armarmom, You aand many others are decieved. I can't figure out why you and others do not see the obvious of inaugerateing a man into presidency that is VERY well connected with middle eastern terrors (and a few in our coutry).. Putting someone into office that could only produce a copy of a not so obvious official birth cert. (he was born in Kenya HELLO PEOPLE WAKE UP) It's like I am walking around in a night mare and can't wake up. Why can't they hear me or hear all the reports??? Oh because they are concerned about how much money Sara Paling spends on shoes. Divorced mom, you need to turn on the news a little more and learn how to research. I wonder how long McCain would've lasted if he were buds with terrorists or if his education were paid for by Alquida? People in other countries are laughing their asses off at us.

    • Posted By: Legendary @ 11/05/2008 10:53:11 PM

You are a joke! Do some real reading! Stop making excuses for some inner prejudice. You may not be even a racist but you do need to learn the truth! You can see his mom was white and a american from kanas! his father was from Kenya but moved to America to go to college. In college is where Obama's parents met.

Obama's father died in a car accident in Kenya when he was young so hknown him! Obama was raised by his grandparent on his mom side who also was white! Obama has not forgoten who raised him and has mentioned his mom who helped spark his movement for change! he e never really may not been in the war but his grandfather was.

Obama is black and white! Not Arab! He's not a terrorist! That was scare tactics for the blind! Why would a terrorist run for president but care about so many people?? His father was muslim and being muslim dose not make you a terrorist. it's a religion that some misrepresent it. Clan members misrepresented being Christian and felt they were doing GODs work when killing people! Burning crosses etc! Though no one says this is terrorism! It's not much present but making a point about labeling people. So if you had a name of a clan member though not part of one but was label you could be because of the name how would you feel??? We have to stop these dumb reasons to hate people before getting to know them!

    • Posted By: DigitalDazed @ 11/05/2008 9:48:01 PM

Actually you hateful maggot, he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Yes his father is kenyan, but attended college at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. That is how his parents met. just how is he connected so well with middle-eastern terrorists? Maybe if you or someone else could show me undeniable proof, then I would believe you. But you just ranting and raving like a lunatic is completely uncalled for. He is your president now, so get over it.

      • Posted By: armarmom @ 11/05/2008 9:52:41 PM

        Thank you DigitalDazed!!

    • Posted By: armarmom @ 11/05/2008 9:51:02 PM

and just to let Kernernurse know, I may be a divorced mom but I am also college educated, with a Law Degree with minors in English and Political Science. I read more than most and watch news almost constantly. Get to know who your judging before you judge. Obama was born in HAwaii hIS FATHER was born in Kenya you idiot.

    • Posted By: armarmom @ 11/05/2008 9:46:46 PM

give me a break. I happen to be very well informed. Not only did I vote for the right man so did my sister a LT Col who served a tour in Iraq, my son who has served three in Iraq for the corps and my 77 and 78 year old parents both of whom live and have lived in ARIZONA Grow the hell up!! By the way, I am very capable of reading, listening and learning. Why aren't you. The NAME scares you, not the color of the man, or anything else. I hate ignorance in people and Kernernurse, you are ignorant.

You have to be the BIGGEST MORON on the face of this earth. First off learn how to spell...sadly enough you can't seem to spell the name out of the candidate you obvously voted for office...it's PALIn you idiot! and second of all OBAMA was born in HAWAII...and as far as i know Hawaii is part of the 50 states! You need to take your own advice and do some more "RESEARCH" because you clearly know NOTHING and people like you are thereason why this country has such racism and discrimination issues. OBAMA is the PRESIDENT of the US...if you don't like it...to FLIPPIN bad!!

  • Posted By: chris@home @ 11/05/2008 10:42:07 PM

it does not. oh my god, so many ignorant people so little time. its just comparing one part of history, to now. theres nothing wrong with comparing to periods of time.

  • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:38:57 PM

    Summer4077 your not confused.
you probably just looked past color and just voted for the candidate of your choice.
like those who voted for McCain did.
I'm wondering if a "black" person voted for McCain...are they racist since McCain is white???

  • Posted By: myopion@mail.com @ 11/05/2008 9:32:32 PM

Wow now you believe that someone who was never asked a tough question by the lapdog media and changed his opinion when he needed to IE Rev. Wright was his most important person until it hurt him in the polls is now president. It's not about race but about the fact the he is a politician like all others. He is out for only one himself. Check his record anyone who asked to hard a question was attacked a play out of the Chicago Democratic handbook. I didn???t support him but recognize an ultimate politician looking out for number one so he will do what to be popular.

