There is no GOP! The party uses the evangical christians and the evangical church uses the party. This party does not address issues, it just attacks their opponents. The days of securing the evangical christians for votes is over. There is more to America than just them. They need to reestablish a platform and try to find a way to reach ALL Americans, Jesus said "my people will have no part of this world" it does not mean you can't vote but should refrain from entering or munipilating an agenda. Try praying and let God be GOd!!!
Well said ..!!! couldn't speak better.
GOP cares less about their political candidates selection, Education is bad word for "Republican" party but importantly must be the right breed to be scumb-bag liars.
47% of white registered voters voted for Obama and put him in office. As they stare adoringly at their new Messiah, he will turn his back on them and do exactly what he said he will do as he has the right hand and the left hand to help him. I guess you can call it the new Holy Trinity. It was all about making a black man president of the USA without thinking past his agenda, values and ideals.
While I believe everyone has a right to their opinion, I feel sadness for anyone who spends their time with perceptions such as yours. I can understand why there is evil in this world--ignorance of truth
Cantor Cantor Cantor Cantor. Already exhibiting the downfall of your party...hubris. The reason your party lost was because of vanity. They believed like you now that american is middle right. Its not. Its just middle. And you largely echo the sentiment of egotists like John Bolton who believe that the republican way is the only way and everyone else is wrong. I am suprised that newsweek is giving you so much credit. I think you will go down in flames.
I guess your guility of your own rage--that the democrats are the only way.

You couldn't be more wrong. One of the concrete ways to make things better is by voting your morals. Yes, you should pray, but you should also roll up your sleeves and try to affect things around you. After all, if you have faith, but do nothing about it, you are are just a lukewarm person. That's the opinion of Christians that get active politically. They see wrongs in the world, and they want to fix them, so they do it with action and votes. You are absolutely supposed to vote your faith. Jast as much as you are supposed to vote for your other values, be it social justice, welfare reform, or helping the poor, or saving the planet. Your argument that religion should go into a corner and stay there is basically that you want freedom from religion. Unfortunately for you, we won't be put into a corner since we were given freedom of religion by the Constitution. Why is that so hard to understand, and even harder to accept?
Cantor is not the only Republican that swam against the tide . Paul Ryan, Rep from Wisconsin, got two thirds of the vote in a heavily Democratic district, and in a state that gave 54% to Obama. He appeals to the working people even though big labor always endorses the Dems. I predict a big future for Ryan! Good luck to Obama. I hope that he can remember that 48% of Americans DIDN'T vote for him!!
Republicans who claim we are in for a heap of trouble need to wake up. We are already in trouble and it is a result of the last 8 years of Bush and Republican leadership. Face it. Don't blame it on the Clinton administration. If you saw a problem then you had 8 years to fix it and you did not. You made it worse. Do not project this mess on to the next administration. Wake up and face it. Bush and the Republicans are responsible for the mess we are in and it will take years of different and better policy to correct.
Obama and the Dems may or may not pull us out of this but it is clear that Bush and Reps got us in this. Face it, accept it and then go from there.
Now is the time to pull together and not point fingers. The country is in the worst shape any current genertion has seen. Pointing fingers at any single party says individuals are looking only through emotional eyes and not hard facts. The dems are just as much to blame as the Republicans - it so happened it came about while the Republicans were in office with a Democratic controlled congress. Neither party has watched out suficiently for their constituents and the whole lot should be replaced!

madonnaA, this is what I'm talking about, people who do not understand economic policy. No one wants to be given anything, but President Bush gave the advantage to the RICH. Welfare is for more than poor people, it's for rich people. I don't mind anyone being prosperous. You went against your own argument, if there is so much disposable income, then why are you struggling. Your words, not mine.
47% of white registered voters got Obama in the whitehouse. he will now turn his back on them as they adore him from afar with raptuous glows on their faces. Face it people, we are in a heap of trouble.
debbiewander, I agree about evil, but I never hear people preaching against racism. Why is that? God says, How can you love me, but you never loved your brother who you have seen. Hmm.... I'm just wondering why the "Christian" right never preaches against hatred, or false prophets (such as those who told their congregations that if they voted for Obama, they were not Christians), I just wanted to know your opinion on that.
The GOP does not need another white guy, the GOP needs to read its memo....PEOPLE OF COLOR can decide elections (Blacks, Hispanics, Cubans, Pakistan,etc.). Bobby Jindal is your best bet.
Obama's infuence already felt. The Repubs looking at his strategies, trying to find a way to duplicate in the future....
Might work, might not. My guess is it won't for Cantor.......it will take more than a few days after the election to get your feet back under you as a party, and your ultimate success story will come when it is ready, not by you trying to create it.
Hey Hopkins1952,
You've had more disposable income for the last 8 years under Bush and you still say "give me,give me.
more. more." That pathetic whininess and jealousy is exactly what has turned me off from the democratic party. I'm a single mother struggling to make it on a very low-end middle class income and I still don't have the dependence need or jealousy you seem to need. If you dislike those who work hard and can make money then why do you want so much of that evil pie???????
Let us wait and see if Cantor, or any GOP candidate shows real concern for anybody other than themselves. No moe will we be fooled by slight of hand tricks and remarks. Actions speak louder than words, and the poor and middle class are waiting to get their deserved share of the pie.

Is there a committee for "Lame Ways to Assess Blame for Our Failures" because he'd be a shoo-in for that position.
Cantor is not an out of the box thinker. Unfortunately, he learned from the old Republican ideological playbook,. Unless he changes his tune, he, too, won't go beyond being a US Senator. His whining during the country's bailout deliberations was pathetic. Millions of people lost money because of the delays in getting a bill passed through Congress.
Cantor is just the same kind of repug that is their base today. Smug, smartass and evil, will do anything and I mean anything to win. You watch, he'll eventually have a campaign down the line in the GOP for President. Maybe...Cantor would have a campaign just like McCain and Palin, full of rhetoric and lies, he's a little bitch boy. I bet he's a closet gay to boot just like the rest of the Grand Old perverts...
