Hey, Mr. President-Elect, Got a Minute ... or 10?

This country will always be divided based on moral and ethical beliefs. Obama will never convince God's Elect to diminish the truth about abortion and gay rights, period

You say you believe in change, yet you criticize and belittle republicans. Maybe you should look deep inside yourself and realize what kind of person you are. I am a republican and I believe in democracy and fairness for all. I now support and pray for our new President. I believe in our country and what it stands for. May God Bless you, our country and our President.

The degree of hate and paranoia on this board is truly astounding. It is time for those who believe so strongly in their positions to examine their argument. What concrete proof do I have for my opinions? Where am I getting my information? Do I really want to objectively understand the meaning of what is going on, or do I prefer to view reality through an emotional, selective and subjective lens? What is it about my personality that gives me such pleasure in being so angry?

In light of the disastrous foreign and domestic policy over the last eight years, ranging from the debacle in Iraq to the near economic collapse we narrowly avoided, but of which after effects we will be suffering for years to come, it is amazing to me that some people persist under the assumption that the current ideology has been good for the country, the world, and even for themselves. Please look around. One third of your tax dollar is now wasted just paying the interest on the national debt. That means it cannot be used for other things we need. This interest payment is twice the amount of just eight years ago and with the current economic problems the tax revenue generated this year and next will be less, but the interest payment will be the same, or greater. How much money will then remain for roads and other things we actually need? If you are a conservative please ask yourself how this wasteful ideology can possibly be called conservative? And how do you feel about owing trillions of dollars to China, a country that continues to oppress it's people, but yet, is now an ally.

Under the guise of a "war on terror", which itself is a misnomer, as you can't have a war on an emotion, (but which serves to fire up the emotional side of the brain and turn off the rational) habeus corpus has been suspended, thousands of warrantless wiretaps have been performed, the press has been restricted (remember the woman who was arrested for photographing coffins returning from Iraq?), and many other violations of constitutional law have occurred. Is this the America of your fathers and mothers?

Being a true patriot means questioning the actions of your government. It does not mean loving, or hating, your elected leaders, but paying attention to what they are doing and if they are straying off course, doing something about it. In order to effectively do this, you need to understand the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You need to pay attention. You need to get your information from a variety of sources, not just the major networks.

If you choose not to do this, but still have strong opinions, please do not fool yourself that you are patriotic, you are in fact nationalistic and that is a very distinct and dangerous difference.

One of the reasons Barak won was due to the support from the white and hipanic communties. Without those two groups helping Barak would have been another Jesse Jackson, just a footnote in the election of 2008. So, when somone goes dancing in the street , saying "We did it!!" I''m going to assume he means Democrats when he says "we".

you are a poor example of your race, and if you are not black, then you are poor example of mankind, period. I'd love to see your grade school marks in English and spelling.
