I think I have a great idea. Instead of these candidates spending money out of control for their campaigns, why not have a cap on the spending and all of the extra money to be redistributed down to the families that really need it? How about a cap of about $5,000,000 for each candidate? That leaves about $590,000,000 from just Sen. Obama's campaign alone to give to the less fortunate. Wow! Does anyone else agree?

I absalutely agree I said months ago that Obama was buying this election, and he did just that.

    • Posted By: aroseisarose @ 11/05/2008 1:09:11 PM

Great idea now tell that to Warren Buffett, Colin Powell and those other fools that wanted thier names in lights for "generously " giving to Barack Bin Ladin Obama!

Obama should agree. After all that's what his campaign was all about.

Never have i been a witness to such biased news reporting. It must have been nice to have all that free advertising we as Mccain supporters wouldn,t know. It was a disgrace to the millions of us who depend on the news for equal time and fair practices. Shame on you!

For all this news, we still do not know Barrack Obama.

Then again, you are merely an extension of his PR firm...Will you ever question him, now that you might lose access to the White House if you do?

Will you actually be reporters and look into the hundreds of thousands...million$ of dollars that flowed into his campaign from overseas? He will be president, but we need to clean it up for next time.

We need to get the hundreds of thousands of people registered to vote in multiple states arrested. Will you, as a 'trusted' news source do this? News. Find it. Report it.

How did the Media do? Shameful.

  • Posted By: greentag @ 11/05/2008 1:10:31 PM

This election was not won on the basis of who would do what, or what their record was. It was won by the liberal press beating the drum for a liberal Democrat. They had a scape goat in Bush, blaming all the problems of the economy and the Iraqi war, and anything else they could think of on a lame duck president who could not control a democratic congress. It was not Bush who put us in the mess our country is in and it will not be cleaned up by a liberal president with another Democratic congress throwing money away and screwing the middle class again.

  • Posted By: wiseman4sure1 @ 11/05/2008 1:10:03 PM

The media sure played the race card. they downplayed the lies and the broken promises by Obama and never asked where the 605 million dollars came from.as for McCain, the media always bashes the other political candidates.SNL is proof of that too.they don't have a resonable Obama facsimilie. Now we will have a rubber stamp for socialism.

Never have I had to endure such biased news reporting on the behalf of barak obama. It must be nice to get all that free advertisement at no expense to the democrats. sherry in miss

You chose "The Technology" and "The Personalities" as your most important journalistic performance factors? Whatever happened to "Truth", the first obligation of Journalism, or "Verification of Sources", a discipline journalists are supposed to be notorious for rigorously enforcing. There is supposed to be a distance between the subject being reported and the reporter. In order to maintain objectivity, that distance is required. Instead, we saw "reporters" rubbing their hands in glee and applauding a McCain defeat. McCain and Palin truly lost the election for themselves by missing the point and portraying themselves as just plain folk. We didn't need "Just Plain Folk", we needed someone who was intelligent enough to turn the tide on the faltering economy and end the war without losing Iraq. However, the American Press did the Republicans no favors by reveling in every empty word Obama said, and reviling McCain and Palin for their inadequacies. The whole campaign was flawless for the Obama camp, and rife with mistakes and missed opportunities for McCain and Palin. I can't say I blame the press for pointing out the obvious, but the bias was so apparent it was distressing. On every channel I saw, journalism lacked the priciples that should be the foundation of a free press. Now, I'm not upset that Obama won, because I see this as an opportunity for our nation to rise above the despicable situation Bush put us in. Obama is an intelligent, compassionate man who believes in the American ideals. We need to get past the ugly rhetoric of the campaign. But maybe we can also take a breather from Political Cronyism and get the "Liberal Press" back on the side of truth, verification, and fairness. Every channel showed bias.

HE IS A FAR LEFT LIBERAL THAT WILL SINK THIS COUNTRY , THANKS TO THE DAMN MEDIA BOTH TV AND NEWSPAPERS. YOU DID THE SAME TO US COMMING BACK FROM VIETNAM . YOU PICTURED US AS BABY KILLERS AND ALL WE WANTED TO DO WAS SURVIVE, A USMC COMBAT VET

This election was the worst in all of my 50+years of voting! To watch how the media selected Obama as their candidate and then to go so far as to even select his opposition was almost too obvious. Then you add in the "Jim Jones" effect of having everything that Obama said and did broadcast to the masses. It's no wonder that Obama won! Now let's see how he squirms out the promises he made. 1st - "give amnesty to Illegal immigrants", 2nd- "priority to put americans back to work". People, you can't have it both ways! Just not enough to go around. Simple fact!

  • Posted By: One Voice among millions @ 11/05/2008 12:55:52 PM

I completely agree with most of what has been said here I think that the Media does a great job of pushing their propaganda, which is so unevenly shifted to the left side. My issue is more that as an american nation we follow them like sheep to the slaughter never questioning what they say, never looking into these things for oursleves and doing our own research to find the truth. To me that is the sadest and scariest part.

    • Posted By: aroseisarose @ 11/05/2008 1:04:22 PM

I totally agree with you on the sheep comment and that is why making truly informed decisions is what this freedom of speech and having elections is really all about! I did some research and took my time before voting and not based on opinions fron TV media , mailings, obnoxious phonecalls from groups supporting thier own agenda etc. Sheep follow anyone and can and have fallen into ditches because they just follow the crowd!

