TO JOE THE PLUMBER MMATEO: CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF 75% OF WELFARE IS WHITE. ANYTHING OTHER THAN THIS IS JUST A DELUSION THAT THE MEDIA WOULD HAVE YOU TO BELIEVE. I MUST SAY THAT IT WAS QUITE REFRESHING TO SEE CAUCASIANS ON THE BACKLASH OF WHAT IS GENERALLY A BLACK MAN RECEIVING THE BRUNT OF A RACIST STICK. AND BY THE WAY, YOU STILL SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ABORTION.

OMG! tas758 - you drank the cool-aid and even with all the reports pointing that it was made up Republican lies - you are hanging on to the terrorist lies! I use to think the American public was stupid - but last night restored my faith in humanity. You just reminded me that there are still stupid Americans out there! What a shame. Keep your hatred up - I am sure that attitude will go a far distance in healing our country. Go back in your hole and sleep for the next 20 years. We don't need people like you being 'unpatriotic'! Wait - that is what the Republicans use to say to people who thought different. Can the Democrats use that same philosphy on people like you? I think they are above that type of ignorance - thank God!

No mention of how Obama went back on his pledge/promise of sticking to Campaign Financing Limits, allowing Obama to outspend McCain 4-1? How about the "dark" and unsupported smears he threw at McCain as a spender, or how McCain would tax people's Social Security and Health Care benefits (go to FactCheck.org)? So basically Obama bought the campaign using smears and mudslinging on a 4-1 basis over McCain. "We the People" just sold out the Presidency to the highest bidder/spender. We allowed an untested, unproven individual buy the office over someone who proved himself and even sacrificed himself in service to this nation multiple times. We should all pray that God has mercy on us....we should all be ashamed of what we just allowed to happen. I pray that Obama doesn't use the next for years as OJT and instead can use his gift of rhetoric to make things happen (in a bipartisan fashion) for the actual greater good of the entire nation, and not just the few. We need to clean up Washington and set a new course without the usual earmarks and pork barrel spending that's been the norm.

but it was ok when bush did it the past 2 elections. Right? oops, except that was HIS OWN MONEY and not donations of people that believed in a campaign. How dumb, just a bunch of sore losers.

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/05/2008 3:09:39 PM

The biggest spender who we the people gave our money to by choice!

Bush 43? A compassionate conservative? What is that? Yesterday was the election of transparency. It's no longer acceptable to tell people what they want to hear, and then do whatever you like with their trust. Last night was a referendum on honesty. That's why these despicable tactics of campaigns past blew up in John's face. Karl Rove's time has past. And Rush Limbaugh. And Bill O'Reilly. And all these infamous fabricators.

Sure, some will still listen, but for the most part, the American people won???t. Today, you lie to the public at YOUR OWN RISK. No more wolves in sheep's clothing. If you want power, you have to honor and serve. Not just some, but ALL OF THEM. And, sadly, or humorously, depending on your point of view, Republicans' own propaganda finally bit them in the ass. The economy was but a canvass, not the painting. Get it yet?

If Obama makes the same mistake as Bush 43 and McCain (he was found lacking on honesty), he will meet with a similar fate, and hopefully, more rapidly (we cannot wait for 8 more years). We witnessed a sea change last night (and the night before in Manassas), as it has been rising for most of this election season (and long before if you had listened, instead of judged). But, if it is taken for granted,, it can rise up in another port much more rapidly than politicians or the media can imagine. Obama understands this. Do you?

Instead of analyzing why McCain's campaign didn't work like it was designed, that only encourages more of the same, better to understand the public, for the most part, is tired of lies, deception, and threats of the "bogeymen coming to get us". We cannot live in FEAR, we ARE Americans. John became a tempest in a teacup before our eyes, and at a time, when the nation is in deep trouble.

The GOP turned John into a cartoon. Such a shame, many people would have followed the old John, the one who gave that speech last night, and we might have been having a different discussion today. It would have been a much healthier campaign. One we as Americans could have been proud of. I would have liked that debate.

Joe the Plumber, Bob the Barber, and Sarah the Maverick were fictions. Didn't the GOP know any real people? Maybe then, they would have discovered what's happening out here. Instead of trying to "spin" the national mood, perhaps they should have simply chosen to honor and serve the public. Selling BS in this country, just got a whole lot harder after last night...

If the man moves the country in the direction he promised, it's going to be all right. The Capitol One barbarians will NOT be rampaging through our neighborhoods, lol. Take a deep breath, look out the window, and see the sky's still there. So, let's start figuring out how to fix this fine mess.

In short, GOP meet accountability. AND:

War is NOT the answer. Only love can conquer hate. SO, What's goin??? on, America?

