tom from NJ - seriously, you should look up the definition of "impeachment" before you call others dumb-ass.

  • Posted By: woofersntweeters @ 11/06/2008 2:09:37 AM

Clinton did nothing after the Cole and the embassy bombings and the first WTC attack? Were you living in a hole then? Dear me....you HAVE only been listening to FOX and Rush, haven't you???

Bill Clinton worked night and day to hunt those guys down....just missed killing Bin Laden by half an hour or so (which is a lot closer than W's gotten to him in 8 years)...and warned the incoming Bush administration that he was out there and planning something big. And what he DIDN'T do??? He DIDN'T attack another country by "mistake." He DIDN'T create a war zone ripe for Al Quaida to move into and destabilize half the Middle East. And he DIDN'T send 4000+ American kids to their deaths.

Inform yourself. Find a better news source...or at least a truthful one.

    • Posted By: Truth_Be_Told @ 11/06/2008 2:18:25 AM

Actually...Clinton did nothing. Maybe he worked day and night, but he still accomplished NOTHING (Except becoming the second president to be impeached.)

      • Posted By: tom from NJ @ 11/06/2008 11:27:43 AM

Hey dumb-ass, do you know the definition of "impeached"? Clinton was NOT impeached. This was decided after the republicans spent millions in tax payer dollars.

      • Posted By: roooth @ 11/06/2008 9:32:01 AM

"Clinton did nothing" Yeah, kind of like the same attack the Right tried against Obama, :He's never accomplished anything" Uh huh. Maybe the truth is more along the lines of petty jeolousy by those on the Right who refuse to educate themselves and resent those who do.

When I read something like that, I wonder - what have you done that was so great that you are fit to judge? Anything? I've noticed that those who are the quickest to accuse tend to be the last to accomplish.

One thing you have not accomplished is to get your facts straight - Clinton did a lot to respond to terrorism, and let's keep in mind that everything he did, he had to do in spite of the Republican led Congress, which fought him every step of the way. McCain and Gingrich, and the rest of the Republican leadership, were so intent on destroying Clinton that they fought against his efforts to catch Osama, they even accused Clinton of hyping the threat of Osama Bin Laden. They didn't believe Al Queda or Osama were a threat. They stood in Congress and said Clinton was using the non-existent threat of a terrorist attack by Al Queda as a distraction from their righteous investigations into the great national security threat of Monica Lewinski.

I know, it isn't what you want to hear. Those damn facts, getting in the way of your nuerotic need to Blame Clinton. But Clinton wasn't the problem, the problem was Republicans who, like Palin, have always been more obsessed with their own avaricious need for power than their concern for this country.

Clinton found, arrested, tried, and jailed the first WTC bombers - and he did it in spite of Congressional Republicans and without shredding the Constitution.

Turns out "Operation Chaos" actually described the McCain-Palin campaign perfectly. Who knew!?!

On a side note, isn't it funny that Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" movement (and the sheep that followed) unintentionally helped to usher in the Obama administration. Their foolishness worked out swimmingly. :)

  • Posted By: VeryProudAmerican @ 11/06/2008 11:14:36 AM

Turns out "Operation Chaos" is the perfect description of what the McCain-Palin campaign was like.

On a side note, isn't is funny how Limbaugh's whole "Operation Chaos" (and the sheep that followed his orders) paved the way for an Obama administration. Their foolishness worked out swimmingly.

One thing I've learned after 56 years on this good Earth: never blame the wolf for doing what comes naturally after being dropped into a herd of sheep.

Sarah Palin and the First Dude were plucked out of obscurity and given a credit card and a microphone with precious little vetting. The RNC and the McCain campaign got what they deserved.

John McCain is a good guy with principles--it's clear from the article that he stood fast on many of them. He just lost his way--and control--and his abyssmal 2008 campaign will be a sad footnote to what was otherwise a largely honorable life devoted to the country he loves.

Now it's time to move on--for all of us. We have a lot of work to do.

Despite this country's economy and infrastructure being disseminated over the past 25 years -- I too, after 50 years on this good Earth, feel for the first time in my adult life, that there is now, finally, geniuine hope.

145 years ago, Jefferson Davis sat in Richmond, Virginia, the capital of the old Confederacy, trying his damdest to keep slavery alive. Two days ago, 79% of Richmond citizens voted for the first African-American president.

Perhaps now, the Jefferson Davis's of this country will fade away, permitting this country to start recovering from years of corrosive fear-mongering and self-centered manipulation. Many in Alaska, for example, want to secede from the U.S. Perhaps we should let them. We can get by with 49, can't we?

Well, "Truth Be Told," now you know how the rest of us felt in 2000 and 2004. Bush the 43rd bankrupted the country, made a mockery of the Constitution, and waged a war under false pretenses. And his would-be-successor sold out most of his principles and named a joke for his Veep.

Find a good therapist or a hole to hide in. Better yet, stop watching FOX and listening to redneck shock jocks and join the human race. You'll find it refreshing.

    • Posted By: Truth_Be_Told @ 11/06/2008 2:04:11 AM

Your logic doesn't make sense. "Bush bankrupted the country"... so the solution is for Barak to bankrupt the country even more???

I think I'l go watch Kieth Olbermann, and yell at everybody all night long on how they're the worst person in the world.

      • Posted By: roooth @ 11/06/2008 9:48:20 AM

Yeah, because stopping the $10 billion A MONTH being handed out to war profiteers like Halliburton for Bush's Iraq Folly is going to further bankrupt us. Uh huh.

