Sharenews.. You have become even sillier since Pres. Obama's win.
What will Joe teach us? All about plumbing?

      • Posted By: sharenews @ 11/10/2008 1:07:42 AM

Hi Pia. . .LOL. Funny you say that. . . I would not be surprised if JTP comes out with a series of plumbing books for e.g. do-it-yourself bathroom projects. . . in addition to his book about securing American dreams. I do not believe the book would be bashing Obama or anything of that nature . . More like stirring up people to get more involved in government issues - ways to get your voices heard, etc. He actually seemed like a good guy and well spoken on Huckabees show a few times. I think Obama supporters hold it against him for asking a question that brought out Obamas taxation plan to the degree it did.. . and triggered a statement about redistribution of wealth from Obama that he wished he could have taken back cuz McCain ran with that JTP theme, for sure.

All in all, I am hoping for the best that Obama surrounds himself with lots of sound advisers. I do think he is a smart man. . . and that he will be a calm man in the middle of a crisis. At least I hope so cuz this country is in a lot of hurting.

        • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/10/2008 12:07:25 PM

Oh how nice you are wishing Obama well now...thanks. But this endorsement of yours of Joe the Plumber on a political web site is one of the silliest posts of anyone I have ever seen. Geez.........

  • Posted By: kas_wolf @ 11/12/2008 12:59:25 PM

Pia - "Obama won because he ran an exceptional camp and he had a message.."

That is true. The only problem is this - Obama connected with people and let them commiserate on their hard times. What we need is for him to empower people to know they can succeed because of the power of America and the capability of its people to reach the American Dream. Not a pity party of how bad someone has it - and a governmental hand out to make up that inequality.

    Work for your own dream.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/12/2008 2:35:28 PM

Wow, you really didn't listen to any of his speeches did you? He consistently talks about hard work, unity, and attaining the American dream. I don't think you can tell Obama or Michelle that you need to work hard to reach your goals--they are living proof. In fact, in one of his speeches he addressed young black men and said they aren't gonna be the next rapper or sports star and they need to focus on education and taking care of their responsibilities. Obama is definitely not for handouts. He wants us to speak frankly and openly about racial, ethnic, gender, and class discrimination and work toward a solution. That's not commiseration, that's just being honest about the problems we face. There are some very real problems in America and we can't solve them if we sweep them under the rug.

      • Posted By: kas_wolf @ 11/12/2008 5:08:59 PM

No he doesn't. He talks about how "you can't get ahead because the system is stacked against you..." His wife talks about how she shouldn't be where she is.... All this crap about being held back is a crock. Work hard and succeed. No handouts. That has NOT been Obama's message.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/12/2008 3:08:54 PM

Thank you summer. This is what I meant by my comment. Everything you say is Obama's message.
Good to read you as always.

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/12/2008 3:06:23 PM

As clear as it was, obviously you did not understand my comment.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/12/2008 3:14:25 PM

PS We are not a pity party! We are proud and strong and are focused on success which we will attain with Pres. Obama's help. The loser's party is the pity party and they prove it daily with their bitterness.

Obama won the election. People do win the election just as opeople do loose the election. People won't really be able to really discuss the issues. The only thing they can do is to praise the winning of the election. I've no problem with his winning of the election. But I'm not going to jpoin the wagon train and start praising the winning of election by saying that he was brilliant. People wanted him to win the election. They gave him unprecented amount of momey that not even Bush or Clinton was able to raise. Actually he did not even need all that money. Young people made sure that he'd win the election. In the election lines there were young girls standing in the line of voters. They were carrying Obama Buttons showing who they were going to vote. I saw not one McCain Button. What brilliancu Obama need to Win the ellection. Young girls were standing in like on his behalf. I'm not talking about white girls. I'm talking about white girls in white areas. People are Blaiming Sarah Palin for causing McCain to loose the election. Actually it was very foolish of Governor Sarah Palin to agree to join the McCain Ticket to oppose Obama. People wanted Obama to win. They wanted the Dream of Martin Luther King to come to be realized. There was nothing like the Brilliancy of Obama in the Election. This is not to say that Obama is Brilliant. He probably is brilliant. But I do not think any Brilliancy was needed.

Hey, mnewco? Remember that little thing called "separation of church and state"? Yeah... try omitting your beliefs from the Bible and God when judging political actions. Religion and politics have no business playing hand-in-hand in our government. Not everyone is a Christian, genius. Also, try a little respect and you MAY just come off a wee bit smarter (or at least respectable yourself), instead of the freakshow ignoramus you made yourself sound like.

