Best advice for Palin's future: stay the heck in Alaska. You are not the skilled maverick you claim to be. Be Geraldine Ferraro, find another line of work and raise your son Triq, budding hairstylist Piper, student Willow and soon to be mom Bristol. Stay in Alaska. PLEASE!

Obama's win is more of a disapproval of McCain/Palin rather than approval of him as president-elect. I think the GOP should wake from the nightmare and take an objective look at the loss. No one so far has the courage to admit the BIGGEST reason for McCain's loss is Sarah Palin. Pres. Bush should not be blamed for McCain's loss. While Bush policies are not popular, and most poeople are deeply dissatisfied with him, Pres. Bush never campaigned like an extreme right winger in either 2000 or 2004, that's why he can get the moderate Republican and independent voters to his side. Economic problems are the main concern of voters, but voters clearly understood that neither Obama nor McCain could solve the economic crisis in a short-term. However, they are scared by John McCain's pick of Palin. Anyone with a decent IQ can tell she is not remotely qualified as VP to an elderly cancer survivor. Her endless expression of right wing ideology is so far out of touch with reality that scared the living day light of Moderate Republicans and Independents. Republican voters always have a higher set of moral, social, and intellect standards. They will not vote for a Democrat, but they will sit out of an election rather than have a hand in picking someone grossly unqualified like Sarah Palin. For independents, they voted for Obama to send a message to McCain that keeping Palin is not without conseqence. It was rather John McCain's pick of Sarah Palin that literrally forced millions to vote the other way. 2008 election would have had a different outcome if McCain picked Roomney, Pawlenty, or other female Repubicans like Hutchinson. It is a winnable election for Republican party, the argument of experience in tough and unstable time would be a solid theme all the way through to top Obama's mere change in the last two months. But adding Palin is like adding a tsunami of uncertainty to an already uncertain world. Sarah Palin may have enegized the base, the base of any party is not enough to win an election without independents. Independents, moderate Republicans, and moderate Democrats have many common grounds. To win an election, ideas appealing to these three groups are essential. Republican base will always vote for a Republican, whether the feeling is cool or lukewarm, but John McCain's Palin appeal to the base costed him the three groups really mattered to a win. Now Sarah Palin is going to run for 2012? No more Palin, please! Alaska can have her back. The strong GOP in 2000 has been hijacked and weakened by the party's extreme right wing influence. An influence not only dominated the GOP, but also an influence that refused ideas and could not tolerate ideological differences. More troublesome, GOP employed so-called strategists who do not have a clue to what is going on in America, or they might just be Democratic spies. The sheer arrogance and groundless confidence that permeated the GOP was the poison for an election disaster.

Exactly how did this knowledge of 50 million voters' motivations come into your possession?

Are you having conversations with dogs again?

wow, great article. i really love how the author gives her advice and makes her look like an idiot at the same time.
many americans doubt that she's ever read a book. that's cute. so i guess that she earned her college degree by watching tv and she's the most popular govenor because she's good looking.
    yeah right.
i really want to see the masterpiece that tina fey comes out with.

I do not think that the writer of this article was trying to make fun of Palin. I think she was trying to give her real advice on how to get the nomination in four years. I am not a Palin supporter and honestly held my opinion of her until she could show who she was. I still don't think we know who she is and I think that the advice in this article gives her excellent ways to show the public who she is and what she believes in beyond pro-life and creationism. Right now to a majority of the populace, she is more of a charicature than a real person. Right now a majority of the people in this country DO wonder if she actually reads books. Four years is a long time to work on making the populace forget the "Tina Fey" version of Sarah Palin but to do this she has to "put meat on her ideas" to paraphrase Schwarzenegger.

I, for one, did not wait to form my opinion of Sarah Palin until her first unscripted interview or the VP debate. I formed MY opinion of her when I heard her acceptance speech, and every speech thereafter. My ears are quite acute and sensitive because I've never ruined them standing next to loud speakers or working on an assembly line, and I found Sarah Palin's speaking voice in whatever venue to be piercing and nearly unbearable, akin to fingernails down a blackboard. It was really hard to listen to some of her speeches for the purpose of evaluating her stand on the issues of the campaign. I eventually gave up and just read media synopses of her stump speeches.

Too bad that mean ol' media reported her speeches, interviews, skits and pranks played on her accurately -- they were all duly recorded from beginning to end -- revealing everything anyone wanted to know.

"Other young, charismatic Republican governors are waiting in the wings: "

Yeah --and I am pretty sure that some of them can chew gum and walk.

