My question is why people who hate America in foreign countries are so happy about Obama being president? The youth of this country should read a little about Jimmy Carter. Carter became president as a result of Watergate. As now, the media propelled Carter to the top by labeling incompetency as a "learning experience", "change", "inclusion" you name it. Results: one of the worst president in the US's history. History repeat itself.

Here's your answer from someone who has lived abroad for many years. Europeans don't hate America, they hate Bush and his extreme right politics. They yearn to have a friendly relationship with an enlightened administration.

Ok i will go along that the people in England, Scottland and Ireland seem to like us just fine but really if the rest of European's do they sure have a funny way of showing it.

ALL you heifers had better keep your nasty hands OFF of him, he is a HAPPILY MARRIED MAN WITH A LOVING WIFE AND TWO LOVLY DAUGHTERS! He ain't got NO time for any of you! You ain't got NOTHING to offer him that he ain't ALREADY got in MICHELLE!!!

They are a fine couple and fine family! They went in this thing together and they WILL come out of it TOGETHER with as much love, if not MORE!

    Keep your lying spirits off!

America needs to release itself from the ignorance and fear that controls it. We need to stop listening to hate radio, and support our new President. Who would really want to try to fix a country that has been led to the brink of financial distruction, but an intelligent, caring leader.

Okay. Seriously. Too many "socialism" comments have been thown around and have to explain this: Socialism has never, ever happened. Ever. Socialisim the idealized end product of Communism, but no Communist state has ever come close to acheiving it. Socialism is not something that accidently sweeps in under cover of night and replaces a Republic (yeah, that too- we are NOT a Democracy, but a Republic), no matter what pundits are ranting. You can't get to Socialism without down the path of Communism, and even then, it is seemingly unnatainable. Socialism isn't at the end of any slippery tax-based slope. If it were that easy, have no doubt that China and Cuba would have grabbed their sleds and been there by now.
One more point. Socialism, the theory of socialism, is not some inherintly evil thing. I know that offends our captalistic sensibilities, but in theory, a Socialist society is quasi-utopian, because theoretically the people are happy and fufilled through altrusim and not materialism. To be honest, I think it is a peaceful and appealling scenaio (until human nature enters the equation), BUT it is a theoretical one and does not take into account people's greed, lust for power, and competivive nature. This has been its fatal flaw. It looks great on paper, but it doesn't translate well into real life.

    There. (whew)

Im sure all of you liberals and minorities will continue to blame Bush when things get even worse. But try to store in your peabrain how things are today and how safe America is right now. All of us that had some insight on how much terrorism has been deterred from us because of President Bush will always thank him as we are not fighting a war on American soil ONLY BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT BUSH AND HIS SUPPORT. I feel sorry for your ignorance and only pray you dont take the real americans down with you.

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING I AM A PROUND MEXICAN AMERICAN WHO VOTED FOR OBAMA AND READY FOR CHANGE!! F*** THE RACIST AND HATERS!!!!!!! Newsweek should have entitled this article "How WE did it!!" Without the media Obama would not have won. If the Obama administration falls flat on its face you can't blame GW and the Republicans anymore because Obama has the majority in the Congress and Senate now. But I am sure if things don't work out for the liberals they will still blame GW Bush. How I remember how quickly the Dems blamed GW for 9-11 even though Slick Willie had been in office for the 8 years prior.
Do you all remember that? I do. Dems will be sure to find a scapegoat to blame, they always do.

I am so happy that Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States of America. He has inspired hope in many people who have nearly lost their hope. It is wonderful that he has touched a lot of people so deeply. Thank-you, Obama!

Obama is up against a very difficult next four years. When he was still a senator Obama was a large part of passing the Global Poverty Act, which is an act that would end severe poverty by 2025. The Borgen Project is also working to pass the Global Poverty Act. According to The Borgen Project:
$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
$540 billion: Annual U.S. Defense Budget.

Ilove the fact that we wil have a fresh face in office. Don't get me wrong I have alot of respect for John MCcain, but
i don't believe we need four more years of George Bush thinking. That is what MCain would have brought us because he(john) said that he had voted the Presidents way 90% of the time. That was one reason I voted for Obama.