I am so disappointed in how the networks (Katie Couric in particular) showed their bias during the election. I thought once you accepted the job of a news anchor, (or station representative of any kind that is visible and reporting information), you should also accept the job of NOT showing any bias in things like politics. This also translates into not showing bias if involved in public appearances. Just like athletes, Miss America (and others), and the president of the U.S. are all figures that people, especially children, look up to and are subject to having their behavior monitored. Since that is the job or activity they chose, they need to also remember the responsibility that goes with it. They are role models to a lot of children and their behavior should reflect that. Actors also need to realize the paparazzo is a part of that profession if they choose to be an actor. More young people were tuned into the election prcess than ever before and I feel the fact that so many campaigns chose to be so negative gave children the wrong impression, that if you are negative and mean or if you have more money to spend than others, you can still win in life. Is that really what we want our kids to learn? I did not vote, or not vote, for a candidate because of race, my vote was for the candidate that I felt held the same beliefs and values that I want my children to learn. I was very disappointed in network stations that accepted Obama's money for a 30 minute message last Wed. night. The fact that he flip-flopped on his choice to not stick to party donations only also shows kids that if you do not hold to your promises and if you have more money you can "buy your way" into a job or other activities. I just hope that America can truly stay One Nation UNDER GOD like Obama finally said in his acceptance speech, "thank you, God bless you and God bless America". I hope that he will finally show children that he respects the Flag, God, and our National Anthem. Our children do this, and our soldiers do this, so I hope our President will do this and never say that our Flag is a sign of Oppression again. What message is this sending to our soldiers (and their families) who are fighting a some giving their lives representing our country? I want every soldier to feel proud and supported by our country just like I want us and our children to be. I do hope that this is a time of renewed love for our country because I feel it has been missing that love during the campaign. I hope the veterans and our men and women currently serving in the military feel love and supported, as they should, for their service protecting our rights; to vote, and to live in a free country full of wonderful opportunities.

TO: MS_fighter - where were you in 2000 and 2004 when by all unbiased admissions FOX news was merely a media outpost of the republican party. Now I personally do not like the FOX approach and agree that MSNBC has a liberal bias. So what - neither you nor I are compelled to watch any particular channel. Since FOX is the leader in ratings among the cable channels - why were they unable to influence the outcome of the election? The reason is that no news network can create a voter sunami. Use your brain.

  • Posted By: maeguy @ 11/05/2008 1:01:32 PM

I DIDNT LIKE THE BIAS THE NEWS NETWORKS SHOW. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE NEWS MEDIA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE UNBIASED IN REPORTING ON ELECTION CAMPAIGNS. ANYWAY, I REALLY MISSED TIM RUSSERTS DRY-ERASE BOARD. HE WAS AMAZING WITH HIS CALCULATIONS. OTHER THAN THAT, THE ELECTION NIGHT REPORTING WAS SUFFICIENT, JUST COULDNT SEE HOW PROJECTIONS ARE MADE WITH ONLY 1% OF VOTES BEING COUNTED.

  • Posted By: jwarnold @ 11/05/2008 12:58:24 PM

You must have someone working for CNN! They were the most biased of all of the networks. To have them ranked ahead of any other network is proposterous! All of these networks need to be ashamed of the way this election was handled, from start to finish. The media pushed these two candidates on us from jumpstreet! Neither one of these candidates should have been there.

  • Posted By: jg2711 @ 11/05/2008 12:23:47 PM

The coverage was pretty much the same as it has been throughout the primaries and campaign; the networks stopped reporting and became "supporters." CNN 8; MSNBC 2; CBS 2; ABC 2; NBC 2; Fox 4.

    • Posted By: Donna from Fl. @ 11/05/2008 12:32:50 PM

I have lost all hope with the media. Obama should write thank you letters to all of them. He couldn't have done it without them.

      • Posted By: ocene525 @ 11/05/2008 12:58:20 PM

If Mccain had won would he have to thank the media

  • Posted By: JWelhaus @ 11/05/2008 12:57:50 PM

For those people who didn't think the media was bias, well all you have to do is take a tally for how many magazines Sen. Obama was on the cover of in the last month leading up to Election Day. FYI, I personally didn't see one magazine with Sen. McCain on the cover. As for Sen. Obama, I saw at least four. It is unbelievable how the media can mind control people.

  • Posted By: Tex75 @ 11/05/2008 12:27:14 PM

I had a very low opinion of the American people before the election. Now it's in the toilet. No more free-thinkers, just a bunch of followers wanting to jump on the bandwagon. Oh, wait, that sounds pretty socialist. You voted for him, now enjoy. Four years of disgrace and people will once again be ready for "change".

    • Posted By: ocene525 @ 11/05/2008 12:57:34 PM

If you endured8 yrs of Bush things cant get any worse. Oops they can because a black man is now in charge

  • Posted By: Memabird1 @ 11/05/2008 12:57:05 PM

I disagree with your assessment of Fox. I thought they were the best. They werer fair and balanced, not pro-Obama. By the way, I am a Democrat so my party affiliation has nothing to do with my opinion.

  • Posted By: jerzyboy349 @ 11/05/2008 12:32:41 PM

To all of those Fox haters out there, I never watched Fox before, but they are now Numero Uno on my list.
They provided the only balanced news coverage of any of the media outlets. And I am not a right-winger so save your venom, you lousy leftist extremists! After this, be prepared for a GOP uprising like you have never seen before. The time to prepare for 2012 is NOW!