Do you think about what you post before you post it, or do you just cut and paste Fox talking points?

As far as I'm concerned, bring our troops home from Iraq, station them along our borders, de-privatize our military and start spending some of that $10 billion a month here in the US - put it right back into our economy.

Our country went bankcrupt because it spends way too much on Medicaid, Medicare and other entitlements. It is not Dubya's fault alone. It started way before he took office. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt I also recommend you watch "IOUSA" and be enlightened (google it). Barry's socialistic tendencies, i.e. healthcare for everyone, makes me wonder where he'll get the funding if he also promised tax cuts.

      • Posted By: the truth65 @ 11/06/2008 9:27:07 AM

im not suprised by the mere hate that is screeching from u on our newly elected president..
obama is one who coupled along with his brilliant education, and his love for service for his country has shown all that unlike mccain, obama does not need 20+ years to catch onto washington politics or to understand what is best for america..

mccain was a maverick who sold his "political soul" to those in the neo-cons that smeared him back in 2000..umm,umm,umm....
if mccain would have stuck to what made him the maverick, and gave speeches like he did on tuesday night on being one and not devisive then this could have been a different outcome..but he let political greed takeover and forgot that he is one who would work on the behalf of all americans and not ideologs..

obama knew not to discrace his family or himself by going to lowball politics, by lying, cheating, and becoming a say anything do the opposite type of politician, and, thank god for that...he may have had an unstable childhood at 1st,but,he righted his own ship and has become the inspiration to many!!!

say what u will but this man will not discrace us the american citizen, our country, our standing in the world, nor himself..u should only be so lucky, honored,or blessed to be like him, truth be not told..

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh,America is going to be stronger, and better than before...

        THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!

The Election is over. The Best person/s for the job has won. Now is the time for healing and prayers. We are the people of America" In God We Trust." If we truely believe in Him ours prayers will be to help the New President and his staff to better this Country. McCain thought that the women of America were stupid and desperate that we would vote for any woman to be in office. We realize that we needed more than Socker Mom, wearing lipstick, acting like a Pit Bull in The White House.

This is just my opinion. I like to see the good in all.
Now first and foremost...I voted for Obama. And cried all night last night. This is a moment in our history books that I can say I was there, I helped.
Now that the dust has settled, looing at McCain last night he looked defeated not only by the Presidency but I think by his actions. Sarah Palin went "roque" and I think McCain got caught up in it. It makes sense when you remember how many peple were disappointed in him and said that that was not the John McCain they knew. I think Palin sent him in a downward spiral and he couldn't get out. His political career is tarnished now. But I have a feeling that he will redeem himself and will be an asset in the years to come. I just pray that that was the last we heard from Sarah Palin.
    This is just my opinion.

I hope you're right! I'd like to believe that the "other" previous John McCain was the REAL John McCain! However, while I agree with pretty much everything you wrote, you have to admitt that John McCain brought most of this on himself! He is the one who decided to make his VP pick a "crap shoot" and not "vet" the woman or choose somone he knew well. So in that respect I can't feel much sympathy for the man. I have to wonder if his "kinder" words of Monday and Tuesday weren't some last minute attempt to save his reputation, but came a little late! I guess only time will tell!

Enter Your CommentMy bullshit meter is going off. This smacks of scapegoating and the blame game directed Palin's way. There is not a single (not a single) negative remark about McCain, from his campaign staffers. Well then, he must have led a masterful campaign . . . Except, wait, wasn't he the one who said tanked his campaign over and over and over by saying "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran," "the fundamentals of the economy are strong," "fire the SEC chief," "I'm suspending my campaign," and "that one." I'm betting that Steve Schmidt, Nicole Wallace, and Mark Salter don't see prospects much beyond the unemployment line (like thousands of Americans they had no plans for helping).

Regardless of what ticket you're supporting, Newsweek conducts this special project to get out all the behind-the-scenes FACTS. This is not unconfirmed 'gossip'. I find it important to know what was going on behind the scenes, for future decisions that I will make regarding either candidate's future political endeavors. Thanks Newsweek! I'm going to sign up for a subscription.

Also, those dilusional Republicans who are still enamored wth Palin and are clamoring for her to run for president in 2012... I would love to see it happen. If you thought this was a shocking landslide wait till Obama gets re-elected with over 400 electoral votes when he runs against the Wasilla hillbilly in 2012.

Granted that by then she could study up on facts that most average high school kids know (like Africa being a continent or which 3 countries are members of NAFTA) the only idiots that would vote for someone this unqualified are the brainwashed un-intellectuals in the Republican base. No one with an IQ above 105 and a college education would vote for her. She managed to scare even my Republican friends into voting for Obama. The woman is completely out of control, extremist, ignorant fool.

Thank God that McCain/Palin did not win! not so much because of McCain and his succesfully changing the respectful opinions that millions of people once had for him and showing what an out of touch, erratic old man he is and leading the most negative and divisive campaign the country has ever witnessed. The main reason we should be thankful is that America is no longer threatened by the possibilty of the most ignorant, hypocritical, corrupt, greedy, self comsumed, sneaky, hillbilly skank being a 72 year olds heartbeat away from the most powerful position on earth! She has prooved over and over again with passion that she is an absolute fraud and stands for everything that is wrong with our country.Obama shows a deep and sincere degree of compassion and intelligence with the calm comfort and strength of a great leader. He will bring the change needed to America. God Bless America and the President Elect Barack Obama and the new Firstlady Michelle Obama and their beautiful daughters!
