Obama has already started to disappoint, from his choice of Hillary to his choice of rev racist to lead prayer son inauguration to his inability to chastise Israel for wanton killing of 450 gazans to his Bush like attitude towards Iran, this guy is a white backside licker, a toadie, a masah lover. Love him or hate him, that was something Zawahari already told us about Obama, this guy was the house negro, who would not upset his masah and even go beyond any white guy to keep the whiteys happy. I dont think this guy has any backbone, I supported him and donated to his campaign, but that was only because McCain was a 1000 times worse choice, not because Obama was the best choice. Obama is the second worst choice.

I predict Obama will be a one term President, especially if the GOP comes up with a sensible rational canditate in 2012

This week, there is an economic meeting of 19 of the world's leaders in Washington. The Russian President said he would meet with Obama during this session, a not unrealistic expectation. Now Obama refuses to meet with them. This must be insulting to the Russian President, and to all the world's leaders. This is no way to behave. Either Obama is afraid or his arrogance, and self-iportance is destructive.

    To D. Paul:
The cost of the Iraq war, for example trillions loaned from China, greedy capitalism and deregulation has caused our economic woes. It is a culmination of factors ending in a No-surprise. And not nearly over yet.

The hidden number of deaths in wars is the number of civilian families in that country (thousands in Iraq) who are killed as part of the action. It has happened recently in Pakistan. But you know this.

No mention anywhere in anything i wrote, was about tax cuts!!
This is an obsession with some people, isn't it?
Although on Obama's tax plan, no family or small business making less than $250K will see any kind of any tax increase at all. Families making more, will pay the same or lower tax rates than they paid in the 1990's.

At the end of Reagan second term, we had stock market decline and massive debt problems that had to be solved during the Clinton Administration. Clinton passed on a massive budget surplus which has been squandered by this current Administration. So now it's happened once more. The dems have to clean up after the repubs again. My point.

About Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction there. Al Qaeda was not there. Oil was there.
Yes, I was one of the lucky ones on September 11.

What we have in common is that we care about this nation, right?

GOLLY WHAT A SET OF SHAMEFUL HATERS! I HONESTLY STILL BELIEVED THAT THE ELECTING OF OBAMA IS A SORT OF HEALING FOR BLACKS FOLKS WHO HAVE BEEN SUFFERED GREATELY BEING DENIED EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN THIS COUNTRY. AS A FOREIGNER WHO GREW UP IN A COUNTRY WHERE THE SKY WAS AND STILL IS NO LIMIT FOR ALL AND NOT FOR SOME, I CRIED AND STILL DO WHEN I LOOK AT RE-RUNS OF THAT EVENT OF THAT HISTORIC DAY FOR BLACKS. RACISM WAS A RUDE AWAKING ON ARRIVAL IN THIS COUNTRY AND I HAD FEARED FOR MY SONS FUTURE, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT AS BAD AS IT HAD BEEN A DECADE AGO. THANKS TO ALL AMERICANS WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN, IT IS GOD'S WAY FOR THIS HEALING TO TAKE PLACE. THESE BUNCH OF HATERS, MOST OF THEM ARE SO IGNORANT AND DID NOT SIEGE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO BETTER, EVEN WITH THE ADVANTAGES THEY HAD OVER US; BUT THE HATING CONTINUES. LET LOVE PREVAIL, LIVE AND LET LIVE, ONE GOD, ONE LOVE!!

    • Posted By: brydges @ 11/12/2008 1:28:43 PM

Was it racist for balcks to vote for Obama because his race? If we want racism to stop then everyone must be treated equal and act like equals. That includes being held acountable for your actions. Reverse Racism is not the answer. I am a working class white male descended from imigrants who were treated like dirt when they arrived in America. No one owes me for this and I don't owe anyone anything.

Blacks did not vote for Obama just because he was Black. Blacks have historically voted democratic and would have given the same amount of enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton.

