In reply to pgsmock...Unless you've been told no all of your life because of the color of your skin, never mind you've done everything else right, you have no clue or for that matter the right to be flippant about her remark. I understood what she meant when she said it and for the first time in my adult life, I too am proud to be an American and I'm not African-American.

Now that the reality of the Obamas becoming first family, and the subsequent move into the White House have set in, I wonder if Michelle is finally proud to be an American?

In fact, Obama is NOT black, not an Afro-American, he???s an ARAB-American! He???s 50% white (mother was 100%), 44% arab (father was 88%), and 6% black (father was 12%)! Does that sound like black to you? If he was 1% less white, and 1% Irish, in addition to being arabic and black, would you say that he was Irish? His father officially listed himself as arab, Obama???s full name is arabic. Even if Obama should be elected (God forbid), he will still not be the first ???black President???, because he isn???t BLACK! All this is is race-pandering, the democrats trying to get all the blacks to vote for Obama by declaring him to be the ???first black
candidate with a chance to be elected President!??? Basically, they are
lying to everybody to take advantage of the ignorant (not unusual for
democrats), and you???re buying it! If you don???t believe it, why don???t
you ask Obama to deny it in public?

This is the stupidest comment I have ever seen. It reminds me of the "McCain woman" who was lampooned on Saturday Night Live. Africans come in all colors in fact. I have a white South African friend. Americans come in all colors too. And anyway it was Obama's father (who he saw once in his lifetime) was Muslim, not Obama. WHO CARES if someone has Black or Arab or whatever racial makeup or is Muslim or Christian or Jewish or Hindi. No one is automatically a terrorist because of his race - that's Nazi talk! ANY of us who were born here - regardless of the race or religion - have a right run for the presidency. The point is that Obama is dark-skinned which means he is more susceptible to racism in this country, regardless of actual race. The fact that Obama was elected president is a point of pride to all Latinos, Arabs, Blacks, and other people of color (at least those who do not try to pass for white), and for all of us who are white that wants to see our country's (and our world's) legacy of racism end. But it DOES NOT end with this election. The most important thing about this victory is that Obama has to represent the needs of ALL Americans in his presidency, not just the rich ones. Otherwise he will be no different than Condoleeza or Clarence Thomas.

What? Obama had "experience"? This jvgallagher chap claims Obama had "several years of experience in the US senate". Dude, soon after he got into the senate, Obama has been busy running for president. That John Kerry guy deserves a kick for making Obama a keynote speaker at the 2004 Dem convention. Hearing the nice-sounding speech, many Clinton-haters, mostly ungrateful and treacherous Democrats like Ted Kennedy, began to urge Obama to run for president -- just on the basis of race (gurantess all black votes) and speeches (tricks the immature youth into voting).

  • Posted By: jvgallagher @ 11/26/2008 3:02:18 AM

It is unclear to me what jjb57 means by "I am amazed at blindness the Obamanites have toward their own racism." Is it racism because many of us saw the historical significance of electing a person of color to the presidency? I am a 66 year old white male. Obama did not do very well among people of my age and gender in the election. The first presidential vote I cast was for John Kennedy. With 7 years in the Illinois State Senate, and several years in the US Senate, Obama had more political experience than Kennedy. But Kennedy captured the excitemeny of millions of us because he was young, brilliant, and articulate. Obama has all of that. Once again we will have a president who is clearly the smartest person in the room in all of his meetings, foreign and domestic. Obama put together the largest and best organized political campaign in our history. His transition effort is being praised by all sides, and even the stock market is going up. Barack Obama may well become one of our greatest presidents. He has the intellect and the temperament. He is taking on massive problems. A collapsing ecomomy and two wars. These give him the opportunity for greatness. speaking as one old white guy, I fully expect him to be up to the challenge.

