I think that the media is a sorry excuse for up to date information. McCain, Palin, Hilary or even "Joe the Plumber" didnt stand a chance. The media was happy to make up or dig up any dirt on them they could find or lie about. But when it came to Obama....OH lets praise him....that was all I ever saw, with the exception of Fox News, If it werent for them McCain would have never stood a prayer!!! We need to do our OWN homework when it comes to getting information on our Presidential Nominee's, and NOT listening to the so called media. Lets get our own facts and make up our own mind and stop letting the media make up our minds for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone is blind it's Obama supporters! We all want change but NOT that kind. Now we have a president who is a well speaker with great corisma, with no experience as a Senator, no military background and will not say the pledge of allegiance. Not to mention that he hasn't proved that he is a natural born citizen and what about his radical preacher for 20 years??? Change for the worse is all you're going to get and you asked for it!!!

It is interesting that as bad as Sen. McCain lost in the electoral college, he really didn't lose that bad in the popular vote. That really goes to show how divided we are as a country. It seems the larger a state is, the more liberal it becomes. I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I guess we are going to find out.

I am tired of the media reporting the results from the east coast BEFORE the polls close on the west coast. This causes state and local measures not to be voted on since people stop going to the polls when this happens. I thought this was corrected but I guess not. The polls should open at the same time across the country and close at the same time, so if the polls open on the east coast at 7:00am then the polls on the west coast open at 4:00am.

      4AM, are you SERIOUS??

      • Posted By: ljd1800 @ 11/05/2008 1:34:18 PM

I think missmoni is very serious, people actually get up and stand in line to see Britney Spears in concert at all hours of the night or spend the night in Wal-Mart's parking lot to buy their child the latest toy craze, so why would a person not get up at 4:00 am to go vote for the President of the United States, Ummmmmm! You fill in the blank..........

      • Posted By: ljd1800 @ 11/05/2008 1:24:08 PM

yes I think they are, people get up to go stand in line for concert tickets and to buy toys for their children and will spend the night in a parking lot if they have to. So for something as important as voting for the President of the United States, I also think they can get up at 4AM

wildraino626, i would agree with you that the people at fox news which is a republican run news gave mccain favorable news especially sean of hannity and colmes, he hated obama since obama started running. how many of us run a police check of the people we work with. but they were wrong, this country need a change, and opefully we come together rep/dem/ind/ as one people.

I am physically sick at the moment. But then I think, ok, come January, I can quit my job and the Obamanation will send me a check every month and give me the same insurance he has in the government . Was I stupid to vote my conscious for McCain and to think I should work hard for everything I want? Sounds like it to me.

    • Posted By: nommy @ 11/05/2008 12:45:43 PM

shows that you are a wishy washy person!! Oh ya how great is health insurance going to be when you only have 1 dr to see and you have to wait 1 year to see him!! Socialised Medicine is so great Ya!!
You did right voting for Mccain!!

      • Posted By: aroseisarose @ 11/05/2008 1:28:32 PM

You are sooooo stupid! You have swallowed Barack Sin Ladens lies hook line and sinker! Duh! Boy you need to read what Sen. John McCains policy would have been, given the chance to implement it!

Can the US propaganda media machine persuade Americans to vote for Charles Manson as the next President? ....I think they could. What say you.

  • Posted By: wildrain0626 @ 11/05/2008 1:26:53 PM

if it wasnt for fox news mccain would have never stood a prayer. the media was always praising obama, never tried to dig up the dirt like they did on McCain, Palin or even Hilary, "Joe the Plumber" didnt even stand a prayer, The media did a VERY SORRY job, and I will never give them the time of day when elections come around again. We need to start doing our OWN homework instead of listening to the idiots on TV!!!

  • Posted By: USMC Mom @ 11/05/2008 1:26:45 PM

ANother point - MOnday - the discussion was "what wil Palin do?" Excuse me - don't take anyone's vote away just because YOU think it's over.

TV news media is corrupt. It is incomprehensible what a once honorable profession has become. Follow the money. Corporate stiffs could care less as long as ratings and the viewing public can be manipulated to fit an agenda. As a retired media middle management professional, with degrees in communications and journalism, I personally find TV political media coverage, at best, repulsive. Cronkite, how we miss you, sir.