I hope Barak was voted in, not for a "healling process" but because he was the better of the two candidates. If your white, and you voted for Barak to account for past injustices, or just to make yourself feel better, you voted for the wrong reasons. A president is chosen because he is the best candidate running for the job. You do not chose because of white guilt. To do so lessens the candidate chosen. It is the same as saying he wasn't the best guy for the job but you wanted to feel good, so you chose him.

    To "it's about the future":

Go and compare the number of people murdered in Obama's Chicago versus the number of people killed in the war per month and you'll be surprised.

And to blame Bush for "struggling to buy food, own a place to live, pay for health care, keep a job and pay for gas"? Are you kidding me? Was is Bush's tax cuts that brought us to this place?

Go and Google Jimmy Carter and the Community Reinvestment Act and read up on how this all got started. Fannie and Freddie and Bill Clinton got the ball rolling by allowing loans and mortgages to be given to people who could not pay them. That got us to where we are now. How about doing some research about when Bush first warned about Fannie and Freddie and see who blocked him in congress when he wanted some accountability. That was 2001. And again in 2003 and 2005. We are feeling the effects of Bill Clinton at this point in time.

If you want to be credible at all, don't blame Bush.

    To "it's about the future":

Maybe you should consider moving to Iran or Iraq, go show those people support if you are so worried about what they think of the U.S.

Also, go check some statistics from Obama's Chicago and compare the number of murders per month in Chicago versus anywhere else we are at war; you'll be surprised.

A phoney war???? Where were you on September 11, 2001???

And you want to blame Bush because "we are struggling to buy food, own a place to live, and pay for health care, pay for gas, and keep a job"? How, exactly, is that Bush's fault? Was it all of his tax cuts that led to "us struggling to buy food"? You have to be kidding me.

How about you go sit in front of your computer and Google Jimmy Carter and his Community Reinvestment Act and see how that turned out. What in the world do you think Freddie and Fannie have been doing? They, under Clinton, got lots of people who couldn't afford to pay a mortgage to take out a loan - so they could "own their homes". Well guess what? THEY couldn't afford, not George W. Bush. Get your facts straight before you start posting comments, you just embarrass yourself.

I will assume you voted for Obama. When your taxes go up and we're up to our eyeballs in a recession that started with the likes of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, you probably still won't get it.

Am sure the "Euros" would love to hear you call them pansies. So be ready to rumble with individuals from very diverse backgrounds, just like back home in the USA.

"The Euros hated Reagan". What would you define as a fair sampling of this opinion? Your friends?
And who is it exactly, that you think is trying to please France and Germany on vast and complex global issues?

Try putting some of your blame in the lap of this Administration which has served Americafor the last eight years, and is still serving. This Administration is responsible for a manufactured and phoney war which killed four thousand American men and women in uniform, and thousands of civilians who did us no wrong. This war has made us feared, unpopular and untrustworthy in the middle east and elsewhere.
At home this phoney war has bankrupted America. We are struggling to buy food, own a place to live in, pay for health care and keep a job, pay for gas.

When it comes to Iran and Iraq and the economy, Obama was against the Iraq war from the beginning, because he clearly anticipated the consequences for everyone in the middle east, and the terrible costs involved on down the road.
If you want to be credible at all, don't be blaming Obama.

As an American who lives and works in Europe, when the Euro pansies get excited about and like a US president I get worried because they aren't doing their job. Its not about being popular in the world its about protecting and furthering US interests. The Euros hated Reagan and he was arguably the best president of the last century. We don't have to please the French or Germans with our choices and policies, they sure don't care what we think about what they do in their countries. As for Iraq, we've won that and we need to keep Iran boxed in. Just wait if Obama asks for more help from the NATO allies in the south and east of Afghanistan where you have to shoot and not just play soldier, they will piss themselves and think that a "unilateral" president in the White House wasn't so bad. If you need to get something done do it yourself waiting for the UN debate club to do something isn't very effective (nor is NATO for that matter).

