By the way, one of the aricles somewhere on MSN says that Obama is the Next Reagan. Please we all know Ronald Reagan and Obama is NO Ronald Reagan. We can only hope he would be as GREAT as Reagan. Once again the Liberal Media slapping conservatives with crap like that. Obama will have to prove he is a great Leader.

    • Posted By: Candelion @ 11/06/2008 2:06:31 PM

Ronald Reagan was an actor who ACTED like a great leader.........

      • Posted By: Heartlover @ 11/06/2008 4:35:31 PM

Ronald Reagan was the best President this country ever had! Read a history book instead of the National Enquirer for a change.

I believe that intelligence has conquered ignorance and courage, fear in the election of Barack Obama. One thing that perplexes me, however, is the focus on the black side of his heritage, when he repeatedly told of his white mother and white grandmother as responsible for his upbringing. The audible discussion coming from news commentators and journalists seems to continue to focus on the color of his skin, although the man is as white as he is black -- in fact, more so, since his culture -- that of his mother and grandmother was white. The racial divide remains as long as people consistently overlook one-half of a man's heritage.

Then why, when black Americans were asked at the polls if race was a factor in voting for Obama, did they all respond YES. A white man responding the same way for McCain would have been labled a racist. We have a long way to go to relinquish prejudice on both sides.

  • Posted By: NO RACISM @ 11/06/2008 3:29:58 PM

Racist remarks should be kept to yourself. No one really cares to hear it. Unless you own a country designated just for you and yours, you may as well accept the fact that we have to live together in our communities, work together, shop together, go to school together, and vote together. It's all about unity, love and respect for yourselves and others.

    • Posted By: cbwillow @ 11/06/2008 3:43:14 PM

So for the next four years no matter what happens there should be no critisism. Anyone who dares to have an opinion other that that of The "god" is a racist.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 4:35:02 PM

No. Racists remarks are racist. If you criticize his policies and not bring race into it, that's a debate we're willing to have.

It seems you feel the only valid solution or view to anything is yours. Your do not have any right to decide what is right in my home or for my children! A differing opinion is the right to every American. Your threatenig tone only strenghtens my resolve that we are not entering an elitist time in our country. BY THE WAY I'M NOT MOVING ANY WHERE !! My ancestors where the original Americans

What a Crock! Are you delirious? We don't have kings & queens over here and don't want any. And then there is the fact that the "crazies" may elect him president, but a king or messiah, he is NOT.

  • Posted By: dragonfly20 @ 11/06/2008 2:26:12 PM

As a 51 year old white woman, I'm shocked at the level of racism in many of these comments. I am saddened that race seems to be such an issue. Mr. Obama is just a man trying to do a job. Does it really matter what color his skin is? Since when is America for whites only!

    • Posted By: BlackLikeMe @ 11/06/2008 2:35:09 PM

I have so much love for you and that comment dragonfly20. Very well put!

      • Posted By: smart1 @ 11/06/2008 2:56:13 PM

Dragonfly20 well said. people really need to look beyond their ignorance and start helping each other with the economy. After all we overspend and we are very wasteful, and very judgemental. Obama did not bring this country down in any way.

        • Posted By: dragonfly20 @ 11/06/2008 4:34:15 PM

Thanks for the poistive comments from Vanich, BlackLikeMe & Smarti. The Obama's didn't cause our country to get in the shape it's in. We can't expect them to fix it all on their own. It's time to put our bad feelings aside and start working together instead of against each other!

    • Posted By: Vanich @ 11/06/2008 2:47:03 PM

Love your comment!!!!!! The President and the First Lady is well-educated, rounded and grounded individuals and I truly believe he will take this country to another height of unity and prosperity. Remember, he has a big job of cleaning up of what Bush has done for past 8 yrs. Let's get together and help with the change.

People we need to realize that we are surrounding by racism, sexism, and etc... However, we should not use race anymore in this election. Obama represents USA and he is a DFL and we are ready for that CHANGE... Regardless who got the election, he is our next president and we need to support him and see if he will do what he promised. It doesn't mean he is black and all blacks should be happy. Black will still be black, whites and asian or latino will still be who they are. It is not like the law just passed yesterday where Black, Asian, and Latino can vote or run for President. Its 40 yrs ago, let get together and share the happiness and work as one nation. We should be focus on those whoever gonna destroy the US. Please grow up and be more educated... PEACE...

    • Posted By: wtwelchjr @ 11/06/2008 3:41:33 PM

Can someone help me out here? Obama is just as much white as he is black. Why in the world is he so intent on saying that he is the first "black" man to be elected to the office of President? He is neither black or white, he is bi-racial; but HE is the one who want to keep the racist card playing by calling himself black.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 4:33:45 PM

In America, if you look black, you are black. That's the reality.

