Why are we being besieged with information like this in virtually all U.S. media outlets . . . THE DAY BEFORE ELECTION DAY, when nothing can be done about it? When we fix the voting machine problem, let's fix the U.S. Media problem while we're at it. They screwed up the Iraq War coverage with their belated eurekas and now their aggravating the voting problem with yet another belated eureka and disclosure scenario. I have serious doubts as to whether this society has any learning curve whatsoever. This moron Newsweek login gauntlet for airing views can't even remember my Username and Password. It's imbeciles everywhere you look.

Is it strange that the influential Grandma in Barry Obamas life did not see too much of him after his teen years note photos also of Barry and grandma(Toot) kind of young dont you think . Can we tell how much she meant to him by how much time he spent with her as an adult ? My brothers keeper huh if he does not help or take care of his own family how can we believe he will help or take care of any of the rest of us, Oh PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/03/2008 11:42:39 PM

I think this campaign is the most time McCain's spent with his family in years, your analysis is flawed.

  • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/03/2008 11:35:42 PM

Yes the system is flawed but we all have to agree that it needs to be improved and tell our representatives in government. I worry about the folks who can't or don't vote since they may be fired for missing work waiting in line for hours, or they can't afford to lose hours of their pay. Election Day should be a holiday just like any other all other business is closed holiday.

The right to vote is an important priviledge afforded to each American and thereby we should be given as many options as possible in order to carry out that act of democracy. EVERY state should allow absentee, internet, electronic, or whatever accurate and efficient means of voting is available for wide use. EVERYstate should also consider having early voting to ease the long delays common on election day which may prevent citizens the chance of exercising their right to vote. Why not put barcodes on state Driver's licenses, state ID cards, or Voter's Registration cards which can then be scanned onto electronic voting machines which give a receipt similar to an ATM? We could call it an AVM., and there could be a camara to deter any impropriaties. for conveniencethey can be permanently placed at most US Post Offices, state DMV locations, all federal buildings, and even public libraries. Voting should be so much easier than how we currently make it out to be for our nation's electorate...Vote on Nov 4th.

I agree greatmidwest and all people should be allowed to vote even those who are ill informed, uneducated or poor--that is democracy!

Nart, thank you for your reply, but I am an independent thinker (not a subscriber to propoganda). 9/11 is not the point. That was just a WARNING sign.
This is not about revenge, it is about the security of civilization.
Go ahead and leave Radical countries to do whatever they will. You may be horribly surprised at what happens to planet Earth.

  • Posted By: Nart @ 11/03/2008 9:54:08 PM

andrw645: you are buying into the propaganda the GOP and the McCain/Palin campaign is putting out there. What will we do when we are still fighting a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 in the first place that is costing us Billions of dollars a month? McCain will keep us in Iraq and further bankrupt our country.

Do you really know what kid of CHANGE you're asking for?
I am afraid for this country if Obama is elected.
Who is he? REALLY, WHO IS HE?? Who are his family and friends, other than his wife and kids?
What does he really stand for?
How will he help our failing economy by taxing businesses who provide jobs?
Will our unfortunate, lower income families benefit from a tax cut when they cannot find a JOB because those companies will have their taxes raised during a recession??
What will happen when North Korea, Iran, etc.
, decide to start building REAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS?
Don't kid yourself, they will do it.

    What will Obama do.

Will you trust him with the security of America, and quite possibly, the human race?

    I AM AFRAID.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

If the 'distribution' of tax cuts/credits have not worked for the past 8 years, why is McCain so scared to try something different? Under Idiot Bush, corporations like Exxon were allowed to gouge prices at the gas pumps so shareholders could pocket record profits which obviously were NOT stuck back into the economy. Rich individuals got nice big fat checks back which were also pocketed and NOT stuck back into the economy. Why can't the government under Obama step in and equalize the distribution? What is wrong with ROBIN HOOD? Schools in Texas participate in the Robin Hood system.

McCain thinks jobs will be created by continuing Bush's corporation tax cuts. After 8 years of Bush giving corporations tax cuts, where are the jobs? They are overseas like in India, not in America. Why can't all the call centers in India be moved to Small-Town America? Why would McCain continue Bush's tax cuts for corporations when it hasn't worked for 8 years? - Typical GOP support of Big Business.