Lets pray that obama doesnt appease IRAN who cleric already stated that hate for america runs so deep there can be no peace with america so appeasement of IRAN is out of the question because with peace who the iranian religious government have to hate next??? this hate keeps them in control it benefits them. And most of all I hope obama doesnt allow europeans to push him in a direction of appeaseing russia because russia acts like innocent but she supplies enemy nations with defense systems and offense weapons but its okay for them to do it but when we offer a defense missle system which is defense only they get mad and deploy offensive missles on poland border it seems russian aggression and xenophobia is running high in russia they starting to look like the rise of nazi germany did. europeans appease nazi germany for peace and brought nothing but disaster and europeans well known for appeasement their citzens so weak the russians know they can get away with pushing them around so please MR obama bin laden the empty suit who all blacks and media make excuses for please dont appease damn russians who now have dictatorship never trust those types.

Good Luck to you all and by the way he is not the leader of the world how dare he even think that and how stupid for other people in the world to think that there is only one leader of the whole world and that is Jesus Christ Himself it is blasphemy stating that this man a mere humand being is the leader of the world and how dare he even think this. So much for his so-called Christian belief that he telss us he believes in he is a liar and a thief.

Prove that 1) Jesus was NOT just a man, and 2) that he actually existed, and 3) that he really rose from the dead. show me this somewhere in the historical record. Oh, that's right, you CAN'T because the proof does not exist. The text in Josephus has been proven to be a forgery for centuries, unfortunately, the religious folks still quote it, because that is the only "proof" they have. The reality is all the gospels that you hold so near and dear were all written 20-50 years after he supposedly lived, by PEOPLE THAT NEVER MET HIM. This is admitted by Christian theologians and clergy alike.
          So yeah, get over it.

    • Posted By: jazzmanjim @ 11/12/2008 1:19:56 PM

Liberals have killed 50 million in this country since 1973 through the crime of abortion.

Now, I agree that Obama didn't do this but signing the FCOA will make him complicit in this crime.

It's always about abortion. Abortion and the atrocities of the Holocaust ARE NOT THE SAME!!!!!! You think that when a woman makes the awful decision she does so with glee and joy? "I can't wait for the next one!!" When you, as a man, can get pregnant through the heinous, violent crime of rape, then you can come talk to me.

          • Posted By: jazzmanjim @ 11/12/2008 1:41:33 PM

No, I don't think that women go gleefully getting abortions.

We argue this until we're blue in the face (and this might not be the best thread). However, why does any discussion about this always come back to rape (or incest)? Are all of the 50 million children aborted in this country since 1973 the product of these henious, evil crimes against hummanity? Why is it the child has to pay because of the crime of one of it's parents?

Abortion is the greatest gift ever to men. They can use women and then when she gets pregnant kill the baby.

Oh yeah, I'm an adoptive parent. All human life is precious and has potential. I do not see getting pregnant as a "punishment" (as a certain persident-elect said) but is instead a blessing.

            • Posted By: EricaEcc @ 11/13/2008 1:41:10 PM

I agree that we could argue forever ont his topic, but I couldn't get it out of my head last night the comparison of abortion with the atrocities of the Holocaust. It bothers me so much...that's net even a strong enough sentiment. The victims of the Holocaust were killed by an insane leader who hated them because of their religion. These people were productive members of society who committed the crime of simply being Jewish. I know that you can make the argument of the innocence of the fetus, but this is not my point. My point is that Obama, for whatever you believe, is not Hitler. I know all human life is precious; I have a beautiful daughter to prove it to me every day. But again, my point was not about abortion...you brought that topic into the discussion, Jazzman. Comparing Obama to Hitler is beyond offensive, and I signed up to comment strictly for that and nothing more.

