Wow, archmsu, your blind ignorance scares me... you and all those like you who believe the propaganda that comes from candidates like Sarah Palin is what's wrong with this country. Get an edu-maction!

He won the white youth vote 18 to 29 okay, other age group barely
This was a pretty well-thought-out piece. However, it is flawed. The first "mistake" you listed was the choice of Sarah Palin as Vice President. I disagree completely. That is perhaps the one and ONLY thing which McCain did that was right. The first "mistake" on the republican ticket was the nomination of John McCain himself. Aside from Ron Paul, John McCain was the absolute WEAKEST candidate the republicans could have run! And I am not sure Ron Paul would not have done better, since he is completely right on economic issues.
But John McCain lacked the support of staunch republicans and conservatives from the very beginning. There was NO excitement for this candidate who gave us "campaign finance reform" and who supported amnesty for illegal aliens. Most republicans who voted for McCain admit that they were merely voting for the lesser of two evils. What should amaze you is the fact that Barack Obama only got 52% of the vote IN SPITE of all the positive press he got from the main stream media, and in spite of his promises to raise taxes on everyone (Yes, he promised to raise taxes...forget that stupid claim of his that he would not raise taxes on anyone making less than a quarter million dollars. He plans to let the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, and that IS a tax increase.). And Obama won IN SPITE of the fact that he CHOSE a MUTTERING OLD FOOL (Joe Biden) as his running mate. You can't seriously believe that Biden was a better choice than Sarah Palin???
I won't argue all the rest of the points you make, because I believe they are accurate. John McCain flailed incompetently throughout his campaign.
But I suggest to you that a ROMNEY/PALIN ticket or a HUCKABEE/PALIN ticket would have given us a VERY different result.
At any rate, THANK GOD that this election has ended! Now, we will give President Obama a chance. He could very well be an excellent president. Or...he could be another Jimmy Carter (which is what I suspect will happen).
The main reason MCC lost this election is becuase people are sick of the tainted legacy that is the GWB administration and that lead directly to so many people voting for BHO jusT to make it a vote against MCC. Too many misinformed voters went to the polls only to vote against MCC and were not well informed on the differences between the platforms and the candidates. It all started in the primaries, which in reality turned into a popularuity contest. The one candidate that is uniquley qualified to LEAD this country out of the huge mess left by GWB was not even seriously considered by the American people and was left out in the cold in favor of a political military man on one side and, an inexperiennced, untested junior senator. versus a lobby influenced former first lady on the other. In the end, only BHO and MCC remained for the big show - and then the American people made history. Just remember one thing - there have been many historic momments through time. The United States 2000 presidential election was historic, The return of an exiled Lawyer named Lenin to Moscow on a cold October day in the early 1900s was historic, In the 1930s a man named Hilter was elected as Chancelor of Germany. Barak Obama may have won this election, but I still say he (or John McCain) is not the leader we really need. I don't like to be wrong, nobody does, but I really hope I am.
Conservatism is far from dead. McCain did not run as a conservative and he lost because of it. Obama had to run to the right in order to persuade enough blue collar whites to vote for him. When the Republicans run a true conservative with the ability to articulate the issues to the American electorate a vast majority will again flock to the right and if the Democrats hope to stand a chance their candidate will have to move right as well. This election was not a referendum on conservatism, but a no confidence vote for Bush and his pseudo-conservatism.
Wow, lots of hate in here. You McCain supporters sound pretty anti-American now that your man lost.
This was a great article, but don't you know that there are two spaces after a period?!!
I am still upet he considers himself only as a African American. Hope his poor white momma a dn now granma arent turning in their graves. He is bi-racial and should be proud of that. He proclaims a lot like all politicians so now he has the majority in DC so get on with it and save us all! The media was so pro democrat that it would be hard for any Republican. MCCain is a hero and I think he did his best and his concession speech was heart felt and I hope he can serve in another capacity as we need his experience is some form. All those who voted for Mr. Obama now need to continue their vigor and enthusiam and make those sacrifices.
I also supported Obama, but I only leaned "strongly" toward him after the trashing campaign began. I too, thought that McCain's concession speech was strong, and even unifying. I cannot say for sure how differently I would had felt, had the campaign sounded more like last night's speech, but I think he would have fared much better in the election, even overcoming what I consider was poor judgement and a poor choice in selecting Sarah Palin. So the choices he made did not necessarily reflect, in my opinion, the man he seemed to be in the concession speech. It seemed to me during the campaign he was trying to reach a select group of people who the campaign seemed to believe were "True Americans." This same select group helped reelect Bush in 2004, so it was very hard for me to separate McCain from Bush.
