Change is finally coming to Washington! Kick those Bush lovers out and bring back those Clinton Retreads. Oh well, so much for change!
With a smashing victory, Illinois senator leads a Democratic takeover of national politics
Change is finally coming to Washington! Kick those Bush lovers out and bring back those Clinton Retreads. Oh well, so much for change!
Get over it--racist, redneck repub. You know this is more about race than poiltics or party. You pedophile crackers with your beer, guns, and trailer park education can't stand the fact that a black man won--A$$hole.
Why are so many government top secrets being leaked out now that Obama and his top staff have been informed of them???? Is there someone in the Obama staff that has a loose tongue and no character????
Which "many government top secrets" are being leaked?
Did anyone noticed the stock market dived on the news of the election. Why does that always happen when Democrats win elections?
And the market was doing SO well! LOL!
The market has been diving for the past 2 months. Obama won last night.
If you want to get technical, the market dove to 8000 the same day the Gallup poll showed a slight surge for McCain, about 2 weeks ago.
If you have had as much help as Obama got then anyone can win, but there will be a price. The price will be felt in the media and because they showed favortism in great fashions, their revenue dollars will take a dive. No longer will big doners buy the NY Times, LA Times and sponsor huge media outlets like NBC, ABC, and CBS. We will begin to see a growing trend to those who have the power too withdraw their sponsorship in the outlets and again they will have to answer that. The chickens will come home to roost and it will be justice.......
Obama got help from people that believe in him. People donated for that cause. The GOP waged terrible campains, McCain let Obama define himself. People are just really sick of the GOP and the narrow mindedness of it all and the horrific mistakes of the party in following the Bush doctrine.
So, yes, he got help, we are America, and we as a country are maturing. You can be part of that growth, or you can be a "no can do" individual that strains to keep yourself in that box you call your belief.
Whatisreal: People that belive in him? Like William Ayers, Reverend Wright, Louis Faracon, Oprah, Brad Pitt,Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson and everybody else that help to contribute to his uprising?
Is he really going to take their money and spread there wealth around to all the so called middle class people? We may be america but watch out Osama Hitler Bin Laden will come out to play and where will our wonderful american freedom stand! Maybe in Russia!!
"People that belive in him? Like William Ayers, Reverend Wright, Louis Faracon, Oprah, Brad Pitt,Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson and everybody else that help to contribute to his uprising?"
Naw. The 65 million Americans that voted for him.
You are a most pathetic person.
Why do you say that?
Are you for real? Seriously, are you that nuts??
There are many more like nommy. Scary.
I didn't think Rush Limbaughs buttt could talk! I guess it can...
Wow, you are a very fearful person. And very marginal to boot. I am cracking up! Sorry you lost and you are a sad panda, but you will get over it. If you have anynmore of that stuff you are on can I get some??? I need to leave reality for a while on my weekends off.
Sponsors will withdraw from NBC, CBS and ABC because of Tivo, not Obama. It is fascinating to troll the internet and observe the elaborate circular self-justifying reasoning that people construct to protect their own favorite fantasy world. Keep living it your own little La La land just please for God's sake don't ever cross my path or let it intersect with my world. If you want to believe African Americans are advataged in this country then let that be your own little delusion. Please stay inside your house to protect yourself and the rest of society.
I fail to see why you are picking on this post. Maybe you need to pick on someone who will put you in your place? Or, are you up to it?
It'll be troll meets troll. And, inevitably we'll exchange email addresses so we can troll each other. Lol! Don't make threats about being a troll and expect people like me to just pass on the invitation. Take it to new levels, you dipwad!
One year ago the Dow was the highest it had ever been on record. The Dow declined with the increased possibility of a Barack Obama presidency. Look at the graphs. When it started looking like Barack Obama could beat Hillary Clinton in the primary, the Dow declined more, and when it started looking more like Barack Obama had a good chance of beating John McCain in the general election the Dow took a nose dive. It is most likely because of Barack Obama's plans for increasing taxes on capital gains and dividends. Let us hope congress will block Barack Obama's plans for increasing taxes so that our investment markets can rebound to a healthy level again.
