I hear so much talk about Obama not having any experience, but realistically, what experience does McCain have? Being a prisoner of war or even serving in a war time only makes him "trigger happy" not experienced or anything else, and as for Sarah Palin, she is a joke. She didn't even know what Roe v. Wade was, let alone be second in command of the entire country. Either you people from the "red states" are igonorant or just as stupid as McCain and Srah Palin. The country i will be better off without the two of them , at least for the next four years.

As Obama/Biden supporters, my wife and I, nonetheless, respect Senator McCain as a great American who has served his country far beyond the capacity that most of us could ever aspire to. The same is not true for Sarah Palin. With such a mediocre intellect, limited education and experience, and a philosophical position so distinctly outside the mainstream of historical Christian theology, she was the worst imaginable choice for a running mate. For this disastrous choice, and for a consistently negative campaign that was too late in its attempt to define and differentiate itself on the issues, I blame Steve Schmidt, McCain's senior advisor. I hope that Mr. Schmidt is never again involved in any future campaign for any political party. His involvement has truly cheapened our political process.

I personally did not vote for Obama because he was black. Lets get that straigh from the get go. I put GOD first and that is what I question? Is money more important then GOD? Obama has signed 4 times to take 7 months old babies tear them to shreds and discard of them. Now this is disturbing. When will America quit making excuses and why this is convenient for me to have an abortion ? We shall see i his convictions speak loudly to the American people. I don't have i'am holyier than though attitude and I'am very sorry that again individuals believe that christ is a hollyier than though attitude. I have made my sins and professed them to GOD. I will pray for Obama even if he does not do what is the will of GOD. The time is coming when we all must make the decision of who we are with GOD or nothingness. Also, He will be making a very big pay check approx 2000,000.00 ayear for his life until age 80. So he has alot riding on winning this election. I will pray that Obama does not tear this country apart but, brings everyone together and life is precious.

This is a good example of where people went to factcheck sites to discover if this abortion claim was true. Of course it isn`t. This is why negative, taken-out-of-context claims will not win elections any more. The People want to find out the truth for themselves instead of listening to highly edited untruths and twisted truths.

trent208, I respect a person who is man (or woman) enough to be honest and say that they did not vote for Obama. Obama himself has said that he understands that he did not get your vote but he represents you as well. Hopefully he does right by you, even though he won't get 100% of your approval.

McCain's concession speech was truly gracious. In that way, he reminded me of Bush: gracious in defeat, a beligerent, small minded, overbearing bully in victory. Using Palin as an attack dog was a stick in the eye to moderate Americans. So Bush-like. McCain would have governed like Bush, which is why I didn't vote for him.

  • Posted By: wyris @ 11/05/2008 12:53:23 PM

He's charismatic and i don't think he can't deliver the changes he promised during the campaign, he'll have plenty of "blame Bush" excuses since he's part of the problem anyway

For many young Obama voters, they are simply too young to remember the world before the fall of the Berlin Wall and communism. The scariest part of that is not that we are in any danger of immediately becoming a communist or socialist state. It is that the path to a totalitarian state begins like this - with a media biased to a level not seen since the days of Pravda and Soviet TV. Media that will ignore relevant stories that might hurt their candidate, and that will put on the front page of newspapers - stories such as a middle class Governor, who campaigned in her home state in hunting flannels, getting a ???stage" wardrobe for her and her family to use while campaigning virtually non-stop for weeks.

Politics is like football. You have to play offense some times, and sometimes you have to play defense. The Democrats will be taking the ball and going on offense - and trotting onto the field are the leaders - Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama. (LOL!!!) All of these are so tied to their leftist agenda's and base that they cannot possibly choose to govern from the middle - without that same base turning against them. Bill Clinton was a successful President because he was adept at "triangulating" - moving to adopt key Republican ideas such as Welfare Reform and balanced budgets. Obama does not have that luxury - and he is certainly far to the left from an ideological perspective as compared to Bill Clinton.

Obama may be far more like Jimmy Carter. He is already perceived as "weak" on foreign policy by our enemies - let alone his own running mate. (Anybody up for another Iranian Hostage Crisis?) He inherits a financial crisis born from Democratic policies to move Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into subprime loans beginning in the 1990's

If you folks would accept sex is natural and get on board with birth control maybe unwanted pregnancy can be avoided.

Do you all remember the basketball shoes with air pumps? How about Furby's? The Macarena? All very exciting, new and wildly popular ideas that were in fact fads that faded very quickly. This Obama thing will be no different. All talk, show and ideas with no substance behind it. Very easy to get excited about new ideas in rough times, but it won't take long to see that Obama will be nothing more than a fad when he can't deliver on all his promises. We will have a republican president elected in 2012, I just hope we can survive the next 4 years.

I wonder if all you naysayers of Obama are households that make over 250,000 a year because then I can see why you would make the comments that you made. But, if you a regular working family that doesn;t have health insurance, or a college fund for your children, or don't owe a mortage on your home then I would say that lucky for you that Obama won and don't forget to thank me and the others when you benefit from the programs that were designed to help you. Or maybe you don't want your kids to go to college? Read a paper, listen to all the facts, and realize that the rest of the nation just saved your behinds!!!!

It didn't come down to people who didn't know anything about the economy or blacks voting for the first time, it came down to the American people making the RIGHT CHOICE! That included white, black, spanish, etc.....
Maybe you should do the right thing and look at the full picture not just the white/black picture......................Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover!!!

