I agree with the comment that the media loved Obama and never had anything bad to say about him or his campaign. I hope we do not regret electing this man. His ideas and those of his wife scare the .....devil..... out of me. Hopefully the House and Senate will work together to prevent anything drastic. I am preparing to retire in January and certainly hope he will leave our taxes alone so I don't have to go back to work to support all of his "Change".

The Congress is led by Pelosi and Reid - they will propose the crazy stuff and Obama will just rubber stamp it. People complained that McCain voted with Bush/republicans over 90% of the time - Obama voted with Reid/Pelosi over 98% of the time.

The only way you should have to "go back to work to support his 'change'" is if you've got a very healthy income, take advantage of any kind of business financial loopholes, or you have some kind of large, long-term capital gain. Otherwise, if you've got something you've worked for and come by honestly, without taking any kind of government handouts, you should be in good shape.

If McCain would have had the same attitude during his campaign as he did in his concession speech, he could have won. I am a Christian, I am pro-life, but I also have a very large problem with people claiming to be Christians but don't act like it. The mud slinging, the un-Christian like ethics used in the campaign by the Republicans. The way the campaign was run is not my idea of being a true Christian at heart and living the life of Christ. Too many times the pro-life stance is used to bring Christians to vote republican. How about not worrying about the law and work on the morals and ethics of each individual in our country . Legal or not, abortion will still happen; we the people, each individual must have the respect for life and only in that way will abortion stop.

ok, i'm not gone yet. it appears i have an unhealthy obsession with this election. but i had to comment on the senate race in minnesota. al franken. are you kidding me? al f-ing ranken? first jessie the body ventura for gov and now a foul-mouthed comedian (not that i'm against foul-mouthed comedians - but in the senate chambers?) . glad to see we're all taking our futures so seriously.

Ropaul you are an idiot,, because my father is a Christian does not make me one, because Obama's father is a Muslim does not mean that he is...and who cares anyway? I'm an atheist and I see no difference between Christianity or Islam?

That's the only time an old man can get the hell beat out of him with no consequences!! gone Obama you are a Phenomenal man and nothing anyone says can take that from you. LOL. YOU are the funny one! Yeah...McCain lost! Obama won! But the proof is still in the pudding. How will you feel about the "messiah" four years from now??? Maybe...just maybe...he will be an excellent president. I surely hope so. But I listened to the man's words. He sounds like another Jimmy Carter to me.

I agree with you, I hope Obama does do a great job, but I am skeptical. Heavensent4 says nothing about his political views, this is why you vote for someone. There are many phenomenal and charismatic men who are not qualified to run a country. However, could Obama have endured what McCain did and come back to his country with the pride and determination that McCain has shown? McCain is a GREAT American and no one running in this campaign deserved the win more than he did. I did not vote for McCain based on his skin color and I didn't not vote for Obama based on his skin color, I did my research on their political views and platforms and records. I am a hard working woman, who raised three children as a single mother with no help, while working full time and going to school full time. It was difficult but I did it and recieved my MBA. Why is anyone else better than I am that they do not have to work but will get "paid" by me after I lived in poverty for years while working HARD to pull myself out and give my children a better life. I will now be penalized because I became successful and not by taking hand outs but by working and paying for my education through student loans that I am now repaying. I don't hate Obama, I just don't agree with a lot of his ideas and I hope that he doesn't keep all of his promises, some of them are unfair to me and many more like me.

Shouldn't Obama's last name be "Carpathia" instead? (The Left Behind Movies)

    • Posted By: notjustamom @ 11/05/2008 11:37:08 AM

for heavens sake, heavensent4, this was not a football game, it was an election. you are the one who needs to get over it. go take your winning ticket to the window, collect your money, and move on.

    • Posted By: Transcending @ 11/05/2008 11:36:27 AM

I hope Obama's performance can be at least half as much as your hype. We will all wait and see if he is the miracle worker you expect out of him.
Bob the builder can we fix it , Bob the builder yes we can!!!
Had to add some humor, this is such a hate blog from both sides.