    • Posted By: SoCalLutheran @ 11/06/2008 1:49:31 PM

Do you even know what they disagreed and agreed on? i doubt it. He disagreed on some key issues. that 90% thing has no meaning unless you explain how they are the same and how the yaren't

John McCain is not Bush and is a lot more moderate than Bush, but obviosly the media doesn't want you to know this.

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/06/2008 2:12:02 PM

It's not about the media...John McCain's actions in the senate during the past 8 years speak for themselves. He is no moderate. He used to be.

I have been a VERY TOUGH critic of Barack Obama and although I feelings about him have not changed, I MUST take this opportunity to congratulate him and his supporterts on his HISTORIC WIN! Senator Obama ran an EXCELLENT campaign. I must give him his due props!

I use to blog regularly but I have been sporadic in blogging in the recent weeks in part because I saw clear as day what was coming. And there was no need to continue to knock the man who was going to be elected as President. The truth of the matter is that the McCain camp ran an inept campaign! And it makes no sense. His campaign should have been ready and armed to go after Obama HARD! Instead, He seemed to have made the same mistakes that HIllary made. McCain had won his party's nomination about 3-4 months before Obama won his so that gave McCain SIGNIFICANT time to prepare to annihilate his opponent but for whatever reasons he chose not to. What sense did it make to try to bring up questionable things about Obama a week before the election?

Bottom line, Obama brought his "A" game and McCain brought his "C" game. The "A" gamer won and I CAN NOT hate on that at all!

So soon to be President Obama, CONGRATULATIONS and big ups on your "A" game!I will be praying for the continued safety of you and your family!

It is a real pity that you who haven't accepted Obama's Victory will live under Obama's Regin and its so great to know that there are still intelligent Americans wanting this urgent change for America. Remember that no matter what, Obama is real, and i hope to God that he does his best prove to all you recial Americans that color has nothing to do with intelligence

    • Posted By: jthomasarmy @ 11/05/2008 6:23:30 PM

I have to say that your comments are very considerate. I voted for Obama, however, I always have and always will have the utmost respect for Sen McCaine. I really wish that 8 years ago he would have recieved the Republican Nomination. I believe that he would have made a fine president. I just think that he followed Bush too close on certain issue, such has a Iraq. I am currently an Active Duty soldier who has deployed twice to Iraq, and I have to say that it is time to start giving more responsiblity to the Iraqi government. Furthermore, it is time finish off the Taliban. I still havent forgot about 9/11. It seems many people have.
I also have to say that I really believe that Sarah Palin hurt the McCain camp. too many scandals in a short amount of time (all that money for clothes, per diem for her house, flying her children all over the country on the tax payers and most importantly, referring to Iraq as "God's War")

John McCains speech was excellent and shows how great of a man he truly is. He is a hero of this country and deserves the utmost respect. I say this with all honesty and not out of sympathy.....He should hold a cabinet position in the new administration. He is way to valuable to not. I realize that this is highly unlikely, but one can hope. God Bless America

I am a 49 year old male. It amazes me how all the economic blame has been placed on Bush, when in fact the democrats created NAFTA which has done nothing for our country, they also pushed for the community reform act which allowed for mortgages to be given to anyone who could breath, creating a shortage of homes then drove the prices of existing homes sky high, and now the bottom is falling out and it's the Republicans fault. Last night when Obama was doing his speech in Chicago he says it won't happen in a year and maybe not even in his first term, so what is he saying that he lied about all his promises. Already today Russia is testing him. I am very very scared for our country and the future of our children. The people I know who voted for him are lookin for the free hand outs, like health care and free rides for their children to go to college. What ever happened to the if you work hard good things will come of it. That was the principle that are country was built on no on free hand outs.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 10:18:15 PM

He didn't lie. He's always said this isn't going to be easy. And do you really think the millions that voted for him are just looking for handouts? I put myself through college as did every single last person I know who voted for him. I make very good money, have excellent health insurance, and will never want for anything. I just actually have a conscience and care about people who weren't fortunate enough to have my blessings in life. EVERY American should have health care. That people DIE or go BANKRUPT simply because they get sick is a disgrace. This is America, people, the richest country on the planet...yet we can't take care of our people. Disgusting.

      • Posted By: Vypurr @ 11/05/2008 10:38:48 PM

Wow. It sounds like you've had it very good the past "eight years."

        • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 11:29:22 PM

No, actually I haven't. My husband is 170k in debt from getting his doctorate. I was 40k in debt from my masters. I worked 2 jobs while in grad school full time to pay the bills down. Wages have stagnated. Health insurance is becoming more and more rare. Notice I said I was BLESSED, aka extremely lucky, to have it so good. It's ridiculous when people have to work 2 jobs just to pay the utilities.

          • Posted By: Vypurr @ 11/06/2008 12:47:08 PM

Ouch. That's a lot of student debt. Hopefully your masters and your husband's Ph is and will continue be worth the amount of money and effort it took to get them. I was lucky, college in the 70's cost next to nothing compared to today. And I do agree about health care. Tricky though... the fraud alone just for Medicare is staggering. Frightening when you consider a fully nationalized health plan.

            • Posted By: dsamsil @ 11/06/2008 1:34:27 PM

Actually the fraud in medicare is pretty small compared to the fraud that occurs in the medical insurance companies namely due to the mere fact it's much easier to get the large sums of money embellezed in the private sector compared to a government run institution with lots of checks and balances. Most of the cost in the private healthcare industry is overhead. Hospitals have to hire an enormous staff to find out who is covered by what company and what the company covers.

If people did a national health care plan they wouldn't see any increases in wait times except for certain medical tests that well right now have long waiting time since there aren't many facilities that do those tests. A sleep deprivation exam even with private care you have to wait months to get in since there may only be one facility in a region of the US.

In countries with nationalized health care they only spend a few dollars on a doctor's visit and may wait fifteen minutes to an hour even with medical tests, prescription being given. In the US studies have shown the wait time to be the same or longer yet the cost . would be ten times higher at least. Add in medications, medical tests and it costs hundreds of dollars for a doctor visit.

      • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/05/2008 11:12:04 PM

Right on, I'm in a similar fortunate situation but it is our employers caring the financial burden of the uninsured with our premiums, geez $1000 a month for my family to see a doctor maybe twice a year! It's outrageous and the insurance industry is so outdated technology they waste tons of money on processing paperwork. And each company has there own codes, their own system it's expense for the medical establishmen to manage each one's different requirements. Standardization would go a long way towards reducing costs.

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/05/2008 11:06:20 PM

Tax breaks for the WORKING class is not a handout, bailing out corporations who refuse to meet the demands of a supply and demand market (automakers outdated gas guzzling products, airlines, etc) having been get a handout for years from our taxes.

texx4u2 so blacks can not vote for Obama because he is black but it is ok to vote for Mc Cain because he is white. Or maybe the people of the United States of America just sick of the BS in Washington.

    • Posted By: james-wilson @ 11/05/2008 10:16:39 PM

Oh, no. That situation is worst with African-Americans and other non-Caucasions. I am in high school (and yet I am still more mature than most of you and more informed. Who woulda figured that?) and there are HUNDREDS of kids that I know that voted for OBAMA just because he is BLACK. When they said that, and a TEACHER said that is being RACIST they thought it wasn't. And it doesn't stop outside of my high school either. I know many ADULTS with that same problem. And if America was FED UP with the "BS" in WASHINGTON, wouldn't we have elected a REPUBLICAN in either the Office, or a REPUBLICAN-LED CONGRESS? No, it isn't people fed up with bs, its that the MEDIA and *** have made this image that the DEMOCRATIC-LED CONGRESS during BUSH'S presidency didn't have ANYTHING to do with the screwed up country we live in now. So shut up and research, please. thank you.

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 10:33:15 PM

Ok, you're in high school so I'll go easy on you. Bush has had the office for 8 years. Republicans have held a majority in Congress from 1994-2006. Dems only have had the Senate majority (not the House) for 2 years, and Bush has had veto power over anything they've tried to push through. In simpler terms: Dems haven't had time to undo anything, nor would they be able to if they tried.

        • Posted By: f688xt6 @ 11/05/2008 10:53:32 PM

Well, that is fair. So for democrats, it's put up or shut up time. If they cannot accomplish what they want, it cannot be blamed on George Bush anymore. No more excuses. And we the people get to see results and if or how they work. It's one "great experement".

          • Posted By: summer4077 @ 11/05/2008 11:25:44 PM

Completely agree with you. If Dems blow it this time, it's their fault. I'm a moderate. I actually thought McCain would've been ok til he tapped Palin. I still have a lot of respect for him and his service to the country, and I found his concession speech full of grace and dignity--the old McCain showing through.
