What a great country, welcome back United States of America, this truly is the land of possibilities it just shows that United States of America has grown-up. The rest of the world will respect us.

Repulbicans what is wrong with you? When did you become the party of chaos, insanity, ignorance, lack of education, dangerous fundamentalism, divisiveness, hate and destruction?
OBVIOUSLY Obama is a US citizen how can you even question that at this point with a straight face? What is wrong with you all? I ask sincerely. Do you not think this has been vetted? Just b.c Chaos McCain did not vet that nightmare Palin before selecting her do you not think that in order to be a US Senator Obama was vetted?
Grow up
and BTW get the fundamentalists out of your candidacy pool -- they are atnbi-American and subversive, dangerous and evil. NO MORE FUNDAMENTALISTS!!!
thankfully DECENCY and GOD prevailed this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only divisive, evil, hateful person I see is YOU! Wow, what happened toyou to turn your heart so black and your soul so hateful? I don't know if you were abused, your husband cheated on you, or what other horrific thing happened in your life to make you so angry, but you need to seek help from a competent therapist before your head explodes.
nobody in obamas family except his wife and kids supported him, where were they at the rallys? where were they to support him? nowhere, because they know the truth about the man
Are you for real???? Or were you just watching too many McCain rally's? It's evident you didn't watch any of Obama's rally's or you would know that his wife has always been by his side, or either campaigning for him on her own. The TRUTH is he has 63,023,132 supporters. Look at the Election results. Wake up Independent thinker, or so you say. I am so tired of people who behave and think the way you do. Like Benwackin said, "Live with it". For all of you who have a problem with Obama, you need to to be honest with yourselves. You come up with excuses, why you don't like him, when I and many others can think of a whole truck load of reasons why McCain should have not be President, and thank God he wasn't chosen. McCain wasn't chosen by many different nationalities, not just African Americans.. So, again, I would rather you just be honest and say the problem you all have is the color of his skin,. Now, that's the TRUTH!!!
Hey Independent Thinkers54 at least Michelle Obama shook hands with the people,
Cindy McCain kept her hands behind her back at the debates which showed disrespect to the people whose vote that they were looking to attract.
The wives aren't running for office here!
Nothing went wrong with McCain, if Obomb was Republican, and McCani was Democratic. Obomb still would have won the election. So many stupid ingorant black people that have NEVER voted and know NOTHING about politics voted just BECAUSE he was black. End of Story
Black People tend to vote democrat regardless of what color that person is. And, yes this is a very historic event for black people because many have died for us to get to this point. We are neither stupid nor ignorant. We have bachelor, masters, and doctorate degrees. And, from your spelling in this post- I can make the assumption that you only have a seventh grade education. Other words don't make assumptions about why people vote.
The McCain/Palin campaign did not run on hope and compassion, as has been stated. The relentless attacks are evidence of this. McCain beats on Obama's lack of experience, then picks a running mate who has even less. Republican donor money was used to buy a very expensive wardrobe for her and some things for the family. If she had been elected to office, the entire country would be picking up the tab for her, the current family, and any more that are added later. McCain was very out of touch, financially - an extremely wealthy wife, himself who has always had healthcare (from one source or another), and a man who voted, by his own words, with the President over 90% of the time.
This is not Robin Hood, TDogg - "rob the rich and give to the poor." If you quit your job to sit on your butt and collect money, you fit into too many stereotypes to name. The U.S. government suffers from the same as many of its citizens - spends money it doesn't have, refuses to talk to other countries (a gun works better), and puts forth a picture of gross opulence while a lot of its citizens, as well as worldwide, go hungry & homeless. Does any U.S. citizen truly wonder why we're hated on the worldwide front?
Obama's in; that's a given, and it's done. Gut up, stop the name-calling and schoolyard bully routines, and let's get on with it. A lot of things need to be fixed, and this is the time and opportunity.

Kind of like everyone voting for 'white' 'woman' 'good ole boy' and 'ultra conservative gun toten Christian'. These reasons seem much worse.