I am not sure what jjb57 means with the comment,"I am amazed at the blindness Obamaites have toward their own racism." I am a 66 year old white male. My gender and age group did not give Obama a lot of support in the election. However, it was apparent to me early own that what we had here was a brilliant young politician who had the ability to be the smartest person in the room in all of his dealings in office. I initially supported Hillary, but I did not want to see us all have to revist all of the partisan ugliness that would certainly be the center of the opposition against her. Obama is very much like Jack Kennedy, who was my first presidential vote. With seven years in the Illinois State Legislature, Obama has more political experience than Kennedy brough to the table. If you cannot see the historical significance of this country electing a Black person to the presidency you have shut dowm any sense of where we have been as a nation. I did not support Obama because he was Black, but that was a positive for me, Is that recism? I think not. It was an historical opportunity and, oh yes, Obama also happened to be the best candidate for the job. I think he has a chance to be one of our truly great presidents given all of the problems he will inherit when he takes office in January. Just watch. He organized the best campaign in our history and his transition effort is even bringing the stock market back.

      Yjames,
Wake up and smell the coffee! The only ones taking about Obama's skin color is the media and people like you. It's not his skin that half the country is scared about this man - it is what he's said, his associations and his policies. What do you mean by "give this man a chance"? Since when is the electionof the highest office in american political life supposed to be about giving every ethnic group a "chance" at the wheel. That is ludicrous (no - not the rapper). Even your Bible states clearly that a bishop is chosen on his credentials and PROVEN RECORD. The man has not been proven. What legislation has he signed? What program has he initiated? ??? What has the man done? He was elected by wild-eye euphoric "believer's" in hope. Hope was not defined by Obama, it is defined in the minds of his "believer's", We have yet to see what "change" Obama will do as president or for that matter anything at all with the power he's had in his short political career! This post in no way is a defence for John McCain. God knows the angst conservtives have against the republican party. I am just amazed at the blindness Obamaites have toward their own racism. "Judge not lest ye be judged"

All of the senior citizens feel left out and we are having a very hard time making things meet. Help from any government branch would give us more energy and respect for the government. Some Seniors have given the Government our lives in little ways we could. Respect and help us please. Miss Jackie

I believe her to be a lovely and gracious lady. Like it or not the Obamas are going to be a role model for families. A difficult task; however they are probably up to it. Sounds like they have their priorities in check.

From Sunday's Televised "Meet the Press" Senator Obama was asked about
his stance on the American Flag. Obama Explains National Anthem Stance

Sun, 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, General Bill Ginn' USAF (ret.) asked
Obama to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National
    Anthem is played.

The General also stated to the Senator that according to the United
    States Code,

Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national
anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform
are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand
over the heart. At the very least, "Stand and Face It"

Senator Obama Live on Sunday states, "As I've said about the flag pin, I
don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot
    of people in the world
to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem
itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air
and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less
bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If
that were our anthem, then I might salute it."We should consider to
reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better
offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to
disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren.
If we as a Nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the
nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails. Perhaps a state or period of
mutual concord between our governments. When I become President, I will
seek a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been
at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting
oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of
Islam an unfair injustice. My wife disrespects the Flag for many
personal reasons. Together she and I have attended several flag burning
ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have
mine". Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President
of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power
to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope.
My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family.
Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America.

For the first time in my 52 years...I am ashamed of America....look what we have done....we've elected a President who doesn't like our country and our values. He wants to us destroy our military..raise our taxes and the taxes of the very businesses who make this country run. What kind of a President would want to do that for OUR country. This is NOT the Democrats country..this country belongs to the people...and every decision made...should be up to the great people of our country...not up to some stupid politician who can't find his/her way out of cardboard box. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank and Obama..are going to further destroy what's left of our country, our military and our business sense. Democrats started this mess with electing Clinton....Bush tried to clean up most of it and he took damn good care of our country for the last 7 years. I'm very proud of Bush. He kept us safe. Obama wants to "talk" to people who are on mission to destroy us completely..Let's all sit around and have tea and cumpets and wait for this to happen. I for one don't want to share my wealth with anyone!!!! I worked long and hard to get where I am..how dare someone...who bought this election with illegal funds given to him..want to destroy anything!!!! that is good!!!!! God Bless America and most of the people in it....God knows for sure we're going to need all the help we can possibly get!!!!!

