Now that we have murdered all these babies that get in our way , why not do away with mom and dad that are getting old and giving me a problem. I might have to take care of them and that will cost me time and money and get in the way of things I want to do. I have my rights to take care of me you know. How about that neighbor that is a real pain. No one likes him, we would be better off without him. I got to go now, I have to get to my weekly appointment with my shrink. Why do I have all these problems, it must be GOD'S fault.

Reasonable men and women know that they can't have everything their own way. We can still stand firm in what we believe and fight for it, too, but we have to weigh all the factors and make a decision for what/who will do the most good for the most people.

For Christians who have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, rather than the Pope or the bishop or whatever, can cast a vote based on reason, compassion and personal intelligence all God given qualities).

Last, but certainly not least, intelligent and compassionate people who are longing for unity and peace do not have to call each other names and present their arguments in mean-spirited, vile, and degrading rhethoric. The lack of civility in these forums hurts my heart and it most certainly hurts our country. Come together people!

This is getting old. For crying out loud if you want all these unborn to be born than you guys pay every red cent from day to 18 years of age don't ask the state, or the mother, or the government to put up the money you do it. Do you understand that if you make abortion illegal you are going make women seek the back alley? No you don't because all care about is the unborn being born. How many women, teens and the unborn are going to die becuase of this, a lot all because of your one side beliefs.Do get off the religious soap box, we all know what the bible says. Enough is enough. This is something that is private and should be kept that way, you, the government, the church nor anyone else has any business in telling you want to do. Get it, keep your god damn nose out of my business!!

Experience is only pertinent when it is combined with good judgement. McCain's poor judgement has been apparent since the day in Vietnam when he heard the warning bell that a missile was on his tail. Instead of diving and rolling like he was trained to do, he stayed on course and got shot down. McCain's poor judgement is on display again now, in his choice of Palin as running mate. Both of these cases were "maverick" judgement. And in both cases, the cowboy maverick bet wrong.

Nins, i love you baby, but this one is a little bit unfair. Combat is a very scary and confusing thing. You can't ding McCain on judgement just because he got shot down.

For picking Sarah Palin - yes. For hiring all of GW's cronies to help with his campaign - yes. For selling his honor and integrity for a shot at the White House - yes.

But McCain did serve and he did put his life on the line for this country. To ding him for that is a little harsh and unfair.

I'm repulsed by Obama and his socialist ideas. He is for killing babies, even ones that have been born while trying to abort. Doesn't that make them babies, even by the extreme liberal standards? And what did he say to justify that? They're just "temporarily" alive. Aren't we all as humans, "temporarily" alive? And to everyone who's going to get defense at the "socialism" word I threw out there; I have lived under dictatorship and communism. I have had many family members killed by unjust and corrupt officials. Obama's socialist ideas come straight out of marxism. What happened when Russia tried socialism? Millions were killed and their entire economy was destroyed. The German's tried it and the same thing happened to them. Wisen up people. Bar divine intervention, Obama is going to win this election. And why is he going to win? Because of liberal sorry excuses of human life that have it so good in America, all they do is whine and complain about every little thing. I stand by Bush and the war. Remember after the terrorists attacked us at 9/11? No one said no to war then. In fact we didn't even rush into the war. It took us over a year to finally do it. I was not born in America but I came here a number of years ago. I love this country more than any other in the world, it is truly the best place to live but I am concerned, to say the least, about our future if Obama becomes our next president. My prayers tonight will be that God help and protect this country in whatever manner he chooses to do so. I will also be voting in the morning. We will soon know what we have to deal with...

And I am repulsed by your ignorance. At least make an attempt to educate yourself on the issues instead of blindly accepting the fear mongering rhetoric from the republicans.

thourlon.... you suggest we move on from abortion topics. Perhaps the new topic will include euthanasia of anyone cripped, or old, or slightly imperfect ......
When a Presidential CANDIDATE is VEHEMENTLY AGAINST resuscitation of a child who LIVES a PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION, then I consider that ''NEWSWORTHY'' and subject for discussion.
He seems to have a strange detachment for the ''meek'', which is suggested by his voting RECORD.

    • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 11/03/2008 7:05:59 PM

You lose your credibility when you start making silly statements about euthenasia and try to link them to abortion - stick to the main topic.

We all vote for candidates based on what is important to us. Personally, there are many things that are more important to me than abortion, and those things are driving my decision.

But I realize there are others for whom abortion is very important issue, and if that is the case, then you should vote accordingly.

