I was terrified after witnessing Hillary in the debates the mere possibility of her becoming President Elect Obama's right hand person....when I first found out that it was Joe Biden he'd chosen, I was elated!
Hillary I'm sure would be a great asset behind the scenes where it's necessary to get someone else's approval before moving forward but she's not one we want to see up close and personal...talk about somebody needing a "chill pill"!

People are acting like Hillary isn't still one of the most powerful people in the Democratic Party and the Senate and potentially the most powerful woman in politics at this time, period. She's perfectly able to lock horns and cause trouble for Obama if she wants to.

I personally doubt she will (much), and I think she is a fine, honorable, and RESPECTED Senator from New York! Besides that, she was the First Lady for eight years! She is one of the most accomplished women in America! People need to remember this!

DarkNLovelyNTotallyNutty. You were elated with the choice of Joe Biden? The man talka nd talks ands talks and makes absolutely no sense at all. This may work for the insignificant State of Delaware, which was meant to be part of Maryland anyway, but it won't work for the United States of America. Talk about frightening possibilities! This nut-case is going to be one heartbeat from the Presidency. The first post on this board is right. We're screwed. Royally!

jpoofarm: **I** heard that you wont put your hand on the Bible, dont even believe that the Old Testiment is true, that you believe evolution. Someone told me you were Muslim. I wont say who, but just sayin' that's what I heard.

jpoofsrm: **I** heard that you thought Jesus was a Muslim. I also heard you need to brush your teeth more. I also heard you drive a car made overseas. I also heard you shop at WalMart and buy stuff made by Chinese workers instead of American workers. God help us.

Placing your hand on the Bible doesn't influence your capacity to lead. All presidents have placed their hand on the Bible, good and bad. He wouldn't be any better or any worse of a President if he put his hand on a Dr. Seus book or a Charles Dickens novel

The other day my wife who works for Verizon over heard a conservation between a white customer over his phone. "How long did it take you to vote? It took me only five minutes! It Obama 15, what a dunce." I wonder what was his education level? We just got rid of a two turn president that was a (C) student and a losing candidate who finished at the bottom of his class. President elect Obama has several degrees and finished often ahead of his class. Some people will never give credit where credit is due. This Presidend will be by far the mose educateded President this country has had. Guess what? He just happened to be a Black Man!!! Who will for the most will probably turn our economics around and put this country back in the Black. If that's what a dunce is then I'm proud of that dunce.!!!!!!!

I have read many articles on Obama and have enjoyed all of them, they all seem to speak of him as an even tempered person. I also love the nerd in him, but what I love the most is the true love that he and Michelle share and openly display!

I wish him the best! I do know that he is a man with a lot of weight on his shoulders so I beg that he be given
a fair chance and patience. PLEASE!

I am so very proud of the person he is and look forward to witnessing his growth! I am also so excited about the intelligent manner in which he will represent our great nation, after 8 years of Bush shaming us all over the globe it is refreshing to know we have a smart handsome statesmanlike man to represent us. I am just so VERY EXCITED about PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA!!!!

Interesting article, with a pro-Obama slant vis a vis Hillary. Missing was mention of Obama's use Donnie McClurkin to open up a rally in South Carolina, even after McClurkin's over the top homophobia was publicized. Or that is was Obama, down in the polls, who decided to go negative in the campaign, or his insinuations and that of his campaign that Bill Clinton actually was a racist. I'm glad Obama won, but I would have hoped you could have provided a more evenhanded treatment of the Democratic primary campaign now that it is over.

As a white person, I voted for Obama because, among other reasons, he was the only candidate who really managed his campaign well, including hundreds of staffers and millions upon millions of dollars. The man is incredibly smart, and makes good strategic decisions while taking into account the opinions of other knowledgeable influencers such as Warren Buffet, etc. Even with all the trash that was thrown at him between the McCain and Clinton campaigns, he handled it well and still won by a landslide. The fact that McCain and Clintons' campaigns had infighting and were going bankrupt sounded exactly like the last eight years of Bush's presidency...infighting and debt. Sure, it's exciting that we have our first black president, but what's most exciting is that he's intelligent and won't jump the gun on important decisions.

This article is the closest thing to legitimate journalism I've seen in a very long time. Keep up the good work!

I've absolutely adored the Clintons for years, and hopefully Obama will earn the same admiration. Excellent article!

    • Posted By: jerzyboy349 @ 11/06/2008 12:21:50 PM

David: You've "absolutely" adored the Clintons for all that time? I think that you need to be institutionalized, and your nasty posts emphasize this urgency even more. Also, who are you to tell people to leave their own country.? We're gonna stay right here and fight for our country! We're not going anywhere!

It appears that one of the people way below the radar will end up in the Obama administration. Reuters is reporting that former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Mississippi Governor Ray Mabus is being considered for Energy. Others say he may get a nod for Education or the CIA. One interesting sidenote. Google "Mabus." Right at the top are links to a suggestion that Mabus is linked to the anti-Christ. What's the basis for this nuttiness? Apparently, in Century II, Quatrain 62. written by Nostradamus, one interpretation mentions "Mabus."

    But wait, there's more:

Mabus then will soon die, there will come
Of people and beasts a horrible rout:
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred, hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.
    Century II, Quatrain 62

The antichrist very soon annihilates the three,
twenty-seven years his war will last.
    The unbelievers are dead, captive, exiled;
with blood, human bodies, water and red hail covering the earth.
    Century VIII, Quatrain 77

Oy veh! Let's hope that those who vet potential Obama appointees have a sense of humour!

Y'know what? I voted for McCain, but now that all the election BS is over, and we get to read these softer, behind the scenes articles, I kind of like this guy. I'm hoping for the best.

Who is the most ultra-liberal of the two - Hillary or Obamy?

Loti: kindly blow it out your self-righteous ass.

what I wonder is: of the two which one is the most ultra-liberal of politicians?

Excellent job, Newsweek. This is some wonderfully insightive and interesting journalism. You've captured the key players of this saga that is the American election. Thanks.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the first three chapters of this book and eagerly await the remaining chapters. It's doubly interesting as each of us holds that one tiny additional piece of knowledge that acts like a clapper in a bell - I KNOW how this story ends.
