In fact, Obama is NOT black, not an Afro-American, he???s an ARAB-American! He???s 50% white (mother was 100%), 44% arab (father was 88%), and 6% black (father was 12%)! Does that sound like black to you? If he was 1% less white, and 1% Irish, in addition to being arabic and black, would you say that he was Irish? His father officially listed himself as arab, Obama???s full name is arabic. Even if Obama should be elected (God forbid), he will still not be the first ???black President???, because he isn???t BLACK! All this is is race-pandering, the democrats trying to get all the blacks to vote for Obama by declaring him to be the ???first black
candidate with a chance to be elected President!??? Basically, they are
lying to everybody to take advantage of the ignorant (not unusual for
democrats), and you???re buying it! If you don???t believe it, why don???t
you ask Obama to deny it in public?

Help! Down here in Beaufort SC, the 11/17/2008 issue is not avaialble on any newsstand, and has not yet been distributed. TIME's issue has been out and on the stands since yesterday. All that is here is a skimpy commemmorative issue on only Obama, for $7.95. No thanks!

This is Newsweek's best issue, EVER. It was utterly fascinating, and I couldn't put it down. I learned so much about the "behind the scenes" activities that wouldn't have been possible without your "embedded" reporters who abstained from publishing any of their material until the election was over. These were riveting, fascinating portraits of all the key players. I'd felt animosity for McCain during this election, and was sorely disappointed in his erratic behavior. Though I was for Obama all along, I once respected McCain a great deal. After reading this historic piece, I feel no animosity. Sadly, I pity him. I thought it was appalling that Hillary Clinton refused to shake Obama's hand in the Senate after he announced, but I also see, through this in-depth reporting, that she wasn't the nearly evil force I'd felt her to be. Kudos to all involved in this stunningly well done project; it should be expanded into a book. Thank you, T.N.

I bought the 'Obama Elected' issue - I was particularly interested in the major story, HOW HE DID IT. Now, I have to ask you - why only a passing mention of the tremendously important 3rd Debate? And why NO MENTION of the special 30-minute election "infomercial" a week before the election? Absolutely, Positively these were VERY IMPORTANT in the election towards the end. BUT PRACTICALLY NOTHING IS WRITTEN ABOUT THESE IN THE 'HOW HE DID IT' STORY. My question to the writers, contributors, and editors of NEWSWEEK - how in the heck did you miss that?? How did you drop this ball?? As excellent as most of the story was - your missing/deleting these things is nothing but shoddy journalism. Next time, I will pick up a copy of TIME for the "Full Story" of something. This was just shoddy journalism on your part. OR - did some moron cut the story - without even realizing the importance of the election sequences he/she was dropping? Sheeze. Just plain bad journalism. If I had presented this story to my journalism class at UCLA, they be laughing at the "holes big enough for a truck to drive through." You should appolgize for such giant goof/deletions. Do Better!!!

Don't let Obama or anyone else tell you "We'd like to have single payer national healthcare, an national infrastructure enhancement project emloying millions in good paying jobs, etc. etc. but we don't have the money."
$10 trillion... that's what Obama could borrow in his first term, and end up making us all better off than we were when he arrived at the White House.

G. W. Bush is (to quite some extent unfairly) unpopular outside the US. This has made it easy for Barack Obama to by contrast enjoy a positive image, as people often react subjectively. This should not obfuscate the actual advantages he represents by his announced action intentions when president, even if the change will seem slow to some who feel things should occur quickly. Why do Newsweek and others in the media call McCain a "fighter jock"? He flew attack planes, not fighter planes. His widely known biography confirms this. My personal knowledge of this was as a shipmate of McCain's aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise in the early 1960's.

HOW HE DID IT? - why the puzzling question & irrelevant explanations. The answer is simple - because the Bush administration screwed up not only the nation but the world as a whole. Obama is a politician like any other. He was privileged to run, he did, he won, so let it be.

The Dem's put out a highly educated smart strong ticket this time. The GOP???s McCain had no plan and Palin had no clue. The country is in such bad shape financially, morally, and image wise it had to change. The sorry state of this nation???s money has finally hit the burbs and rural America. It's no longer just the poor huddled masses in the urban centers. We have allowed almost the entire manufacturing base to be moved to third world countries, often with accompanying tax breaks to the companies selling out working class America. But now outsourcing is in the process of decimating the American dream for middle and upper-middles class America. It finally got so bad that white America was willing to overcome whatever prejudices and fears they had at least temporarily. When your job has been outsourced, when your car now belongs to the repo man, and you are living with your in-laws because your ARM adjusted up so high that you can't pay. "GREEN TRUMPS BLACK", at least for a while.