I always wondered how a mob of people could stone and express such hatred toward Jesus when he was on earth. Not at all comparing Obama to Jesus, but definitely comparing the mob of racist comments on this site to that group of insane people. Are you seriously dumb enough to think this country could survive with 4 more years of the republican policies? Were you not at all concerned with the way McCain ran his campaign? Did you seriously think Palin was a good choice for VP? I never once heard McCain or Palin say one thing they would do differently if elected. I'm just suppose to believe him when he says "I know how to do it?" Sure there are people who voted for Obama simply because he is black. There are also many people who voted for hm because we believe in his ability to create a different environment for ALL Americans, to unite and not divide, to encourage and not spread fear, and to lead and not blindly follow. I know today is hard for those die hard McCain/Republican fans, but the only way this country is going to move forward is if we all work together. Unfortunately there will always be racism until we stop spreading the lies and hatred to generations and generations.

  • Posted By: CK30 @ 11/05/2008 12:26:32 PM

I wholeheartedly agree with you KJ06. He won the vote. And if you were in Grant Park last night, as I was, you would have seen that the sea of people were made up of asian, latino, black and mostly white Americans. It's truly sour grapes for the Republicans, but he is their next President too. Let's bring him in and see what he can do.

    • Posted By: SavethisCountry @ 11/05/2008 12:31:23 PM

Goes to show, finally after 200 years the country is forming into the one the founders had hoped. All races, and people coming together no matter their background for the better good of the USA. Now that's patriotism. Republican Christrian right, your days and era are over for good.

  • Posted By: wojoman @ 11/05/2008 12:09:17 PM

Yes, enough BS. MCCain lost because (1) he didn't have the money Obama raised (where did he get it all anyway?). and (2) the liberal media put Obama in, just as they put most of the past democratic candidates
    (3) the have-nots bought the bait-and switch - and they will pay dearly for their mistake in the years to come....the pendulum is merely swinging to the opposite end....John MCain would have had it in the center - where it should be...

    • Posted By: kshortSD @ 11/05/2008 12:30:12 PM

Obama had more money because he had more supporters who were passionate and wanted to donate. Duh.

  • Posted By: jasonmartin @ 11/05/2008 12:29:55 PM

McCains campaign was run so badly that even Joe the plumber didnt vote for him. When you hang with deadbeats thats to be expected.

  • Posted By: plisiak @ 11/05/2008 12:28:47 PM

That's fine we need change....can an Obama supported actually tell me how it is going to happen? Pulling out of a war is "what" he wants to do, but as anyone who is responsible for managing teams or companies will tell you, it is more important to know *how* ideas will be executed than simply the ideas themselves. Obama has the best of both worlds...sell hope and then blame it on the last guy when he demonstrates his lack of experience.

  • Posted By: archmsu @ 11/05/2008 10:50:26 AM

Socialism is on the rise. I love it! Whats yours and is now mine! I love how Obama draws all the rejects of society, i guess they want their hand-outs, aka government cheese. But hey, not everybody can be white-collar because the world needs ditch diggers too.

    • Posted By: tjohn017 @ 11/05/2008 12:28:45 PM

Fear Monger, where did you learn that? Oh yeah, we just had 8 years of it and a campaign based on it.

    • Posted By: lacey123 @ 11/05/2008 11:29:46 AM

Did you just crawl out from one of the ditches? I voted for PRESIDENT Obama, and I object to your name calling, i.e. "rejects of society". But that's all McCain/Palin did in their campaign...resorted to name calling, spreading lies and injecting fear. Whether you want to believe it or not, 63 million people voted for Obama because they are tired of all that. What don't you get about that? 61% of white voters supported Obama, so don't try to make it a race issue or a too young to know better issue, or however you choose to explain away McCain/Palin's poor showing. McCain needs to take responsibility for his actions, and choosing Palin was the worst, by far. It IS a new day....accept it, and maybe even embrace it.

Obama is a Kenyan born illegal alien who was registered in Hawaii not born there when the truth comes out so will end his run in office.