Poor Palin --to be outclassed on such simple things....

Why is every person who speaks the truth about Palin accused of misogyny? Because unfounded ridicule is the only defense left when the truth becomes obvious. Just keep digging that hole. The deeper you go the funnier it is. I would vote for Hillary Clinton in a heartbeat.

I can???t imagine that the repugs would even consider dragging that tired laughing stock out one more time for 2012. But then again, I would never have believed that it could have happened the first time if I had not seen it for myself. Wake up Republicans, the day of the dunce is over.

The presidency has been Obama's ambition for his entire adult lifetime. I suppose this kind of single-mindednes is what it takes to survive the long, hard road to Washington. Let's hope the office doesn't destroy the man. As for Palin, I haven't seen this all-consuming passion for power. but she must be seen as a threat to the far left: how else can we understand the continued fascination with the woman on the day after?

    • Posted By: KayJ503 @ 11/05/2008 4:31:58 PM

I don't think it's Sarah Palin herself that has "this all-consuming passion for power." But it might be someone close to her. Thank God we won't have to wonder what the VP First Dude is doing all day in Sarah Palin's VP office....

YEAH, I can't believe the mainstream media tricked the American public into voting for a Black, inexperienced, terrorist-loving, secretly Muslim SOCIALIST! Those elitists sure pulled a fast one, hoodwinking 110 million people into participating in this farce of an election...personally, I am using every free moment I have to construct a bomb shelter under my backyard and stocking up on non-perishable goods so that my family and I can survive the fall of the western world in January.

RE: the "gravitas merit badge" thing, specifically about such a thing as a 'Joe the Plumber' bill.....Sarah Palin should probably stay far away from any references to 'Joe the Plumber', who was held up as a shining example of a Republican working-class guy wanting to become a small businessman -- evidently he would have had to buy that plumbing business he referred to in the one-on-one with Barack Obama entirely on credit, because it turns out he's broke. I guess he was planning on adding to the country's credit-crunch economic crisis....

A donket? I mean a donkey. Geez Louise!

  • Posted By: Bass Pro @ 11/05/2008 4:01:44 PM

Palin's dad predicted that Sarah would "field dress a donket" on election day. Wouldn't that be considered cannibalism for this family?

Palin who? She does not have what it takes for an Executive position. Her self-righteous speech on SNL's Presidential Bash really turned me away from her. Poor her, SNL makes fun of her, poor baby. Who does she think she is - SNL makes fun of every politician. She might have been able to gain some credibility had she not allowed herself to be pimped out so quick and easily by McCain's camp. If you are mad or confused about '08 election results, you have been sleeping, especially for the past 8 years. Do the human race a favor, go back to sleep. This country is moving forward together, if you want to be hateful and don't want to be a part of the American team, GET OUT, YOU don't belong here.

I don't think Caribou Barbie can make it through the GOP primary. The Mitt Romneys of the GOP world will eat her alive! It's one thing to be annointed #2, it's another to fight, scrape and elbow your way to be #1. It was fun while it lasted.

colin powell should have run for office. I think he is better suited for the job than any of this years candidates

  • Posted By: hushobamasleep6ftdp @ 11/05/2008 2:03:37 PM

Obama won't be in office for eight years. Palin will not win the nomination in four years. Someone else will win, but not these two. Obama may not last that long.

2012 is out of the question for Palin. The GOP will want NOTHING to do w/ anything that emerged from the 2008 McCain campaign. Republican party leaders were tripping over themselves to get away from this trainwreck.

Palin will go down in history as one of the worst "Hail Mary" passes EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: LMFAOShwarz @ 11/05/2008 12:14:13 PM

What was up with all of the booing at McCain's speech and their canned cheers?! Well Palin surely is ambitious letting known her ambitions before the election was even over. I stumbled upon this hilarious video, LMFAO:

Et tu, Palin? Palin 2012 which really says it all:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch...

She went out to field dress a donkey and fleeced an elephant.

Sarah wandered out onto the highway of national politics. She was blinded by the lights and go creamed by an 18 wheeler. So all she has to do is stand up, brush herself off and pretend like nothing happened then continue walking across the highway. After being tested by the first 18 wheeler she is sure to handle the next one much better. So do you want to follow Sarah while she wanders around on the highway of national politics taking on more 18 wheelers or will the RNC instead choose to rally around those who have demonstrated that they could walk across the highway with out getting creamed or maybe one of the new leaders who had enough sense to stand on the side of the highway and watch Sarah's stellar performance.
