I would like to know how "truth be told's" daughter knows without a doubt that Obama is going to strip down the military. Has she had private conversations with him where she was the only person to be told this? Because this defers greatly from what the man's policy is, and what he has been saying publically he is going to do. I don't know how people have continued to belive that McCain would be the best person for the military, he voted against increasing funds for the military almost exclusively.
I think you and your family should be a little more open minded, and let the man fall or stand, then judge.
At a time when there is so much good will from all over the world, your grapes are a little sore.
Unless if the man has told you personally that this is what he is going to do, you should'nt state as fact.

Yeah, that post is actually suspect. I've looked at several different articles and that same exact comment was on all of them. Honestly would you want someone running into a war half-hazardly, with faulty intelligence, and no strategy? Or do you want someone who is intelligent and thoughtful, and who will surround himself with experts in the field? It's a no brainer.

Sarah Palin needs to stay with her family in the state she loves with people who seem to like her. We don't like felons working for "We the people" or women who live in a fantasy world who say God will help people make the right choice when they enter the voting booth. The United States needs people much smarter than Sarah Palin to lead this country. The proof is in 8 years of a not so smart man who ran our country into the ground.

I don't really care where Sarah Palin 'goes' from here...As long as it's far, far away and off the media radar. She can take her divisivness, her hateful ideology and disappear forever as far as I'm concerned. She's a huge reason John McCain lost. She was an insult to intelligent, working wives, mothers, sisters, etc., everywhere from the moment she was 'presented' to America.

    • Posted By: realpravda @ 11/06/2008 12:30:13 AM

she is actually the only reason I voted for McCain. Had he chosen anyone else, like the gov of my state MN I would have stayed away from the polls. that would have been more tragic as it would have meant fewer votes for the more conservative candidates in MN.

If Sarah Palin has ambition to run for the presidency, she first needs to take a course in constitutional law. There she would learn that the courts have ruled it unconstitutional to teach creationism and intelligent design in our public schools. Also, that a mayor of a town cannot go to the local library and ban books that she doesn't approve of. The First Amendment protects our right to read whatever we want.

    • Posted By: gabbyprod @ 11/06/2008 12:19:05 AM

Wow... Palin never attempted to ban any book and never attempted to force creationism in the classroom. More CNN crap. Check out factcheck.org. You'll also find that she never tried to charge rape victims for rape kits, and has never claimed to be able to "see Russia from my house! You betcha!".
Get your sh!t straight, America! This is the kind of intellectual laziness that elected an unknown quantity to the White House based on "Change and Hope".

  • Posted By: Qidisrupt @ 11/06/2008 12:15:49 AM

McCain and Palin will be able to sleep at night because their homes have not been foreclosed, due to the previously stated causes...oh, I stand corrected; McCain has seven homes to sleep in...and one house he won't get to sleep in is the White House!

May I remind you, with the expert news reporting from Keith Olberman, that the state of Alaska "spreads their wealth." Oh, yes, it is a fact. A while back, Sarah "spend it all on clothes" Palin, used the very word SOCIALISM...THAT'S RIGHT AMERICA, SOCIALISM...to describe the sharing of the collective wealth economics in Alaska...isn't that precious. So, all you high and mighty ones, how would you define the SHARING OF COLLECTIVE WEALTH in Alaska? Anyone dare to answer? Need I remind all that it was BOTH political parties who jumped in on the $700 billion GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED bailout plan for the crooked corporate clucks who should be in prison for their corporate swindling. Government regulation is not always a bad thing if U.S. citizens show no responsibility...the shape our economy is in is largely because of deregulation of corporations and outsourcing of livable wage American jobs. The deregulation of corporations led to a free for all...which further led to poorer treatment of the American workers and blinding greed for irresponsible corporate clucks.

YEAH, I can't believe the mainstream media tricked the American public into voting for a Black, inexperienced, terrorist-loving, secretly Muslim SOCIALIST! Those elitists sure pulled a fast one, hoodwinking 110 million people into participating in this farce of an election...personally, I am using every free moment I have to construct a bomb shelter under my backyard and stocking up on non-perishable goods so that my family and I can survive the fall of the western world in January.

