If Palin was a bad choice for a running mate, is that her faulf, or the fault of who choose her? All thsis infighting and finger opointing after the loss shows me that theGOP aren't united enough to work together through some very difficult times ahead.

With so many unhappy about the last 8 years of Republican rule, I'm not surprised to see the Dems get a kick at the can.

While so many republican supporters are on the net posting hate messages and calling foul on Obamas win, I hope there are a lot more very sensible ones looking at themselves for the answers. Two strong parties are needed to run the country, regardless of which has more power at any given time.

Just like healthy business, competition is good.

Yes, a Joe the Plumber bill would impress us even less than Joe the Plumber himself.
The woman is a total idiot, if the GOP brings her back, kudos, the Dems won't have to hit the campaign trail until August of 2012.
Dead God, let her go. Must we be punished with her for another moment?
Independent, leaning way farther Democrat since Palin stepped aboard. Bye Bye Repubs.

Sarah Palin is supposed to write think pieces and immerse herself in great ideas? Was this piece intended as satire?

  • Posted By: 40YearR @ 11/08/2008 8:14:25 PM

"Rich LaHaye": Sounds like there's more than one. From where I am, I'll take Sarah 2012 and therefore more Obama, if the posts on these kinds of sites are indicative of the extent of self delusion currently within the republican party.

    A 40 year republican

Could someone please explain to me how such a strong maverick allowed republicans to force on her over $150K of clothes she did not want?

  • Posted By: NewsWkDickG @ 11/08/2008 10:46:35 AM

Who cares where she goes ... just so it isn't on the national scene!

  • Posted By: yellow tiger @ 11/08/2008 9:14:35 AM

Don't go Sarah. Lots of us in the lower 48 like you and want you to stay. I like many others feel that you were
given the short end of the stick -only two months to campaign, and media buzz the minute you were chosen.
Quite a few industrialized, and lesser industrialized nations around the world have women as their head of
state. Maggie Thatcher, lead Great Britain for seven years. Look at Queen Elizabeth the 1st, one of the most
beloved of all English monarchs: "Good Queen Bess". So don't give up or give in. You've gotten the hazing,
now your ready for the battle that lies ahead.

I think Palin should try to get nominated in the next republican primaries. She has proved to be tough and fun. Furthermore, she has given hope to many women who feel discriminated and abused every day of their lives. Women need other women to represent them, not a bunch of boys (no mater what color) who ???just don???t get it???. The media has successfully made the case that Palin is stupid but she is not stupid at all. At most she is just another victim of the America???s average education system. But I am 100% sure that if she had two years to learn the business of running for president (instead of two months) she would not only have been able to tell reporters the capitals of every single country in Africa but to give them a good vision of what the conservative option is???. And now, once again, as it has happened every day for the past 2,000 years of history (at least), women, we are the big losers.

    • Posted By: 312708 @ 11/07/2008 7:23:59 AM

You say she gives hope to women then call her a victim. Anyone can overcome the average education you say America provides. Obama's mother earned a PHD in anthropology; he, himself, went to Harvard and became a Senator and now President. The education system shouldn't be blamed for Palin's intellectual shortcomings. Knowledge is out there, you need only reach out for it and apply yourself if you really want it.

      • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 11/07/2008 4:40:09 PM

Yep, especially since Palin is a college graduate with a degree in journalism! My daughter goes to public school and she learned the continents in kindergarten!

What gets me the most is conservatives like Bill'O saying that "she can be schooled and be ready in four years". No, she can't! Not only are these people anti-intellectualism, they don't even know how education works. Most college graduates who got their diploma last June have already forgotten most of what they were taught, it happens to the vast majority of us. The value is that once you have been instructed or read a book or come across some fact that you thought about, you develop what's called a schema, an idea of something, so next time you come across a similar situation or fact, it already has a home in your mind and the knowledge becomes more sophisticated. That's the difference between fact gathering and knowledge. Gov. Palin can choose to learn now the capitals of most of the countries in the world, that will be a good start, but she would also need to cultivate that knowledge, to ponder it, to contemplate it, to mature it, to combine it with a philosophy and to further it. It's a wonderful journey, but it's not something that can or should be rushed. And when you are starting at "I thought Africa was a country" then the road ahead is very long indeed.