    • Posted By: Legendary @ 11/05/2008 10:38:51 PM

Funny you say this when McCain is no better! McCain was endorsed by a preacher that felt Hilter was doing GODs work! Mccain had ties to a man who not only did a terrorist act and went to prison he also tried to assinate someone! David Laterman pointed that out! I thought wow what a hyprocrate McCain is! Also McCain sat in rallies where people yelled out hateful words and threats though he says he's a true american??? You fail to mentioned this though!

  • Posted By: E-caza @ 11/05/2008 10:38:44 PM

I will admit that the number of religious fundamentalists opposing President-Elect Obama almost made me re-think my opposition to his campaign. I despise religious intolerance and extremism in any form, whether it comes from Islam or Christianity. There is no greater threat to a free society than religious extremism. The Republican Party won't survive another election unless they can cut away that diseased portion of the party.

Don't get excited neither cocky Obama-maniacs ( you will need more energy).
I'm independent and I voted for Obama not because he is a great choice but because I WANTED THE EVIL OUT OF MY BACK.
I want the responsible of this economical crisis in jail -which includes the media- their money to paid our debt
I want our troops back in home by February 03, 2008.

Dude, Barack is only 6.25 percent Black/African-American. He is 50 percent Caucasion (White), and the rest is freaking Arab/Middle-Eastern. He is not the first BLACK/AFRICAN-AMERICAN president, he is the first MIXED president, and if anything, we STILL have a WHITE president. You reporters and media need to get your facts straight.

    • Posted By: rhoades1990@ @ 11/05/2008 9:59:48 PM

white, black, mixed, purple, asian, who cares?

      • Posted By: concernedpatron @ 11/05/2008 10:37:11 PM

"purple or green? we have got to draw the line somewhere"

    • Posted By: Legendary @ 11/05/2008 10:32:57 PM

Where did the Arab come from??? How do you know?? I know his father was black and mother white? I would say 50% both. Though no African american is 100% African anyway! Now if you was to say by skin most whites would say he's black!

Blacks didn't start this label but learned to accept it! I have not seen many 100% black people these days unless they just moved here from some apart of Africa. Not all africans are dark in complexion. These is the same about whites in america. Not all whites share european features. We need to get over this race thing and look at the person!

Also you can't just get on blacks labeling Obama as the first African America. McCain thinks he's black as well as the media and some whites in America. So your point is??? Also show me this proof of having Arab in him??? If your looking at the name it is a muslim name. Muslims are not a type of people but a religion. I seen even white muslims at a convention here in Michigan!

  • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:36:07 PM

if it determined SKIN COLOR Barack OBAMA is BROWN...not BLACK

  • Posted By: JsunH @ 11/05/2008 10:34:10 PM

chris@home oh and comparing him to Hitler does make you a racist.

  • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:32:39 PM

yea that whole Hitler thing was so weird. LOL
like everyone might have said something relevant...but he just took it all OUT LOL.
    he deserves a TIME OUT

  • Posted By: khasroo29 @ 11/05/2008 10:31:50 PM

Congratulations Mr.Obama. You have made history. I am sure you can with your sincerety show the world US is part of the world and good and bad affects them equally. You can move forward and bring all nations together to solve the warlike situation prevailing in the world. If Senior Bush did that when Kuwait was invaded. You too can talk to world leaders and identify the problems with a view to solve them with participation of other nations. Everyone expects the US President to lead the world but not with arrogance but with grace.

  • Posted By: republicanmom @ 11/05/2008 2:55:01 PM

He is nothing more than a smooth talking snake in the grass!
He will leave our country defensless and in worse economic shape than at present.

You are judging the man without even giving him the benefit of the doubt !

My daughter attends the University of Illinois and called me last night while she was standing in line and waiting to vote in her FIRST NATIONAL ELECTION, and was so proud of her decision and the decisions of her classmates to not only have the opportunity to vote for the first time, but to choose someone that they all felt was the best person to lead our country forward.
She told me that the number of students that came out to vote last night was unbelievable. Baby boomers like myself and our young adults that will someday be the leaders of tomorrow truely recoginized that this man could and will lead us forward to a democracy that we can all be proud of.
Yes we are all afraid of change but change is what this country needs and not 4 more years with a stagnent government !! The country has spoken and it was evident last night !!
Grant Park and the City of Chicago and our entire country for that matter can now hold their heads up high once again!!! I am proud to be an American and look forward to the next 4 years with a president that will do us all proud !!

      • Posted By: archmsu @ 11/05/2008 5:27:39 PM

It's the Baby Boomer generation that ruined this country...................Your the generation that has been in control for the last 20 years!!!!!! What was that saying from the sixties....."we want it all and we want it now," no wonder our economy is failing.

        • Posted By: lbdavies @ 11/05/2008 5:53:45 PM

I am proud of when I was born and being a baby boomer, you have a very shallow mind, again judging my generation without really knowing the facts. I was born in 1954 and was playing with dolls when the politicians of america were running the country so don't fault my generation when I was not even old enough to vote. Next !!