Actually, people have been referring to him as the first African-American president. Since his father was literally African and his mother American, this an extremely fitting description.

      • Posted By: BC077 @ 11/06/2008 3:47:20 PM

I believe that was strategy to win votes.

      • Posted By: curlz83 @ 11/06/2008 3:45:59 PM

He's not rascist by identifying himself as a black man. He grew up in a different era and made his own personal choice. I am black and white and identify myself as both. Perhaps he identifies more with his black side. I guess you could say he is the first elected minority president, if you don't want to say black president.

dogman11: What a pathetic excuse of a human being you are. But then, I maybe giving you too much credit for being human. If you say: It was a joke...it was NOT FUNNY.

And I am a white woman, fyi.

I'M A JAMAICAN,I'VE NEVER BEEN TO AMERICA,BUT THIS IS TRUELY A MOMENTOUS TIME. AS I WATCHED PRES. OBAMA MAKE HIS SPEECH,I WAS OVERCOMED WITH PRIDE,HOPE AND A SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT. I WISH HIM THE GREATEST OF SUCCESSES. MANY ARE LOOKING FOR HIM TO FAIL,BUT GOD DOESN'T ABANDON HIS PEOPLE. MAY GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

You should move to Alaska, secede from the union and make Todd Palin your emperor. You can call it Conservastan. Racists like you don't belong in America. You are a dying breed, as the recent election has proven.

  • Posted By: why???now??? @ 11/06/2008 3:45:33 PM

The entire world is looking at the United states. They can read, too. Do those of you spewing hate really want to further tarnish our national iimage? Barack Obama will be our next president - he happens to be a Black man. There were more than 40 others before him that were White; is that why you voted for them? As a country, we need to pose a unified front to tackle the problems we're facing. Stop with the'bitter grapes".

    • Posted By: tjohn017 @ 11/06/2008 4:08:44 PM

Thank you for that comment. Oh my gosh I agree so much!

      • Posted By: TokenVirginChick @ 11/06/2008 4:32:43 PM

        I could not agree more.

    • Posted By: I'm just sayin' @ 11/06/2008 4:23:20 PM

The rest of the world saw the election numbers - it was no landslide victory. I believe the rest of the world admires our ability to vent our feelings and envies our FREEDOM OF SPEECH. We are free to say whatever we like. If someone doesn't like it, they are free to leave this site.

  • Posted By: MCortinas @ 11/06/2008 4:31:57 PM

    And again, I say....

AFter reading all the comments that are negative, I must say that it comes down to one thing. Most american people are still prejudice!. And it's a shame that WE say that we are Americans and "God bless America" and all these things but yet we can't stop looking at the color of skin! And yet we expect God to bless this mess! How can this be that we can say we are free and not live in freedom! how can we stand by each other when we are so apart. It amazes me to see the kind of country that we hope that our children can live in with peace, dignity, pride is corrupted by what we put in them. How can't we expect change in America and we ourselves can't change our way of thinking or change from inside. President Elect Obama needs our support, America's support! We may not agree with everything he says but we have to learn to agree to disagree. No man is perfect! You can't expect him to be! We are examples to our children and it's up to us rather or not we are good or bad examples. Stop expecting failure! Expect positive change for America. Pray for him those who believe in prayer. Pray for yourselves to accept change! Are we going to ever look beyond COLOR?? You would think after all these years we should be ABOVE all this!

    OBAMA 08!

  • Posted By: Chaelynn @ 11/06/2008 4:31:44 PM

I'm so happy that Obama won!!!! What really bothers me is that there are still so many people who are just down right hateful. We are all born into this world the same way. We are all born innocent. We are then taught to be prejudice, hateful, ignorant and all that other shameful stuff. My deepest hope is that the next generation and the next after that can learn to keep their children all innocent . Never teach hatetred, or that people are different because of their skin color. People are people and everyone deserves to be treated with respect. I love this country....I am proud to be an American but I get sick to my stomach when I meet people who are just down right hateful and hurtful. People please now is the time for us all to come together for the good of our country and the world. We should be roll models to the other countries. Be proud, be respectufl. But first of all teach goodness and kindness.

WOw, I have to applaud 'DapperDame' for finally saying it and saying it well! AMEN!!! you are so right and I so agree with your every word. Most of the poeple who whine, complain and get angry at the outcome of the election are usually the most ignorant about the issues! GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE. He earned this outcome just as any other candidate would. Drop the negative crap and move on. There is something to be said for positive thoughts, energy, etc. and maybe it's time to start sending some his way!