Thank God for the American Constitution which divides the powers of government. It is important to keep a balance of power between congress and the president. We never want one person to have too much power or unlimited power. That would be the complete downfall of the American system and our life of freedom for the individual. That is how the G.W. Bush administration got out of bounds because of a republican president and a republican congress. That sets up a power base for the president to be given too much power. It is important to put more republicans in congress while there is a democrat president. President Bill Clinton worked with a republican congress and he accomplished many good things for our country while he was in office. Voting is not just all about the president. It means paying attention to congress members, the president and the judicial system. When you start voting you need to do your homework and understand all of the components of the system as well as the issues so that you can vote responsibly.
God Bless America!!!
"One year ago the Dow was the highest it had ever been on record. The Dow declined with the increased possibility of a Barack Obama presidency. "
Oh, sure. It had NOTHING to do with a mountain of toxic mortgages. LOL.
Just refreshed my memory on the voting map of the USA and saw that Obama won by a very slim margin in 5 states and was close enough in a few other states that can quickly switch back to republican next time if they don't like the Obama presidency. I predict Obama won't have a free ride next time regardless of whether the media is biased for him or not. Obama will have to put some action where his mouth has been in the next year. Obama's record for the next four years is going to be an open book. He will not be able to hide it and bluff his way through the next election. A lot of people are going to leave the democratic party if it starts going too far to the left and register as independents or republicans. I may be one of them. I didn't vote for Obama this time because I think he lacks experience for the job and I still do not trust him. I think Obama is all talk and will not keep any of his campaign promises because some of them were pretty far fetched anyway. I think Barack Obama just said whatever he needed to say to get elected. You can bet your bottom dollar I will not be voting for Barack Obama next time unless he proves to me that he is worthy of my vote. I also plan to vote for republicans to send to Washington in the mid-term election so Obama won't have a rubber-stamp congress while he is in office. It is going to be interesting next year to see when Obama's approval rating starts going down.
Without Hillary Clinton's help in campaigning for Barack Obama and the huge amount of money Barack Obama had to spend brainwashing the nation with all of his television ads, and with the help of the biased media Barack Obama would not have been elected. John McCain is a far better man with a record of service to our country and he did very well against a democrat in a year when George W. Bush and Dick Cheney had completely tarnished the republican brand. John McCain did extremely and extraordinarily well considering the bias of the media in favor of Obama and the amount of money Barack Obama had to advertise himself as if he is some wonder product on the market, Without the October financial crisis which was no fault of John McCain nor was it any achievement by Barack Obama...John McCain would probably be the present president elect. Let's just hope the next four years will not be too painful!!
If Obama is going to govern from the center as Prez and not from the very left based on his stances in the the Primaries to win the democratic nomination). . . how will the leftists react? That I am curious to see. If Obama is smart, knowing theat most of the country is center, he will govern towards the center - which means he will have a whole lot of leftest voter groups being disgruntled majorly, like the unions in which Obama promised the following to him under his leadership of POTUS to get passed:
Obama has promised Unions that he will support doing away with Secret Ballot voting. If Obama holds true to allowing the doing away of secret ballot voting on unions it will represent the use of Saul Alinsky???s (his mentor from the past he took a course in and taught to students) scare tactics - to use intimidation to force workers to accept a union given their inherent fear of losing their job if voting no to a union.

WASHINGTON TIMES
Whose Special Interests?
By Thomas Sowell
We take it for granted that a vote means a secret ballot but it was not always that way. Moreover, it will not remain so for workers who vote on whether or not they want a labor union, if legislation sponsored by congressional Democrats and endorsed by Sen. Barack Obama becomes law.
Before there were secret ballots, voters dared not express their true preferences if those who watched them vote could retaliate - whether by firing them, beating them up or in other ways. Anyone who is serious about people being free to express themselves with their votes wants a secret ballot.