Oh please the nightmare started 28 years ago when to money grubbing Republicans decided to sell out our country to corporations while selling their naive conservative followers they cared about your ideals.

  • Posted By: An american nightmare = Obama @ 11/05/2008 12:13:24 PM

Comment: Nothing went wrong with McCain, if Obomb was Republican, and McCain was Democratic. Obomb still would have won the election. So many stupid ingorant black people that have NEVER voted and know NOTHING about politics voted just BECAUSE he was black. End of Story..

I found a great deal to agree with in Mr. Zelizer's analysis. And then, he posited the most inane belief extant when he said that, and I quote, "...the conservative era has come to an end". Nothing could be further from the truth, and I would question the learning taking place in Mr. Zelizer's classroom, what with statements like this coming from his learned mind.

The fact is Mr. Zelizer, conservatism works everytime its tried, and has led to the unprecedented prosperity that this country has enjoyed for the past 25+ years. This statement sound more like wishful thinking on your part as opposed to cogent and insightful analysis.

NOW can we all "just get along?" And can we ALL pray for our new president and our nation? (p.s. For once, I was undecided until the Palin nomination... that sent me scurrying back to my Democrats. She's been great for SNL and Tina Fey; but I didn't want her a heartbeat away from the presidency.) I think we have made the right choice for America at this time. And MLK was right. It is about the "content of a man's character." I hope "Black America" sees that America HAS changed. There is hope for ALL Americans in this wonderful country.

It was not just young people it was thoughtful people who voted Obama. We realize it's a new century and with globalization well on it's way, a new world. We can't selfishly vote for blind patriotism and old fashioned concepts of country anymore. Believe it or not it was the last 28 years of Rebulican policy and conservative values that brought us the global economy and therefore global inter-dependence. I'm patriotic, I love my country, my flag and our democracy but I recognize our power doesn't give us the right to bully everyone else.

  • Posted By: gracious @ 11/05/2008 12:29:19 PM

Why people for all the negative comments about Obama? Like it or not, he is now our president elect and will be our president on January 20, 2009. To the McCain supporters, please put your opinions aside and be more like McCain himself; who had urged you to support Obama. Show your love for this country by not tearing it apart because your candidate did not win. In the mean time, hope for your next candidate to win in the next election

    • Posted By: globalqueen1 @ 11/05/2008 12:37:08 PM

It is still a free country (at least now). We do not have to like Obama nor do we have to bury our heads in the sand and accept him. I personally will watch every move he makes during his time in office and whenever he makes a bad one, I will do exactly as the Dems do: YELL LOUD AND CLEAR! If you think it has been bad for the past two years, watch the next 4. Dems had control of the Senate and House but not the Presidential office. They made tons of mistakes and blamed Bush. Well now, they have the Presidential office also. Who will be to blame for the tons of mistakes that are about to happen? With total Democratic rule, we all had best keep our ears and eyes open to "CHANGE" as it may not be what we hope for. But then, I can say "I didn't vote for the dummy! Can you?"

Excellent, HoosierDrummer: "Let's figure out how to work with this administration." If my guy had lost, that's what I'd want to do... not that I'd be a happy camper today, but... Life goes on, America. We will prevail. Ultimately, it's up to "We the People!"

  • Posted By: Boogaloo @ 11/05/2008 12:46:18 PM

The media only supported Obama and only reported posivtive information on him. McCain on the other hand, the media tore him up. The media in the US is one-sided and worthless. Our entire country is becoming worthless.

  • Posted By: independentlease @ 11/05/2008 12:23:05 PM

He will never be my President. I have turned the 3 flags outside my house upside down today. Obama is an illegal alien and this will come out before he moves into the Whitehouse. He is already in contempt of court for violation of the Judge's order to produce the birth certificate. The Judge is going after him and so are 5 other states. He can't be hired by the FBI or even the CIA because he can't pass security clearance. So the stupid people of America elected a President who has access to our intelligence and our nukes, but can't pass the FBI test.. Dummies. History will prove he was a "plant" by our foreign enemies.
    R.. Wilson

    • Posted By: summer1216 @ 11/05/2008 12:46:02 PM

How could he possibly be an illegal alien??? Are you kidding? He could be born on the moon, and if his mother is a citizen, he is a citizen.

    • Posted By: branwenofeire @ 11/05/2008 12:30:37 PM

He is NOT an illegal alien, you twit. He was born the same place I was: Hawaii. SEVERAL years after statehood was ratified. His mother was an American citizen from Kansas. Get your facts straight.

      • Posted By: SavethisCountry @ 11/05/2008 12:42:16 PM

Don't be too offended. This is the same type of person who would ask what type of postage stamp to use while visiting Hawaii, or if they use dollars. A shame really.

you are just too stupid to be believed. the president of the united states must be a native born. why are you still pushing this stupidity? go read some history books, civics, books, some books. educate yourself before you let anything else out of that stupid yap of yours.

      • Posted By: SavethisCountry @ 11/05/2008 12:33:43 PM

Your an idiot you should stop saying things that you have no clue what you are talking about, don't you think if he was not a American born citizen that he would be able to run for president and besides he has a mom that was from Kansas and you should be carefull of who you can dumb until you look in the mirror.
