SUCK IT UP!!!! OBAMA IS PRESIDENT NOW....FOR ALL OF U WHO WANT TO MOVE TO CANADA...BYE...PEOPLE ARE STILL PREJUDICE AND THAT'S A DAMN SHAME. THIS IS THE MAIN REASON WHY SOME WHITES AREN'T VOTING FOR HIM...OH WELL...IT COULDN'T BE WHITE FOREVER!!!! BE VERY AFRAID OF US NOW!!!! SINCE U THINK WE'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!

To sound like this makes you no different than what your trying to defend! Now Obama is not just black but both black and white! Some whites would label him black based on skin color knowing he is bi-racial! Also Obama did not win based on only black votes but united votes of all people white, black, latin, asian, native american and others. So for you to say what you said makes you do better than the ones against Obama! This is not a race thing! Obama is president of everyone! Even the ones who are against him! It was time based on the times! Not race! The more we look at the man than color then the more we better ourselves for unity! We are all GODs children! Face it! GOD BLESS!

So much for a post-racial society.

After the last eight years, it will be nice to have someone in the White House who is intelligent, articulate and thoughtful. He has shown exceptional judgment and discipline in his campaign, which will serve him well as president. I urge all of you who are concerned about his presidencey to write out your concerns and revisit them in 4 years. I am confident that those things that you fear most will not happen, that our country will be in better shape and it will all be a result of his presidencey. Fearmongering has run our politics for too long, and I see nothing wrong in having our leaders actually lead usand inspire us to better our country. Don't you want your president to ask more of you that to just "go shopping" when hard times hit?

The reason he won!!! The National PRESS!!!! They were disgraceful.

Come on now! McCain has had a lot going for him in this campaign. All you heard was how experince he was over Obama. Even with a bad VP choice McCain was still considered a better choice though Obama is well educated he was lacking something??? McCain spent his money on dumb ads showing what someone else has said and not out of Obama's own mouth! McCain did Rev. Wright ads to scare whites or anger whites in not voting for a man who could not be racist towards whites when he is half white. How dumb was that?? Also McCain looked like a hyprocrate when he has stood in rallies were people are yelling out hateful comments and been endorse by a preacher who says Hilters acts were a act of GOD! McCain forgot America is not just black and white! America is of many people! Obama won because of unity of people! That's why he got my vote. To be a president to promote unity I can love but a president that divides us I can not trust! We fight wars united!

I'm sixty-one, served 12 years in the military, 3 tours in Vietnam and I know from my life's experience that people like Obama are elected by people who have never served anything but themselves. I mourn for the country I used to know and am only consoled by the hope that I do not live long enough to see the final fall of the United States of America into socialism and slavery of the masses. Good Lord, we have elected a person with NO experience to run our country ! The next four years are going to be chaotic and very dangerous. I hope the liberals in the U.S. finally learn from this upcoming four years, what the world is really like.

get over yourself . and start watching something beside fox. I have a brother who was permanently disabled in Viet nam and he voted for guess who. president elect Obama. Because He is a patriot and voted his heart not his party. by the way we are not black and we are retirement age .

    • Posted By: DigitalDazed @ 11/05/2008 9:31:19 PM

your comments are completely twisted. i'm sorry you feel the way you do. but the fact is that he is your president, just as he is mine. so like it or not. saying those that voted for obama have not served anyone but themselves is just completely retarded. you just need a good beating for that one. by step-father was a vietnam veteran and served the same amount of tours as you did, and he voted for obama.

oh my god Barack Obama's black?? big deal
i didnt vote for him because of the color of his skin i voted for him because he was CLEARLY the best candidate. A lot of responses here are pretty ignorant (republicanmom, johndeergirl, etc. etc.) get over it he's your president too. Why are people so shocked?? i mean McCain did put up a good fight but the Bush Administration ruined the rpublican's chances in the election here i have respect for the man cuz he was a good o opponent to barAck and had dignity wwhen he lost IN YOUR FACE WHITE SUPREMICISTS!!

