you folks are showing the bitterside of what America is all about . give the man a chance he won it fair and square without any hanging chads in florida , nothing is in question except the skin color . live with it , he will do a much better job than the present guy .

We have already 'Changed' the rules for qualifications for presidency. You now no longer need to be born in the USA. Still waiting for proof.

    • Posted By: daniRN @ 11/05/2008 11:47:59 AM

TDogg: John McCain was born in Panama (on an Air Force base-but if we are going to split hairs...). Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, HI which, last time I looked at a map was part of the United States. So use another argument or get your facts straight

Go to Obama's website, there is a copy of his birth certificate posted there. I can't believe people can be so ignorant to beleive that they would allow someone to run for the highest office in the country without checking into where he was born!!!!

The divide and conquer Rove politico is officially dead. WE demand hope not fear. You went to the well one too many times. I am proud of our people and our nation. Brighter days lay ahead.

Where is the link to the real birth certificate??? Anyone???

The Answer to this article can be summed up in one word: PALIN.
I am an independent. I am a 40-year-old white female, a mother, a CPA--conservative in some areas, somewhat liberal in others, mostly moderate. I was considering McCain until he picked Palin.
I then began researching Obama and found I could vote for him (although I am glad the Democrats did not obtain supermajority).
Even if I had been given a guarantee that McCain would live for the next 4 years, his VP choice left me doubting his judgement. At one point I decided McCain wasn't being himself--wasn't running his campaign, the GOP was--and this was the final straw. So now we get behind Obama a try to clean up the mess from the last 8 years.

The main reason MCC lost this election is because people are sick of the tainted legacy that is the GWB administration and that lead directly to so many people voting for BHO just to make it a vote against MCC. That happened because of the media. The media anointed BHO as the savior and refused to report anything negative about him, his family or his running mate despite all the questionable dealings and associations. Instead, the news media helped get McCain elected over all other Republican candidates (and the best overall qualified to lead this country) because he was the easiest to defeat. They bashed McCain. They bashed Palin, her family, her experience As an evangelical nut job (so were some of GWB advisors and HE got "elected"), she was a just a mediocre choice for VP but the media still assaulted her hard. Nothing was off limits in the MCC camp, but treat BHO with kidd gloves...., Ironically, Palin is more qualified than Obama. She at least has governmental leadership experience. Obama does not have any experience and only voted in the Senate - most times voting "present" as opposed to yea or nay. He couldn't make a decision then and now the flock of sheep has entrusted him to make decisions vital to our country's well being. Too many misinformed voters went to the polls only to vote against MCC and were not well informed on the differences between the platforms and the candidates. In some parts of the country the media TOLD people who to vote for under the guise of "here is who we think is the best qualified, just go to our web site..." It all started in the primaries, which in reality was just a popularity contest. The one candidate that is uniquely qualified to LEAD this country out of the huge mess left by GWB was not even seriously considered by the American people and was left out in the cold in favor of a political military man on one side and an inexperienced, untested junior senator versus a lobby influenced former first lady on the other. In the end. Only BHO and MCC remained for the big show - and then the American people made history. Just remember one thing - there have been many historic moments through time. The United States 2000 presidential election was historic, the return of an exiled Lawyer named Lenin to Moscow on a cold October day in the early 1900s was historic, and In the 1930s a man named Hitler was elected as Chancellor of Germany. Barak Obama may have won this election, but I still say he (or John McCain) is not the leader we really need. God help us , God help the world.

Today I woke up a happy and proud American. I drove to work with a sence of relief and again an overwelming feeling of pride. Yesterday Americans of all cultures, races, economic backgrounds, and political affiliations voted in record numbers and together selected the first Black President of the United States. We have come so far, and I can truely feel an awakening of real American Patriotism.

      Patriotism?????Obama????

Worst Campaign ever? How about worst liberal media treatment ever??? You should be very proud of yourself. Your man won!

    WE ARE ALL AMERICANS...

WE ALL HAVE THE SAME GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS...

WE AREN'T A NATION OF BLACK, WHITE, RED, YELLOW OR BROWN...

    WE ARE AMERICANS...

WE SHOULD LOVE ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORS, AS WE LOVE OURSELVES (and in some cases MORE)...

YOUR SUCCESS AS AN AMERICAN, SHOULD BE MY GOAL, MY SUCCESS, SHOULD BE YOURS...

YOUR BEST INTEREST, SHOULD BE STRIVED FOR BY ALL... and likewise...

AS I SAID... MANY... MANY... MANY MONTHS AGO...

    HAIL TO THE CHIEF:

    PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK H. OBAMA

May GOD BLESS him, his administration and most of ALL...

    GOD BLESS AMERICA...

Now for those that aren't really astute on World Politics... IT'S ABOUT TIME THAT WE ADDRESS THE SO-CALLED:

"former Soviet-Union"... Who do you think is responsible for pressing, consulting, arming and financing of AMERICAS ENEMIES (GLOBALLY)...

Our TROOPS don't need to be in Iraq but it is not time, by any stretch of the imagination, to bring them... FACT!!!

Get over your disappointment! President-Elect Barack H. Obama is the next president. I bet your asses that you weren't this bitter when Bush cheated his way into office, were you? Hell no, you weren't. It was he and his administration that causesd our economy to falter and now for someone to want to go behind him and clean up his ***....that takes one hell of a person to do so. My hat goes off to the man!!! He renewed a faith in government that seemed impossible and united all Americans, white, black, asian, hispanic, and so forth as evidence by people who voted for him. QUIT picking...trying to put the man down, he worked hard, had the financial backing and WON the election fair and square...LET IT GO!!! I am not alone when I say I welcome the much needed change in the U.S. with Barack as our 1st African American President. Kudos to you Barack and your family!!!

