

That's stupid. I'm voting for BO because of his issues. I'm capable of reading and doing research....and seeing past his ethnicity. Besides that, Black's are primarily Democrats. Find another excuse for BO's future win.

I am so saddened by people who stand holding the American Flag and sing the National Anthem so proudly, yet don't believe in freedom for everyone. All of these comments about race, whose an American and who is not. None of us are true Americans except for the Native Americans whose land was stolen from underneath them by most of these people who are making these comments forefathers.
It is truely a sad day in America. No wonder other counrties hate us some much. We can't get our stuff together but we want to tell them what to do with their's.

Simple as that it was a colonization era in the history of the world. while we're at it lets give GB back to the scots lets give germany spain and the old southern USSR back to the turks and china back to India

Is McCain a brave war vet? Sure! Does that qualify him for president? NO!! Wars aren't fought with their leaders on the front line anymore. This country doesn't need a brave president. We need someone with INTELLIGENCE!!....that would be OBAMA!

Why don't you give the resons for why Obama is the guy to vote for--that would be a much more affective argument other than "that's why I don't go to church!" Why is that even relevant?

I find it funny how you sit here at your computer trying to push your opinions on everyone else when the whole point of election is for us to go out discreetly and vote for the candidate that we as an individual choose!!! who you guys think may be the better candidate others may not, voting is supposed to be discreet, our priviledge do vote. don't push your opinions on others it is their right to vote for whom they feel is the better candidate... so sit back relax and be proud to be american.............

If McCain were Democratic and shared the same view and ideals as I, he would get my vote. If Obama were a Republican, I would vomit. Not about race. It's about how my view of the world lines up w/the candidates view.

  • Posted By: beckster2 @ 11/04/2008 4:33:37 PM

Gretchin-your comments are extremely ignorant. Where are your facts? Did you even get out of Elementary School or the Trailer Park for that matter?

  • Posted By: gigi63 @ 11/04/2008 3:47:17 PM

you people who talk about the Bush administration are so uniformed. The problems with government started way before Bush got into office. A lot of it started with the Clinton administration. Clinton caused 9/11.
Once again, Americans voting for an "Idol" instead of a person who knows how to get things
    done.
What excuse is the people going to use when Obama fails? We are our own worst enemies. Sad, very sad.

been an uproar and a riot. I think it is important for every person of every race to learn about the history of the each of the different races. The only way we can grow as a nation is to understand each other and sympathize with each other. Please know that I am far from racist. Like I said, I am white but I also married a black man and have three children, two of whom are mixed (my oldest is from a previous relationship and she is white). My hope for the future is that people of every race will come to respect one another regardless of skin tone. I hear people say they won't vote for Obama because he is black... HE'S HALF WHITE TOO! And what does that matter anyway? When he got into politics in Chicago (a primarily black area) he was not black enough. Now that he is running for the presidency he is not white enough. I sincerely hope that his race is not the deciding factor for anyone whether it be racists who won't vote for him because he is black or blacks who are voting for him just because he is black. If you sincerely agree with his views... VOTE FOR HIM. I personally do not agree with his views. I think that McCain is the smarter choice. He has more experience, has shown that he is willing to die for this country, he is for big business (when you give tax breaks to big business they make money, expand, and open up more jobs... more jobs=better economy) and he is against abortion (the murder of innocent children). Many people think that it will be a re-run of the last 8 years with Bush but look at Congress (the people who really make the decisions)... they are primarily DEMOCRAT. Besides that .... Bush is STILL in office and gas prices are coming down. The state of the economy is not poor because of anything Bush did. Besides if McCain croaks there is always that sassy Sarah Pailn to take over and we all know she kicked some butt in Alaska. So take it or leave it that's my opinion... we all have one.

    • Posted By: MSW721 @ 11/04/2008 4:33:26 PM

Wow! Palin as president is scarier than McCain as president. She's already a lying corrupt person,

    • Posted By: E.13 @ 11/04/2008 4:29:55 PM

You don't find it convenient that gas prices started going down the month before the election? Kind of sneaky on Bush's part.

  • Posted By: AshleyC1805 @ 11/04/2008 4:33:09 PM

It's is also amazing how people bring in the fact that Obama is black and that he is Musslim and the fact the McCain served in the military, what I want to know is what this has anything to do with running the country, because if you look past everything and see what they are trying to change, it seems to me that Obama has better views and will change the economy that seems to be going into the shitter because of Bush.

  • Posted By: votetoday @ 11/04/2008 3:30:18 PM

Giving a child to a childless couple? Do all childless couples deserve children?
If Roe vs. Wade is ever overturned, we Americans will see a dramatic rise in child abuse, child neglect, child endangerment, etc. No man should ever be able to tell a woman what to do with her body ever. Especially in our free country. Freedom means freedom....freedom to choose. Vote to choose.

    • Posted By: E.13 @ 11/04/2008 4:32:51 PM

Not to mention a rise in child abandonment.

    • Posted By: wcmartin @ 11/04/2008 3:36:29 PM

You are right...no one should ever be told what to do with their own bodies. Its all about choice, right? Why then are you opposed to giving that male or female you are aborting the right to choose what happens with their lives and their bodies?

  • Posted By: HBenet @ 11/04/2008 4:09:08 PM

Its amazing the hatred being expressed on this blog. Primarily by Republicans!! I am a Democrat leaning Republican but not after reading the filth expressed here. I think I want to remain loyal to my party in this enth hour. I watched the debates and the rallys closely and was decided on McCain till I came across this UGLY blog. Atleast the democratic candidtae has shown good temper, good judgement, stability, good naturedness and a charisma. These are essentails in a leader whom we can be proud of. And then the tone of this blog is upsetting. I don't want to be counted a hot tempered, rude republican.

Obama I noticed NEVER hit out at Palin for her disfunctional family and the fact that her Husband harbored hateful feelings for America untill very recent. But the republicans have attacked him on every front. They have played a dirty, mud slinging game and I can see why after reading this blog. Thats for saving my vote and continue with your nasty comments so a few more Democrats who may be leaning Republican wake up and see the light. ( like I did)

And one last comment....MCCain is not God. So all you self professing Christians learn to turn to God for your safety and the safety of your country. Because if not for God man can do nothing. And since when did 5 years in prison and enlisting in the army become such a needed credential for being President. Give McCain full honor as a war hero and let him retire in peace and honor. We need young new blood to run this country.

    • Posted By: american76 @ 11/04/2008 4:32:46 PM

Please remember during all the debates and rally's when Sen. Obama refused to address issues and laughed-off Sen. McCain's remarks. No response. Sen. McCain addressed Sen. Obama's remarks when given the opportunity.
Please dismiss the "hatred" and "mudslinging" and ask youself a couple of questions. Does 2 years as a senator qualify one to become president of this nation. Sen. Obama has no leadership qualifications. sure he looks good on camera, has an engaging personality, and as you mentioned, "charisma". So do a lot of car salesmen. His lack of leadership at any level and political inexperience has to be questioned. While Sen. McCain has many years of political experince, war experience, and a great understanding of foreign policy. He's much more qualified to be President and Commander in Chief. Sen. Obama will continue to gain experience and perhaps have the opportunity to lead later in his career. I think now is the time for Sen. McCain. He's ready. AND everyone please, stop the comparisons of Sen. McCain to Pres. Bush. He's not Pres. Bush and he will make a positive change. I believe it.