I really enjoy Britt Hume as a brodcaster. I know people think he is boring but maybe I just like that. He is really smart too and not biased. The same reason I really like Tom Brokaw. He was never biased and was really low key in speaking. Britt is retiring and Tom has already. I just hope the 'cheerleader' crowd of hosts tone it down a bit. I hope there is at least one 'boring' host in years to come! :)

Again The networks start predicting who is going to win prior to polls closing in the West - this has to have an effect - #1, People don't vote because they think it's already decided or #2, they change their vote because they want to be part of the winning team. THe news should just be quiet until everyone has a chance to vote.

  • Posted By: jonadam @ 11/05/2008 1:16:31 PM

you don't get your head shot on top of the magazine because you cute, silly boy. but you do so because you have shown the ability to move people. also, fox news talked more about sen. Mccain than obama and that should given him advantage. while obama buying time, sen. Mccan time was free on fox. of course cnn should be ranked on top, you guys are blind or what? if they were bias, it were balance between the candidates compared to fox which had republican news cast touting about sen. Mccain.

You must not heard of a television station code named MSNBC.

  • Posted By: holdingmybreath @ 11/05/2008 1:22:49 PM

Interesting that an independent research found that Fox News was the most 'fair and balanced' of the networks with MSNBC being one of the most biased... Despite all of this, I have to agree with those that it is a sad day when one cannot place any credence in the reporting (either written or verbal) done by journalists whose schooling should have emphasized Truth and objectivity. We want to be like the world- this reminds me of when I've been in Russia and few other countries... We've arrived at last......

downeaster had this to say:earlier this morning "Comment: I was really unhappy to see all these 'projected wins' posted at 8pm eastern time while polls were still open for 3 more hours on the west coast. That just leaves one very poor taste in my mouth when you consider how much that could have influenced voters.: I think there have been other similar comments. As my Daddy used to say, "There ought to be a law." That would be the only way to stop this unconscionable practice of broadcasting projected winners before the entire nation has voted. Of course, the non newspeople would scream bloody murder. Their rights being denied, and all that blather. Heave forbid that they should show responsibility toward their fellow citizens by stopping this truly wrong practice of reporting "news" before it is news.

  • Posted By: JWelhaus @ 11/05/2008 1:21:55 PM

Comment: I think I have a great idea. Instead of these candidates spending money out of control for their campaigns, why not have a cap on the spending and all of the extra money to be redistributed down to the families that really need it? How about a cap of about $5,000,000 for each candidate? That leaves about $590,000,000 from just Sen. Obama's campaign alone to give to the less fortunate. Wow! Does anyone else agree?

  • Posted By: time2work @ 11/05/2008 12:42:34 PM

To Donna- I totally agree! I thought I was living in a one party Country! I am not a Republican or Democrat-just an American that believes that elections should be fair. The coverage on this election was not fair.

    • Posted By: ocene525 @ 11/05/2008 12:52:38 PM

We all see things from our perspectives first If you had to report would you have done differently. If you are not a democrat or republican are you an UFO

      • Posted By: aroseisarose @ 11/05/2008 1:16:03 PM

A who? a UFO? Please explain that absurd comment!

  • Posted By: mo_texas @ 11/05/2008 1:16:02 PM

While I'm glad the election process is over and we can - as one people - look forward, I think the media was extraordinarily biased throughout the campaign. Pres-Elect Obama is charismatic, smart and an admirable role model for our country regardless of race. McCain is dignifited, smart, determined, and he too has demonstrated through a lifetime of actions his love of this country, its people and we all owe him our sincerest gratitude. The media did a poor job of "fair" representation of both men and their running mates. Bottomline, we are all Americans, and with hope and determination we can - if we choose - rise above the pettiness. I trust that the media will review their actions, words and unbiasedly look at how enamored you have been with Obama from the beginning and learn the lessons of equity, fairness and simple humanity. You owe, Senator McCain, Gov. Palin, and Senator Hilary Clinton a sincere apology.

By far MSNBC was the best, CNN was also in the ball!
Sorry for Fox, specially Bill Crystal, it looked as if he just lost his best friend! and defenitely they showed their bias against the Democratic party! what ashame!

    • Posted By: JWelhaus @ 11/05/2008 1:15:58 PM

You have to be kidding me about MSNBC being the best? Yes, if you are a liberal! Likewise for Fox if you are a conservative. I would have to say that Lou Dobbs reported truly the most accurate and neutral information. Unfortunately, many have no idea how well he represents the views of our Founding Fathers and the American people.
