Why is every republican crying? You had your race and YOU LOST!!! End of the BS in this country. Why is this so hard to believe? Can't wrap your brains around it, either get over it, or SHUT UP. I voted for who I thought could actually unite this country. If you want to hate go to Drudge report, you have been shoving lies down everyone's throat for months. So (raspberry)......, now go read your bible and pray. Thinking people are in charge for once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You sound like a liberal...full of hate. Race is not the issue, it is his platform. Look at Illinois...he couldn't help there with the high unemployment and high murder rate, how in the heck is he going to run a country? I am well aware that anything that doesn't go right in his presidency will automatically be blamed on the "Bush Administration" but the last 2 years have been the worst! I believe it because we had way too many Democrats in the House and Senate and now there is more. You wait and see! Your glass house will come down...HARD!!! And for those who actually voted for Obama...ARE THE ONES TO BLAME IN THE NEXT 4 YRS.
Question...Does this mean we'll have to call the White House the "BLACK HOUSE"? just kidding!
From a proud American who will support our leader. I just hope he will keep his "promises" and not just said them to get elected.

Zansue, you are awesome. It's so refreshing to hear a staunch conservative speak out in the name of civility. I know there are many, many people like you--I work with them and count many as friends--but so many people think that the loudest most obnoxious voices represent everyone. I'm a Democrat, but I've frankly been tired of defending 'civil, smart conservatives' for the last year. You make me feel vindicated...and more motivated to keep 'outrageous' people in my own party in check. Many thanks.

    Zansue:

Thank you. You are proof that is it dangerous to equate the term "conservative" and "right-fringe wingnut." Unforunately the wingnuts have hijacked the honorable term "conservative" just as the wingnut on the far left fringe had created problems for those of us who consider ourselves "liberals." True conservatives and true liberals have always been able to find a a mutually acceptable middle ground without having to resort to outrageous incivility. Your comment to "skynet69" restores my faith in the idea that there still are reasonable people on the right. People with who we reasonable people on the left can have a productive conversation. Thank you.

skynet69~ your comment is outrageous! Could you be any more offensive? I did not vote for Obama, I happen to be a very conservative person and have sooo many issues with this election. However, I am not a moron and do not make slandering comments like yours. Get a clue jerk, it is people like you that make 99.9% of the rest of this country have to fight the racial card today. Go dig yourself a hole!

Lighten up dude! It's just a joke I heard from "just a guy in my neighborhood".

I'm a 25-year-old black woman and I know we are writing some of the most powerful moments in history right now. After reading this I have a growing appreciation and respect for Obama and his campaign beginnings. Thank you to whomever wrote this article.

Politics is a game and we just heard the whistle at the end of the game. Harsh criticism is not going to change the outcome. It's time to move on and get ready for the next game. Christians who are disappointed can take comfort that the heart of the king is in the hand of God like a river is controlled by the banks. It's certainly not helpful to ignore the vote.

Obama has a big problem now, he's going to have to deal with an economy that is probably going to get worse. We all have created this economy and it will only be by God's grace that we are able to recover from too many loans, too much greed on Wall Street, and too little saving by each of us. Don't blame a man for the sins we've committed together as a nation.

was there any real doubt he was going to be elected? I mean come on people...I think it is great that people can look past race or minority status that is truly great...a great day for America...Now I would expect all of the excuses be laid to rest as well no more race card to play...Jessie Jackson and fellow haters will have to come up with new material because it is all BS now and let's face it it has been for years but no-one would admit it...Now we can look past the racial profiling BS and see all people as one people no excuses about how one or another has been held down or persecuted because of skin color etc...No more excuses

To be clear, I did not vote for Obama and I've been a critic of him. BUT I did all the research I could and discovered that he is NOT a Muslim, he is Christian, he was sworn in WITH a BIBLE, and he DOES recite the Pledge. Do your homework, people, and stop being so dramatic...

    • Posted By: garyneavada @ 11/05/2008 6:26:31 PM

i did,nt vote for oboma either and every one is right about one thing exon/moble has gotten away with high way robery for many years now and maybe its time they get hit in the pocket book for a while i am very depressed that oboma won the election but who knows there is that chance he just might prove to be a verry good pres. i say lets get over our disapointment and give the man the chance to show us what he,s made of one will never know unless we see it for our selves..