      • Posted By: kml7 @ 11/05/2008 6:27:36 PM

hahahaha EXACTLY...we'll be sure to have lots of ammo stored too when the Muslim terrorist armies invade U.S. land!

I've never liked Sarah Palin for her extremist right-wing religious politics, and because of her nasty, and vicious attacks on President Elect Obama. But even for people who like her extremist views, and think she's attractive (to me she's just "plain Palin" an ordinary looking middle age lady), I think she has a lot to prove to be ready to be a player in the national stage. As of now she's abosulely clueless about national politics, and foreign affairs.

  • Posted By: gabbyprod @ 11/05/2008 5:19:31 PM

I don't quite understand the vitriol surrounding Palin. While obviously not the public speaker that Obama is, she undeniably has more relevant experience. She's governor of a state with a multi-billon dollar budget with no deficit. By 2012 she'll have more experience than Bill Clinton had when he took office.

While I hope for the best, Obama is an absolute unknown. The question I always ask is this - Tell me why you voted for Obama without using the words "change", "hope", "Bush" or "Palin scares the hell outta me!" which is simply parroting a Dem/CNN catch phrase.

Obama is brilliant in many ways and will be good for this country's standing in the international community. How he will "change" Washington is an unknown. When all is said and done, you still have a lawyer who is a career politician with no track record.

Hope and Change are nice words. We'll see how they transfer to reality.

    • Posted By: thankgoodnessitsover @ 11/05/2008 8:50:45 PM

Let me give you a few good reasons without using the words you mentioned: 1) lousy economy! 2) I've lost my retirement investments! 3) willing to risk it; can't afford a repeat!

      • Posted By: gabbyprod @ 11/05/2008 11:09:53 PM

        1) lousy economy! - Google "Carter Fair Housing Act", "Obama Fannie may contributions" and "Clinton lowers mortgage standards." The mortgage crisis is not Bush's fault, no matter how bad you want to blame him.
        2) I've lost my retirement investments! - Diversify! It will come back. If you're too close to retirement to recover, that's on you.
        3) willing to risk it; can't afford a repeat! - Anyone who thinks McCain would have been a Bush redux ain't paying attention.

    • Posted By: Cazador1972 @ 11/05/2008 5:40:14 PM

Then again, with that "experience" that conservatives kept attributing to her she still didn't seem to know how the economy worked, or what the constitution actually says about the role of the vice-president, or really, anything with any depth of knowledge.

Obama an absolute unknown? Hardly, he has been vetted like no other candidate, he did more than a dozen televised debates and was under a high level of scrutiny. Palin? Only a handful of interviews, half of which were soft-balled by Fox and the rest she managed to show she was utterly ignorant of critical issues that even I, just an informed citizen, knew more than she did. So much for her "executive" experience.

  • Posted By: gabbyprod @ 11/05/2008 5:40:37 PM

<<<Honestly I would really be surprised if Palin wins a 2nd term as Governor.>>>

Mac/Palin won AK 62/36 and she still has an approval rating of 80%+. I have no idea why it would be a surprise, other than believing all the rhetoric and ignoring the facts. Alaskans know what she has done for the state and will reward her with another term.

    • Posted By: gnuagan @ 11/05/2008 6:30:36 PM

gabbyprod is forgetting that she taxed the big oil and redistributed the "wealth" to the people of Alaska; favorable rating is inevitable I dare say.

      • Posted By: gabbyprod @ 11/05/2008 11:02:26 PM

I didn't forget at all. All I hear is complaints about "Big Oil" and their obscene profits. Someone does something to return some of the profits to the citizens of the state the resources were extracted from, and suddenly it's socialism? What has Obama done to alleviate the pressure from high fuel prices? What has he actually done about anything?

