What is it that makes Barack Obama an African American. He is 50% black and 50% white. The only reason that he is considered african american is purely on the color of his skin. Which to me is meaningless. We teach our kids to not look at people by their gender or skin color, but the whole time during this election we are talking about Baracks skin color and Palins gender. I thought we were past this. This election should not be historic for someones skin color. This should be a celebration for one persons ideas to better a nation. To vote for someone based on skin color is exactly is the distrimination we all have been trying to get away from the last 30 to 40 yrs. Lets be more civilized and educated America. The media needs to quit pushing the race and gender glass ceiling reports.

Well, given that his father was Kenyan (an African country, last I checked) and his mother was American, I don't see how Mr. Obama could be more African-American no matter what his skin color. That aside, the rest of your argument has some merit. Unfortunately, our country hasn't gotten past that yet. Skin color and gender are indisputably still factors in our politics whether we like it or not. As we move forward, let's just hope they become increasingly less a factor.

All these blacks are crying and shouting and dancing in the streets because Barry Hussein was elected as teh first black president. Not one of these blacks, not even Oprah, spoke about his qualifications or experience or radical views, because this does not matter to them, only skin color matters to these racists. If white people celecrated this way they would be called racists. Barry Hussien is a left wing extremist who befriends unreptant terrorists and liberal left wing radicals. God Bless America, and not allah as Barry woudl want.

I happen to be a white woman who voted for Barack because I found him to be articulate, extremely intelligent, composed, and calm: a rare combination of first-rate intellect and a first-rate mind, while all the Republicans had was "fear and smear." I am glad that he can inspire people of color and other minorities, but his race was really a non-issue to me. And for Pete's sake, can we get off the Allah/Muslin thing already? As Colin Powell felt compelled to remind people, this country is supposed to welcome freedom of ALL religions, including Muslim. Being Muslim and being a terrorist are NOT one and the same; can you possibly grasp that annoying little fact?

Ouch, that really, really hurt. I'm going to try to live up to your scrutinization of my life somehow. If only we lived in a country where we were allowed to live our own lives, had liberty and were allowed to pursue happiness ... what a country that would be.

well, mr.william69, you don't sound educated enough to know a good Man with leader qualities. I'm white and proud to say I voted for OBAMA. You might check yout comment, just reading it tells us your lack of education.

In response to USAF Retired :Who cares if Obama is your president or not .We lost the Iraq war even before we waged the war .You are too thick headed to perceive what i am saying .Do you get it that it was ill conceived ? You are misguided & totally removed from reality. We are way behind the third world due to the prejuduces of people like you.Wake up & face reality.America has to lead by example & by electing a Black President ,we have proven what a true domocracy we have in the US. Obama is my President .Next is to see a Woman President. This Country has to move forward & set examples for the rest of the World to follow.

The Confederate states and right-wing fanatics are no doubt upset at the 2008 Presidential Election result where the majority of the citizens of this fine country elected a Democratic African-American. This is the true American Dream that our veterans fought for us to have, especially the vets who gave their lives fighting for FREEDOM for ALL of us. Now with peace and hope and honesty, our new administration has alot of repair work to do. Here's wishing the confederates and fanatics embrace this wonderful time, look beyond all boundaries, and join the American team.

Good GOD Barrack hussein obama, how unamerican does that sound, for the first time in my life i dont want to be an american, never has giving up my citizenship sounded more of a good idea, not because he is black, a black man or woman has as much right to be president than a white man or women, but in my opinion both candidates were bad choices on both parties, and the only reason obama binladen was elected is because he is black, the whites voted for him because of what he promises and the fact that mccain unfortunately was the best the republican party could come up with, very sad; the blacks voted for him simply because he`s black, how far back does this mans roots go anyway, he has no experience, except for how to run for office, he doesnt support our troops, and again his name, is he honestly even american, sounds more like the president of some middle eastern country

    • Posted By: LudwigVanBeet @ 11/05/2008 10:06:00 PM

We don't want you as an American either, Evidently you would fit in with the KKK and move to Anarctica.

    • Posted By: basedrum777 @ 11/05/2008 9:39:22 PM

You're a sad statement for a human being let alone an American. So you're saying if his name was George or Bob he would be a better choice for president? And where do you get that he doesn't support our troops? Bringing them home would be the best support he could provide. Bush has taken advantage of the trust placed in him in regards to the troops. He wasted countless American lives and should be imprisoned for his lies. Don't fool yourself with the farce that Republicans are pro-troops b/c it hasn't proven to be true. Obama received more donations from troops than Mccain and he's former Navy. That should tell you everything.

Penny Pritzker and her family business help design the subprime mortgage predatory lending policy that let to this financial meltdown. She made billions off the poor in mortgage business. Rahm Emanuel was a staunch supporter of NAFTA and is more pro Israeli than George Bush. He is a neo conservative democrat. who help push through some of the deregulation of the banks that started the mess were in. Robert Rubin helped to engineer the deflation of the price of gold and is part of the financial elite. Lets face it the corporate supremicists have complete control of Obama . If the people who elected him want real change wewill have to demand it and not sit back and let corporate controlled Democrats do the bidding of there Corporate masters.

