This author, like so many others, still refuses to acknowledge the anti-abortion position, and thus mocks it unfairly. There are simply no rationalizations that justify voting for what you believe to be the slaughter of millions of innocents per year. Combine all willful deaths by other (American) means, including murder AND war, and you don't approach the number of abortions in a year. And even then, murdered already-born have far more ability to defend themselves. This Lisa Miller is nuts if she thinks that a candidate who supports abortion but also pours a few more dollars into government programs for toddlers can compare to an abortion opponent in the mind of a person who considers an aborted baby a person. This should be very, very easy to understand, but many people still choose not to see it. What we have here is a concerted effort to sabotage true debate about personhood vs non-personhood by sweeping it under the rug with these diversions.

It is assumed by this article that only the religious are pro-life. This is simply not true. There are a number of atheists and agnostics and non-religious persons who simply cannot swallow the idea of abortion, most notably those children who were born because abortion was illegal or restricted in some way. Knowing your parents considered it and being grateful for a law restricting it goes a long way in a pro-lifer's mind, regardless of religious preference.

Excellent comment. A thought that needs to be put ''out there'' for others to think about.

Likeitis .... perhaps at some point you become debilitated or age-ravaged,
or are just plain unsuitable in ways our NEW laws of a LIBERAL President,
Congress, Senate and Supreme Court deem you to be.
When they choose to ABORT YOU at that point, will you still be pro-choice.
Will this STILL be ''freedom of choice'', ''our law'', and will you ''accept'' it?
    I wonder.

thourlon .... fair enough. No argument here, just putting thought out there for some who have none.

benluclar, I don't intend to vote for Obama. His pro-abortion stance is repulsive to me. HOWEVER, I am tired of arguing with people who think this is a matter of "women's rights," or that I'm trying to force my religious beliefs on them. They will not change, neither will I. I will continue to vote pro-life, I will practice pro-life, but I don't want to argue with stone-hearted people anymore, it's a waste of time.

Obama SUPPORTS ""DO NOT RESUSCITATE'' for abortions gone awry.
DO NOT RESUSCITATE a DYING CHILD who LIVES through an ABORTION.
Please, please, all voters...... KNOW THIS!
    REMEMBER THIS tomorrow.

48 MILLION MALE AND FEMALE BABIES HAVE BEEN ABORTED IN THE UNITED STATES.

As we mature we realize that elections have more significance than we had earlier assumed. This year's election has proven this through a long and agonizing process of compelling sounds around us. These sounds envelope depths touching all of us, oftentimes beyond comprehension and are neither isolated nor, at times, related to one another. They do reach, however, a commonality disturbing to us all.
There are sounds of fearful apprehension. There are sounds of hopeful expectation. There are sounds of disturbing accusation. There are sounds of calculated presumption. They are sounds of unfulfilled analysis, due to their complexity in our process to recognize intention and integrity which we hope will satisfy our reach for inner core beliefs similar to our own. The sounds of one or more of these must touch each of you, although differently, but are nonetheless profound for each of us.
One sound among these is the sound of lost children -- in pain, abandoned and inhumanely destroyed through a politically-correct system of pro-choice abortion sympathizers forced upon us by our own statesmen, who otherwise loudly profess compassion in saving all humanity on the planet from their own specific tyrannies. These same legislators are practicing in succession a liberalism with unclear objective which is over the top, worsening and unsettling to voters.
Which brings me to the next deafening sound of impending policies we are already witnessing in our everyday lives, while awaiting the certainty of promise for more: liberalism, socialism, allocation -- words of synonymous value. I do not understand the illogical growing popularity of these sounds in a country which I remain convinced true logic will prevail. But they resound too often, and have, subliminally, become trendy and acceptable.
There is no sound louder than the hush of conservatism. Its sound is faint, but it is a prevailing sound within the depths of us all and does not lose tone. Let us keep the music in tune.