Only 5% abort babies because of rape or the health of the woman. Come on. I get tired of people using the rape argument as the reason we should allow abortion in this country. Do you know one of the first policies that Obama is going to rescend? Providing money for people in foreign countries to get abortions. Bush stopped this country from sending money to foreign countries for abortion. Clintons Administration was doing it. Did you know that?

A presidents job is to serve his country and fight for it's best interest at home and abroad. It's not a world popularity contest. I'm an American living in the UK. If there is one impression that is becoming more clear the longer I'm away from home (5 years) is that Europe is more than willing to dish out arrogant judgments on US policy no matter who is running the show, but not willing to act or make decisions them selves. The US should concentrate on home affairs and withdraw the billions shelled out to ungrateful nations in aid, stop propping up the impotent UN and let the world work things out for them selves for a change. Then the world can stop obsessing about the US, pull their finger out, and step up to the plate.

I'm sorry, but your opinion, no matter what it is, is worth nothing and neither will your opinion be if Mr. Obama does or does not live up to America's expectations. He, as all our president's have been, is only human!!
And if you did not think enough of our country to VOTE for any candidate, then I fail to see how you believe that you still have a right to complain if things do not go your way. We may have had many rights taken away from us in the last years, but the right and privilege to vote is still ours!!!

Just because you dumped the best qualified doesn't mean that person can't be written in. I'll have the consolation for whatever part of the next four years that I have to watch of knowing I had no part in it.

4carol, you are a perfect example of the preumptiously silly hypocrites, mired in demanding the inconsequential be pushed to the fore, that strewed Obama's path with rose petals..
It's misplaced identification and when it hits you , I'll be t you'll have to spend all of homeroom writing it in your little lock-up diary.

There are a lot of untapped dramas in your head, gandolina.

Hillary is behind Obama all the way...don't you listen to her, or did you just give her the R. vote in the Primary?

Your "opportunist who is unqualified, untested and unprincipled", describes exactly the republican presidential candidacy. Remember the spotty BA in journalism, mayor of 9,000, governor of 65,000 for 20 months, anti-evolution, anti-global warming, Africa-is-a-country-not-a-continent candidate?

And you are wrong. Canada is NOT a parallel for the US, having been pro-people first, and pro-multiculturalism, pro-education and anti-war for decades.

The US needs to move out of the Dark Ages.

    • Posted By: gandolina @ 11/12/2008 2:40:31 PM

sweetie, I've never voted R and never will. But Obamabots never let facts get in the way of their delusions. Which part of I didn't vote for either needs to be explained to you yet again. I feel that mCain is equally a bad choice. I would never choose either.
You fell for what happens in every election: demonizing one candidate in order to sanctify the other. You got gamed.
Yes we need to move out of the Dark Ages and why you would think this silly choice of someone who has been in Congress all of 157 days- not even enough time to make an informed Senator, ;let alone a president-- is the way to do it is your very own folly. If he had been a nominee to the Supreme Court he would have been rejected simply on the basis of his meager work record. yet would hang him the entire executive branch.
For me the very best thing about Obama is that my expectations of him are so low it will be impossible for him to ever disappoint me.
You see promise, I see desperation. Clutch at straws, and a Straw Man is all you get..

For the rest of you, I think Newsweek should make it interesting and make ther own promise.
To run this article along with the commentary each year from today that Obama is in office.

I really would love to be proved wrong.
Because, even if I might not be there to see it, it really is about the future. And you've all been gulled by a guy who has used every single thing history has already disproved.
Again, just for your own edification, especially if you don't want to , I urge you to google Robespierre on wiki and read his biography. Then you'll never be able to say you didn't know what can happen to the promise of an idealized candidate.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Not to mention, Benjamin Franklin's curse on America. That the Population would get the president it deserved. When that happens we will all have you who needed to prioritize the wrong fundamentals at the cost of ignoring the obvious to thank for it.

You know, this is starting to bother me. A FEW of Obama's supporters believed in him on some sort of mythological basis, and all of a sudden that must mean the rest of us did too, so now he's the model for every cult-of-personality demagogue who's ever mismanaged a nation-state.

