You rate Fox behind CNN? But Fox is the number 1. So "assorted bits" you saw really dont line up with the watches.. I wonder you you work for CNN?

American media fails again. They should report the news, not editorialize it. It is OK to have an opinion, but say it is an opinion. No network, radio or television, did a good job last night, last week, last month or even last year. If they claim they did, they are lying to themselves and to the American public.

The mainstream media and Hollywood finally got their way. What an incredible marketing effort they employed! Indeed, Obama couldn't have done it without them.

Comment: ???Technology? Personalities? Is that how we evaluate journalism now? What a noble profession! Here's one: how about objective, unbiased investigation and reporting? Nah....I'd rather be spoon fed my opinions from the far left (MSNBC) or the far right (FOX).....or the mainstream left (CNN). Anyone out there want to start a new network......one that does actual "Journalism"????

You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, it all comes down to money. The media is more about money than actual journalism. We definitely are not what our Founding Fathers have envisioned and it is all due to the oh mighty dollar. It is sad that many people are brainwashed by the media. What is even sadder is that the young generation and future generations think or will think that this behavior by the media, and what they actually report, is acceptable. It really is a sad perpetual dysfunction of modern society.

    MSNBC: ZERO
    CNN: ZERO
    ABC, CBS: ZERO
    FOX: 8
Larry King: Old and tired and ugly as sin. Time to retire. MINUS 25

I am disgusted that the networks were predicting the "winner" before many states had even closed their voting booths. Honestly, can't they at least wait until we have a chance to vote before telling us that our vote does not matter??? Also the Media hype and EXTENDED coverage is like brainwashing. We all know without the repeating, by your news people you would have no jobs. I think in these economic times we need to look into cuttiong back on the media coverage and the people the networks employ, for God knows how much money????

The news media selected who would be the next President, starting with the Primary....It worked for so many that didn't look beyond and who couldn't see the big picture. I will never, never watch MSNBC again, CNN will be rarely viewed and certain News magazines will be limited. That will make my resources come from the internet and books. This is fine but sad. I have always relied heavily on NBC. Never again. TV news coverage will be at the bottom of my ratings!

  • Posted By: truckbuster2002 @ 11/05/2008 11:40:54 AM

This President belongs to the media since they did everything could do to get him elected. This was also one of the most expensive elections ever. This country will need prayers now more then ever.

truckbuster2002 you are so right. A pox on the lot of them.

The Republicans are so gracious and honorable in their defeat. Democrats take note! I hope now we will no longer hear your hostility and personal attacks and condescension. Grow up folks! Lets have civility!

  • Posted By: linnamary @ 11/05/2008 12:20:59 PM

Way too many projections....why not just wait and see.? Also all those analysists(who must not have anything important to do are a bore) Also started way too early covering this.. Media hype is half of our nations problems...they take a story and drag it out for months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!like this Caylee disappearance, Put the Mom in jail and leave her there. When she realizes there is no more media she will talk and take her punishment....

  • Posted By: SuzyQ1 @ 11/05/2008 12:20:58 PM

So everybody went on babbling all evening and all night ad nauseum. Then comes daylight and guess what? Blaa, blaa, blaa. Enough already. How about doing something intelligent like waiting untill ALL polls close, ALL votes are counted and then tell us who got enough votes to be elected to whatever office, then shut up and sit down? Oh what a relief that would be. Then you could tell us if the war is still on, the financial world is up or down, who killed whom, etc. I could not find anything redeeming about Fox, ABC, CBS, NBC, or PBS. Boring, the whole lot of non newspeople.

I am so disgusted that the networks were already predicting the "winner" according to exit polls, before many states had even closed their voting booths. Honestly, can't they give us a chance to vote first??

I agree with many of the comments about the biased reporting. The one question I wish any reported had had the guts to ask is " If Obama was a white democrat would he stiff have gotten that high a percentage of Afro-American's votes?