This election was a tragedy to the United States of America. Osama bin...I mean... Hussein Obama is planning to ally with a country that wants to wipe Israel from the face of the planet. I just don't understand how so many voters or should I say Americans can choose a man as president that isn't a patriot , that can't salute the American Flag and that can't even define what Evil is. On top of that when you look at his wife you should easily realize how retarded she is...I mean after she said she is NOW finally proud of America that goes to show how much respect she has for the blood that has been spilled on this soil for the freedoms that we have and the freedom that Obama takes advantage of....Guy wasn't even born here....hahaha...Actually he was born in Kenya. This is becoming a very sad situation for our country.
    I guess history repeats itself.

Israel wanted a king and kept asking and asking so God gave them Saul when it should of been David.

Get ready to be whooped by your petitions America.

He's backtracking already on the Iraq withdrawal issue. His lips are getting shut on the insanity of Bush's stimulus package, seeing as he is proposing to float more inflation himself -and he's gone stone deaf about Gitmo. His decision to go after the Taliban in Pakistan is now by hiring a group of Pakistani security advisors at $200k a piece to tell him to go after Kashmir instead, where there are no Taliban. He's writing love-notes to Iran and making midnight calls to Saudi Arabia already. The new consumer powers - China and India, he's totally ignored, plus the fact that Chna owns a lot of the US now, and India is our latest most expensive nuclear power handbag. He's dangling carrots before grandkid Georgia instead of calling on grandfather Russia, who really calls all the (gun)shots in that part of the world. HIs own grandmother died, and he didn't even care to say he wished she could have seen his victory in his dismissal (to his fans) speech that night. And he's conveniently forgotten his "beloved auntie Zeituni", who was a part of the $4 million in revenues from his audacious writing escapades, and who is now facing severe hunger poverty and deportation in some project housing in the US. What a wonderful man Obama seems to be. And what a wonderful way to spend America's money his wife and kids have found. A blank check is just that. What a wonderful way to describe you and me.

Sorry I did some mistakes on my spelling below so her it goes again in a better reading format!

Well if, " Blue in Arizona " and " Doc Howl " think you are so right and Obama's thinking is "wonderfull" so go ahead !!! Every thing I say it is from my heart and nothing is a LIE!!!! I will just tell you all,I'am not the one who is going against God !!!! You guys are defenders of those wrong things because you actullay are calling God ,your creator , a LIAR !!!! Thta' is so awfull !!!! Stop and think about it! !!! The fact Obama won for Presidency is a strong spiritual sign ( A Spiritual awakening !!! ) to me he did not came from God because he goes against God in many of the things he believes in. "Abortions, Gay marriages and whatever is going to come ahead of us....God want us to have Faith in what is Divine and not in Obama, like many are thinking.... is to make believers of the Holy spirit more strong than ever !!!! All those horrible things Obama believes in are all "man made" issues and is not something that comes from above. God is Perfection and Holy !!!! All what is happening right now is to try to destroy "WHAT IS HOLY" ( The Nature of the Beast) and unfortunetelly, most people can't see it !!!!! But the HIGHER POWER will show its POWER at the right time and will slash hard on all those who goes against what he created !!! Better saying: THE ONES WHO DO NOT FEAR GOD'S POWER !!!!

I'll keep praying for you "two" ,our Nation and for God to help and "open" Obama's heart to think twice about the wrong and unsensible things he believes IN !!!! Many people fell for his speeches because they were desperated for a change, but God has many other reasons to allow him to be our future President. Please think about it....I'am not God but God speaks through me sometimes.......Have a blessed day !!!!

    • Posted By: KTeegarden @ 11/15/2008 6:38:17 PM

I think you are being blinded by your God. Obama is not for Abortion or gay marriage. He has made that abundantly clear. He does believe that he does not have the right to dictate how others choose to live their lives and feels it actually goes against Christianity to do so. He also believes in a separation of church and state which is why he is opposed to having the government tell people what they do in their private lives. If God is perfection, then why do we have hatred and wars "in the name of God". You have every right to believe what you want but you have no right to say our government should dictate the way we all should believe. That's what your religion and beliefs are for. Leave government out of it.