    • Posted By: kas_wolf @ 11/12/2008 5:31:00 PM

There is no such thing as "Separation of Church and State". The first amendment clauses regarding religion are one: Establishment - the government will not establish a "state mandated religion" and two: Exercise: you have the ability to exercise your freedom to practice your religion as chosen without enfringement.

No where does it say anything about not being able to mention your faith. THAT is a liberal false concept enacted to force faith out of towns - and THAT is unconstitutional enfringement.
The phrase liberals desperately refer to is one that was written in a private letter - not a Foundation Document.

The article reads: "But then Obama got carried away with himself and violated a cardinal rule of braggadocio in the black community: don't get too high and mighty. ... "Everybody already knows me!" A lone shout went up from the audience.
"I already sold a lot of books! I don't need to run for president to get on television or on the radio ???" Silence.
"I've been on Oprah!" That seemed to get the crowd back, but Obama knew he had almost lost them altogether.'

I think the writer missed the point of what Obama was saying. What I hear him doing is defining WHY he's running. It's not about a man who wants his 15 minutes of fame -- he's already got that. He's written books, been on Oprah (the apex of success for many) and everyone knows him. I don't believe these examples weren't random -- they were chosen to make the point that he wasn't running for fame.

He had fame. He was running for a host of reasons that he's articulated well and repeatedly.
I don't know if he lost the crowd at the church, but he clearly lost the writer.

I'll tell you "how he did it"! He did not do anything! His skin color won him this election! That's it! If this mans skin color was all white, because lets not forget he is the first BI-RACIAL President, not the first african american. Lets state the fact. But my point is that if he was all white we would have a different president!! The color of his skin had black people voting for the first time, for one reason only! They voted for a "black" man they didn't even know!! FACT!!

    • Posted By: Doc Howl @ 11/12/2008 9:26:16 AM

      It's over. Obama won.

      Deal with it.

If the blacks came out of the wood work to vote for a 1/2 black man, why the white did come out to vote for 100% white man? I cann't fix STUPID

          • Posted By: rockytaz @ 11/06/2008 10:28:29 PM

Really?? That's why when they had MANY interviews asking African Americans why they were voting for Obama they did not have an answer!! Do you think they watched any debates? Knew anything about his policies? I can answer that. NO! If Donald Duck was black, he woud be the next president! Say what you want, the truth hurts and thats a fact!!

            • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/06/2008 10:52:07 PM

The truth hurts you. Obama won...be a man.. accept it and move on. And please, for your own sake, don't go out in public and make stupid comments such as these...you will be laughed at.

    • Posted By: tphelps @ 11/07/2008 10:04:16 AM

Your a angry Idiot! and it shows in your comments. Clearly you do not know what you are talking about and what it means to be black in this country. Being black in this country is not a advantage that black people have to live with through it is a stereotype and racism that black people have to overcome daily. If Obama was white this race would have been over a long time ago and even more Republics would have voted for him.

    • Posted By: buttermilkwaffle @ 11/07/2008 6:52:20 AM

By your logic, since I'm white and voted for Barack ,I only got half a vote. I just voted for Obama's white half. Oh well, he still won. FACT!!

      • Posted By: 4carol @ 11/07/2008 9:14:35 AM

He won, Rockytaz, fair and square. Give it a chance and let it go; the man just may do the country some good!!~!

Barack Obama was destined to be the president of USA the moment he was conceived in his mother???s womb. He has God gifted intellect and immense maturity and clarity of mind and thought that is a rare thing found in politicians. Often, this breed is known for proclivity for deceit, greed, duplicity and lying to the electorate but Obama has shown propensity to honesty and decency.

If I am not wrong or mistaken, a very unique thing happened throughout America: it never rained; the skies were clear; there were no tornadoes, twisters or storms reported and it did not snow in any part of the USA. Even the gods were pleased with Barack Obama so that his supporters turned out in hordes to vote for their messiah. Now, it is up to him: to make it or break it.

    • Posted By: KennySpeakingtheTruth @ 11/07/2008 10:39:10 AM

Yeah, that's why the market fell close to 500 points. You are obviously a fool. Obama pleasing God? Yea I'm sure God was pleased when Obama broke the commandment "Thou shall not lie' Oh yeah and the commandment "Thou shall not kill" when he passed legislation allowing for murder of infants who survived assasination attempts (abortion). Obama won because he pleased the fools. It's official there are now more fools than sane people in America. Good luck with your LIAR and MURDERER president.

Awesome comment. Obama ran a masterful campaign, and I have high hopes for his presidency. It did rain a bit here in NC, but I went out to vote for my "messiah" anyway. Glad someone in this thread still has a sense of humor, btw.