    • Posted By: JWelhaus @ 11/05/2008 12:16:36 PM

Actually, that is an interesting question. Hiram_Wi, the difference is in regards to if we elected a man for his race, or did we elect him for his solid political plan for this country? You do know that the media and Hollywood have been conditioning us to accept people with minority heritage for years? That is good, but it shouldn't be forced upon us if someone isn't completely qualified or deserving of it. Sen. Obama sounds like a good man, but surely you can understand that he has very little experience to run this country. We do not know if we just elected a person like Bill Clinton or another George Bush. There simply isn't enough information in regards to his experience to make a solid, well thought out determination. Some people might find that scary.

    • Posted By: robiboyd @ 11/05/2008 11:54:07 AM

Just curious; what difference does your question make??

  • Posted By: dlowell58 @ 11/05/2008 12:12:04 PM

Your comments are misguided and backwards from reality. Most biased in their order are: 1) MSNBC - simply discarded all pretext at honest unbiased reporting shortly after Mathews experiencing the thrill up his leg - Operman is discusting - Rachel Maddow is Oberman in drag -- NONE of them deldom if ever have any pundits or guests who would disagree with their fawning, fainting prejudice reportage: 2) /CNN tries to do a good fair job, but mostly failes - the one glaring ecception is Lou Dobbs, who is terrific, unbiased and fair to all sides and presents more in depth discussion and real info on both sides than any other network programs; 3) Fox does a good but not outstanding job of presenting info and pundits from all sides -- your description of their demeanor as "smarter than you" and "hate you" is simply misguided at best and at worst an ugly and biased comment in and of itself: Your article frankly, misinforms and sinks to the level of MSNBC coverage as I described it abovel;.

  • Posted By: js1958 @ 11/05/2008 12:10:55 PM

Then you must have been an Obama supporter

  • Posted By: js1958 @ 11/05/2008 12:06:59 PM

The media was so biased it wasn't even funny. The only network that tried to give both sides was Fox News. Obama had the media right were he wanted them, in his back pocket. I will never watch any news show but Fox from here on out. McCain didn't have a chance because of the media.

  • Posted By: denhean @ 11/05/2008 11:29:10 AM

The final exam.....really? The media (journalism) died during this campaign because they were so slanted left. They so hated Bush they were blinded to the fact that they are suppose to report the news....not make it and not give their personal opinions. That may be the reason Fox news has enjoyed such high ratings. Now, Alston wants to tell us who won the media coverage on election night.....surprise! he thinks CNN won. Wow, I am so shocked that one left slanting publication would pick another left leaning media outlet to be the best. I now wait for the media to tear apart Obama. They built him up, helped him win, but they will get bored. They will start to investigate him during their boredom. I hope that can live with what they find. It was there all the time, but they were so caught up in the hero worship that they just peddled what everyone else was saying. The media, with few exceptions are a bunch of sheep too afraid to report the truth or look for it. Jornalism has lost its way. It may be lost forever. The sad thing is the only loser is the American public and America itself.

    • Posted By: missmoni @ 11/05/2008 12:06:19 PM

But Americans dont like Bush either! His approval rating is the worst of ANY president EVER! Look at the mess he got us into! And most of it WITHOUT VALID EXPLAINATION! So, its no wonder we are all elated about the CHANGE we are experiencing! (*YES WE DID!!!) =)

denhean - they weren't too happy about females in the race, either.

I'm amazed that Newsweek actually ranks Fox network the lowest. That was so unexpected!!!! The liberal leanings of the media today is pathetic and risk becoming irrelevant regardless of the self congratulatory practices in which they participate. You are simply confusing "dull" with balanced coverage-- something that MSNBC in particular and other networks have not been. Newsweek and the these networks should be embarassed at their lack of objectivity and obvious biases covered by dilusions that your ratings or subscriptions have been improved. Facts have not been a part of this election coverage in general. Fox gets nailed for actually providing facts and realize that the huge numbers of people who watch Fox news (both democrat and republican) do so because they are the most fair and balanced. Here are some facts -- Fox election coverage for Obama and McCain contained equally 40% negative stories; while MSNBC coverage of McCain included over 70% negative stories compared to less than 30% negative for Obama. Hide that reality in your elite, liberal biases!!!!!

Consider the source. Newswee is so liberal and bias, they can't stand themselves. Love Fox news. Con't always agree but they are fair and have as many democrats on there as Republicans. More than I can say for the rest.