It is ironic to hear leaders from the conservative base criticizing the Bush-Cheney admin for excessive spending and irresponsible behavior, even accusing them of ???being too much like Democrats???. Several of these leaders now advocate that the Republican Party has to get back to Republican basics, as if Bush-Cheney etal were solely at fault, ignoring that the Republicans in congress, the Republican Party and yes, the conservative base too all strongly supported, even applauded and benefited from what transpired as it was happening. It is obvious that these conservative leaders are simply trying to blame Bush-Cheney and then once again manipulate public opinion. They apparently assume people are gullible and naïve and are always just sheep waiting to be herded. How can they continue to rationalize that they represent the party of Christian values when they lack any conscience for honesty? What the Republican Party really needs to get back to, what they got away from, a long way away from, is simple honesty ??? and boldly claiming to be Christian conservatives just doesn???t hide it!
I get upset and dismayed whenever I hear anyone use the term ???conservative??? as a compliment or the term ???liberal??? as a derogatory. I mean I just can???t imagine where these people have been or how they missed what has been happening all around them. It isn???t that the reverse is true either, just that it is untrue and greatly misleading to view either term in those regards. Actually either term can cover both good and bad qualities, qualities that can even alternate between good and bad depending on other factors, and the proponents advocating that one is absolutely good and the other is completely bad are making a more complex picture too simple, very likely just intending to create a bias favorable to their view. Take our current financial status and the significant fault ???conservative??? thinking and the resulting ???conservative??? policies have had in the development of the drastic meltdown. The philosophies of open markets and deregulation always seemed as being ???conservative??? thinking that had real merit yet the current results would seem to indicate quite the opposite is true. That of course would be another over simplification. No doubt the philosophies, in an academic way, really do have merit but in application they obviously need a more pragmatic implementation to include enough regulation, enforcement and real control to check human nature???s propensity for greed and dishonesty, for focus on self-interest and even illegal manipulation, for the realization that ???power corrupts and total power totally corrupts???. Then of course there is the condemning as ???liberal??? the having of any government programs to help the poor, as being a ???tax and spend??? mentality of the Democrats, thus lumping everything together as a negative. Going right along with that is they then advocate that Tax Cuts and breaks for the wealthy and big business stimulates the economy and then ???trickles down??? to everyone else.
continued from above:
The reality we have just drastically experienced, after the last eight years of that mentality, has shown clearly and very costly that there is no ???trickle down???. Also while there is value to encouraging people to step up and take care of themselves, to be responsible for their own status, it would be totally naïve to think and completely unreal to propose that there isn???t need for or any conditions requiring help (those that think otherwise very likely minimize the real differences in circumstances and opportunities). And then our economy could really be more accurately described as a ???bubble up??? economy as when you give the poor and middle-class more money, more help, they spend on real needs, to fix the car, pay the bills, buy a new refrigerator, go out to dinner,,, and it does stimulate the whole economy, including providing profits for businesses and the wealthy. And when people progress within the economy, moving upward, it again really stimulates the whole economy. In contrast, when you give more money to those who already spend all they want on whatever they want, you just make the wealthy wealthier (and likely then stimulate campaign contributions). Another reality of some interest is that history tells us that whenever the Democrats have been in power, the country has experienced a better economy. The whole point is that the terms can be used to create an impression that isn???t valid, that they are really used just to manipulate public opinion. We have just come through an election where the people, motivated by dire circumstances, took control, refused to continue accepting the subterfuge and self-serving dishonesty or to be manipulated by scare and smear tactics and instead expressed their desire to have real representation they felt was in their best interests. But now there are some already using the term ???conservative??? to rally support for resistance to any real change and using the term ???liberal??? to condemn any proposed changes. Hopefully the majority of people are now aware and they will recognize these efforts, whether with or without the terms, to reinstate the status quo recently experienced and won???t need to wait for another catastrophe before rejecting those powerful, subtle and self-serving manipulations. If the people can do that, as they have just done, then the politicians, all political parties, will have to abandon their loyalty to Special Interests and the select few and instead give the people more than just the apathy, costs and subterfuge of the past. That is something where the people can really step up, take charge and help themselves.
It is clear that when you look at the voting demographics my once proud GOP has lost it's way trying to cater to the religious nut jobs on the far right. Only two demographics voted in high numbers, over 65 and the evangicals. Someone get our party back to what it once stood for, small government and fiscal conservation.Obama had a better message and appealed to a larger population. He deserves to be POTUS
Nice summary, and very true. There is some seriouos rebuilding that needs to take palce in that party. They will have to decide if they are going to be center right or left behind and out of touch. Is turning back the clock more important than solving today and tommrrows issues. I say purge the people that cannot make changes, older evangelicals that are out of touch, for the younger more thoughtful more inclusive. Get fiscally responsible and live up to your roots, and align your party with proactive real time thinkers.
