Michelle, On The Move

I think America does see Obama's color: black. What America does not see in him are many of the elements of black culture. I am black, white and East Asian. Where ever I go people see me as black, even though my hair and eyes should undermine that assumption. Therefore, I identify as black. Unfortunately, we live in a society that rarely sees people for who they are, but instead for how they perceive them. Although that does not feel good, I know that all Americans can not get to know me, so assumptions rule.

I respect the office of the president and bush hasn't been "all that". Perhaps Obama will be better. I would just like to point out the obvious. Bush's years have been good to us from a financial perspective. The last year or two have not...that was when the dems took back the congress...Regan was great to all of us...that was the last great prez we had. He did it by being prez to all of us...not just white women, american indians, black men, etc. He was a prez for Americans and he set in motion a fantastic economy. Haven't had it since. Clinton put in the class warfare and the race warfare...or I should say, he encouraged it and brought it out. He didn't invent either, he just helped the dems bring it out on the table and perfect it as a "legit" way get votes...that as well as try to get as many folks as possible dependent on the govt. Folks, freedom doesn't come from gov't.

I am impressed with Michelle Obama's devotion to put her girls first. That actually says alot about her. The statements she made in this article gave us a glimse of her heart as a Mother. She wants to make sure her girls are settled, and transitioned before she focuses on anything else. I think that is so fantastic. A person in her position has got alot on her plate. Thank you Michelle for putting Family first!

Ytalley that was beautifully said. I too have bi-racial children and I couldn't be more proud of our country today. My husband is from Birminham, AL. He was born at a time when there were parts still segregated. We have always taught our three children they can do anything they set their minds too. We are both college graduates and we hope the same for our children.

This election has proved one thing; Americans are sick of the good ol' boy mentality of the white house and is ready for change. Obama has a backgroud that almost all of us can relate to in some way. We are fortunate to have such an intelligent, well-spoken man as our new President. He is a man of character and strength. I, for one, am thrilled!! For the ignorant, small-minded, racists who think because a man has black blood he is less of an American; less us remember the black race did not come here of their own accord, but were forced to in chains. However, inspite of this, slaves worked our fields, fought in our wars, and tried to love a country that clearly did not love them. It is not the black race that should "go back where they came from", this is their country too. Perhaps those who feel cheated by this should go back wherever their imigrant ancestors came from. I am proud to be an American. I am proud to live in a country where anything is a possilbilty if you work hard and believe. I am proud to support Barack Obama~my President.

We all have the right to say what is on our mind. But we need to give Media Elect President Obama a fair shake. Michelle and Barack are very intelligent people and they are highly educatied. We can only hope that is past of being a Left Winged Liberal is NOT what will be he's future or his legacy. Bill Clinton had a great opportunity as did George Bush to be great and they wasted their Presidencies. Let just hope Obama wont.

If even just a little tolerance is acheived during the time the Obamas are in the White House, that in and of itself would help pull our nation together tremendously. An entire race of people collectively finally felt true equality. Imagine living your life being treated inferior. This is a powerful and uplifting event filled with hope. Dare to dream people. Look at what is possible! If we work together ... TOGETHER .. just imagine the possibilities. This isn't about Barack and Michelle fixing everybody's problems. They are there to lead us so that we are involved as ONE NATION. That is amazing that this event has the power to accomplish this. . Don't be the problem - join in as part of the solution. We've seen what numbers can do ... United We Stand, Divided We Fall. STAND UP!!
