Worst Campaign Ever?

McCain lost because of Bush. Everyone liked Bush in the beginning. Now people dislike Bush. Why do people dislike Bush? What did he do so terrible? Nothing. However, he accepted credit for everthing positive about the country so now he gets blamed for everthing negative about the country. He gets blamed by the media and by people looking for an escapegoat.

Despite Bill Clinton's disgusting confession he stayed in office because of the economy and no war. Fast forward to a man that promoted faith based initiatives and no one, even people in his party, do not want to be associated with him because of the economy and war. No one bothers to look past the rhetoric and spin.

If we accept candidates that say what we want to hear and not what we need to hear, we will always get candidates that do and say whatever to get elected. However, we can decide if they get reelected. If the economy is good, Obama will be reelected. Because people will put their money before morality. If the economy is bad, he will not be reelected. The rhetoric and spin will turn against him as it did for Bush and McCain.

So if you are unhappy with the outcome, just hope for another bad economy and war in order to see a changing of the guard as we just did. FYI, you cannot spin a positive economy. You spin who gets credit for positive and who gets blamed for negative.

The media is a reflection of this country's morality or lack of. We do not reward honesty and integrity. We replaced fairness with selfishness. And since we do not stand for anything, we fall for everything.

I thought this is one nation under God. Is anyone reading God's word, the Bible and praying, instead of listening to what everybody says about an issue.

What did Bush do so wrong? Not enough space here-- try breaking the law (wiretaps), lying to the public in an inaugural speeach (yellow cake from Africa), arresting, jailing, torturing people without trial (guantanmo), invading a country without understanding the consequences (he did not know the difference between Shiite and Sunni), and his policy of helping big business (tax breaks for oil companies).....that is enough for now. Try and understand why Bush will be regarded as the worst president ever-- just below Buchanan.

For "The Rayman" The term "Mulatto is a Spanish-Latin derived word meaning half pure bred "horse" half mule of which President Elect Obama is neither, nor is Tiger Woods for that matter. To attempt to disparage this momentous occasion with ignorant slander is not only a testament to your obvious lack of proper and full education, but it is also a testimony for your character, lack of to say the least. Keep your offensive posting where it is most desired; to your self.

The economy, 9-11 & Obama campaigning heavily in metropolitan areas led to the GOP loosing the election.
The democratic Congress and Senate led to our bad economy. The war, & 9-11 assisted. . Bush nor Sarah Palin were responsible for the Gop defete. Sarah Palin was an excellent VP pick.

The fact that you think Palin was an "excellent VP pick" (a woman who doesn't read ANY news publications on a regular basis) is very scary.

It wasn't the economy, the wars or Palin that lost it for Lost John. Having no policies and running an attack campaign when we need healing was what lost it for him.

I would like to say the Newsweek has the most unethical and biased Journalism in the United States just behind the New York Times. This is a tasteless article that criticizes the hard work that BOTH sides did to try an elect their candidate. They both made mistakes even though one came out victorious, and I will NEVER read Newsweek again. The ridicule the other half of Americans that voted against Barack Obama and they are degrading to all of the people who are not democrat.

I agree with the assements made about John McCain being to inconsistent and making a poor choice in selecting Sarah Palin as VP. Critics of Obama cite his inexeperience as a factor of why they didnt want to vote for him, but we all can honestly say the prospects of a "super novice" sarah palin as the VP is much worse. With McCain being already 72 , she was 1 step from becoming the acting president which turned off even the die hard Republicans. With the state of peril the USA is in economically, and even with their declining status as a world leader the right choice for this 44th president was made in Obama. He is dynamic, his outstanding campaign and strategy for getting elected can't be questioned as genius. America will regain its foothold on the world and truly live up the name of the "Land of Opportunity".

I have to agree. I voted for McCain because I truly liked him and what he stood for and I felt that Obama was just too inexperienced BUT, in the back of my mind, the thought of Sarah Palin possibly becoming the president, should anything happen to McCain, made me extremely nervous. She needs to spend more time with her family and taking care of her baby and the state of Alaska..

John McCain and the Republican party have refused to acknowledge the diversity of our nation, and now they are paying for it. If they would have made ANY attempt to invite minorities to their party, maybe they could have won this thing (if you can ignore all the other grievous mistakes of this campaign). Do they really think this is still the 1950's? They sure act like it.

Oh yeah...we're going to get change all right....and only the liberals will like it.

Barak Huessein Obama is a mulatto.Tiger Woods is a mulatto(we love Tiger). Its in the dictionary and is not an insult. Why start out Obamas campaign with a lie?He is not the first negro Pres.He is the first mulatto Pres.