Why did he seal his medical records?
Why did he seal his college records?
Why did he post a FAKE birth certificate?
McCain showed his WHY CANT OBAMA!!!
Why did his grandma half brother half sister go on tape saying they witnessed his birth in Kenya?

Natual born citizen is a requirement for office of the president. Obamas days are limited.

John McCain, who ran for the Republican party nomination in 2000 and is the Republican nominee in 2008, was born at the Coco Solo U.S. military base in the Panama Canal Zone to U.S. parents. Although the Panama Canal Zone was not considered to be part of the United States,[7] federal law states: "Any person born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States, is declared to be a citizen of the United States."[8] The law that conferred this status took effect on August 4, 1937, one year after John McCain was born ??? albeit with retroactive effect, resulting in McCain being declared a U.S. citizen.[9]

Being born on a US military base, IS the same as being born in the mainland US.

The 1790 Congress, many of whose members had been members of the Constitutional Convention, provided in the Naturalization Act of 1790 that "And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens." In addition George Washington was president of the Constitutional Convention and President of the United States when this bill became law. If Washington disagreed with this definition, he could have vetoed this bill.

To: An american nightmare. How dare you call all 'Blacks" who voted for Obama 'stupid'. Actually .. they were stupid for not voting in years prior to now. This year minorities and whites voted for Obama because they wanted to be heard, and they ALL believe that Obama will listen and act. I can clearly see that you are the one who is clearly uneducated... bet you lost your job to a black guy who was far more intelligent and more qualified than you. You should swallow your hate and learn something ... you'll have a much better life.

I laugh at those saying how this election proves the country is moving past racism and discrimination. Yet over 95% of African Americans voted for Obama because he is black. I was watching ABC interview gradeschool children this morning and a young African American girl stated "my mom and dad made a good decision voting for Barack Obama because he is black". What if a litle white girl had stated the exact same comment about McCain?? There would be riots. Racism is alive and well, only its been reversed and that seems to be ok with people.

    • Posted By: trent208 @ 11/05/2008 12:25:45 PM

I agree their is cross discrimination in this world. When blacks state i wasn't picked for the job because of my skin but, a white man is denied the job because he is white and their is cultural diversity issues at the work place and a woman or black numbers at the company are not high enough than this is cross race discrimmination. THI IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME. So please do not tell our chldren that he is black and that is the most important thing but, we looked at the character of the individual. WOW what a shocking comment. I told my son last night that i would love a black president but, that is not why I did not vote for him. I also was quite disturbed when I heard a black man comment that Martin Luther King would be so happy with Obamas winning. Now how do you know how Martin Luther would feel? What people don't seem to remember is that Martin Luther King was very, very RELIGIOUS AND BELIEVED IN GOD.

The spin is in. Democrats say they won because of taking republican votes in republican areas. Analysts have already determined that the Most conservative republicans in republican dominated areas (Franklin county Ohio, and the Florida panhandle as well as in other red states) did not turn out in force. Palin had little effect on the general scheme of things except she caused an increase of 4% of the conservative republicans to vote for McCain. Note: mainly the undependable moderate republicans lost. Democrats enjoy your 2 - 4 years.

  • Posted By: nomo-redstateblues @ 11/05/2008 12:23:49 PM

NOW can we all "just get along?" And can we ALL pray for our new president and our nation? (p.s. For once, I was undecided until the Palin nomination... that sent me scurrying back to my Democrats. She's been great for SNL and Tina Fey; but I didn't want her a heartbeat away from the presidency.) I think we have made the right choice for America at this time. And MLK was right. It is about the "content of a man's character." I hope "Black America" sees that America HAS changed. There is hope for ALL Americans in this wonderful country.

ok, my last post. then i really must get to some real work. oh, who am i kidding. i make too much money to be considered the "working people" by the new administration's standards. maybe i'll just nap till it's time to get the checkbook out. let's all just get along - - - and nap, and get our checkbooks out. oh, and stay out of airports and train stations, and tall buildings. they're cooommmminnng. must get coffee. peace out.
