WELL TO ALL YOU RACIST ***! THE PEOPLE GOT OBAMA IN OFFICE IT WAS NOT A BLACK THING OR A WHITE THING.IT WAS SIMPLY AMERICANS GETTING TIRED OF GETTING *** BY BUSH!

    • Posted By: laidylittlebit @ 11/06/2008 1:53:35 PM

Not true, but do you want a non patriotic Black man that does not even like the country he wants to be President of. Wonder what his plans are for destroying our country as we know it?

      • Posted By: canwegetalong @ 11/06/2008 3:55:05 PM

Did you ask that question to George Bush?

  • Posted By: kingmj @ 11/06/2008 2:43:03 PM

Wow, you are so wrong, but i guess you are entititled to your own opinion. It has nothing to do with race, everything Obama said and expressed were things that the american people wanted to hear. I myself am African, but never for once considered Obama because of his color, but rather his character. Furthermore, I originally backed Clinton for the Presidency candidate. Please do not spread such anomosity by claiming that Obama won solely on his race. That comment is insulting to all the hard work and achievements that Mr Obama has accomplished in the last few years. You seem to have a really backward way of thinking, and that's what will create unneccesary drama. If you want attention so much, say something worthy of a real conversation!

    • Posted By: SuzieReeve @ 11/06/2008 2:51:28 PM

If you are African how did you vote? Sometimes our own labels are racial! Either be an American or not. There is no such thing as an African-American, show me the Country or alliance of Africa-America. My ancestors were Senecca Indians and Dutch Traders. Am I a Dutch-American? Or Native American? NO I am an American and proud of it. STOP with th labels that are preventing racism from dying its natural death.

AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY, IT IS A CONTINIENT! DO YOU GET FOLLOW WHILE SHOPPING IN A STORE? DO A POLICE PULL YOU OVER TWICE A WEEK? IS YOUR EDUCATION SYSTEM THE BEST IN YOUR URBAN NEIGHBOORHOOD? I could go on and on, but I won't. This is just a few reasons why many people of color still have ISSUES. The President Elect Obama give hope back to many young kids of color .

I wish it was that simple to be regconized as only being American, America placed labels on non- whites
Until you are not seen by the color of your skin, most people will ask what is your nationality. TAKE NOTE! SKIN PIGMATATION make the majority white race fear blacks, latinos, and other etnic groups.

bojond, You should check your facts before you start using the McCain/Palin line that Obama wants to "spread the wealth". Obama wants to go back to the SAME tax percentages that were under Clinton before Bush came into office. For those making $250K or more, you would go back to the same tax percentages before Bush. 95% of Americans will receive a tax cut. You can't receive a tax cut if you don't pay taxes- right? However, you might see a tax benefit if you are paying some other form of taxes. I think it is so ironic that we are all for helping the big businesses, banks, etc. ($700B Bailout Plan) and that's not considered "spreading the wealth" or socialism. However, when we give tax breaks to hardworking ordinary Americans (not those who don't work; you can't give tax breaks to people who don't work) it's socialism. We are talking about tax breaks here. I'm not sure when tax breaks started being considered as socialism. Wow!

Ranceco you and your comments are ridiculous. The reason are country is the way it is, is because of remarks and thoughts like yours regarding skin and lips. Its not about skin and lips, its about choice no matter what color your skin is or the size of your lips. So a black man is President thats great, guess what the white man elected him. So that tells me our country is ready to make the next move in the evolution of our country in a positive manner. So enough with your shallow thinking and step up and be apart of our country, not the white mans country or the black mans country or the hispanic mans country, IT'S OUR COUNTRY, try being a positive in OUR COUNTRY you might like the change.

And by the way, I didn't vote for Obama, but he is a damn good man and I think will do a great job for us the people, he is our President. He is not our black president or our white president or our hispanic president, HE IS OUR PRESIDENT. If you listen as a person,(not a black, white or hispanic person) but as a person you will learn and come to find out your community will be a much better place.

There is no more racism in this country, a black man became president. Lets all move forward together and quit talking and individual races and talk as people within one race. The American Race

"There is no more racism in this country"

Um....please read some of the posts on this blog for direct refutation of your suggestion.

To chris5209, you know how much republicans have complained about Obamas huge economic resources for this campaing and especulate about the origin of those resources?.. Well, it's true, Obama had a lot of money from contributions for his campain, but there is actually 2 people who contribute with Obama's campain the most, and they didn't even give any money.. Their names: George W Bush and Dick Cheney....

That is too funny! You are right for that one. I can't stop laughing!!!!!

If race had so little to do with this election why a) do so many blacks say race had so little to do w th it /deny the racial component and b) why do so many whites immediately ID themselves as white then offer up, almost as a throw away tangent, that they voted Obama and finally c) why is this an "historic" election since all elections have historic elements with the "history" here being simply that a black man was elected, meaning then race was indeed THE defining factor for without race what, exactly, would make this election "historric" ? Let's drop the hypocritical melodrama here.

    • Posted By: Doc Howl @ 11/06/2008 3:53:20 PM

So you're saying that race had everything to do with it because Blacks say it had nothing to do with it?

  • Posted By: Kdaitken @ 11/06/2008 3:53:15 PM

Isn't this great. Even if we don't all agree....we now have a future. The past is for learning and the present is for US. Why can't we all just love one another...YO OBAMA....It's about time that the people's vote counted and Florida didn't get to decide what the rest of us wanted.