My God. I'm 63 years old. I saw Kennedy wit Kruschev in Iowa where I live. I've seen Reagan and Clinton. I am in awe of these folks who come to little old Iowa to see us. However, I have never witnessed anything like the rally I attended in Iowa for Barack Obama.
Now I have to tell you what a great read your last magazine was. The whole thing. How moving, how inspiring, how uplifting. I read, I studied, I was elated and I cried. I read about all the reporters, authors, editors, et al and I love and respect everyone of them for their hard work and dedication.
I just want to say thank you and I hope every classroom in the world has a few copies of this edition of Newsweek to be studied and lovingly read.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I believe that Barack Obama besides gifted with exorbitant intellect, clarity of thought and mind, maturity of youthful wisdom also has a sex appeal that fascinates young women that attracts them to him. He is slim, tall, dark and handsome and that is good enough reason for many young ladies fancying sharing a bed with him and voting for him.

Oestrogen hormone is considered to be a mediator of beauty and sex in the females and the higher it is, they are easily swayed with the sex appeal of a man they find attractive and I believe that this mediating hormone obliged them to vote for Barack Obama on the 4 November 2008. It is something that Michelle Obama will have to keep a sharp eye.

As a Democrat who enthusiastically voted for Barack Obama I believe it would be a huge mistake to misread the election results as a mandate to take the country liberal. The United States clearly is a moderate, middle of the road country in terms of its politics and if the new administration pushes too far to the left there will be a backlash which will cause the Democrats to lose big time in the next Congressional elections.

This election was a vote against Bush/Cheney, the Iraq War, torture, the response to Hurricane Katrina, and Sarah Palin. If John McCain had ran a better campaign and chosen a qualified running mate the results would have been much, much closer, and that is not a mandate to take the country liberal.

When a liberal State like California that votes 70% for Obama also votes to overturn gay marriage this should give the left wing pause as to how far they can push the country. What Americans want from Obama is the economy restored, the healthcare system restructured to benefit everyone fairly, the environment a priority, etc. The American people are middle of the road on social issues and misreading the election will cost the Democrats dearly next time.

" As a Democrat who enthusiastically voted for Barack Obama I believe it would be a huge mistake to misread the election results as a mandate to take the country liberal."

Obama can move us left a great deal before the country is liberal.

      Just saying.

Thank you for being one of the voices of reason in this blog. I voted for McCain - not enthusiastically, but because I like his stand on many issues. I do believe that palin would have been successful as a VP due to her executive experience, but she would not have been my top pick
As I've mentioned elsewhere in this chain, I do wish Obama well and I hope that we as a country move past the division that occurred in this campaign and work to restore this country to a land we can all be proud of.
The one thing I can't quite get my hands around is everyone saying that America elected it's first black President. I think it would be better said that we voted for our first biracial President. Perhaps this is a sign that we as a people (black, white, hispanic, etc) can all come together.

We are getting a clearer picture of Obama each day, especially in the foreign policy arena. It points to arrogance, weakness, and dishonesty:

Obama met with Iraq's Maliki in July 2008 and began or tried to negotiate with him BEFORE he was president.

In July 2008, at the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, OBAMA TRIED TO CONVINCE IRAQI LEADERS IN PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS THAT THE CURRENT PRESIDENT, GEORGE W. BUSH, SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO ENACT THE DEAL WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL.

A few weeks before the Nov. 4 election Obama threw conservative reporters off of his plane.

In October 2008 VP candidate Joe Biden predicted an international crisis would be staged in 2009 to test Obama after he became president, and predicted that people in the U.S. would not like the way Obama handles it. FIRST TIME IN KNOWN HISTORY THAT A VP CANDIDATE HAS MADE SUCH A PREDICTION ABOUT HIS PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE.

On Nov. 8, 2008, President-elect Barack Obama's private conversation with Poland's president created an international disagreement, with President Lech Kaczynski saying Obama promised to continue a missile-defense system and the transition office saying the Democrat made no such commitment.

Pres Elect Obama did not knock on JTP's door. He was in the neighborhood and JTP went up to him.

Nobody cared about JTP until AFTER Sen. McCain mentioned him 21 times in the final debate. After hearing about this "Joe The Plumber" everyone was curious to find out who he was.

JTP's life was not "torn apart". This information released was a part of public records. Nobody dug in his trash. Good or bad, this is what happens today in the world of 24 hour media, Internet, etc.

JTP was on every station giving interviews, giving stump speeches at McCain/Palin rallies, giving his opinion of the candidates. He put himself out there and was loving every minute of it!

He represented himself as someone who would be negatively affected by Pres Elect Obama's tax plan when the opposite was true.

JTP asked a question and he got his answer. The problem was that his question was not based on reality. It was a hypothetical that did not even apply to his present circumstances yet the McCain/Palin ticket tried to use him against Sen. Obama. Problem was (just like with Gov Palin) it only worked with "the base". Everyone did else did not fall for it.