I worked with a lot of Obama volunteers this summer, and was one myself, and trust me when I say we all understand that the man is human and is incapable of parting the seas or the earth or of magically fixing everything in the country. One of the reasons I voted for him is that, of all the candidates, he seemed to be the *most* aware of his own limitations, and the candidate most genuinely on a path to humility, in terms of his personal rhetoric. He was the only one I saw to fully and openly discuss those limitations in interviews. I quite believe that he may not be able to help much of anything at all (one of my fears about him) - our system is very, very damaged right now - but I still think we have the best CHANCE with him as President.

I'm decently educated. I'm sick of the mischaracterizations of myself as an "Obamabot" instead of a man who tried to serve his candidate in a thoroughly respectable way by expressing rational support for him as a volunteer and on these boards. I learned about Robespierre in history class. I find it interesting that you compare Obama to him, a man who later murdered and purged many of his political opponents.

If you go ahead and compare Obama to Robespeirre, sir or madam, I really and truly believe it's your soul that's in trouble, not mine or Obama's. All of these "cult-of-personality" comparisons bring up murderers, tyrants, demagogues - Obama was democratically elected. He has the support of both our legal system and a majority of our electorate and has about as much resemblance to Robespierre, Il Jong, Hitler, Stalin, or any of the other boogeymen dredged up out of the ooze of history as a jaybird does to an iguana. It makes me think is that you have some sort of pathological need to see people as evil, or something.

Your opinions are yours and you have the right to them, but I will stand up and firmly say here that I think your comparisons and your judgements are negative as well as invalid. You seem much older than me - good. Instead of going "things are awful, and soon you will see that I am right", why don't you use your years of presumable experience to grow up and start trying to do something decent about the world?

We are getting a clearer picture of Obama each day. It points to arrogance, weakness, and dishonesty:

Obama met with Iraq's Maliki in July 2008 and began or tried to negotiate with him BEFORE he was president.

In July 2008, at the same time the Bush administration was negotiating a still elusive agreement to keep the U.S. military in Iraq, OBAMA TRIED TO CONVINCE IRAQI LEADERS IN PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS THAT THE CURRENT PRESIDENT, GEORGE W. BUSH, SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO ENACT THE DEAL WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL.

A few weeks before the Nov. 4 election Obama threw conservative reporters off of his plane.

In October 2008 VP candidate Joe Biden predicted an international crisis would be staged in 2009 to test Obama after he became president, and predicted that people in the U.S. would not like the way Obama handles it. FIRST TIME IN KNOWN HISTORY THAT A VP CANDIDATE HAAS MADE SUCH A PREDICTION ABOUT HIS PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATE.

On Nov. 8, 2008, President-elect Barack Obama's private conversation with Poland's president created an international disagreement, with President Lech Kaczynski saying Obama promised to continue a missile-defense system and the transition office saying the Democrat made no such commitment.

Good. Great. I applaud him for doing so. Bush's policies in the middle East have been megalomaniacal.

None of these things you mentioned are any sort of real, actual threat or crisis. It's just more scaremongering. I urge you to stop being terrified of yourself and the world and get out and try to help instead of running around on these boards with an e-sign saying "THE END IS NEAR".

Do you actually believe everything you read?

Those are all verified and widely known facts, so you had better believe them.
Along with that, go back and read the transcripts and see what Biden had to say about obama before being picked as vp. He pretty much called him an inexperience bullsh** artist without the skill to order a meal, much less run a country. And his position was very clear, and also very accurate.

gandolina-another hater that can except a change as many of my fellow co-workers. I asked them why it is so hard for them to except a mixed race American in offcice and they told me "because it always has been and it is an unwritten law". No where in the constitution does it say that a white male must be president so get use to a person of color and maybe one day even the original inhabitants of our country holding that position "The Indians". That being said suck it up and see how it should be done!