It's hard to believe that a racist woman such as michelle obama will be helping run a country that has a majority of whites. Maybe people don't want to remember her racist comments or just choose to ignore them. If Cindy McCain had said white america will come to their senses there would have been hell to pay. But michelle obama had no problem saying that blacks in america will come to their senses with no eprisals what-so-ever. That woman is a staunch racist who I believe will do whatever she can to harm white america and lower the white standard of living with disregard of how it will affect blacks. White america has done well getting past racism. To bad the blacks can't and won't do the same. Now we'll see just how much love blacks will give whites for helping get a black man the presidency. Read this aritcle titled "DO NOT start thanking WHITES for our Obama victory! Obama received the most support from women, blacks, Hispanics!" link http://boards.msn.com/MSNBCboards/thread.aspx?threadid=838441

    • Posted By: Nicola29 @ 11/06/2008 3:52:22 PM

And once again, another idiot who thinks blacks are the majority

    • Posted By: SmartAmerican1976 @ 11/06/2008 3:17:09 PM

Really? Whites have gone past racism. Get your head out of your rear end. How can the group that benefits the most from its perpetuance get past it? Never mind. Don't answer that. The answer requires a thought.

      • Posted By: senky @ 11/06/2008 3:38:50 PM

SORRY to disappoint you, but Whites did not give Obama his victory. He worked hard and earned it. I know this must be disheartening for you, but black people do not need you to give us anything anymore. We are educated, successfully and we will just keep prospering. SO GET OVER IT. You are just upset that Michelle is the an educated, graceful and Strong Black Woman. But than again, why am I replying to ignorance...your comments are irrelevant...PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA AND FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA....YEAH ...

  • Posted By: rjones @ 11/05/2008 8:54:07 PM

I believe Michelle Obama will make a classy First Lady. Good luck to her and her family in DC.

    • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 11/05/2008 9:26:55 PM

      Very nice!

      • Posted By: katashley @ 11/06/2008 3:52:01 PM

I agree! Not only is she classy, but she is an intelligent, thoughtful, caring woman as well.
Also, to those who are bitter for "losing" this political race: what happened happened. It is now your duty as American citizens to support the president as the president. You may not agree with what he has to say, or what he plans to do, (I sure don't about a number of things) but he has a lot of courage, and it seems that his heart is in the right place. What is more GOOD than wanting to help the poor and needy? Is America so corrupt that a good portion of the people think the rich ought to be rewarded (to make them even richer because they "boost" the economy) while those who are struggling to make it by work hard and are taxed a greater percentage, etc? I think it is good that we finally will have a president who cares about the common man, not just his own interests or his financial backers.

  • Posted By: nannyk @ 11/06/2008 3:27:58 PM

I see a lot of jealousy and racism in these comments. Michelle will be a very good first lady. By the way, I took it as when she said that she was ashamed of America, I think she was meaning narrow-minded Americans that are still living 125 years ago. It's time to wake up, we are all created equal. Any Christian or anyone that believes in a "higher power" knows that we are not all the same color, race, or think the same. If those people think, because they are white, they are better or superior to anyone else they should go back to the country or their origin. They wouldn't like it there either. We should give back to the Native Americans what they deserve and all leave this country if we can't pull together for the good of it all. nannyg

    • Posted By: SuzieReeve @ 11/06/2008 3:38:57 PM

I am of Native American decent - but I don't want the Country back... I wasn't alive when it was ours - so like any conquered people we've adjusted to our NEW Country. I am and have always been an American. You on the other hand are propogating racism with your distinctions. Give it up, be an American or leave it.

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 11/06/2008 3:51:24 PM

We are, and always have been multicultural. America is strengthened by its diversity and should celebrate it, not demand conformity.

  • Posted By: JoyceM7785 @ 11/06/2008 3:50:55 PM

Let me help you out. President-Elect Obama is defining his race based on America's definition of race. I'm sure you know that historically those who were of "mixed" races were considered "Negro" "Black" or "African-American." The term "mixed" is relatively new and one coined by those who are acknowledging their "mixed" or bi-racial parentage. No one will ever look at him and say he is a white man. He can actually legitimately claim the term "African-American" based on his parentage.

I have read most of the comments, most do not make any sense to me at all. It seems as though people are just looking for it to come down to racism, when I dont think alot of the posts are about race or color. I did not vote for obama either, but I am definatley up for change and look forward to what he has to offer. I feel that he is a very intelligent person and will not make this about race. However, I do feel that the "people" will make it all about race and color. It is a shame that we have to keep going back to that. Let the man revel in his victory, give him a chance.

  • Posted By: UptownGirl27 @ 11/06/2008 3:50:27 PM

Also think about it. How many times have you turned ont he TV and someone is mentioning Obama's race. You cannot put the blame on Obama. The Media has been doing this since the beginning of the election. And if you have been watching the news you would know this.

  • Posted By: arkanboy @ 11/06/2008 3:49:53 PM

Yes! Thank goodness we can all be united now. Nothing will seperate us and we will all be so excited to do the good works of Obama! Thank God for his election. I can't wait for the goodies he will giving out to all of us. oops, I guess I just realized I won't be one of those because I work! Oh well, thank God that I'm not selfish and will be looking forward to "giving" my good hard earned cash to a government that will decide who and where it goes and welfare programs that have such fantastic track records of success. Like for instance the "growth" of the American Family from the nuclear family it was in MLK's day to what it has become today. Of course I suppose the other good thing will be folks like me who don't really won't to "give" to this won't have to worry too long, because with all the "bad" and "evil" corporations needing to be shut down, there won't be any jobs, so I will be able to join the ranks of those who don't work and we can all be miserably happy together.

Fortunately, I don't really think this will happen; however, it certainly could be possible if Lord Barack has his way! Pray that he won't and he will just be able to sit there and smile the next four years away!
