Wow----I hope you don't believe what you wrote. The democrats deserve you.
Wow----I hope you don't believe what you wrote. The democrats deserve you.
24 hours after the election and already the Republicans are trying to lay the groundwork to blame the Demcrats fro any thing and everything. No matter who the Presidnet is the hole GWB has dug for us will ba LONGGGGGGGGGGG and Pianfullllllllllllllllllllll climb to try and get back to any type of recovery. I will say this I was pround of teh speak Mccain gave on Tuesday night, at least he looks to the future and talked about working together to fix all that GWB di dto this country, not spend all his efforts crying about who is gonna be balmed for all the pain, wich was caused by GWB and President Cheney who has really been the one who ran this great country into the ground. So lets stop whinning and roll up our sleeves and start to rebuild.
We (USA) sunk to new lows. This election had the worst possible outcome. The Best Man LOST.
Disagree
All this talk about super-egos, visionaries, party builders, influencers, and on and on....
What ever happend to our congresswo/men REPRESENTING our districts, the PEOPLE in our districts, and SERVING their communities, states, and nation? And accumulation of SERVICE accomplishments elevate them to positions of leadership they EARNED over their service time? Oh no, now its "here I am make me top dog for I'm handsome, articulate, and visionary, never mind that i've yet to do vey much..."
And worse still, bidding for leadership with a tone of opposition to a presumed "democratic wave of hubris & exess partisanship"... why such a presumption when voters elected candidates with a conciliatory message seeking reduction of partisanship and increased cooperation?
I'm fed up with Republicans and their single minded extreme approach to everything... but what returned me to being a democrat after 32 years as a republican is the looting by republicans, with democrats consent, of our public treasury to benefit republican cronies, hacks, and campaign donors! Look at what T-Secretary Paulson is DOING with the $700B "rescue package", giving $10B to his pals at his old firm of Goldman Sachs with virtually No limits or RESTRICTIONS. And what are his cronies doing with the $10B ? Surprise they are spending $6.85B on giving themselves "Bonuses and Retention Incentives", 68.5% of our taxpayer money coming in the front door for "stimulating & rescuing" Goldman Sachs is immediately going out the back door in the pockets of its triumphant execs & key employees because they are so indispensable the firm must buy their loyalty, fearful they may leave to go screw up another firm! Thanks Henry Paulson! and President Bush, what a departure salvo by your team to us taxpayers! Ditto for what is happening at Morgan Stanley, and I suspect will happen in most cases of banks and firms getting our tax money!
Let us all write and call our newly elected or re-elected representatives & senators and remind them we matter, our money matters, and we expect them to serve and to steward our tax money! And cooperate with the incoming administration, give it a chance to work to truly help our economy and our country!
NEWS FLASH PEOPLE: Bush did not start this whole housing mess; it was the Clinton admin that started it with Fanniemae and Freddiemac. Why are us Republicans being made out to be what were not. Get the facts start please.
Please tell us how that Clinton Admin started this mess with Fannie and Freddie. I am curious to see how well versed you are in the world of finance.
A almost fact actually appearing here. Bush and the republican controlled congress for the first 6 years put their arms around that policy. If they were so concerned they had the ability to change the policy in those first 6 years. So 1. They did not care. 2. They did not know 3. They had no clue. 4. They were crroked?
You won't have worry about jobs anymore. According to obammmmmmmmmmma, he's going to spread the wealth. So that means what little I have, he will try to take and give it to the bums who want handouts.
armygruntBob here responding to armygruntJoe: Sorry you came back for Bush...glad you have quit again. I am also sorry that you don't get what this Country needs to do to move forward but am so glad and grateful that enough of us did to make our voices heard loud and clear!
Congrats to Obama nation...now here is your new dilemna: for the past 8 years you blame everything on Bush(even having an ugly baby...itBush fault) or the Republicans; now you have the Democrats control the senate, congress and the presidency...who you and the liberal media going to blame now if everything get worse...remember the Carter administration, double digit inflation and recession and a laughingstock to the rest of the world for his policy of APPEASMENT, military was left to rot and promotions were frozen...actually worse 4 years than Bush 8 years...Obama almost have the same plan future policy like Carter...so who you and the liberal media going to blame the next 4 years?...adios family of cabrons
Cantor is an over ambitious loud mouth who will not help the GOP. We need people that can work together and Cantor is not the guy to do it. I have watched this guy give several interviews and he reminds me of a school yard bully.
You guys keep on blaming everything on Bush. Things didn't start to go to Hell untill the democrats took over the congress in 2006.
OMG! After I read this I laughed so hard I had to use my asthma inhaler. I think I know what demographic you belong to: the 25% who still think Bush is doing a good job. It's really very sad reading most of these pro republican posts. Most all of you are in such a state of denial it's scary.
Thats like saying the failed policies of Regan were ok until George Bush (41) took office to help identify those policies
I just have a few words to add here. I believe in low taxes, a smaller government, and a strong national defense. I just don't believe that Obama will do what he says. His voting record is too far to the left like the Move On.org crowd. The election was the result of the Republican base in Washington leaving its brand. They kept spending and spending! I feel that we had some poor choices for President this cycle. I hope for the best moving forward. Im a Independent voter in Los Angeles and I approve this message!
I am hopeful that Obama will be what he says he is and not what we know him to be. He talks a good talk now let's see if can walk the walk. To those misinformed, the housing mess started during the Clinton administration when his office insisted Fanniemae and Freddiemac make loans to those who were a credit risk so everyone can own a home. Owning a home is not a right, it is a hard earned privilege. I am all for giving people a helping hand, but not a hand out. When I see people using food stamps wearing designer clothes, carrying expense I-phones, driving new cars...I wonder why. I work, I have no designer clothes, I drive a car that is at least 15 years old and I have never considered that anyone owes me anything.