    • Posted By: crunch05 @ 11/05/2008 1:56:04 PM

Most people know he is mulatto but, America is the one who puts labels on people. If you didn???t know he was from a bi-racial back ground and you saw him walking down the street. You would probably think he was just another black man. This is how America see???s him as a black man. What should be more important is that America has chosen a man who they feel is qualified to run this country. He was chosen by the content of his character not the color of his skin.

I personally believe McCain's choice of a VP along with his flip flopping on the issues both got him the nomination and lost the election. Let's face it; McCain was the right man in the wrong race. Heshould have been the pick in 2000. What aa different world we would have had. At any rate, I think the media did a good job because ultimatley people voted against the platform; not the man.

With Collin Powell in the picture there is at least a chance for the US military. With Collin Powell being ex-military, he understands the importance of maintaining a trained, equipped force large enough to actually defend the nation and still take care of business across the globe. Certainly with him, we're screwed.

With all the problems in the middle east, I hope he has what it takes to deal with them (terriorist). That through this whole campaigne has been my biggest fear. Sometimes opening dialogue is not the answer.
Because of religious fanatics and their ideals this tactic won't work. That is also why democracy will not work
in the middle east and I can't believe we don't understand this. They have no value for humanity. They only understand death and destruction. Stearn force be it sanctions to begin with is the way to deal with it. The UN
has to grow a pair and get tough. We have no right to tell them how to live, but every right to demand everyone
else is afforded the same. The American people as a whole have seemed to loose sight of the principles this country was founded on and need to get back to basics.

    • Posted By: Brooklyn Gurl @ 11/05/2008 1:49:24 PM

To bluejeansman: I can't think of a better way to get back to the basics other than having Obama in the whitehouse. You guys have had a good run now move over and get ready for change.

I personally dont think it mattered what kind of race McCain ran, the national media by and large acted as though they were the Chinese national press at the Olympics. I think they have done the same on their war coverage as well. They lack objectivity, they have an agenda and they saturate the airways with it.
Wow bombings are down in Iraq so lets ignore all the positve accomplishments being achieved there and move onto Afghanistan. God forbid the news broadcast the great work being done by the troops..lets keep it negative, blast Bush and McCain and all Republicans. why cover the whole truth when we can use the half truth that supports our claim. I think the national media ran for President and OBama who has basically zero qualifications just happened to be along for the ride.

  • Posted By: ad_p @ 11/05/2008 1:48:02 PM

Barney Frank, and the democrat controlled congress cause this housing and economic down turn. Not republican and certainly not McCain. Passing laws and forcing lending institution to overlook traditional lending criteria that led to countless unqualified individuals owning homes that they couldn't afford and subsequently defaulted on their loans. That in turn cause various banks to fail major sell out in the stock market. McCain ran his campaign with integrity. He intention was not to smear Obama, but to warn the American people, what type of person he is. Questionable association, poor judgement, lack of commitment, unpatriotic, and lack of experience. Spending time abroad in Pakistan does not give him the necessary foreign policy know how or knowledge. To use that as proof of his qualification on the subject is ludicrous. He refuse to wear American Flag pin and refuse to put his hand over his heart duing National Anthem. That's wrong. Michelle Obama even go as far as saying that she's never proud of being an American. Is this really something you want to hear coming out of your first lady's mouth? She looks rediculous dancing on Ellen Degenerous's show. What happen to the elegance and poise we so expected from our first lady, like Jackie Kennedy? There's simply no comparison there and to do so by the media is degrading and insulting. Far left media hide the truth, refuse to report Obama as he is, obscure the truth about Obama's campaign and his far left economic and social policy. They've became part of the political machine to influence and steer our opinion about Obama and he is elected as a result. Be careful what you ask for. Next 4 to 8 years be ready for higher fuel prices, higher taxes, higher food cost, attacks on all Americans here and abroad, failure in Iraq and Afghanistan, changing economic dynamics from capitalism to socialism, no accountability and bigger government. Tax cuts that were promised to the American middle class is not even enough to offset the higher cost of livig under Obama economic policy. No one wants to take the risks to put up capitals to build a factory, or open a business. Our government will take away a big chunk of it so that they could spread it around. No capitalism, no growth, no prosperity. The American people will finally realized, Obama is a talker, not a doer. Under him, America will deteriorate as we head towards more socialism and less capitalism. We will end up like Europe.

George Bush , Mr Jesus himself , giftwrapped this one for the Democrates . The far right wing of the Republican Party cant carry an election any longer . If Obama does a good job and I hope he does the Rebublicans are done . i voted for Bush twice and he has been a huge dissappointment to me . His head in the sand management style ruined America. We should banish the idiot to Crawford and not let him leave the property .

Hope you are glad you are not in any if those uncivilized country and killing is rampant for disagreeing whom to elect.