Great point.
Look in the mirror, "kboogie". You said "McCain should just drop dead" - Your words. Hmmm - Who is the racist here???
I didn't sat that. You're quoting another blogger.
Now K....are you calling people racist again?? LOL!!!

International Male??? Hmmm...I can live with that!! LOL!!
Austin Powers..international man of silly.
KB never said that.... no proof. Here is a suggestion...if you're going to accuse someone, get proof....in other words, put up or shut up.
Mwalimu na mimi rafikis: NDIO TUNAWEEZA!
A few months ago, the magazine American Prospect published a detailed analysis of Obama's governing style. The common portrayal of Obama as some sort of radical, liberal, leftist, communist, socialist, Muslim is rather misguided and certainly oxymoronic if you consider that the Prophet Muhammed was a rather successful merchant.
Obama tends to be cautious, pragmatic, and practical. He attempts to seek a multiple view of the problem and create a solution rather than governing from some sort of ideological dictates. His campaign tended to be somewhat measured and pragmatic - so will his governing.
Mwalimu: Do you refer to Nyerere or are you really a teacher? i used to be mwalimu kwa wana vipofu at a school in Tengeru (just outside Arusha).
BHO's style of cautious leadership may be fine for organizing a community fair, but it has little place in government where decisions must be made quickly, especially during a crisis. Face it, BHO is a post turtle. When you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top - that is a post turtle. You know he did not get up there by himself, he sure as heck does not belong up there, he does not know what to do while he is up there and you just wonder what kind of an idiot put him there in the first place. Many of his appointees will be the same.
Do not have too high or ambitious expectation, lest one gets more disappointed eventually.
Lots of people have little sense of individual judgment. The herd psychology works beautifully in the recent presidential election, unsurpassed and practically unprecedented.
But when it comes to reality and euphoria gradually fades away, scenario will change. Has one not noticed that the Dow quickly dipped by more than 400 points the very first day after the election? Where will the new administration get the money to fulfill all the promises?
And then history will happily repeat itself.
(Tan Boon Tee)
Wow! People are happy and you are being an idiot. Grow up, or should I say mature... Of course the jubilation will fade, there are a lot of challenges for this country. But folks like you are going to be swept aside so we can deal with things appropriately. I would fire you if you worked for me because I do not like bad applaes or "no can do" attitudes.
I've got news for you. The Dow has been dropping long before Obama was elected. In fact, it is lower than it was during Clinton's presidency.
I just got an anonymous email that the stock market is down because it was just learned that Obama will not be President 'til January.
Well "soulgolem - I wish I had money to give to her!
Lol! That's funny.
"getoveritnow", Couldn't agree more with your assessment of the party. Those things and the smear propagands caused me to vote for Obama.
A 40 year republican
Man it is great reading these postings...as a former republican I can see here in how my once proud party has been kidnapped by a bunch of religious nuts who have no real perspective or original thoughts. All you have to do is look at the voting demographics, the only group with a large percentage of voters for McCain was the over 65! It is clear the Democrats are the future and the Republicans are the past.
Americans nowaday are more and more day dreaming and denying the reality. Please take a close look to the world around you. It's 21st century already, China, India today is not of them just few years ago,
If you want to keep your American Dream, then you have to be smarter work harder and save more, otherwise your job will be taken by ... some Chinese or Indian (because their paycheck much much smaller than yours), your kids can not compete with their kids (because their kids know to set their goals and work much harder than your kids). Blaiming (or believing) on the president, on the goverment is not help you at all.
Do you think Obama and his Democrat fellows can change things around. can turn Kim Yong Ill to a kinder man, can turn Iran to a friendlier country.
Do you think Obama can help you to keep your house (where you shouldn't buy it in the first place).
Do you think Obama can help you to keep your job by stopping corporations to ship jobs oversea
Do you think Obama can provide everybody with affordable healthcare as his promises.