OK Enough BS. The John McCain I voted for was the one that gave the gracious concession speach. The shame is that is not the one we saw on the campain trail. We need to support the president elect, all of us, just as Senitor McCain called for. The generation that voted him into office sees the Viet Nam war as ancient history. A generation that is not known for its public service but I hope Obama can call them to service to get this country out of the mess we have made of it. We are all in part guilty for living outside our means taking out mortgages that we can't pay, buying wants on credit cards having cell phone bills that run into the $$$$. I wish the president elect success. I do not share his vision but I share his passion for this country. Don Hague US Navy retired
Testboy,
You hit the nail on the coffin with your comment. I support Obama and I'm very proud of his win. In response to the economy, you are absolutely right! It is going to be an uphill battle for our President to be but I have faith in him that he will make sure to put the needs of our country first and try to right as many wrongs as he can but he can not do it alone. McCain's concession speech was touching and appeared genuine but it was one that we all needed to hear despite all of the negativity from each party during the campaign. He was defeated but still managed to humble himself and praise Obama on a historical victory!
Navy Vet
very much agreed. i voted for obama but sent an email to the McCain campaign commending him on his service to our country, both in vietnam and after, and his memorable concession speech. The election is over; it's time to move on. i opposed most of mccain's policies but i dont think anyone can cast doubt on his love of country.
I'll agree that the VP choice was the beginning of the end.
That and McCain's once lauded Campaign Finance Reform "chickens came home to roost" (pun intended). Mac rightly had to live by his own rules; his opponent reneged on his word to do likewise but was (naturally) granted a pass. Watchdogs? If Mac spent as much $$$ as Obama, Newsweek and everyone else would be screaming headlines about the "Buying of an election" and ???Presidency to the highest bidder.??? Today, pundits marvel on how effective and thorough O???s campaign was.
Finally, they definitely didn't do as well as Obama was counter false reports quickly enough in this instantaneous news cycle. For example, this author's erroneous statement AS FACT that a Scranton rally attendee shouted "kill him" when till this day only the newspaper reporter seemed to have heard the alleged comment. This is how rumors are perpetuated and become entrenched in popular culture, very often at the expense of Republicans.
"The U.S. Secret Service said Wednesday it could not corroborate a Times-Tribune report that someone shouted a threat directed at Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama at a political rally a day earlier at Riverfront Sports complex." The Scranton TImes-Tribune, Oct. 16, 2008.
I am sorry to ruin your post-election high with a few facts, but according to the exit polls Gov. Palin provided a net gain of 4% to McCain in the final vote tally, 3% higher than any other past VP pick. Sorry, but Gov. Palin is here to stay and is the only good thing McCain did. The election now over, McCain can go back to being the true Democrat Senator from Arizona that he has always been. It should have been Romney/Palin!
If you can't see that this is a great moment in American History, then I question your true patriotism! A theoretically inclusive society must at some point move past theory and enter the actual. We can now finally say and show that we actually believe "...one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!"
Bunny- you are the fool if you do not think Obmama recieved Millions of votes just because he was black. Please tell me you know that- PLEASE -
Just like Palin got votes because she is conservative right and a woman.
The Rooster came home to roost. It's the Republican's own fought that the Dems won the 2008 Pres Election. You guys bitterly and viciously fought Bill Clinton during his time, even tried to the impeach the man for doing the same thing you ole horn dogs were doing too (e.g. Newt Gringch was having an affair at the same time, come to find out). You had control of the media, especially Fox News w/Bill O'Reilly, who got caught up in his own sex scandal while he tried to be 'fair and balance". So then you guys got your boy in, GWB...look what mess he made. It goes to show, what comes around goes around. Now the pendulum has fallin' back into the Dems hands w/none other than a African-American, who would have thunk it! Look to all the junk y'all put out and you'll see why poor McCain lost. Becuause all of your evil attacks and hostility from the past, you have brought this moment into being. I'm not even a big Obama supporter, but after what you guys have done to America...Thank God! Now let's get down to brass tacks and get this economy turned around so I can begin to enjoy life like I did under the Clinton Administration :-).
Comment: Nothing went wrong with McCain, if Obomb was Republican, and McCain was Democratic. Obomb still would have won the election. So many stupid ingorant black people that have NEVER voted and know NOTHING about politics voted just BECAUSE he was black. End of Story..