    • Posted By: 4carol @ 11/05/2008 3:58:13 PM

Wonderful comment, Mr. Pitts. The speech last night was about America winning and hoping and working for better for ALL! I, for one, am so tired of the divisiveness and hate and racism; it's no wonder that it is a rarity whenever good things get accomplished in this country. Given a chance, which everyone is entitled to, I believe we will see a change we can believe in for ALL America and for our very bruised relations with the rest of the world. I, for one, am willing to look to the future for brightness. We are a global figure in this new century and we cannot remain with our eyes in the rear view mirror or we cannot grow as a (united)people and as a nation!!!

  • Posted By: jlgab @ 11/05/2008 3:42:23 PM

FINALLY, a positive future, something to look forward to! Now we can walk with our heads held high. Leadership we can trust and be proud of, something we have not been able to do for 8 long years. A good legacy to leave our children and grandchildren and generations to come. A legacy of promise, hope, and good-will is the story left behind from this election, not like the nightmare from the corrupt and idiotic Cheney/Bush Administration.

    • Posted By: daffyhd @ 11/05/2008 3:56:04 PM

Well, it is a nice dream - but we do not know any of this to be a fact yet. Trust etc. comes with proof - so far, none has been shown. Hopefully, things will chaneg all aruond - choice of friends would be a good start for Obama.

Also, the world is overjoyed - why? Many think because they have no reason to fear reprisal nor respect the strength of this country. Of course, that is just some people's thoughts. Depends on the country, I am sure. Let's not throw open the doors to all - Cuba etc. We do have to have some integrity.

Hey KCLOUD; I am shocked that people who voted for George Bush were even allowed to participate in the voting process of 2008 especially after the blunder that you guys made 4 years ago. You guys are worst than any drug addict who votes. At least a drug addict has an excuse for their stupidity.

    • Posted By: beaper @ 11/05/2008 3:55:50 PM

to brooklyn gurl: Are you serious? A drug addict has an excuse for using drugs? Forgive my ignorance please, that one has never been explained to me. Care to do so? God bless President Bush and his family, an honorable man.

    • Posted By: kcloud @ 11/05/2008 3:26:51 PM

Never voted for Bush. A drug addict with one week of rehab, is obvisously voting because of the color of skin.

I agree with politicsgirl. I have met good Muslim people; in America, Afghanistan and Iraq. Though unfortunately, religious beliefs do affect people's actions. The radicals are the ones we need to be worried about.

Some people I talked to today said that Palin wanting to have the creationist theory taught in classrooms is scary. I accept that some people think that there is no God, and others think that there is a God or several Gods. But if you don't want to give equal study to Darwinism and Creationism, than you should change the dollar bill. It says "In God we trust"

    • Posted By: Yargo @ 11/05/2008 3:55:01 PM

You'll have to point out where she said she wanted creationist thought taught. As I recall, that was one more lie spread by the media which began as something written on someone's blog.

  • Posted By: Voices of a nation @ 11/05/2008 1:05:35 PM

As a McCain/Palin supporter I think that it is absolutley proposterous that they did not win. They should have. Sarah would have brough some fresh new ideas to the white house. She and McCain would have been perfect. And I'm not racist. I'm a republican. We are heading to the end days of the world and hes going to help make it alot worse.

    • Posted By: DWPitts @ 11/05/2008 3:54:38 PM

So, in other words, you believe the 7 Seals have been broken, and the apocolypse is at hand? Please, for my own edification, can you describe what each of the 7 were, and who, unsealed them? Obama has not been on the scene long enough to have done what you claimed. Who was?

Please tell me, in your view, what they were? You must know, as you speak with such certainty that Revelations is here.

    • Posted By: MoreChoices @ 11/05/2008 1:23:58 PM

You are a psychopath. You think the end of the world is coming because Obama is now the President. Where have you been for the past 8 years. What good has Bush or the republican party done for the country that now you are so scared. You are either clueless and ignorant or just crazy

    • Posted By: pb_dc @ 11/05/2008 1:20:09 PM

Please name as many "fresh new ideas" that Palin would have brought? Not trying to be sarcastic, serious question.

  • Posted By: politicsgirl @ 11/05/2008 3:54:31 PM

mmateo: there is a difference between radicals and non-radicals ! I agree that the radical muslims are doing terrible things ! It's obvious !

texnewmex, you did forget one. Obama had the formidable support of mainstream media, who controlled the news to his advantage. Negative news items regarding Obama were suppressed unless there were pressure from outside sources, usually the internet media; On the otherhand, negative news items on McCain and Palin were expanded beyond the pale and yellowed in an unjournalistic way. The media created the Obama image as the savior to a degree that many though obscene. On the otherhand, Palin was intentionally made to look foolish and was ambushed by the media to create their image of her; A backwoods hockey mom, which is not the case at all.