  • Posted By: tjdrjwmykids @ 11/05/2008 6:19:21 PM

For all you fellow people who didn't vote Obama- what can we do about it now?? Let's stop being negative and try supporting him now that he will be our leader. Ever heard of optimism? I think we're capable of it. However, catbuns1978, I think I will go read my bible and pray- and you should too...that you can stop being so hateful.

  • Posted By: schlagdog @ 11/05/2008 6:14:41 PM

Was there any question that he would win? With biased media coverage etc... I cannot see how anyone can blame MCaine only and not Obama for the econnmic crisis??? Weren't they both senators?Obama's home state Illinios high jobless rates, high murder rates, inflation etc... Lucky Biden is there to handle foreign policy is all I have to say...It is great to see that people can finally look past color or minority status...that is truly great Now let's see if the rest of the so called oppressed people can do their part in this country ...we know it can be done maybe Jessie Jackson and the other drum beaters crying racism will finally realize that card cannot be used as an excuse for bailing out criminals anymore

tvasq you are the type of person that terrorists feed on you ingnorance is the type of thing the use to keep people in fear. It must kill you to know that our country is going to be led into greatness by hope and not fear

I've only read the first paragraph and already I'm annoyed. Making as though he referred to himself in the third person (when really it's you who are doing so), a Harvard prize of "overachievment" rather than simply achievement; a reference to the ever popular concept of political correctness; and words like strident and grasping. Could you be any more passive aggressively hostile?

This must be an example of that "liberal media bias" I'm always hearing about. And yes, that was "sarcasm." You might even call it "strident sarcasm."

Seriously, Newsweek, this is rotten on the first day after the election that left so many people full of hope ... and others full of anxiety or flat out rage. Pick one, if you must, put snarky on a day like today is just gross.

  • Posted By: tvasq @ 11/05/2008 6:01:01 PM

Jadenpooh what is his real name?? OSAMA bin Laden ha ha on you The terrorists slipped into our country and blew up the twin towers and now they fooled us again by fooling us into electing one of their own into the most powerful office...go figure America !! There goes the nation!!

Echo of Obama: Hearing what he's not saying.
Had my skin were white in color, as my blood are, then would my white brothers and sisters accept me as one of them? Although; My skin are black, my heart are both. Feeling the pain and suffering of both side of me, i am reaching out to the most deepest. No dougt it does'nt hurt to set aside the least wounded, to help relieve some of the pain inside. As of now both side aches tremendously; Because, some cant see, that the only healing will come, when both side come together, to fight the source of our pains.
White side= We are use to getting what we want ,when we want it, without little or no ressittance. We take pride in been a leader.
Black side= Been forced to accept your world, ideals, and way of life. How could I be blamed for your feeling, of unacceptance of me. We take pride in beening very competative.

Can you write? Is your illiteracy real or put on?

As we all know the congress controls much of the current policies and the democrats are leading the way especially with both home and over seas affairs. Some of the most knowledgable economists/foreign affair specialists did not and could not have known what has happened. A Monday morning quarterback concept would make all of our lives alot easier. Everyone feels a need to change has prompted the change but my heart has me concerned with our choices. Whether we want left of right or middle of the road I was alarmed in a store today where 2 women were taking of different color than myself (trying to be politically correct) and the speading the wealth concept and "about time we got one of ours in the office to help us!" I live in a rural farming community and where has our countries pride and how we stood together esp with 9/11.

Last night we all witnessed what makes America great. Seeing our country come together and crossing the final color line and taking down the last whites only sign in our country and erasing the image of prejudice that stained our nation for the last 200+ years. It was the promise of change and the message of hope that brought Americans of all colors and creeds together to say we are not a nation of arrogance, greed, violence and prejudice we are nation of hope and tolerance a nation that shows the world that all things are possible no matter who you are or where you???re from. We are a nation that believes in the massage of hope and that it can unite a nation no matter what our differences that we can stand together and say we are one and that there has never been anything false about believing in hope. As we stand together as one voice and say we believe in hope we believe that the American dream lives in all of us that our trials and tribulation are what brings us together no matter what race or faith we are one nation.
So no matter if you are a Democrat or Republican voted McCain or Obama you are an American and we are all one nation under GOD. It is time to come together and be that beacon of hope around the world with that same message of hope that has taken us to the next era of greatness.

"Together we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with 3 words that will ring from coast to coast and sea to shining sea YES WE CAN"
