    In God We Trust was first printed on our money in 1957. Was the US godless up until then? Were our Founders atheists? Did the country go to hell in a handbasket in the interim?

    If you want to have God all-pervasive in government, perhaps you should live somewhere else, say Iran?

      "In God We Trust" was printed on our money in the 1836 is when the motto was approved.

      "One Nation Under God" was placed in our pledge in 1957 and approved by the Supreme court I believe in 2007.

      May want to get your facts right, but I guess that is not a requirement from the left.

    I am a 30 year old woman that feels blessed to have the opportunity to vote in this election and participate in the meaning of "CHANGE". I have done alot of research on both presidential candidates. And to all those claiming to be Christian I ask you this...When did it become okay to role play back to Common Law? All says this transition would be okay until we are there. Religion has it's place, and I am a firm Christian but as also a law student I don't believe it should be within the government. My vote after much research has gone to OBAMA, we live in realistic times and must be honest and leave no shell unturned because our decision today could essentially effect the lives of our children to come. John McCain is elderly and unfortunately has had the trials of dealing with and surviving cancer in recent years. This made me look to the VP ticket...can you McCain supporters honestly tell me you feel comfortable with Sarah Palin running the United States. Because I cannot convincingly say I feel that way. Irregardless of how everyone has voted I wish all of you the best and hope that this nation gets the "CHANGE" it's entitled to.

    Mark my words....If Obama is president, then good hard working Americans will suffer. Hell, why don't we all just quit work and live off of the government? Obama is an "Idol" and nothing else. He's not even American! HIs wife didn't even admit that she was proud to be an American until her husband was elected the Democratic candidate.

    I fear for this country.
    Pretty soon we will all suffer the wrath of Obama and his underground associates and middle eastern allies.

    What has America come to? For eight years we watched a dumb person run this country and America still don't want an intelligent person in the White House. America has dumby down and want ignorant people in the White House. Palin is so dumb she didn't know she was being pranked. McCain is so dumb he don't know what countries border Iraq, nor do he know the difference between Sunni and Shia. He wants to conduct 2 wars?

    No matter how we vote Obama is going to win, the goverment will see to that because if he don't then we will have a war in our own country because people will be saying he didn't win because of the color of his skin and then there goes the race war i say no to Obama he is nothing but trouble just like the rest of the lying so called politicians

    Im 14 and i can already see that the problems around us continue to circle, i can already see that both candiates are just giving us what we want to hear, but in the end all that matters is who is going to be there ? Who is going to be there when we go into a even worse depression, whos going to be there when we get attacked, whos going to be there when we run out of natrual resources. In the end it doesn matter how old or young someone is, it doesnt matter if you were a prisoner of war or if you have a pastor that has wierd believes it only matter if your going to carry our nation to the highest expection.

    My husband and I make about 50-60K a year, Obama will help us not HURT us like McCain will. How dare you sit there and tell me we are lazy. I GUARANTEE you, YOU would NEVER be able to do the work my husband does, you wouldn't last even a half a day.
    Go to the mailbox and collect your dividend check, that's your idea of HARD work, gimme a break. "don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining".

    You stereotype me as a Wall Street tycoon. Very funny, I work a full time job as a graphic designer, and my wife runs the daily affairs of a small home based sign business that we have built. Oh, and she also works 3rd shift in a factory. We don't need the money from her job to survive, neither the sign business. We do it to provide a better future for our three boys. It is good that you and your husband work, but you better watch out. You fall in that 40K+ bracket too that Obama has supported taxing more. I'm just saying to all those out there getting a handout right now, that if you would work to better your situation, you could. Obama has persuaded you that the problem is anybody you can say has made it including yourself. So as far as doing your husbands job. Bring it on. I've worked about any type of physical and non physical job you can get. That's why I have what he wants to redistribute.

      I'm not going to knock your work ethic, but both you and your husband chose your professions. Teachers, construction workers, retail workers, etc. all know how much money is in those careers before they CHOSE to go into them. I have no sympathy for someone because the CHOSE a low paying career. More power to the people who do. But don't try and make excuses about how "tight" things are or about how the middle class needs help. If money is important to you, you and your husband should have taken different career paths. For the record, I'm not calling anyone lazy. You made your bed, time to sleep in it.

        If we all decided to chose high paying position, or even just had the equal opportunity to aquire an education that would allow the the type of high paying jos you speak of, then who would build your house, clean your house, operate your business, take away your trash, teach your children, put out a fire in your home, come to your aid if you were burglarized? The middle class IS the backbone of this country and the consumers of your big businesses. If we stop consuming because we have no money you will ultimately suffer the consequences. To snub your nose at hard working Americans because of greed is irresponsible and will be the downfall of this great country.

      I think almost everyone knows by now that under the Obama tax plan a person making $40 K would get a tax cut not a tax increase as you have stated, If anyone wants to know if they will receive a tax cut just go to Obama website and use the tax calculator there because much of what is posted on these boards in incorrect.

      I don't know where you get your info. Under Obama, if you earn over $250K you will see your taxes "GO BACK to what they were when Clinton was Pres., that is UP, you will pay more than you do now if you earn over 250k. The bracket between 150-200k you will basically see NO CHANGE in your taxes at all, it is pretty much a wash, no gain, no loss. If you earn UNDER the 150k a year, YOUR TAXES WILL GO DOWN, that is just the FACTS.
      McCain will tax any healthcare your wifes business gives you, (the money you pay PRE TAX will now be Taxable income) that includes any healthcare you get from your employment. Do you know how much your employer pays for your healthcare? Add the Gross amt. paid to your tax liability.
      Obama will give your wife's business a 50% tax credit paid out on healthcare, same for your employer, they will get a 50% tax credit for the monies paid for YOUR healthcare.
      I didn't assume you were a wall street tycoon, just that you must make over the 250K a year or why on earth would you vote for someone AGANIST your best interest. I choose "dividends" because those folks pay the least amount of taxes for money NOT EARNED.
      Just do your homework and not just spewing the LIES you have been told for far too long now.
      I notice you had nothing to say about the FACT that I was unemployed for a year thanks to a republican who fired me simply because I was "too political". Not based on job performance or any other factor, other than I was the ONLY DEM in that office. I collected my UNENJOYMENT check for 6 months out of that 1 year, then I was left out in the cold. I looked for work everyday, but because BUSH drove our economy into the ground, nobody was hiring.
      8 years ago, gas was $1.64 a gallon here in Oregon, look where we are now (last couple of weeks excluded). I simply could not survive another 1 year of Bush/McCain economics, let alone another 4 years.

Healthcare, schools, job security, homeownership...all of those things are major challenges in my life right now. As a married mother of 3 and a homeowner its scary so yes, I will vote for whomever makes the most sense and will make life for myself as well as other "middle class" americans better. I see no color here. I only see good common since. Yall are so damn scared that someone other than one of "you" will get in that seat and actually make a POSITIVE difference for EVERYONE! Not just blacks...dumb a$$es