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE. THE AUTO INDUSTRY HAS TANKED. UNEMPLOYMENT IS AT A ALL TIME HIGH, HOMES ARE BEING FORCLOSED ON DAILY, GROCERIES ARE SKYROCKETING, ETC. AND OBAMA IS GOING TO MAKE THE ECONOMY WORSE. HONEY, I DON'T THINK IT CAN GET MUCH WORSE THAN IT IS NOW. GIVE HIM A CHANCE. OR ARE YOU SO COLORED BLIND YOU CANNOT SEE THAT INSTEAD OF BEING THE PROBLEM, HE MAY BE THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. THE PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, SEXES, COLORS AND NATIONALITIES SPOKE YESTERDAY. THEIR VOICES WERE HEARD, AND THAT AND THAT IS THE WAY WE HAVE OUR NEW PRESIDENT. YOU CAN ALWAYS MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY WITH YOUR TUNNEL VISION. PALIN WOULD PROBABLY LOVE FOR YOU TO VISIT HER IN WASILLA. SHE MIGHT EVEN MAKE YOU HER NEW COMMISSIONER, BEING THAT SHE CANNED THE OLD ONE.

    • Posted By: ThePeoriaKid @ 11/05/2008 5:40:56 PM

republicanmom, something tells me you're as thick as a brick. You wouldn't know an honest man from a flim-flam man. It seems that is a common thread running through the republican party these days. I'll bet you voted for W twice. Good judgment has passed you by, and I'll wager this won't be the last time. Relaxe and enjoy Barack Obama. You might even grow to respect him. If not, move to Alaska.. I hear they have a country starting up there for you folks.

those who oppose our decision for Barack Obama have no legit reason to oppose.
instead they bring in the whole Military CRAP or the pathetic race card.
there have been many presidents in our past who haven't served in the Military and have done way better than those WHO HAVE.
its not even like McCain and Obama were close in the votes either.
Obama succeeded in Electoral and Popular votes. doesn't that say something?

    • Posted By: james-wilson @ 11/05/2008 10:03:29 PM

Obama only succeeded in POPULAR votes by a whole whopping 6 percent. so shut your mouth and think and research before you talk. please. thank you.

      • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:09:09 PM

if he only succeeded in Popular votes how do u think he WON? you IDIOT
        he had 338 Electoral VOTES t o McCain's 145
no research needed....I saw it live.

        • Posted By: E-caza @ 11/05/2008 10:14:26 PM

He won both the popular vote and the Electoral College vote. However, he only won the popular vote by 6%, certainly not the massive "mandate for change" that some would have you believe it to be. It was an "electoral" landslide, but certainly not a "popular" one. If he wishes to actually accomplish anything, President-Elect Obama will have to convince that other half of the "popular" vote that he is the right man for the job.e

          • Posted By: Legendary @ 11/05/2008 10:23:01 PM

Some though knowing Obama is educated still will feel the way they feel. Though After seeing the outcome I see people can change! So I have faith many that didn't choose him would learn to love him or atleast have a better opinion about him!

            • Posted By: E-caza @ 11/05/2008 10:29:46 PM

Which will be the real test of his Presidency, not saber-rattling by the Russians. If he assumes he has a blank check from America for change and ignores that chunk of the country that didn't vote for him, then it'll be politics as usual, just like the past 8 years.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 10:15:31 PM

6% in an election is huge. HUGE. It's usually like 1% difference. 6% is millions...

        • Posted By: E-caza @ 11/05/2008 10:19:57 PM

Roughly 6 million people. Less than 1/3 the population of the New York metropolitan area. That's 6 million voters out of a little over 100 million. Again, not an earth-shattering number or the massive "mandate" that some believe he has been given by the American people.

    • Posted By: E-caza @ 11/05/2008 10:05:59 PM

So I guess that my opposition to partial birth abortion, belief that "the Surge" is working in Iraq and desire to see less government intrusion in my life aren't legitimate reasons to have voted for Senator McCain as opposed to President-Elect Obama? Now who is being intolerant?

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 10:14:42 PM

Nope, those are very legitimate reasons! Just very misguided...

  • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:28:17 PM

HazelBridet I never called u a racist...nor did I to the people that used race.
I simply think its rediculous to bring in the race card in this situation.
I don't even remember anythig you've written. soo......................

  • Posted By: NYC4life @ 11/05/2008 10:21:28 PM

I'm sick and tired of this already.
BLACK isn't the Opposite of WHITE.
and it wasn't only BLACK & WHITES who voted for Obama....many other ehnicities / races voted for Obama as well.
the point for the Candidate is to persuade votes on his side. thats he point of the whole CAMPAIGN.
    OBAMA obviously DID THAT!!!
    enough already.