It is no accident, that the same people who want to ban books from a library (as she did as mayor of Wassila) or who distrust science and ram against "liberal elites" are the least educated. Thank you God for sparing us!

The sad thing is that Joe the Plummer guy is more substantitive than she is, and what does that tell you?

  • Posted By: whatisreal? @ 11/07/2008 4:26:14 PM

The problem with Palin is that not only does she not have the substance of any noticable merit, she shuns the education, she is not a person that can reach much beyond her own ideology, or core beliefs and thinks she can rely on her instinct, and charm. She is not somebody who embraces new ideas, and probably will never get beyond being what she appears to be, a nice vase full of used rhetoric.

  • Posted By: mannythemooch @ 11/07/2008 12:35:40 PM

And to anyone who still thinks that Governor Palin has what it takes to lead America, when she famously failed to name a Supreme Court decision that she disagreed with, she failed to mention the one decision that all pro-lifers should know - Roe vs Wade.

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 11/07/2008 4:07:41 PM

To be fair, the question was "What SC decision other than Roe v. Wade..."

What I find both disturbing and hilarious is the McCain campaign taking out her dirty laundry. How can someone who graduated from grade school, let alone someone with a college degree running for VP NOT know that Africa is a continent? That that point didn't come up during McCain's speed vetting is not surprising, but this level of ignorance is way below par, it should have been obvious to McCain that gov. Palin didn't know a whole lot about anything.

What I find disturbing was McCain putting her in a position where she could have been, potentially, president. I mean, she was in a ticket that, potentially, could have won. Palin's lack of basic knowledge is almost as bad as McCain's arrogance and lack of concern for the nation he wanted to lead.

Would anyone put a heroin addict in withdrawal to babysit their kids? That's what McCain did.

You are right about the hope for women, but Palin was not even close to being the best qualified woman for VP.

McCain chose looks and a great wink over experience and readiness when he picked up Palin. That is an insult to all women.

      • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 11/07/2008 3:53:51 PM

It was an insult to all of us. I had a lot of respect for McCain, as did a lot of non-Republicans but he managed to squander it during the campaign, not least of which because he chose someone so utterly unprepared and ignorant in a vain attempt to get the Hillary voters. As far as I'm concerned, McCain put all of us at risk for his political chances.

Writing a book is a good idea. How about an inspirational/self-help book with the title "Anyone can be Vice President"?

  • Posted By: AriJordan @ 11/06/2008 6:47:43 PM

M\y understanding is that Palin cant appoint herself to the Stevens seat...they changed the law in Alaska a few years ago. There would have to be a special election - which she could run in.

    • Posted By: forte88 @ 11/06/2008 7:05:59 PM

She can't appoint herself is right. However, she can appoint a new governor who in turn could appoint her if she resigns her position.

      • Posted By: AriJordan @ 11/06/2008 8:06:05 PM

as i thought, read this...it would go to special election - the author of this article is flat wrong.

        • Posted By: forte88 @ 11/07/2008 11:46:11 AM

          Am I wrong? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27576148/

"But if Stevens is truly reelected and he is then forced out of the Senate, you know who gets to choose his replacement? That would be the governor of Alaska. Remember her? And no, before you ask, she cannot appoint herself. But, she could resign as governor and then have her lieutenant governor appoint her to the Senate. You betcha."

  • Posted By: Catbuns1978 @ 11/07/2008 11:35:27 AM

She needs to stay in Alaska, so I don't ever have to hear her talk again. She is an poor excuse for a woman. I don't make that comment lightly. She is not going to grow a brain in 4yrs. I'm sorry but it just not going to happen. She tried and failed leave it at that. As far as trying to learn, she did so well at that didn't she? You can kiss as many asses as you want it isn't going to change how people fell. First impressions???