Can you please GET OVER IT...what you fail to realize is that many black people did not vote for him because he was black, but because he is the right man for the job. Did you know that 61% of white voters voted for Barack? No you don't know because of the simple fact that you were so stuck on black people voting for a him because he is black. I need you to realize that the best and right man won. John McCain did a horrible job on his campaign and an even worst job by selecting Sarah Palin. So at the end of the day what you really need to do is JUST GET OVER IT thank you so much it's idiots like you that just don't get it.
Yes -- like many on this post I am glad the negativity that McCain / Palin represented was rejected!!!! Even at McCain's concession speepch -- likely the best speech of his campaign -- the hate-filled rabble was booing and embarrassed even McCain!
Religious fundamentalism is dangerous to democracy and dangerous to decency -- fundamentalism has NO PLACE in our White House!
Obama was elected by the educated majority!!!!! REAL American afamily values!
The educated majority? It's amazing that so many people can forget how our country is practically split down the middle regarding their political views. I am an educated, hard working, middle class woman who voted for McCain. When it comes down to it...roughly 50% of Americans are dissapointed every election, no matter who the victor. You can say that you are the majority...when in fact you are only the simple majority. I am interested to see if our newly elected President will be more moderate, or will divide our great nation even more with socialistic agendas. God Bless the USA!
I think the McCain's campaign was the best. I didn't see any thing best on Obama's campaign. Obama is the senator of Illinois for only three years, and haven't done anything good for Illinois besides all his promises.. He has no experiences in the office. He won the presidency because he got almost 98% from African-American vote. And McCain didn't get any damn vote from African-American. Was it fair for McCain?I don't believe whatever he had said during the campaign. Believe me he will not keep his promises. Let wait and see,ok?

I absolutely agree with testboy 1941,though from his screen name I think I have nothing incommon with him. That's what makes me believe that on the issues, economy, security, education etc. the people are closer to agreement than the politicians allow us to believe. I too believe that the McCain we saw in concession was a much more attractive man than the one we saw campaigning. It was brought up to me, which is the real one, I don't know that answer but I'm glad the "erratic" one campaigned. This gives this country a breath of fresh air. Please, lets all try to make it the country we want to leave our children and not the one where they have to duck.
Bob Dole made the perceptive comment back in 96 that his was the first campaign managed by Dr. Kervorkian. McCain's was the second.
It is very apparent that even with the win some of the democrats who are posting are still very bitter and angry. Not sure why! Name calling is not necessary and only leads to discussion that is not relavent. And what did Palin do to piss everyone off. Some even called her evil (what is up with that). Palin will be back with more experience and will not be guided by strategist limit her conversations. She will comeback on her terms!
On another note: Congrats to Obama. I look forward to the "Change" and Obama has given me hope as in I "Hope" he sticks to his centrist view points of the election process and not the liberal views he had in the Senate.
Sadly, there is partial attitude in America that tried to kill HOPE IN OUR FUTURE.. This election had shown
proof that our basic principles are still intact and there is no proof whatsoever that our elected new President
could not change the country for the good. We did have proof though that our actual government was sinking
the country. So, being only these 2 choices, why will I insist in a negative, hopeless attitude? Things get
changed ONLY when each one grabs the tool and start filling the pot holes, NEVER BEFORE!!! It is a 300
million people's job, not the job of the government only. Please, take risponsibility, yours!!!
Nothing more enjoyable than watching angry right wing Republicans after a loss. The mean spirited reaction to the McCain loss is exactly what turned the independant voters off in the last month of the election. The more McCain fell behind, the nastier the Evangical Republic base got, and the more most centralist Americans realized they had nothing in common with this Republican Party. This wasn't Ronald Reagan's Republican party. The Palin poick proved how badly the cowtowing to the religious right has become. Lets hope they can get their act together, or thie next 20 years will be a 1 Party America. It's time to kick the Evangicals to the curb.
I totally agree with you on this. It seems the only people to really vote for the Republicans were the White Evangelicals and Conservatives. Even then, some Conservatives voted Obama. It really does speak volumes.