      • Posted By: benluclar @ 11/03/2008 7:17:21 PM

zig-zag.... I am sorry that you have missed my point; hence, given up on my credibility.
What I am trying to project here is that the word ABORT when used in the context of pro-choice supporters is appearing to be that they do not believe there IS A LIFE there. After all, they say, it is not a baby, just a fetus.
My argument is really not about euthanasia, but only to portray that word as something they understand very well when it applies to THEIR BODIES.
That is the difference, since I have apparently not made myself clear. What's in a word, when applied to a more precious to them understanding, is my point here.
I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I would like to be clear on this.

        • Posted By: Zig Zag @ 11/04/2008 1:01:08 AM

Actually, I understood it, but it is a bad argument. Whether life begins a conception is a point for debate. To try and compare it to a hypothetical that that is an absolute detracts from your point.

I'm a Christian, and I've actually bothered to read the Bible. From the old testament prophets to the most overtly hell-threatening statements of Jesus; condemnation is always greatest against those who have who ignore, not just overtly oppress, the poor and needy. But the Fundamentalist movement doesn't care about the poor and oppressed. They care about power and destroying anyone different from themselves. So they doctored up this lie about protecting fetuses, and now cells. This allows even their more moral followers to feel like their actually serving good, while all the while voting in fascist theocracy, war-mongers and stripping the poor and minorities of all protection. God gave each one of us reason and a conscience. Mindlessly voting anti-choice willfullly rejects the first and shows an appalling lack of the second.

    • Posted By: gabber @ 11/03/2008 8:24:16 PM

Calling yourself a Christian does not validate your opinion when it expressly opposes God's word with regard to the premature end of a pregnancy even accidentally (see Exod 20)

      • Posted By: focus123 @ 11/04/2008 12:24:51 AM

Against-Ignorance ... I don't have a desire to destroy anyone. And I genuinely care for the unborn children of this nation. I never gave the abortion issue much thought honestly, until my sisters started having children. When you look at a newborn baby, it is clearly a living human child. I know raising children is a ton of work, but I can't imagine killing one of them in the womb. Abortion is clearly the killing of a child. I'm not condemning or judging anyone. I'm just stating an obvious fact. There is very little difference between a newly born baby and a baby at 4 1/2 months gestation. It is a baby. And abortion kills that baby. Less than 1% of all abortions are to preserve the life of the mother. That means the other 99+% of abortions are an elective procedure. Choosing to kill a baby is wrong. Period.

Do these people know that making abortion illegal will not prevent it? The rates of abortion in countries were it is illegal are as high as or even higher than US, especially in third world countries. Add to this the deaths of many women because the unsanitary conditions and their children who are then left orphans because their mothers had an abortion in clandestine centers or were so desperate they did it themselves using horrifying measures. As a Christian and pro-life mother I wish that it would be as easy as electing a President that condemns abortion. Even if he could make it illegal, which is most likely not the case, it will only take the issue out of our sight and control rather than fixing it. It will be dealt as the other social problems we pretend to ignore, prostitution, illegal drugs, etc. I support Barack Obama because he demonstrated that he understands that women don???t come to that decision easily. It would be better if we Christians stop using religion to condemn others and instead spread more love around and really help this country be a better place were women can have opportunities to make better decisions.

    • Posted By: focus123 @ 11/04/2008 12:14:50 AM

Making abortion is not the full answer. But it is part of the answer. If Marijuana became legal, would it's use go up or down? Fear of breaking the law alone would prevent many abortions. How has Senator Obama demonstrated that he understands women? Read the book "Empty Arms". It describes the plight of post-abortive women. Depression, suicide, anorexia, multiple failed relationships, fear and isolation is the NORM for post-abortive women. If Obama understood women, he would be discussing the very real pain these women experience. And let's not forget that a significant percentage of these "women" getting abortions are 14 - 17 year old girls, many without parental consent. Does Obama really understand what's it like to be a 16 year old girl facing an abortion decision?

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

ObamaYesWeCan is a McCain supporter. He poses as an Obama supporter and posts nasty comments designed to make Obama supporters look bad. He used to give his web address, and when you went to his website it was clear that he supports McCain.

Not to mention, OYWC, that "Joe the Plumber" is old news. You have re-posted this one thousands of times in the past two weeks. At least write something new. We're bored out of our minds with this re-run.

I'm an Obama supporter and I wish Joe the Plumber well.

Livy wrote 2000 years ago that a, "Great state is either at war with an external enemy, or it's at war with itself." Today, we're in two wars, and we might find ourselves in Pakistan or even in Iran in the not too distant future.

