How He Did It

I agree independentmind. He is a smooth talker, but that is all. I am definatly afraid for this Country as should we all be. Americans wanted change, but this isn't the kind of change we need.

I'm afraid for what America might look like in four years. There are a lot of nice speeches in this man, but not much else from what I can see. High ideals and no real progress. I guess we will watch and see.

I think America has been blessed! We have made history, and at the same time, found an intelligent and articulate person to make changes in our government. I think every American has the responsibility, to not jump at any judgements. The only way changes can happen, is if we can open our minds and our hearts, and stand behind our new President. God bless The United States of America, and Mr. Obama .

Amaxing to me that the one thing that comes up first is color...why is it that in most "bright" nieghborhoods outter appearance is the first order of the day. I'm sure that when you got to the gas station you didn't stop to think well...is the gas...darker or lighter...you needed it so you pay up the whazoo for it, because like the rest of us you had to get your highty tighty self to work too. When you went to the supermarket you didn't sort through the tomatoes and not buy the ones that were picked by the latino that illegally crossed the borders, you were just happy to get it and that it wasn't you who had to sweat, be sunburned, and breathe in the pesticides for a dollar and hour to get it to your "bright" neigherhood to have in your salad...
So please get down the soapbox of JESUS for sale and know that he came to this earth -himself-no need for messengars to preach his teachings-how then do you think that you can BETTER explain his ideas...have you forgotten you are a child of god, not GOD!

latina1976, I have bi-racial children also, and I think this election helps them understand that anyone can do what ever they put their mind, heart, and souls to do. The world will not function without conflict, it was written, but some people take it to the extreme. Nice comment

Senator (now President-Elect) Obama ran a campaign based solely on style over substance. Vague promises of "Change" and the media's infatuation with "making history" put him in the Oval Office. While I hold out some hope that President-Elect Obama is more than just an "empty suit" and truly can deliver non-partisan, unifying leadership to this country in a time of numerous foreign and domestic crises, I have my doubts.

Reading over the many points of view I must take the moment to remind those who will disagree that it is your point of view that you are entilted to, however you aren't entitled to judge mine, just disagree.

Many people have gotten stuck on the "race" aspect of this election, and I must say that it did have it's significance. But must I remind those of you over educated and undereducated the simpliest rule of life "survival of the strongest", it was Darwin who was able to make clear for those less scientific that mo matter what happens in nature only those who adapt, flexible, and strong survive. Evalution is not only in the form of physical changes but at the deepest of roots which is mental. Get over the outter appearance, that i shallow and narrow minded.
For those of you who are material istic can you associate this with a new model of car...every five years a new honda, cadillac or Mercedes is lauched. The manufactuters keep what works, improve on what doesn't and add what we as a general consumer want and need.
Dare you to make comprasion to the politics of yesterday? "They" are a dying generation. As far as I know there is yet to come about a techonology to keep any man living forever. Our pasth as Americans isn't craved by one man's ideals, as the minorities, the sexes, the lifestyles, the ages, the races, the peoiple showed we are one America and we have a majority that agrees Obama can do the majority he has set before himself. It is a fool to believe that all proposed plans will come to fruition. Hell I'll be happy if he gets the balling roolling in the right direction, no one man is guaranteed tomorrow but it is that one man will never forget; Martin Luther King, the Kennedy's, Ghandi, and many others. Not for waht they promised not for every little action they took, but for the HUMAN they were.

Each generation has it's dreams, needs and is moving forward to become the leaders regardless of what we have in minds the future should be. That we only be determined by the obstacles they will face to achieve those dreams, to satisfy those needs and to keep moving forward.
So please spare me the rhetorics of what an "ideal" politician should have done, not done , been or be. Just let it be simple "respect" that Obama has proven himself to be a great leader, that he has managed to keep his campaign organized, and on track with the initial agenda he proposed, now if that isn't the kind of person you want looking out for your interest, your family, your city, county, state, country or world then what planet are you on?
Mind you I'm a first generation immigrant, froma small country in Central America, and it is the very same ignorant, hateful, hypocritical, anti human attiutudes which you claim only the muslims have that got so many of my fellow country men and women killed-why would I want to vote for a man whos politics are more inline with you than me?

My post was bush hater David Letterman not me and I sent it in three parts. But yes I think president Bush
did a good job in office. He told us what he was going to do and he did it. When the Iraq war started 90% or Americans supported it. It then became political fodder for the democrats and theie supporting media media. Soon every democrat who voted for the war didn't or if they did they didn't think we were going to war. One US soldier killed is too many but keep in mind that 16000 Americans are murdered in our country every year with little outrage. That equates to 96000 murders to 4000 war fatalities over the same time period. Bush did well after 9/11 brought us out the recessio n when he took office and has worked hard to try and fix the mess we are in now. He has been assaulted on every front but stood his ground for beliefs whether it was popular or not. I hear many talk about the war costing 10 billion a month. That figure is misleading because the soldiers would still be in teh armed forces getting paid using weapons and equipment, being fed etc... The real cost of the war has been in human life and re-supply all other costs would have to b e paid any way.

This is a wonderful piece of unbiased journalism. I look forward to reading the following parts. I hope to President-Elect Barack Obama and ourselves the best of luck in the forthcoming years. Perhaps this is our opportunity to "CHANGE" our country and our world for the better.

OMG - some of you people scare me. It's a shame that in a country as wonderful as the United States there is so much negativity, bias, racism and lies - all being given under the guise of Christianity and patriotism. But then, what can I expect from a country that has become accustomed to lies and deceit from a man who has driven our country so far into the gutter. Of course things won't be fixed overnight, but things will never be fixed if we all don't give our support and faith to the elected officials. I don't know why I read these comments - it just frustrates me so much to read so much ignorance from people who read lies and continue to spew them ... remember the child's game when someone whispers something to someone and it gets passed along and gets changed over and over and over? this is what has been happening and continues to happen. Please, let everyone just believe in the greatness of our country and our people and work together to make it better!

I voted McCain, but I wish Obama the best. My only concern is for my employer and my job when they kick in the tax increases and start cutting the tax incentives. With the economy the way it is, they are bending over backwards to keep the dozen or so of us not laid off working as it is..

Gl;ory to God who has delivered when we asked in prayer for change. Excuses are like people's butts, everybody has one, and you know what...It STINKS !!!