You left out the part about how the media failed to vet this new President-elect and annointed him President. McCain did not lose, the Press won. Now, let's see if President Obama can deliver on all of the promises he made. I cannot help but notice that less then 24 hours after he was elected the Press is already lowering expectations. To President Obama, the Democrat-controlled Congress, and the Press we say to your efforts to lower expectations: "No you can't!" We demand that he do exactly as he promised or in two years we weill thow out the Dems, just like we did in 1994, and in 2012 say goodbye to President Obama! "No, you can't!"

here is a thought that you all historians dont even suggest and know that it was going to happen no matter who big mac as he called him self.. the time was right dem were to take over historically . 8yr of clinton then 8 yrs bush so time came for yr of all be it obama, if he gets reelected. the war issue taxes and the like yes all played a part , people didnot wasnt the same old same oold. .but as long as the dems had a good canadate they were going to win, . In my opinion once kennedy gave his nodd to obama hileray lost out . kennedy did not like her with bill when he was president and hates her now as a senator . so to give her the nod and the fact that the good old boys only think woman will not make good presidnts is his mentality. now if his father was alive even obama wold not have been endorsed. again history will prevail. this is my view and I have been right on my own prognostigations the last 3 elections none of these guys publicy even sugset this because of tomuch back lash..congrats to him as a new president I will support him . doesnt mean I have to like him .he will get the job done not all his campaign promises will come to form but many will get done as time will prevail.. thanks for your time

This generation has become the most ignorant but racial and gay tolerant. They do not have any values. This generation X will self destruct. Why after obama already accepted he experimented with drugs still voted him to office? is because this generation are all high on some form of drug expensive designer or crack cocaine and skunk weed. We will see. This guy will sell this country down the river. He is a muslim by birth and muslims hate the Jews from birth and America is Israels biggest ally from the time begun. We'll see. He will self destruct. He will make himself rich first and then self destruct. This is what Pelosi is wanting to happen and see. If BO wins and there was already a threat on his life (hope nothing bad happens to him) and Biden takes over and someone pops him too, then pelosi sits at the throne. Perfect plan and she did not have to get her hands bloody so no need to wash her hands like Pontius Pilate did in the new testament. She wins. Hilary loses.

Watuseeiswatuget--TAKE A PILL! Good grief, you must have been hatching your words of wisdom for quite some time! The world will continue to spin on its axis, "W" will fade into the sunset of Texas to count his Daddy's money, and Barrack Obama is more a muslim than I am. Did you honesly want four more years of the Republicans--heaven knows the last eight worked well--wouldn't you agree????? If the John McCain of 2000 had been running in 2008 I would have voted for him in a heartbeat; however, the wheels came off that train. I need Sarah Palin telling me that the Iraq war is God's will? I don't think so. The woman has spent too much time in the cold. McCain was out spent, out managed, and certainly not well handled.

Sorry--I should have said that Barrack Obama is no more a muslim than I am. My fingers got ahead of my brain (not a very difficult thing to do).

watuseeiswatuget, Obama did no more experiemental drugs than George Bush did along with his daughters. You have to look on the upside of this debate. At least Barack Obama is brilliant while George Bush was brilliantless.

Israel is not America's biggest ally - but our biggest parasite - they've said many a time that they will protect their own interests first - they are just using us for what they can get out of us - like we are ATM machines. If this is your idea of a real friend, then look further for friends. They ain't it.

Come on, it was the economy stupid!!!! Once the news came out that banks were failing, Obama's chances sky-rocketed. Now the Democrats have the whole enchilada. The question is what they will do with it.

Now the Wing-nut from Alaska can go back where she belongs and hopefully stay there. A politically expediant wedding will no longer be necessary for her daughter. With luck we will never hear from that family again.

Hey galegp I say, "Welcome to America Sarah Palin", "NOW GO HOME"!!!!!!!

I am willing to bet that we have not heard the last of Sarah Palin (thank God)

  • Posted By: TDogg @ 11/05/2008 11:09:28 AM

Another laughable Newsweek article. We all know the reason Obama won is because the media annointed him "the one" and refused to report anything negative about him, his family or his running mate, despite all the questionable dealings and associations. Instead, the news media helped get McCain elected over all other Republican candidates because he was the easiest to defeat. Then they ripped him for his age and ripped his running mate, Ms. Palin. They bashed her family, her experience, nothing was off limits, even though she is more qualified than Obama, McCain, or Biden. She has executive experience, making 'the buck stops here' decisions. They only voted in the senate and most times Obama voted "present" as opposed to yea or nay. He couldn't even make a decision then and now you entrust him to make decisions vital to our country's economic & social well-being and our security.

You say Republicans are greedy and rich yet Obama was supported by big money news media and rich celelbrities. For the first time in my life I can honestly say that I'm not proud of my country. In the words of Obama's great mentor and reverend, 'God Damn America!'

    • Posted By: tempic @ 11/05/2008 11:41:51 AM

TDogg. You said it! We always suspected, but now we know, the Media can do anything...

Under the democratic congress, the gas prices soared to record highs. It took them crashing the stock market with charity home loans to bring it back down to reasonable prices. What great changes will they make next?