If the Republicans had been a bit more up on this kind of stuff, they would have anticipated that the old wedge issues dividing Americans wouldn't gain any traction this time around.

It's because just like Bush, McCain wouldn't do anything about it. R v. W will never be over turned and I couldn't be happier about it. I warms my heart to see religious ideals crushed under the heel of logic and reason.

Actually, whatever your opinion is of abortion, Roe vs WAade was a bad decision. It was a massive federal intrusion of the federal government on the rights of states to make their own value judgements when it comes to moral issues. Also, it found rights in the Constitution that don't exist.

The problem with Obama is a simple one. One association does not a radical make. But in Obama's case, the list of left-wing radical mentors and associates is seemingly endless, (Davis, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi , etc., etc.) with a new revelation practically every day. With that trend, a picture begins to emerge, and that picture is that Obama is as steeped, not in just left-wing political thought, but in radical left-wing economic and race ideology, to the same extent that Pat Robertson was steeped in the ideology of the radical Religious Right. I would not have voted for Pat Robertson for dog catcher, and for similar reasons, I will not vote for Obama.

not-fooled-by-slick-talking-charlatans ..... Yes, you are correct. Not everyone is fit to be a parent, nor does one need to reproduce for a fulfilling life. That is not in question, nor is the fact that there is forced entry in much of life and this could perhaps be a case of one of those.
However, there are many answers for that comment, and I think, unless you live in a tree, are well aware of all of them, so there is no need for that here.
What does need addressed, however, is the thoughts projected on this page from people who believe that it is ''optional'' at ''any time'', making it not only TRENDY, but ACCEPTABLE.
    Not so.
I will say again what you may not have seen earlier posted: perhaps at some point you become debilitated, age-ravaged or deemed otherwise unsuitable by a government which is TOTALLY and EXCLUSIVELY LIBERAL in its decisions -- President, Congress, Senate, Supreme Court. If this type of legislation decides to ABORT YOU -- or otherwise euthanise YOUR body -- will you then believe in ''freedom of choice'', ''our law'' and will you ''accept'' their decision?
Any logical person will give the obvious answer and be horrified that it is NOT optional.
People need to THINK about this.

    • Posted By: not-fooled-by-slick-talking-charlatans @ 11/03/2008 10:51:05 PM

I can understand your desire to connect euthanasia to your argument to illustrate the sanctity of human life. But I will also point out that the legal freedom to make a decision about one's body is not the same as government enforcement of making a decision against one's will. The passing of Roe vs. Wade did not make the government "big brother" to force women to end pregnancies. There were no police officers dragging helpless women from their homes to health clinics. To me, your choice of words appear paranoid, but that is only my opinion. I do not feel the need to change your mind from your position. I wish it were as easy as just expecting people to use birth control responsibly if those having sex were not trying to become pregnant. But, as I stated earlier, not all sex is consentual. If a woman becomes pregnant because she was raped (or in any other way not able to give her consent), her reproductive rights should
never be altered. And for those who think this is a rare incident, they have been "living in a tree". As for euthanasia, my family has had that discussion already. We have living wills. We will exercise our freedoms up until our last breath on this earth in ways that suit us. I would not begrudge your rights to do the same.

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" Obama unintentionally revealed that he really is as radical as his early political mentors and acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi etc., (gee, there sure seem to be a lot of them) and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Now there is absolute proof. In 2001, Obama, the "community organizer" turned legislator, said in an interview:

"And I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court-focused, I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that,"

    2001 Chicago Public Radio Interview.

Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Indeed, some democrats are publically saying as much. See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating essentially that Democrats in Congress intend to greatly raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJGnSAlqjoU

    See http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/23617.html

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

The democrats failed social engineering policies in the housing market are what brought us to ruin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr1M1T2Y314&feature=related
Even Bill Clinton says so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE
Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.

I am vehemently pro-life, but I am TIRED of this debate. I understand that most people in America don't agree with me, and I realize that the MOST we can hope for is getting Roe overturned, which probably won't result in outlawing abortions. Sure, some states will outlaw it, but many others won't. It would take a constitutional amendment to ban abortion nationwide, and that just isn't going to happen. We won the 2nd amendment argument, but we lost this one. Time to move on.

    • Posted By: gabber @ 11/03/2008 8:39:49 PM

Don't believe that, a majority of people when confronted with the facts on abortion tend to lean towards the pro life side of things, unfortunately many who are outspoken tend to lose the argument for the rest of us by their unreasonable and uneducated ramblings.