  • Posted By: tarabunga66rf @ 11/05/2008 9:32:02 PM

I really hope the republicans nominate her in 2012--first of all she provides great fodder for late-night television. And second, I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to vote for her again for Governor of Alaska, much less president. The fact that anyone would entertain such a thing just goes to show ya--the right wing of the Republican Party has not been paying attention. America has spoken so loudly and clearly--we can only assume they are all deaf . . . and dumb!

    • Posted By: Texas GOPer @ 11/05/2008 10:21:27 PM

Comment:Hopefully you don't live in Alaska and have no say in who the state votes for. Governor Palin at least had the guts and fortitude to accept the challenge of running for the second highest office in the country to stand up for what she believes in.Unlike some that fire away insults from the blogesphere. The liberals won the election. Grow up and just gloat that you won the election instead of flinging insults about someone that did something that you did'nt have the nerve to do.

  • Posted By: olderwiser @ 11/05/2008 10:00:32 PM

I never did like the description "lipstick on a pig" as applied to Sarah Palin because it smacked of discrimination against the female gender. But, I would go for "fresh paint on a rotten barn". There's not a hint of gender in it and it seems to go along with the hasty pudding choice of one in a panic for a running companion who just grabs someone off the street and puts new clothes on that person to make that person look like a real candidate. Then, don't let anyone talk to that person and who would ever know the difference. At least, until that person spoke.

    • Posted By: olderwiser @ 11/05/2008 10:16:22 PM

Barns are without gender. They are rural, simple, inarticulate, kind and reliable when properly used for the simple task of just standing there and not moving. Barns have not traveled and hence know only what has passed nearby. So, when you try to sell one as a mansion after coating it with new paint, the smart buyers decline. It might be possible to replace many of the boards and remodel it for later sale as a mansion, but it still is hard to bring it up to that level from its true function. Just to stand there and keep the animals dry and warm.

If Sarah Palin opts for public office again it shouldn't be for the presidency (which she is not equipped to handle). She should just fade quietly into the night. (I hear the nights are quite long in Alaska.) Stay home and take care of the kiddies Sarah and give your poor husband a break. Maybe if you watch how Obama operates you might learn something should you chance a comeback. Good luck!!!!!!

The leaders of the Christian Right thrive on chaos in the world and suffering in their followers. Sarah Palin knows how this works. If we ridicule her, then we miss the point. Palin is smart like Hitler, and she will be back on the national stage to exploit the Christian Right followers who agree to feel persecuted.

Focus on the Family has explicitly stated their war on tolerance -
    http://christiananswers.net/q-eden/tolerance.html

The Republican party needs that base. Palin will return to lead it.

Sarah Palin may want to take freshman English 101 again or for the first time! Also, she might try to read a few national newspapers, Her interview with Katie Couric will be around for years and its not pretty! A little dose of humility may help as well!

Sarah Palin needs to go back to Alaska and get her approval rating back. MY ADVICE: Tone down the POWERHOUSE and take some tutoring lessons.

I think this article is pretty close. We can speculate all we want about what she can and cannot do, but what I see is a great potential for talent. I think waiting until 2016 is risky. This country has never had 3 back to back 2 term presidencies, and Clinton-Bush was only the 3rd time in History we have had 2 back to back and only the first in the 20th and 21st centuries. That said, anything is possible. History is not on Obama's side. Say what you will about Palin. She lacks experience, doesn't know the party machine, etc. One thing she does have is a big following. Whether she uses that to her advantage is up to her. I agree with many of the points in this article that she must do to run in 2012. If she wants it, she'd better get going quickly, like 6 months or less. I think 2016 is too late. I wish her well whatever she does and if she runs she has my support. In the meantime, although Obama did not get my vote I will support him as our next president. It's a dangerous world folks, lets come together. Republicans, please clean it up quick!

    • Posted By: lielvarde @ 11/05/2008 9:06:39 PM

History is not on Obama's side? That's a strange thing to say. Didn't he just become the first African-American president? I think history is being rewritten by Obama. It's certainly on his side.