GOP's have to quit crying and whining about the media being at fault for McCain's negative coverage. If McCain doesn't want negative publicity, then HE should NOT have been negative towards Obama, old John created his own negative publicity. Because McCain considered changing parties after Bush and Fallwell degraded him and Cindy so bad in 2000, I was shocked when McCain became so brutally and without merit negative towards Obama. McCain sold his soul when he aligned himself with the very people who caused him to lose the GOP nominee in 2000 by using dirty underhanded tactics. McCain has no right to slam someone else's character when he has lied at his job and he committed adultery while married to his first wife.

t's a good thing for McCain he isn't a Liberal or a Democrat (even though he thought of changing parties after Bush and Fallwell degraded him and his wife so bad in 2000) or he would have to defend his adultery actions during his first marriage because the GOP's, especially the right wing fanatics, would plaster his infidelity all over the place. Republicans would make sure everyone knew McCain's character is that of someone who cheats on his wife. Same goes for Palin, the GOP's especially the right-wing fanatics would have her pregnant unwed minor teenage daughter plastered all over the Internet. The GOP's would also say if she can't keep her own house in order, for example not knowing where her daughter is and what she is doing or not knowing her husband is drinking and driving, then she has no business being VP let alone President. That is just how the GOP's would act if the tables were turned.

The media is bad only when it doesn't report in favor of the GOP's views. The media coverage is always about soldiers supporting the corrupt Bush war in Iraq, where is the FAIR coverage for the soldiers who realize their idiot Commander in Chief lied and started a corrupt war? There are lots of soldiers who feel that way, I have talked to them. Where is their coverage? Where is the media coverage about our military women who are getting raped by the gang-bangers who have enlisted in the military? Bush Administration keeping that quiet and bullying the news networks, like when Dan Rather got fired for simply inquiring about the gaps in Bush's national guard records. Why are gang-bangers enlisting in the military? - who else wants to fight a corrupt war? How are gang-bangers being able to enlist? - military requirements have been dropped because new recruits and RE-enlisting numbers have plummeted.

For Bush to start a war off lies and not be held accountable, furthermore then getting RE-elected after all his lies, corruption, and ever embarrassingly stupid speeches, is truly beyond comprehension and a warped sense of Patriotism. Along comes McCain who supports Bush's corrupt war and wants to become president - unbelievable. A true insult to the service of veterans especially the vets who never returned home. The audacity to have a 3rd Bush term!

Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld - Weapons of Mass Destruction, Weapons of Mass Destruction Well, where are the Weapons of Mass Destruction? You get ONE guess where the Weapons of Mass Destruction are NOT located. The basis for why we invaded Iraq yet there are NO Weapons of Mass Destruction, yet WE are still there. We got Weapons of Mass Destruction drilled into our heads by those idiots because of all the media coverage those idiots got. Biased liberal media coverage - You have got to be kidding!

  • Posted By: jlgab @ 11/03/2008 7:27:56 PM

McCain says we can't just get out of Iraq yet Bush pulled the majority of our troops out of Afghanistan-the forgotten REAL war- just like that to start his corrupt war in Iraq which he LIED about, hence, CORRUPT war. At what point does a CORRUPT war like Iraq become honorable? - Never, corrupt is corrupt, there will NEVER be an honorable win in Iraq. McCain doesn't care about the cost it will take to win Iraq, be it money or lives, all McCain wants is to say we won. I'd rather see our troops alive and out of Iraq than any stupid 'win' title. Again, corrupt is corrupt, there will NEVER be an honorable win in Iraq.

For a vet like McCain to condone and support the corrupt war in Iraq that Bush started off lies, is beyond pathetic. All McBush cares about is getting a win tally mark, if he truly wanted an honorable win and if he cared that our troops were dying for a corrupt war, all he would have to do is just withdraw. A change would be for someone like Obama to stand up and do the right thing for once and get our troops out of Iraq.

The presidential race is so close because the issues are not important to people anymore, just voting party lines is what is important. How could an American with any patriotism condone sending American jobs overseas? That is exactly what Bush and McCain support. How can a vet like McCain support a corrupt Bush war in Iraq? How can a vet like McCain care more about a stupid 'win' tally mark than getting our troops out of the corrupt Bush war in Iraq? I'd rather see our troops alive and out of Iraq than any stupid 'win' title. If honor, honesty, and integrity ever had anything to do with how a person voted, Bush would have never been RE-elected.

Obama said he denounced and left the radical Trinity United Church but it???s not true!!

Obama has Trinity United pastor Rev Ottis Moss accompanying him on his campaign!!

"Comment: More and more disturbing stuff on Obama's past and his real intentions are just starting to surface.

As I predicted over a year ago ..... Obama is a big fraud and America is being duped !!"

Oh? Such as? How about some specifics, instead of an empty blanket statement?

Here are some specifics on your guy... McCain has publicly preached multiple times that he was running for President for the "good of the country." But read his memoir... he confesses (in his own voice, no less, in the book-on-tape) that he did it purely out of self-interest, for personal gain. Who would want an ambitious, selfish liar like that in the White House?

  • Posted By: Libricrat @ 11/03/2008 3:35:51 PM

This is the kind of thing that does more to make me think the end is near, more than anything else. In a country that pretty much invented democracy in the modern world, sound standardized virtually foolproof elections should be the absolute without a doubt top priority. If we cannot get this much right in 232 years then, we are screwed on everything else.