Comment: I knew some people would be angry about Obama winning the presidency, but understand this, this country as well as the world is on the verge of change and everyone knows and understands this (except some people) Get over it, he won and by a landslide. Obama will be a great president of the place we call America and home. For all those who do not like it, you have a choice to move else where. Save the socialism comments, they will get you no where. For all you whiners and haters, if you want to blame anyone for the outcome, blame the people of America who are tired of the way the country has been ran and is ready for change.
AMERICANS have spoken. GET OVER IT!!!! No one has a problem when Tiger Woods plays great golf and they want his autograph, right? Or when Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics won the Basketball Championship, everyone was so happy. So what is the problem when an African American runs for the President? Is that such a crime? Oh I get it, African Americans can make you laugh, play great sports, but they can???t run for the highest office in the country, give me a break! The people who are mad are the one???s who have been taught by their parents to hate. Hate will get you no where. Relax and help the man change the country for all of us Americans. Just be glad that you are alive, have your health and can get up and go to work everyday. Put all the energy you use to hate, to change the way you look at and treat people. Hate is the main reason why this country is not united.

Wow now you believe that someone who was never asked a tough question by the lapdog media and changed his opinion when he needed to IE Rev. Wright was his most important person until it hurt him in the polls is now president. It's not about race but about the fact the he is a politician like all others. He is out for only one himself. Check his record anyone who asked to hard a question was attacked a play out of the Chicago Democratic handbook. I didn???t support him but recognize an ultimate politician looking out for number one so he will do what to be popular.

If any black or all blacks voted for Obama just becausehe is black, then so what? So what? It merely countered the votes against him just because he is black. He was clearly the best candidate. Some people just don't want to accept that any black can think for themselves, nontheless as well and as clear thinking as Barack Obama.

    • Posted By: Legendary @ 11/05/2008 9:30:28 PM

Thank you! There are many who have voted against him based on skin color spite knowing he is bi-racial! Though it should not been based on race. Most people feel comfortable with someone they feel would represent them. This is the same factor that some women wanted Hillary to win. It has not been a female that high in office as much as any minoriies. This will open opportunites for anyone who dream and try hard! Nomatter the color or sex we have seen change in America! Thank you for the response!

Admath1077 is still so ignorant!! Obama is no muslim and has never been. You say he does not believe? He has been a a christian all his life and displays more chridtianity than McCain the bigot. It is a pity that there are still people in this great country with so much tele-education displaying this level of ignorance. Where in the world do you get your facts from? At least try to verify. Do some more reading. I see you can write. So you can read too. Use your local library some more. Obama is poised to bring prosperity even to you!!

I am not an African-American. I am an American who happens to be black. However, many people of this nation--including its founders--thought and still think less of blacks. What is more unpatriotic: To be one of the many who harbor biased hatred towards fellow countrymen or not saluting Old Glory?

Enter Your CommentYour an idiot. to say our founders did not believe inthe basic rights of even blacks makes you an ignorant person. It is those founders that wrote of all men being equal and included that basic tenets in their writings to include women and blacks the future they now have. remember that slavery started in the Africa, but was fought and stopped here in the west!

Beauregard65-no disrespect sir, and I'm thankful for what you did for this nation, but answer this one question....how do you build experience? by just doing it, we have all sir started at the bottom of soemthing and grown into what we are. Yes granted he may not have the standard experience of the bloated resumes of washington politicians but he has proven himself to be a NATURAL born leader. May I remind you that the president of the United Sates is simply an elected leader....and Obama manged to prove that he can.....LEAD.....a nation to do the things that we dreampt about but had not realized...1. Provide a common purpose 2. Motivate 3. Deliver a winning campaign-----by bringing the MASSES to vote in the record numbers they did yesterday. That sir is a proven fact!

If he really desires what is best for America; if he really can be objective; if he surrounds himself with the best minds of conservatives and middle-grounders, as well as those much publicized radicals he's been intimate with, for the past couple of decades, then, we've got a winner! Obama has the advantage of not being a decendant of slaves. Therefore, he may not have the inherent desire to stick-it-to-the-man, that has kept many people of color in a constant angry state of mind. Let's imagine him surrounded with light and wisdom and protection. Regardless of how we voted, he's what we've got. Let's help him by not thinking or being negative. Whatever he does, is going to affect us. So, we'd better wish him and bless him!

