How dare you all call Mrs. Obama names, etc. If Sen Obama were white, he would have won by a world breaking margin. Yes, some of us were worried that the likes of jesse jackson, rappers, and other "you owe me" people would "WIN". But, we put our country first, and trusted that Obama would address those types just as Bill Cosby has...What better role model for blacks???? A wonderful, educated, father, married, articulate, responsible man. p.s. How many of you hateful people are football and baseball fans?????????/
    Don't be a hypocrate.

Anyone who gets on a website and makes a racist comment should be shuttled into space and dropped out head first.

    • Posted By: I'm just sayin' @ 11/06/2008 3:51:31 PM

FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I may not like what someone says, but in this country they have a right to their opinion and a right to speak it.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 4:41:35 PM

And we have a right to ridicule your speech.

  • Posted By: debbie1234510 @ 11/06/2008 3:19:18 PM

I am a white american who is upset with our new president elect. First of all i am not racist. I have two beautiful kids in my family taht are half black. My problem is I am a christan and I believe in the whole bible. In case some of the christians that voted for obama dont know, thou shall not murder is one of our commandments. And same sex marriage----(sodom&gommorah)-- need i say more!!!! Everyone is worried about the almighty dollar!!! I dont know how you sleep at night, knowing you voted for him!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: tspriggs @ 11/06/2008 3:29:04 PM

I am a believer in the word of God as well and neither one better than the other "Thou shall not murder??" What about all the blood on President Bush's hands for this WAR!!!! And Obama DOES NOT believe in SAME SEX MARRIAGE!!!! ONLY THE RIGHT TO BENEFITS FOR THOSE FOLKS...... You might want to actually check your facts.

      • Posted By: WaitingfortheFuture @ 11/06/2008 3:54:11 PM

I am not critiquing your point here, but am merely curious. What is the difference between "believing" in gay marriage, and believing in extending marriage rights to those who are gay?

        • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 4:41:02 PM

It's semantics. The Cons are hung up on the definition of marriage. So, the compromise position is to provide civil unions that carry the same benefit of marriage without calling it marriage.

Personally, I think the solution ultimately will be to have civil unions on the legal side for everyone and let the individual churches decide on marriages within their organization.

    • Posted By: decemberchild @ 11/06/2008 3:41:27 PM

I can't understand why you call yourself a "christian" and say that you believe in the "whole bible". It case you forgot about Romans 14:13 "Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way. You must believe in the bible of convienence. Get your facts right. GOD IS COLORBLIND AND HE LOVES ALL, INCLUDING YOU.

    • Posted By: Nicola29 @ 11/06/2008 3:31:41 PM

Thou shall not kill is one of our commandments, and what the hell have we been doing since 2003, killing the wrong people. Get real

Regardless of who is President, we are all Americans and John McCain said it right when he said we have to put aside our partisianship and support our Country and its President. But it is discouraging that there is so much talk about race. We really do have issues when people want to be known as anything other than American - why are you all labelling yourselves? African-American, Native-American, Itallian-American... Either you are American or you are not! Quit with the PC labels, be simply an American and maybe race really will cease to be an issue.

    • Posted By: roxxy51 @ 11/06/2008 4:40:20 PM

comment to suzie... americans label themselves because that is just the way it is,, even, news people label, he is a black american or a cuban american and so on. it is sad because yes we are all americans but hopefuly someday the labeling will stop but i dont see it happining in my life time and it is a shame... but watch bill oriely and so on, they all label and even obama has labeled him self so sad but what can we do...

I'm really excited to hear all this talk about expanding national service opportunities and for bolstering existing programs. Bush talked a good game about expanding AmeriCorps, but he didn't back it up with much action at all (other than putting his own silly "Freedom Corps" stamp on it), and the budget actually decreased after he brought it up in his '02 State of the Union address (largely because he wouldn't stand up to the Republican-dominated Congress controlling things at the time). In the wake of 9/11 and the heightened awareness of civic engagement that followed, it was such a wasted opportunity. Here's hoping the next administration/Congress steps up to the plate and follows through with this.

First Lady-elect is worried about moving her daughters, as would any mother. It's time to overcome the anger and hatred that marred this election. We need to show the world that we are united, perhaps for the first time since WWII. Good luck, Mrs. Obama, and blessings to your children.

First of all I am appalled at the level of ignorance on this board. It's sad and disrespectful and it turns my stomach to read these comments. In the year 2008, in this great Country called America, people are still shamefully racist. I think there should be some kind of test before you get to cast your ballot you should have to write an essay on each candidate and answer 10 questions about them. Half the people on here don't even know why they voted for the way they did other than they refuse to vote a certain way because of what is on the outside. This is a chance for us to make up for an embarrassing 8 years where we have alienated half the World with our "Lame Duck" President's knee jerk reactions. Go get educated, learn how to spell and please, give Our new President and his family some respect. And, guess what if you don't like it, you can always leave the Country.

      Listen up Tom.....
For a start you are dead. You are also in Hell. You rewrote the Bible and cut out Genesis thru Malachi. Then you cut out Acts thru Revelation. Then you took the 4 Gospels and condensed them down to one. Then you cut out all references to virgin birth, resurrection and the divinity of Jesus. You were no Christian. YOU were a HEATHEN.
As far as moving to some other place SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE JACKASS.
BTW Tom, you also owned slaves and raped them in the wee hours (Sally Hemmings anyone?)
Get a clue Beavis before you try and sound educated......