The media is extremely biased. The majority of the networks aresupporters of Democrats. They kept abortion out of the debate because Osama Obama is a hypocrite. He claims to be a christian but voted to bring back partial birth abortion and said that children who survive an abortion infringe on the mothers constitutional right to terminate the pregnancy.... I wonder, would Obama take a knife or scalpel to the throat of a newborn baby? Would he smile and laugh while cutting into the skin and watching the baby squirm for dear life?
Does this thought warm your heart Mcleodmn?

If it were up to me, abortion clinics would have drive-thru service. Your ridiculous argument doesn't chance any minds, but it does paint you as the type to blow up a planned parenthood. Good riddance to you and your kind. Natural selection has your number.

      • Posted By: aaronf79 @ 11/03/2008 5:05:17 PM

Drive thru service?? Really?? If you would please do the world a favor and not reproduce.. Well, I guess you wouldn't anyways since you would have a party at an abortion clinic and have your unborn child killed.

People like you should be shackled, sedated, and locked in a padded room. I sincerely hope your putrid genetics haven't infected the gene pool with more ignorant simpletons, but a zealot like yourself probably had 4 kids before drinking age. C'est la vie.

Concerned Canadian, what does your post even have to do with the topic at hand?

    • Posted By: not-fooled-by-slick-talking-charlatans @ 11/03/2008 5:02:02 PM

Ignore Concerned Canadian - although everyone is entitled to express their opinion, he has yet to conceive an intelligent one.

  • Posted By: aaronf79 @ 11/03/2008 5:00:55 PM

Again, a pro choice advocate proved wrong. Mcleodmn, you say my argument is rediculous yet you offer not one example. Offer some sort of evidence or atleast give a half-way decent argument please.
In my previos post, i mentioned nothing about blowing up any clinics, infact, that is a vile thing. Two wrongs don't make a right. You wanted to paint me as the type. Please tell me thats not your great comeback....

Obama said he denounced and left the radical Trinity United Church but it???s not true!!

Obama has Trinity United pastor Rev Ottis Moss accompanying him on his campaign!!

More and more disturbing stuff on Obama's past and his real intentions are just starting to surface.

As I predicted over a year ago ...... Obama is a big fraud and America is being duped !!

Isn't is amazing that Concerned Canadian has never revealed why he is so concerned? I'm sure there must be issues in Canada he can Concern himself with.

Tha absence of real thought for "moral equivelancy" saying what about poor children; was profoundly commented upon by John Paul II when he wrote about voting for candidates who are right on lesser issues but who will vote wrongly on key moral issues. Pope John Paul II wrote regarding the life issues: ???The common outcry, which is justly made on behalf of human rights???for example, the right to health, to home, to work, to family, to culture???is false and illusory if the right to life, the most basic and fundamental right and the condition for all other personal rights, is not defended with maximum determination.??? It's not about Catholicism, Christianity or any thing else. It''s about protecting the most defensless of all, children awaiting the sunlight of birth.

Your understanding and compassion on this issue are astonishing Rocky2001. What about a woman who is raped? Or what about a pregnancy that is wanted, but the featus is found to have catastrophic deformaties that may not kill the mother is she gives birth, but would cause the death of the featus at birth or shortly after? I know you may believe that such medical issues are rare, but be assured that they are not.

We can address abortion. Every birth involves major comittment from women. Months of pregnancy. Painful birth.

It;s past time for us men to resolve this issue. We should embrace a policy of reversible vasectomy, and sperm storage where needed. Young men should have the vasectomy. Reversed when they and their partner choose to pursue child birth.

I am a left of center voter. I give credit to the right for the decency and persistence of their pursuit. The right is right: we should indeed seek to end abortion.

And we men can recognize that compared to what women go through to have a child, the vasectomy is small potatoes.

It is killing our babies, and Obama is the most liberal extremist for free ABORTION, even paid for taxpayers' money. He is even against the Born-to-life ban, that means if a baby survises an abortion it has the right to life, but Obama is likking them all. Obama said he did not want to "punish" his daughters with children, so if his mother decided to abort him, then there would be no presidential candiate Barack Obama today. Are we simply killing off more and more black babies, because backs are the majority among the women who have abortion??? Yet, he is claiming to be a Christian, and proud of it.
