Congratulations to Barack Obama and to the Afro-American community! God bless you all.
Congratulations to Barack Obama and to the Afro-American community! God bless you all.
Right back at you Nins. It has been quite the experience blogging on this site since the primaries. It has been so very intense. But then, we have not seen a Presidential campaigne so intense to bring out the number of voters that we have seen. I only pray that the inspiration and hope that you and other Obama supporters have in Barack will truly turn this country around given all the doubts I have had about him. I will try to give him the benefit of the doubt moving forward . . . and hope for the best for this country to get out of the mess we are currently in.
I and his other supporters will put our best selves forwards to try to deserve that benefit.
It has been a pleasure blogging with you on the boards this year. Here's hoping we can resolve our differences and work towards a better and brighter future.
I second that about Nins and extend it to you, Share. It has been a pleasure blogging (and venting!) with you both, among other posters here. I just got back from the poll about an hour ago and I told a fellow poll judge this morning that, at the end of the day, this country was not going to be the same. This is a different country now, this country changed below our feet today, and I am glad to be a witness to it and to share that with you.
Group hug, everyone! : )
I still don't know what to say. I'm amazed, humbled and uplifted at the same time. Things that I knew to be impossible are not impossible anymore. I truly feel right now that the past does not determine the future.
We live in great times that call for great solutions. It's downright cool to have hope for the future, and as the man said, our union isn't perfect and needs TLC. We're all in this together.
Thanks, all, for the repartee over these last few months!

Congrats to Obama! For loriw, sharenews, hollyroller, the people have spoken. Let freedom ring. :-) Next time listen more to conventional wisdom.
Mark, Last time I looked it was a democracy to have your own views on whom you feel you are comfortable to vote for regardless of the outcome. (See my comment to Nins posted at 1:36:05 Nov 5).
SoulGolem, are you saying that Government should not assist business in any way? So there should be no more subsidies given to the likes of coal and oil?
No, businesses should not be subsidized nor taxed to death, YankeeSpat. They should generally be left alone to prosper on their own. If they cannot prosper on their own, they should be allowed to fall. This is called competition.
Thanks for your obviously genteel ways of responding to my simple question. I was just trying to determine exactly where you stood on your comment. I wasn't sure why you would be so hard on a Government change, when the current Government has not appeared to do much to keep the US economy from floundering.
Bush does not represent my political views.
I was speaking of Government in general. Both parties dropped the ball here as neither appear to have stepped up to the plate to watch out for America.
I agree.
Your welcome, YankeeExpat.
You have reached for the fruit at the end of the skinny branch. God save us all.