The worst act of collusion by the media was to hide the responsibility for the financial failure of Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, which lay squarely on the shoulders of the democratic party, according to the videos taken from C-Span tapes going back to 1998, 2002, 2004, and 2007. The media allowed the democratic party to accuse the Republican party for their sins without so much as an inquiry.

The media part in this election was so despicable and obvious that I am amazed that you would have the audacity to even ask the question "Why did McCain lose?" I will spend the next four years educating everyone I know just exactly what the American media is.

    • Posted By: byebyebushie @ 11/05/2008 3:54:24 PM

its ok though, when the media is on the side of the republican party, as was the case in 2000 and 2004. Did you forget about the 2004 fake swift boat group? As I recall I think that pretty much destroyed Kerrys chances. And how accurate was that info? Why dont you look into the "swift boat" controversy and see how accurate their information was? Yet the "Liberal Media" was all over that. Get a grip, and read up on some history please.

    • Posted By: gigglinggirl @ 11/05/2008 3:12:27 PM

Wake Up Don. We didn't vote for McCain because of what he said and did. He never answered questions, he just said "I'm a maverick". Then he picked a gal who thinks Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her "foreign policy experience". Look for blame everywhere you can, but ultimately, Big Mac needs to take the hit.

  • Posted By: FoxyDr @ 11/05/2008 2:49:04 PM

I am so glad that the majority of people voted for the person they believe can lead this country out of the areas of distruction we currently face. What amazes me is the fact that people would NOT vote for a candidate simply because of the color of his skin. Given those parimeters, blacks would have never voted for a presidential candidate. The truth of the matter is that blacks, whites, hispanics, bi-racial, and other ethnic and minority groups voted for who they believe can get the job done. I have not always been pleased with the choice for president; but, I always supported and respected the choice of the majority. The majority has spoken. Let's rally behind our new president as he attempts to bring America back to its prominent place in the world. Let really be the UNITED States of America.

    • Posted By: whiterock @ 11/05/2008 2:54:16 PM

I hate to disappoint you but it was not the majority that voted Obama in. He won the popular vote by ONLY 6%

      • Posted By: gigglinggirl @ 11/05/2008 3:53:41 PM

Hey whiterock. It's said that you give the rest of us whities a bad name. I'm also curious how you managed to graduate without ever learning math?! Over 100 million people voted in yesterday's election. If you take 100 million X 6%, that equals 6 million votes! That, "my friends" is a landslide! ha ha ha ha ha ha!

      • Posted By: PresidentObama411 @ 11/05/2008 3:02:02 PM

Yes it was the majority of electoral votes - check the msn's main page...

        • Posted By: Ikaika @ 11/05/2008 3:06:17 PM

Electoral votes are different from popular votes. Go learn about it before mouthing off about it!

    • Posted By: RXBERN @ 11/05/2008 3:00:44 PM

IF VOTING WASN'T RACIAL THEN HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE 96% OF BLACKS THAT VOTED FOR OBAMA. DO YOU REALLY THINK THEY DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN? IF A WHITE PERSON VOTES FOR MCCAIN HE IS A RACIST, BUT IF A BLACK PERSON VOTES FOR OBAMA, HE IS JUST EXERCISING HIS RIGHT TO VOTE.

    • Posted By: Brooklyn Gurl @ 11/05/2008 2:53:03 PM

To Foxy Doctor; Superbly put. Thank you for your comment.

  • Posted By: Sparky735 @ 11/05/2008 3:53:00 PM

After the conventions I was sure I would be voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. Then the more I learned about Palin, the more she scared me. She did not know the duties of the Vice-President, had too many ethical, and legal questions surrounding her. The more I learned about her, the more convinced I became that she was nothing than a female Tammany Hall politician. Too scary for me, that is why I voted for Obama.

  • Posted By: undecided voter @ 11/05/2008 1:26:01 PM

What went wrong? John McCain isn't an africian american.

    • Posted By: JOEJOECO @ 11/05/2008 3:51:22 PM

Wow! You must be ignorant to be thinking in that philosophy! I am not an african-american, but I voted for the smart guy who seems to have great judgements in leading this country. I am not affiliated to any party, but Sen. McCain made a poor judgement in choosing Sarah Palin. If he had chosen Romney or Huckabee, he could have my vote. Obama is a smart guy. Let's be real! We are all americans. OBAMA was a great choice for me.