Since when does BEING IN THE MILITARY been a mandatory MUST to become the President of the United States. Is it not safe to say that Conservatives are obsessed with fixating Military service to Patriotism. People VOTED for Obama because he is intelligent, brave and has tremendous leadership skills. Who's to say that only because McCain was in the military he's up for the challenge of being the leader of this country. it's been PROVEN that McCain is NOT equiped for Presidency since this isn't his first time running and not his first time LOOSING. Liberalism has the great asset of ACCEPTANCE...progressivism. The only reason there are those radicals who are FAR left is because they are simply tired of all the crappy, narrow-minded, Religious blood sucking views and ways that have been placed in the Republican Party. J.F. Kennedy was YOUNG, and didn't have much experience...and when put up to the challenge he SUCCEEDED. Way better than George W. Bush did and better than McCain will ever think he can do.
Truth is that for some reason Republicans vote for Republicans only because of the party and its conservative ways. I commend those Reps. who pushed their differences aside and chose Obama because they truley felt that he is the right choice. the reason EUROPE does so well is because of their LIBERALISM.
I only hope that Conservatism dies out with the old and a new beginning will come with the YOUNG!!!!

PRESIDENT OBAMA did it the way an honest candidate should have. He was professional, courteous, and committed to staying on task. He didn't use race as weapon like the rest of candidates. They were using their political buzz words hoping that those who were uneducated wouldn't understand what they were saying. I'm sure many would be upset because the polls and machines were monitored closely and a lot of voters didn't just there to vote, they also went there as security, too, reporting everything that they felt was suspicious activity with the machines. Unlike the last two elections, miniorities weren't stopped by the police stopping them from going to the polls. Sure, there may many who blame fraudulent activity but we know the truth. America was tired of the same old tired system that corrupted our our livelihood and destroyed our economy. Those who voted against Obama and what he stood for should abandon their excuses and face reality. America has decided to make the transition from the "Good Ole Boys System" to the "Brand New Boys System." Accept what has what has been prophisized. We have now acquired not only a new United States but a New United People. We Are ONE!!!!!!!!!

What do you think Obama will do as president? Bush has done a good enough job arming the terrorists in Iraq, how can Obama do any worse other than by handing out nukes?

      • Posted By: AKengo @ 11/05/2008 7:12:04 PM

Don't forget that Bush also negotiated with terrorists(North Korea). An act which he himself said should never be done.

im a 21 yr old living in miami florida, i spent 6 hours waiting in line on my birthday to vote for Obama. thank god it paid off, i truely believe that he will get this country up and running again, not only that but he has made huge history being the first African American to win. i didnt just vote for Obama because he was black , i voted because he was the correct choice and america agreed. i just cant wait until january 20 so that he can move into the white house!!!

  • Posted By: ohiogal2008 @ 11/05/2008 9:14:44 PM

I voted for Obama because I felt he was a truly inspirational and transformational character. He wasn't tied to lobbyists and he showed he was an intelligent and passionate man. I admired a man who had come from nothing and worked hard to achieve everything he earned. He could relate to the middle class like no elite ever could. But until he clenched victory I didn???t really understand how much it meant. Just 40 years ago, America joined Martin Luther King and listened to his ???I have a dream speech.??? He spoke of a country that would 'judge a man not by the color of his skin but the content of his character.' 40 years later American did just that, we live in a truly blessed and wonderful country.

  • Posted By: iseetherealyou @ 11/05/2008 6:22:52 PM

Obama will not be the demise of this country like so many think. It actually will be your children. I have taught high school for many years. I can no longer teach at the same intellectual level as I did even 10 years ago because the kids no longer want to work. I have to keep my failure rates below 10% (district policy) so I have to lower my standards to keep the failure rates for the lazy kids low. Therefore, a less educated populace means we can't compete globally, which means America tanks. Plain and simple. Look close to home folks. Maybe Obama will be a catalyst to encourage the billions fo Americans who have accepted mediocrity as the norm to strive for something better. Obama is educated and articulate. I can't say most of your children are the same. Go ahead, ask your kids (people of any color) how they reacted at school today. Most couldn't tell you anything about this election except that Obama is black and McCain is white. Course they use other terms. How about having an intellectual conversation with them about why you voted the way you did. If you can't say more than I voted for Barack because he is black or I voted for McCain because he is white, they you are the reason this country will falter, no matter who is in office.

    • Posted By: mystified0997 @ 11/05/2008 6:53:24 PM

is it possable that not all the children are lazy but they need more help and aren't getting it because teachers don't want to teach the ones that need more help because they don't want to work harder. when children don't get help when they need it they get to a point of not careing any more if the teacher doesn't care why should i. is a childs mantality.