Mr. Obama never impressed me and he learned how to speak well to impress people but it doesn't mean he is a good ADMINISTRATOR to run the country without a background of low experience !!! Is the same thing as hired a new person to perform tasks that they never did because of lack of experience. Before perform a job, that person will have to go under training first. In Obama's case I think his first 4 years will be for training purposes and if reelected , he will be able to do "something".He said at one of his speeches that ONE TERM might not be enough to do what he intend to do !!! I think he run for presidency for ambiction and not so much to the main purpose of helping the country. Personally ,I think he shows a lot of insensibity towards things that I think he could be a little more sensible about it. Like the death of his Grandmother and how he approaches Michelle. He seems to be a cold man and that "scares" me a bit. !!!! Mccain always show his love for this country and his experience and his devotion by being a ex combatent of war.

Vanessa2008. can you please stop murdering the english language. It hurts my eyes and ears to try and understand what you are saying and a lot of it doesn't make sense. I don't know if it was you or someone else who said Obama learned how to talk flowingly, but if you are someone who wants to imporve on their enounceation (?) and grammar and to educate yourself to communicate with others, then you go to school. Tell me what's wrong with that?

It amazes me how much hate people spew on these posts. And what is also amazing are the ones who profess to be so god fearing and god loving are the worse ones. If your god purposes so much hate, discrimination, zealousness, and spite, then I am glad I am not a beliver.

"worse ones"??????????? Consult Webster.....*worst (that's right) worst ones*

I guess you must have missed when Obama was crying on National Tv when his grandmother died. John Mccain is a good man for serving his country in the way he did, but being a war veteran myself, it would have scared me if he was President. The war would never end, because he is just PLAIN CRAZY!!!!!!!! and he cant help it. We need someone with a level mind. Once you've been to war, your mind is messed up for the rest of your life, and that's a fact. Ask anyone who has gone?

Are you serious? What President elect has any experience of being president. Yes, they may have experience of running other things or offices but not the office of president. Every president has to feel their way through the first year or so. President-elect Obama isn't ignorant to the fact that he is lacking in the experience department that is why he is surrounding himself with very experienced and compontent people. Every successful businessman surrounds himself with good people to help him oversee his business. Regardless of who won the election, it would take them more than 1 term to get us out of the mess we are in at this moment. You are not the only one that don't agree with him, so what. When Pres. Bush won, I didn't agree with him, so what. it didn't change anything, he is still the president of the united states. Your point is what. I didn't vote for Pres.-elect Obama because of skin color but because he stands for change. he represents all Americans not just a few.

Who cares if he impresses you? He's the president-elect. Deal with it.

Wow! You guys are still at it?!?!

MCain just got the beating of his life- worse than when he was in Hanoi!!!

Barack whipped the doo doo out of this old, decrepit, pale, diaper-wearing, fossil.

McCain voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1990, voted against the Equal Pay Act for Women, was the only head of state that voted against the MLK holiday, AND said that the Confederate Flag was "a symbol of heritage". His voting record is a CRYSTAL-clear picture of what his view for America has always been.

McCain, and everything he represents, is dying a slow and MEANINGFUL death. His humiliating defeat by the likes of Barack Hussein Obama is going to become more common and more definitive in shaping America's new history.

    • Posted By: Forty4 @ 11/11/2008 10:17:15 AM

Diaper wearing? Dieing a slow and MEANINGFUL death? Wow... vindictive. Your man won the election and you're still this angry and full of hate. Take a pill, it's over with.

      • Posted By: happy camper @ 11/14/2008 9:09:14 PM

kboogie HAS to be black!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/11/2008 3:30:31 PM

Not angry........just very excited!! The fall of McCain-type ideology in a huge, definitive blowout. How can anyone not be excited?!?! LOL!!!!!!! That's right, kiddo...it's just getting started.

Oh yeah, explain the "vindictive" thing. I'm not sure what I'm "vindictive" about. Thanks.