And this comes as a surprise to you?

  • Posted By: william69 @ 11/05/2008 10:04:04 PM

I love seeing the black community discuss how proud they are to see a black man elected president. Yet not one of them has mentioned his qualifications or experience only his skin color. Oprah to the unemployed blacks dancing in the streets, have no idea about his radical and extremist views. God Bless America, please not Allah as Barry Hussein would want.

Well, I've had enuf fun with this endless supply of bitter, small minded, right wing idiots .. just guess where I'm going americana ...

    • Posted By: skeebums99 @ 11/05/2008 8:46:46 PM

Hannah B, you seem to be bitter and unloving, perhaps young, and lacking in life experiences. These times remind me of 40 years ago, I SURVIVED Jimmy Carter, Clinton etc. It's the people of this nation that make it go. I have voted Republican for many election cycles, but have no hatred in my heart as you seem to like to paint us right wingers. The rhetoric is the same now as it was decades ago. The best revenge I feel is to live a happy life, stay true to family and core beliefs. God bless you!!

A gracious concession speech by McCain, the true McCain - too bad the true McCain has been missing for the past several months. Alas, it was not his time, his time was in 2000. McCain sold his soul when he aligned himself with the very people who caused him to lose the GOP nominee in 2000 by using dirty underhanded tactics. McCain's problem-BUSH!

Bush worst and dumbest EVER! He was never president over ALL the people of this fine country. If you want to be president of a country, you HAVE to be leader of ALL the people, not just the rich ones, not just the ones that look like you, and not just the ones of your political party. Personal goals were more important to Bush rather than being honest and good and moral. At any cost and using any corrupt means would that thick-skulled idiot use to reach HIS and Cheney's goals.

    • Posted By: native nothing @ 11/05/2008 9:42:31 PM

Wait and see what will happen with Obama....we'll become a socialist country.

You idiots out there keep blaming Bush for the financial crisis...there were so many other people involved, CONGRESS (who is that controlled by?), mortgage companies, realtors, wall street, greenspan, OH, AND WAIT...HERE'S A GOOD ONE! WE THE PEOPLE!! What a concept if no one has a brain to know whether or not they can afford a $500,000 HOME!! what's wrong with you people?? You probably blame McDonald's for making you fat or whatever the reason may be...WAKE UP AMERICA...AND WATCH WHAT'S TO COME...

bush will go down as a fine president? that is so sad to even type those words. And we need to as a nation take "god" out of politics so that all can be treated justly. I am fine with my God, he loves me, protects me, mde me what I am. But being a gay man, I dont expect to call him to give me the same rights that "normal couples have" I dont, and would respect this country more if they didnt use GOD to make their convoluted descisions, vote leagally right and wrong for all people

FINALLY, a positive future, something to look forward to. Thank Goodness - what a glorious, happy, encouraging, and hopeful time! I only hope the Lord watches over and protects Obama for his safety. The fact that most of the world agrees with the PEOPLE'S choice of this election should tell us something - the MAJORITY of us know what that is.

Unlike the 2004 election where the electoral vote put Bush in office, the results of this election is the PEOPLE'S choice. Leadership we can trust and be proud of, something we have not been able to do for 8 long years. Now we can walk with our heads held high. Positive attitudes and a true breath of fresh air. A good legacy to leave our children and grandchildren and generations to come. A legacy of promise, hope, and good-will is the story left behind from this election, not like the nightmare from the corrupt and idiotic Cheney/Bush Administration.

I may live in the "old west" but I can't believe the peoples comments of race. My family came from poor irish immagrents. I honor them for their hard work and I thank them for a life that has been far easier than theirs. Change is a good thing and we must learn and embrace our past while looking to the future and change. Only time will tell but give the man a chance.

    • Posted By: native nothing @ 11/05/2008 9:36:56 PM

True, we have no choice but to give the man a chance. However, I believe by CONTINUOUSLY saying 'THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN TO BECOME ANYTHING...sounds like RACISM continues to be in the limelight.

  • Posted By: hepworthkeith @ 11/05/2008 9:17:42 PM

yup Obama binladen sucks, we have a terrorist for a president.

    • Posted By: syrusstyles @ 11/05/2008 9:31:09 PM

How much money do you make?, better yet how many years of grade school did you complete; your fear is greater than your obvious ignorance; dont fret, Obama will have a voice for even you(*though sad), that is the beauty of this election, the masses have a voice again.

  • Posted By: angelogaribaldi @ 11/05/2008 9:29:38 PM

Obviously electing our first African-American President will not eradicate the ignorance and bigotry that
prevails among the afflicted. Fortunately however, this cadre appears to be rapidly diminishing in spite of the prolonged evolutionary process.