      • Posted By: iseetherealyou @ 11/05/2008 7:10:26 PM

Sure its possible. One in every 100 or so kids needs extra help and a boost to the self esteem. Most are lazy kids who have never known hardship and have an attitude of entitlement. Like most you focus to narrowly. Ask most teachers what they do to help these few kids and you will get a long laundry list of helpful strategies and accomodations they use. Some are bad, no doubt. Just like the real world. However, it doesn't take much to talk to kids about real issues. Especially at the high school level, they are able to understand them but most people don't move beyond the obvious and actually talk about them. Thus the inappropriate reaction of the kids in school (black and white alike).

        • Posted By: No I see the real you @ 11/05/2008 8:01:07 PM

Okay............ I was totally not going to comment on this thread and just read through the comments to get a feel of everyones thoughts on Obama being elected. I HAD to respond to this comments though.
I have two children my older is thirteen and recently has changed schools. At the last school, she never had homework and there were never any special projects i.e science projects, book essays. I was recieving phone calls on a daily basis that my child was a behavioral problem. My child was recieving C's and D's when before she was a straight A student. New school she has homework on a nightly basis and in a month has already done four special projects, she is once again a straight A student and I have not recieved One phone call about behavior. I also work with teenagers and, have only had problems getting one or two , to work in my ten year period in this job.

SO IMO, I do not believe even as a teacher , you can say children will be our downfall. It is adults like you who take a job that is complex and very involved and just want it to be a regular job. The teachers and the school were failing my child at the first school, they told her she was a problem so she became one.

          • Posted By: iseetherealyou @ 11/05/2008 9:14:31 PM

I'm so glad your child is getting a good education. A supportive district, parent, and high educational standards are who and what you can thank for that. You are among the lucky few but still have a narrow viewpoint. All the problems your child had were blamed on the teachers and school failing your child. Why was the school failing your child? You say the teachers don't want to be good at their jobs. Again, a very narrow viewpoint. I would like to have a situation like yours where I could hold those high standards and not face the wrath of lazy parents, lazy kids, and lazy administrators who believe lower standards are the key to making a school successful because no one complains. Yes, our kids will be our downfall. I spoke a truth people like you don't want to hear. Lower educational standards = inability to compete globally = America Tanks. Plain and simple. I know you don't want to hear that you and your child have some responsbility in that but it doesn't change the facts.
By the way, if I simply wanted a complex job to be a regular job as you assume, why would I advocate higher standards? What I want is to be able to raise my standards to the ones your child now has. Seems we are after the same things. Also, how were you able to remedy the situation by changing schools? (private school, moved districts, etc). Some folks don't have those choices and must stay where the standards are low.
However, the strand was about how people at home refuse to speak to their teenagers intelligently about the election. It was about how our kids are so neglected intellectually and emotionally that they are not even capable of having an intelligent debate about this historic election. We as adults, have created a generation of slackers (of course that is general and there will be exceptions). So yes, our children will be our downfall because we refuse to hold them to a higher standard.

This is true. The ignorance begins in the curriculum of our shools and the follow up of morals and principle.God does indeed have a hand in all of this. It's called conscience. It's what we need to listen to and react upon with our friends and neighbors in our own community.Regardless of the election outcome the end result is what is taught at home and in our schools and judging by the incredible shortsidedness and narrowmindness of these ridiculous comments, some of us did not graduate the second grade spiritually or emotionally. The general poulus and not the media still can help direct the course of this nation.Bigotry, racism and narrowmindedness have no place in the Christian World as it is so perceived.Once people embrace this, the correct couse can begin, under the influence of God,regardless of which religion you subscribe to.Despite what you may believe...in the end you will find out that you are just the same as everyone else...regardless of race, color or creed..Lets just hope that man's undoing is not that we realize it too late..We can only hope and pray.

to captain 8: you contridicted your own argument when you said, "I don't care what any of you say, I think military service is almost a must to serve as president!". President-elect Obama must be one of those "almost a must" people you are talking about. While I do agree with your statement about action needing to be taken for the events of September 11th, I feel that the wrong actions were taken. What would you say to the families of all who have died for our country when clearly very little headway has been made?

    • Posted By: captainn8 @ 11/05/2008 9:10:57 PM

Kengo, Americans as a whole needs to enlighten themselves with what is really going on over there. You may think very little headway has been made, I couldn't disagree more! It is by no means a good thing that people have died for the cause, I am blessed enough to have come home safely from an 11 month tour. But I do certainly believe this war has a purpose worth fighting for.