McCain's biggest problem was Sarah Palin who shot her mouth off as a big pretender and she was really a big loser from the start!
First of all, the "Kill Him" comment has already been debunked and nobody with half a brain believes that it actually happened anymore. Since the author couldn't even get that fact right, how can I trust the rest of what he is saying?
Actually the comment can be heard during her rally. Your statement is incorrect. I truly believe that a candidate should not be held at fault for what supporters say and do, but for Palin not to make some response to negate those comments were horrible. Instead she grinned, shuffled, and shouted out for terroists comments.
Palinwas the worst mistake to the Republicans. I hope she leaves politics and goes back to journalism, at least in interviewing others she may learn important lessons; grammar, finance, business, economics, national govt.
An opportunity is presented for us to migrate from the negative concept of unitary executive. We anticipate having a government that will be truthful open and transparent to the populace. We have a constitutional lawyer that understands the constitutional limitation of the office of the president.
Down South21.... How are you going to lamblast someone about education when there are numerous grammatical errors in your post? See that? It's a plank; you might want to get that out.
Republicans are so evil and they are snakes in the grass. We knew the next day someone was going to take the blame and you blame it all on Plain. He didnt make his self sound any better either. Maybe if you all were more concerned with the issues and not how your vice president looked. You may couldve helped her with better speeches not one person gets the blame everyone in the camp messed up.

I am too glad it's over...It has been incredibily frustrating to think that the majority of the "news media" could clearly have chosen to avoid any factual discussion on Obama obvious shortcomings. They wnated him...and duped America to vote for him. Truly McCain was not the greatest choice...but completely ignoring the facts may be a huge mistake. I guess we will see, huh.
I think Sarah Palin helped Obama-Biden more than any Democrat Strategist. In the moment of crisis when people were loosing jobs and homes they were spending all their time in calling Obama all the names in the book, instead of talking to people's problems. It is a lesson for everyone who wants to bid for the President of United States that it is a serious post.
I wasn't happy with either candidate but had to make a choice. Obama was not my choice due to I liked the security of McCain having experience and has proved he loved this country by serving it.
However I fully back what the major votes choose. Therefore I am in full support of Obama and his Bob the Builder campain Yes we Can!!! This gives him the chance to prove his love and dedication, plus gain experience to help run the country.
One thing I have noticed is some of his fans look at him like a Saviour and that is scary. The guy needs to be giving a chance relistically to perform and not expected to produce miracles. Were in a great mess and I'm glad he made the statement about possibly taking a term to try to straighten out. God bless Obama and this country, he will be in my prayers.
John McCain is a good person. He was sincere in his concession speech last night. And I respected the way he quieted the boos eminating from his supporters. They were boos for the newly elected 44th President of the United States. His big mistake was Sarah Palin and her inane comparisons to being a pitbull with lipstick, her Joe Six Pack, and all other comments and misuse of the English Language. None of this is outdone by her ignorance of the Georgraph of our country, her interpretation of Foreign diplomacy. Her interview with Katie Couric and others and her total lack of common sense. No mother with a special needs baby drags his around all hours of the night and exposes him to the germs and disease he might be exposed to from the people she thinks she is entertaining. First of all this baby does not need to be carried like a sack of potatoes under her arm. He should be gently cradled in her arms as he was when Todd was carrying him. He is also passed around from sibling to sibling while trying to sleep, I think this is down right cruel to Trig. Now she can go home to Wasilla. Trig can go to bed at a decent hour in his own crib. The other children can go back to school where they belong and she can keep an eye on the Russian as they fly over Alaska. Duh. McCain's biggest mistake again, is choosing her to be his running mate. He should have chosen Romney or someone who has more knowledge and experience. I have her the comment that she is 'HOT", is that all the qualifications a VP needs. Marilyn Monroe was hot, but I cannot even begin to imagine her as VP of the US. What a mundane idea to select her for VP. I think the results of the elections shows what the intelligent citizens of our great country thought of Ms. Palin. I hope before her term is up in Alaska, she does not do anymore damage to that great state. Go home, take care of your family and spouse, these people should always be number one in her life.