        • Posted By: Forty4 @ 11/11/2008 4:16:01 PM

Not vindictive? Whatever. "McCain is old, decrepit, pale, diaper wearing fossil"... and is "dying a slow, MEANINGFUL death." And you're just getting started? As "excited" as you are, you better hope McCain has a long life. It looks like you'll need him for a punching bag for long time.... lol

          • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/11/2008 5:28:14 PM

Forty4, the question I asked was, How am I being "vindictive", and what do I have to be "vindictive" about?

Maybe you mean to use another word, b/c "vindictiveness" is not appropriate in the context of my statements. Can you please explain your use of the term?

And yes, McCain and his voting record (which you haven't adressed) is a symbol/personification of an ideology that America once held, and is crumbling. YES!!! I'm very excited....as YOU should be.

Oh yeah, and why do I need McCain to live a long life?

            • Posted By: Forty4 @ 11/11/2008 6:51:48 PM

Websters: Vindictive: 'intended to cause anguish or hurt.' I understand hateful comments during the campaign. However, your candidate won the election, McCain made an excellent concession speech and has all but disappeared, and you're still calling him degrading names and telling everyone he's dying a slow, MEANINGFUL death... with caps no less. Vindictive, hateful, whatever. Do you hate the guy that much?

And I don't need to address McCain's voting issue, as that was not mentioned in my post. You may think his voting record justifies your comments, I do not. The "long life" comment was clearly explained.

              • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/11/2008 9:28:11 PM

Yes, I do hate McCain, everything he represents, his voting record, and anyone who shares his ideology. And, YES, his voting record DOES justify my comments, regardless of what YOU think. It's that ideology that enslaved a race of people. It's that ideology that denied woman equal rights. It's that ideology that has invoked, AND provoked centuries of hatred, violence, and shame on this nation.

Even though I do not "intend to cause him anguish or hurt", LOL!!!!!......i do take much comfort that his kind has been slowly, (and yes) dying a MEANINGFUL, DEFINITIVE, long-waited death.

Yes, I am very excited!! If you still don't get it, kiddo, we're wasting our time w/ this thread.

                • Posted By: Forty4 @ 11/11/2008 9:48:20 PM

I get that people have differences, but I'm not seething with hatred for them.

You really do need to take a pill, and I agree. We're wasting our time here.

                  • Posted By: Kboogie @ 11/11/2008 10:07:34 PM

Differences? Hahaha....you're kidding, right? Anyone who has the voting power to legislate racism or sexism, and wields such power to do so, is a hateful, evil, demonic individual. Especially in the recent wake of the Civil Rights and Women's Lib Movements. Yes, kiddo, are worthy to reap the same hatred in which they sowed.

                    Differences? You're cute.

                    We are certainly wasting time.

How old are you? Were you around when there was slavery or when women didn???t even have the right to vote? Are you even American? Has anyone in your family fought for this great country? How can you say those things about a man that served his country during a war, regardless of what his personal issues are? There is something to be said about a soldier that sacrifices themselves to serve a country. They don???t get to wake up in the comfort of there own bed every morning or be with there families. What is wrong with you? Listen if you haven???t realized it yet most politicians are liars, it always comes down to who is the lesser of the evils. Obama is no exception. He just herded cattle in better than McCain this time. You are going to be heart broken when he doesn???t deliver what he has promised.

I???m so sick and tired of hearing people talk about these issues as if they went through it themselves. Slavery is over, and we women have rights. Give me a break, everyone in this country has the opportunity to prosper!! This is a capitalist nation and for those of you that voted for Obama, I hope you all did not make the wrong decision. I have been working since I was 16 years old and I have been running my own business for the past 15 years; I for one want to keep capitalism alive. I am a minority and a women and no one will ever hold me back from what I want; that is my personal ambition.

You think that this country hasn???t offered you opportunities; move to the Middle East or better yet move to Africa and see how those poor women are treated; I don???t mean South Africa.

Good job on your campaign Ms. Sievers, it was obvious she did not take you seriously. Old ways must give way to the new. Your election is a reflection of young people taking charge and bringing about change in their immediate community (ies). She was relying on political apathy from your generation to win election. I trust that you will do well on the job and please do not stop there following your college days.