People think that the grass is always greener on the other side!! Canada & Mexico are also struggling! If you were to get off your soapboxes & put that effort into creating a better solution for all then we would get somewhere! No matter who leads us we have our work cut out for us!!!

AFter reading all the comments that are negative, I must say that it comes down to one thing. Most american people are still prejudice!. And it's a shame that WE say that we are Americans and "God bless America" and all these things but yet we can't stop looking at the color of skin! And yet we expect God to bless this mess! How can this be that we can say we are free and not live in freedom! how can we stand by each other when we are so apart. It amazes me to see the kind of country that we hope that our children can live in with peace, dignity, pride is corrupted by what we put in them. How can't we expect change in America and we ourselves can't change our way of thinking or change from inside. President Elect Obama needs our support, America's support! We may not agree with everything he says but we have to learn to agree to disagree. No man is perfect! You can't expect him to be! We are examples to our children and it's up to us rather or not we are good or bad examples. Stop expecting failure! Expect positive change for America. Pray for him those who believe in prayer. Pray for yourselves to accept change! Are we going to ever look beyond COLOR?? You would think after all these years we should be ABOVE all this!

    OBAMA 08!

You speak about racist. In how many elections in the history of this country have you seen so many black people lined up to vote? The figures speak for themselves. Now, who can we call racist?

    • Posted By: Imreadyru @ 11/06/2008 4:16:55 PM

I'm Not prejudice. There has never been nor will there be a president that will keep and do what they say on the campaign road. They just want to get elected and we are so stupid to believe any of them. White or Black

      • Posted By: MCortinas @ 11/06/2008 4:22:08 PM

Speak for yourself? We have to work and do our part too! So if you don't believe in them then what are you complaining for?

  • Posted By: Toomuchtohandle @ 11/06/2008 4:36:44 PM

I am a white, female, American, that grew up with a very prejudice family. Not just for back people, but all colors of life other than white. I hated my child hood and the way my family treated other people. I joined the US Airf Frce, in 1972, when I was 18 and worked with all people of every color. I loved my Air Force life. I was amazed by how alike we all were, but treated differently. I still to this day, defend my fellow people that are treated differently and am so glad that Barack Obama won this election. I cried with joy, that this most intellegent man had won over our country with his wisdom and self assurance. He is a leader in every since and I think will change this whole world. The ways of American's that are prejudice, will hopfully stand tall for once in their lives and see how wrong they have been. That it is not the color of anyones skin that makes differences, but the wisdom and courage of their hearts. The belief that we can be the greatest country in this world once again. Having freedom for all American's, no matter there color, or race, or religion. I pray every day and night that Barack Obama and his family remain safe and show how we can all get along. I evolved out of something that my family was and so many others still are. I am possitive and will and grace, we all can overcome. Keep praying people that understand what I am saying. God Bless the Obama's, God put them on this earth to make things better. Give them a chance, support them and love them, as you do yourselves.

Welcome to out WHITE HOUSE. You will make the right choices for your family. You have GOD on your side to help and guide you. I can see that in the way your entire family treats evetone with respect. Thank you for all you have done and will do for OUR COUNTRY. I am so proud to say I am AMERICAN.

    • Posted By: I'm just sayin' @ 11/06/2008 3:56:05 PM

And you weren't proud before? So sad...

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 4:36:32 PM

When Bush was elected I wasn't proud. Who outside the 22% that support him would be?

  • Posted By: Myrivkah @ 11/06/2008 4:36:19 PM

First Lady-elect Mrs. Obama deserves our respect by sheer fact of her new role. More than that, she is a mother and wife, and of course it's going to be difficult to move in. All this anger and hatred needs to stop. If we want to gain respect with other nations, which we have lost in the last eight years, we need to support our President and Vice-President as best we can. And it's just mean and ignorant to include two young girls in the hatred that being spewed in this conversation.

  • Posted By: CodyRidder @ 11/06/2008 4:27:10 PM

I can not believe all of these ignorant people putting some of these comments on here. I am a "white boy" from Texas who personally thinks Barack is the right man for the job. To be honest, as long as he does what he claims he will do for our country (which I believe he will) I don't care if he is black, white, green, yellow, gay, straight, from Mars or likes to wears his wife???s dresses on the weekends. He is our president (thank god) and I don't feel it has anything to do with anything other then that. Give the man - judge a man on his character, not his color or hell even his past (not that he has a bad past, just making a point). After a couple of years and IF he turns out to be a bad president, it's because he still a man. There have been many bad presidents and they were all white. So let???s put the damn race card back in the deck and shuffle it.

  • Posted By: ahuman @ 11/06/2008 4:05:06 PM

Pinkadg .... I agree with you .. I too got sucked up in the crap that was going on. Hey we're all just human I guess ??? But Michelle is going to have her hands full, as being 1st Lady.

WOW !!! arkanboy you sure make your race proud, this seems to be the only way you ppl. express yourselves to what is inevitable change .fear, hate and bigotry ...don't you just feel real good hiding behind your racist comments without a face and for the record there are many many white people on welfare and you probably are one of them.love ya buddy cause at the end of the day he is your president too.. ha-ha !!!

I have to laugh at you Liberals. You keep saying that we are talking about race. WE are NOT. You and your Left Winged Media keep bringing it up. Peraonally, I don't care. To me he is White. II care about his Left leaning ideas and voting record. I have said a million times, this election is NOT about RACE. As Sting said in the song Russians. " I only hope the Russians love their Children too." I only hope this Country love theirs.