I hate seeing people with 5 or 6 kids all different fathers and taking money from the government every month. Birth control folks - get it free from Planned Parenthood. I hope people realize that Obama is not going to pay their house payment or their car payment. Socialism is not right! It is a Markcist belief. Obama needs to appoint some conversatives - republicans or democrats- and stay away from his radical friends. He is not what he appears to be, but I surely hope we can survive the next 4 years. By the way, Clinton passed the highest tax increase in history and Bush rolled it back. If you think you didn't get a tax break, wait until Obama lets the tax cut expire. It you raise capital gains taxes (we pay the 2nd highest in the world) you will not create jobs, companies will close and more people will lose their jobs. A friend of mine says her boss is already saying if capital gains taxes go up, he will close his doors. Also, companies who manage to stay will pass the increase on to consumers. Get real people. You can't be robin hood and take from the rich and give to the poor. Especially when 40% of that 95% Obama talks about don't pay taxes anyway. Also, it is wrong to say you are racist if you don't vote for Obama, actually you are racist if you voted for him because of his race. I vote for the man not the race.
Newnanite: Just curious if you voted for John McCain and he was prolife why are you suggesting that "people" go to Planned Parenthood? Isn't that like abortion? By putting people on birth control isn't that abortion and promoting fornication? Yeah, I can see how John McCain would have made this country better with someone like you supporting him. Clinton may have passed the highest tax increase but he also created the most jobs as a U.S. President in office. Let's look at what Bush did. He gave the biggest tax cuts and all the jobs went overseas. I will bet your future on that. The fat cats and ceo's all wanted their cake (got it) and wanted to eat it as well ( separtation packages averaging 14 million dollars). This is just the beginning and it just kept rolling downhill. Nobody makes you pay taxes anyway. It is up to each individual whether they want to pay them. The rich get around this through elections, well guess what this time they lost. Unless someone called you a racist because you didn't vote for Obama, then you are injecting your own biases by writing about it. Am I a racist for not voting for John McCain ? What if I didn't vote for John McCain because he had a woman on the ticket? No, I voted for the person that would best lead our country into a new tomorrow. He did attend one of the best ivy League schools that most of the rich people send their kids to. God Bless Us.
Mr Cantor needs to show much better leadership for Americans than his display during the vote on the bailout...he was a no idea Democrat basher. As Whip, he must earn consensus from Reps, Dems, Indeps and the populous as a whole.
Dear texansformccain08,
I too doubt any politician will live up to everything they promise. Obama will be no different that anyone else in that regard.
However, your comment on the Star Spangled Banner is not accurate. This is a long-running MYTH on the internet, and has been disproved many times. Let's all try to argue our point s with information that is REAL, not made up, OK?
Congrats
I really was not impressed with either candidate in this election. I used to be a die hard Republican, but now I'm unsure. I do agree that Bush's advisors helped destroy his administration more than he did. He was electable and behind the scenes, Cheney and his cronies laughed all the way to the bank. They got to accomplish what they set out to accomplish long before the 2000 & 2004 elections.
I'm not leaning to the left either. Watching Obama and Hillary go head to head was interesting on the campaign trail ( although the media sideshow was disgusting), but I don't really believe they will let bygones be bygones. Although I wish Mr. Obama well as president of our country, he is becoming the leader of this nation at a very thankless time. The economy is bad, we're in a very unpopular war, and the president really lacks the overall power to change either one. Now that the Democrats control both Congress and the White House it will be interesting to see what happens.
In the end, the president will shoulder the blame. One final thought: Did you know that the Congressional job approval rating was actually lower than President Bush's before the elections? I am very anxious to see what happens.
Richard Pryor had keen insight when he said "White people are so stupid"
I???m so fed up with our corrupt political system after breaking my back for years building my business and fighting from going bankrupt, a bunch of naïve Americans elect an even more naïve career politician, president. I and many of my business partners have decided to pack it in, I???m laying off 50 plus workers starting next month and retiring. No way in hell am I going to pay this numskull???s capital gains tax and run my business into the ground before I can cash out!
we right person lost this race.. it is soo sad. i dont think mccain was the best person for presidency but hes damn sure better then BHO. im all for a black president. but barack is not the right person. its NOT i repeat not because hes black. its for all of what he stands for! he said his self that if he could he would change our star spangled banner! he thinks its too violent? um excuse me mr obama sir.. TOO VIOLENT? "bombs bursting in air". thats what we stand for our star spangled banner is what america stands for its been around for decades.. who are you to change something like that or even try or even ATTEMPT.. or even to judge! hes a no body! who is the real barack hussein obama? you people who all voted for him are stupid but atleast i can say i didnt *** up america when we go downhill. barack made alot of promises... oh lord did he make some promises.. i thought the next thing he was gonna say was he found a cure for cancer i mean geeze..he can talk the talk just hope he can walk the walk. im all for barack if he does what he says and you know what maybe ill vote for him next time if he keeps his word. but thats never going to happen. he said his self in his acceptance speech.."this is going to take time.. fixing our country is not going to happen RIGHT away.. it is going to take a long time.. it may not even be in my president term but we are going to start working on it" ..but ohhhhh nooo barack.. didnt you say IMMEDIATE help is on the way.. and what about C-H-A-N-G-E? its coming you said.. ha yeah.. well see.
Dear Texansformccain08 -
While I can respect your opinion that Obama will not fulfill every promise he made (no politician ever does!), I must take issue on the Star Spangled Banner remark.
This is a long running FALSE accusation that has been circulated on the internet for a while now. That story is a complete fabrication.
Guess What! Now that obammmmma got in we are going to be saddled with all the losers that clinton had in his white house. He can't even be original with who to pick.
As for Eric Cantor, I wish him the best.