Keep hoping....
Nobody but yourself can help you.
Have you ever wondered why your neighbor, your relatives .. in very much the same situation but they seem get out of trouble.
For 65 million people who vote for Obama; Keep your fate and your believing because I know your vote is your hope for a better future. If four years from now you still complaining then you become an idiot..
To me, I still strongly believe on the principle of Conservative's wisdom. I'm a middle class man , my salary is under 60K, I and my wife support 2 kids and always take good care of ourself
I'm a Repubican, I love McCain and I believe He's a good man
by AllenTX
Amen!!!!!!!!!!!! AllenTX Glad we live in the RED state of Texas.. Good Bless Texas, we got it right....
I live in the state of Texas and was a delegate for Obama in a senate district which propelled him to the win over Clinton (narrowly)- so yes- Texas did get it right- it took Obama over the top of Hillary and without that he wouldn't have been the nominee and he wouldn't at this moment be your President and YOU ARE WELCOME! ; ) Thank God that the misled reign of George Bush and the Watergate throwbacks is over! What a mess they've left (again) Time to change the diaper of the spitting cobra again...woohoo
You live in the USA of America, Dumb A!!
And 2 Million or More [Texans] Voted for Obama.....
So I guess you Live in a Divided State
You Live in the USA and Barack Hussein Obama is Your President.....
You must Really Feel an Affection for George W. Bush Jr.....
Whata Great Example of Texan Pride & Honor.
Oh, now I get it! Texas!
Man, i love the food in Texas! Have some good friends in the Dallas FW area.
I like Obama, and think McCain is a great man. Just don't like what the GOP has become, there is no pride in that, just sadness and regret.
I do agree with much of what you say Allen. I think McCain is a great person. His campaign did some questionable things and didn't run verry effectively. More importantly, Americans have decided they don't like what the GOP stands for (at least some major parts of it).
I peronally tend to lean to the right, but the republicans need to wake up and realize that some of their policies just won't work, and it's not what the people want.
Now that Osama is elected, be prepared for the transformation to a Terrorist backed muslim country. Osama will use Biden as his first beheading to make his point to all of the people!!
I agree with you 100%. You arent far from the truth.
Correction... I applaud the right to free speech. But free speech can still be 'absolutely stupid'.
vfoster says: free speech = stupid speech
Therefore: vfoster = intelligence
Now that's stupid. Just because people can't say things the same way you or anyone else does doesn't mean they are stupid. In fact, the ability to communicate great things is the hallmark and tradition of money and politicians. Take heed of that!
How absolutely stupid.
What Obama means to this country is that there is a SUCKER born every minute, and Obama had just proved it by spinning his lies to all of the brain dead voters who supported him. Now everyone, let's see this Obama work his Moses like powers and see him get our country out of debt, out of wars, out of other countries business, out of the United Nations, Out of NATO, out of NAFTA, let's see him create millions of jobs that pay over $100,000/year for all, give FREE GOVERNMENT Medical, Prescriptions and Dental CARE, FREE COLLEGE TUITION FOR ALL CITIZENS, FREE BAIL OUT MONEY TO TAXPAYERS FOR PERSONAL DEBT, let's see if Obama is going to lower fuel cost to $1.00/Gal, FREE VACATIONS FOR APPLYING FOR THE ABOVE PROGRAMS, Free government surplus supplies that are just sitting around in warehouses across the country, free access to all Congressional meetings, free night stay in the white house, free ride on air force one, a free tour at the NORAD site in Colorado, there are just so many things that Obma can do for all of us, if he can keep all of these campaign promises!!!!
Well, you raise an interesting point that comes to mind. When Democrats make these promises and don't fulfill they get re-elected. Then you get a self-acclaimed conservative like Bush, who put himself forth as compassionate conservative, and he fulfills his promises of government involvement and he gets flushed down the drain because he is not a Democrat trying to do all of the same things. People need to realize privatization of government resources is the only successful recourse. Newt Gingrich could teach anyone all about that. Maybe he should run for president.
I will settle for him being a leader and commander-in-chief. Haven't had one of those for a long time.