  • Posted By: Mahalo @ 11/07/2008 9:48:46 AM

She could start by reading a newspaper - not being able to name one made it blatantly obvious that she did not keep up with the rest of the world. I do not see Sarah Palin as a contendor in 2012. As a 40 year old woman who spoke to many other women, she is not a popular person and four years is not enough to gain that. Her stand on abortion in case of incest and rape goes beyond forward-thinking and shows a true lack of understand of empathy for victims. Her wardrobe expense was one thing, but to then outfit your family showed her true character. Her thinking Africa was a country, not a continent almost said it all, until she got a call from "the President of France." That just showed that she is way beyond naieve to run a country. Sarah Palin should stick to a more isolated state like Alaska and handle all negotations with her visual neighbor, Russia. It's a great place for her and, as she laughingly agreed with the "President' of France, she likes to kill animals. I think her life is meant to be there. Focus on her family, who clearly needs her right now as a mother.

And learn geography, it's fun for the whole family!

  • Posted By: lexi97701 @ 11/06/2008 12:07:00 PM

How could ANYONE, no matter how much you may like her, EVER consider her for President of the UNITED States?
    A. She spread hatred and divisive ideals
    B. She knows almost NOTHING about geography, LET ALONE Foreign relations
    C. You can't win the WORLD's respect being a joe 6-pack, hockey mom talkin all folssy and using your sexuality to win votes.
PLEASE PEOPLE, be realistic! Have a Collective Brain!

    • Posted By: debcon @ 11/07/2008 9:02:24 AM

Well said , but I have an idea for Ms Palin.....she can run for President of Alaska when her husband's (and her's at one time) political party/affiliation actually secedes from the lower 48.......LOL!

  • Posted By: Girl28 @ 11/06/2008 3:02:32 AM

You left out a few things: 1. Read the constitution. 2. Stop abusing her power. 3. Learn about domestic and foreign affairs. 4. Learn to campaign positively. 5. Stay away from Saks and Neiman Marcus. 6.Stop waving her baby around like a prolife banner, get a babysitter. 7. Hold an intelligent conversation, no talking points, and no sweeping generalities. 8.Stop lying, if you don't know something be honest, promise to find out, and actually hold yourself to that promise. 9. Never wink at a debate again, exercise a little decorum and professionalism 10. Yeah, I guess she would just have to turn into a completely different person, who's next on your list? Hockey moms and Joe six-packs need not apply.

I like Palin, she has morals and a lot of experience in running not only a state but a business and a large family. She is unlike most women. Do you know anyone who is female with experience and POSITIVE change!? She is honorable and not a liar and doesn't give false hope. I think she would make a FAR better President than Mr. Muslim Obama.
Regardless, we must pray for our Country for it is about to come to an end with this Liberal, ridiculous narcissist of a man- Obama. I am disgusted at the USA for voting him into office. Hello Socialism goodbye FREEDOM! It is sad. It goes to show how selfish out Country is. People voted him into office based on their need of being a part of history and receiving tax benefits because of our poor economy which I might also add- is because of poor spending on all of our parts... not just because of Bush!
So the "change" I am waiting for, is nothing more than sad. Get ready for a poor Country that is Government run and welcome in Europe who will in turn buy us out and run our major companies.

    • Posted By: 312708 @ 11/07/2008 6:56:44 AM

She was found to have abused her power as governor in Alaska...how is that honorable? She let people at her rallies shout out hateful and racist comments...how is that having morals? Even John McCain had the decency to stop that type of atmosphere at his own rallies.

    • Posted By: forte88 @ 11/06/2008 3:41:42 PM

Yeah, you might as well draw a warm bath, and slit your wrists.. You obviously have nothing to live for anymore.

      • Posted By: prepstermom @ 11/06/2008 8:40:14 PM

        1. Can you define "socialism?"
        2. Obama is NOT a Muslim and even if he was, why would that make a difference/
        3. A lot of experience? Please delineate?
4.Honorable? Not a liar? According to Mc Cain staffers she could not be be trusted to do the right thing.
        5. The citizens of this country overwhelmingly voted in a new president. Respect their choice.
        5

    • Posted By: jsala001 @ 11/06/2008 3:38:07 PM

Morals? She slandered the opposing candidate and tried to instill fear in the American public just to get to the White House. She implied that President Obama was having tea parties with domestic terrorists. It's one thing to tell a fib, but to character assassinate is another. I just thank God that the American people did not fall for her shady tactics.