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 11/10/2008 12:01:22 AM

You say: This information released was a part of public records. NOBODY DUG IN HIS TRASH..

I say: ????????????????????? You are kidding me, right?

As soon as Joe asked his question (which was to get an answer on taxation should he buy a small business) - which triggered a remark Obama was soon to regret (I think spreading the wealth around is good for everybody) - and which McCain jumped on immediately - the Obama camp went into a venomous attack to discredit this US citizen.

      The Columbus Dispatch
Checks on Joe more extensive than first acknowledged
Tax, welfare info also sought on McCain ally
      Wednesday, October 29, 2008 8:05 PM
      By Randy Ludlow

A state agency has revealed that its checks of computer systems for potential information on Joe the Plumber were more extensive than it first acknowledged.

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.

The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.
Jones-Kelley made the revelations in a letter to Ohio Senate President Bill M. Harris, R-Ashland, who demanded answers on why state officials checked out Wurzelbacher.
Harris called the multiple records checks "questionable" and said he awaits more answers. "It's kind of like Big Brother is looking in your pocket," he said.

Nobody cared? You're right... if you discount close to half of America. If "nobody cared", it would have been forgotten instantly.

And the question Joe asked wasn't based on reality? LMAO! Of course it was! The answer Obama gave is what raised the roof, not Joe's question. Yes, the left (who else?) actually investigated this guy so that, like you, they could discredit him in some way to take the focus off of Obama's "take from those who have earned it, and give it to those who have not" liberal answer.

      Transparent, at the very least.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/09/2008 10:49:07 AM

Well, hello Vypurr.... , how areyou? Always good to read you even if I have to disagree. Joe actually came out and admitted that Obama's tax plan was better for his business than McCain's.

          Hey Pia, thanks...

I saw that, he did admit on GMA that if Obama carries through with his tax plan, at the money he is currently earning Obama's plan would be better for him. The question he asked Obama though pertained to him someday buying or starting a company and making much more money. He was right both ways.

          • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/09/2008 12:24:48 PM

Hi V...Obama was right both ways?

So, been flying lately? Do you fly alone?

            • Posted By: Vypurr @ 11/09/2008 1:06:16 PM

Lol... no, JTP was right both ways. If he remains an employee for the company he works for, Obama's tax plan, if he carries through with it as it's designed, will be better for him. If he were to buy the company he works for or start his own, which is what he indicated in his original question to Obama, he would be more heavily taxed due to much higher income.

I go out this evening.... and there's always two in the cockpit!

You fly at night then... sounds adventurous, exciting and a bit scary! Two in the cockpit for safety or for company? I live a half hour away from McGuire Air Force and I am used to the planes flying above my town late at night.

You're welcome... It will be interesting to see how all of this tax thing unravels.

Most light jets are certified for two pilot operation for workload/safety reasons. (Insurance carriers wouldn't have it any other way!) No mystery to night flying... it's the severe weather we avoid.

Btw, for once Obama and I are in complete agreement: Being an Obama fan, you'll like it.

Hello Vypurr! The Obama youtube video is very cute and funny and I agree! Thank you. May I give you un bacio? Not the chocolate kind.

That's very kind of you, and yes, you may! Glad you liked the video... I actually saw that on Brit Hume's Fox News broadcast the other night. The Beltway panel that appears on his show, usually two conservatives and two liberals, got a big kick out of it. Most of America would come together at least on this and agree with Obama regarding the subject matter, don't you think?

Gotta giddyup... back in a couple of days. Take care!

        Great! Sending you one..

I really enjoyed the video and yes, every American would agree on that "issue" lol. I also think toolbelts need to go..

.I have watched Brit Hume..good journalist and a nice guy. I know the Beltway Panel...is that the same one with Fred Barnes and Mort Kondrake? Or is their show The Beltway Boys?

Have a good time off....bye for now.

History is and will always be the gregorian angel(see Enoch) of two antithetical world views:

Homogeneity - The idea that we succeed and fail as a group. Think of:

    the pre-Caesarean Roman Democracy
    the Marxist/Leninist Communist Manifesto

Stratification - The idea that only strong individuals create benefits to society. Think of:

the Imperial Roman Empire and the decline of Rome
the Fall of Communism in the 20th century

At an intuitive level, if you contemplate my examples, you can come to the conclusion that the virtues and failings of each lies in the ability or inability for individuals to:

    * Speak their own minds and have it count in some fashion.
    * Participate in a process where their philosophy leads to tangible benefit.

    To wit:

Homogeneity leads to malaise, which leads to unrest, which leads to revolt.
Stratification leads to subjugation, which leads to unrest, which leads to revolt.
