The media is more intent on caling Barack the first "black" man, not Obama.

Besides, if someone were to pass Obama on the streets they would distinguish him "black", or "African-American".

Also, when there's uneducated Americans not voting for Obama because his skin is black, I think he would have every right to use the racist card, which he hasn't even done anyway. Barack is BOTH black and white.

To answer your question wtwelchjr. Yes I agree with you that he is biracial not just black and not just white. But reality is even if he identified himself more as white. Int he eyes of the populace he is and will always been seen as a black man. That is the reality. The same has happened to those with biracial backgrounds. I know quite a few people who despite being biracial socirty insists on branding them as black. If you were a person of color I think you would understand this a lot better than you do. A lot of people of color go through this. If you were just walking down the street and are a biracial individual most people do not see that. They will see the black person first. And that is the truth.

Hey Michelle and Barack:

Don't forget about us who serve the community but not in Americorps---those of us who work in the public sector because we love community service but don't make as much as we would in the corporate sector and can't pay our student loans. Serving the lower middle class and the middle class who serve others (including facilitating their children's survival) is helping society. Remember the lawyers, case managers, public works personnel and other public workers....how about a public service tax credit? We are always making too much to be considered for relief but too little to survive.

I have read each comment as well. First of all the comment posted by sunshine does not make any sense to me at all. What or who are you talking about?? The second comment does not make sense at all either.. maybe I am just not getting it, however, I dont feel like either of those comments are about race???

Yes! Thank goodness we can all be united now. Nothing will seperate us and we will all be so excited to do the good works of Obama! Thank God for his election. I can't wait for the goodies he will giving out to all of us. oops, I guess I just realized I won't be one of those because I work! Oh well, thank God that I'm not selfish and will be looking forward to "giving" my good hard earned cash to a government that will decide who and where it goes and welfare programs that have such fantastic track records of success. Like for instance the "growth" of the African American Family from a mom/dad children unit to todays "family". Of course I suppose the other good thing will be folks like me who don't really won't to "give" to this won't have to worry too long, because with all the "bad" and "evil" corporations needing to be shut down, there won't be any jobs, so I will be able to join the ranks of those who don't work and we can all be miserably happy together.

Fortunately, I don't really think this will happen; however, it certainly could be possible if Lord Barack has his way! Pray that he won't and he will just be able to sit there and smile the next four years away!

Hmmm..... Everyone keeps saying that this isn't about race and all I've read are comments about it being or not being about race. If it's not about race then stop replying to people that are trying to make it about race. You're only fanning the flames of their stupidity by even responding to their post in the first place. But I think is show on a subconscious level that it may be more about race than most people are willing to admit. I'm sure that there are millions of people all over the country that didn't vote for Obama just because he is black, and I'm sure there is and equal number of people that voted for him just because he is black. Those are the unfortunate people that have lost sight of the problems facing this country and what needs to be done to fix them. We spend entirely too much money as a country importing goods from other countries that can be made or grown here. We as a country give entirely too much money to foreign countries that would be better spent on issues in this country. And yes I feel bad fro the starving and neglected people in other countries. but I feel just as bad for the starving and neglected people in this country. Maybe it's time for some of those other countries to stand up and be accountable for the issues in their country and do something about it instead of just relying on the US to bail them out. Maybe it's time for our overly wealthy celebrities to adopt a few poor unfortunate children in their own country instead of one from another country. Our government and wealthy citizens have for so long be concerned and involved in fixing problems with other third world countries that they have come close to turning the US into a third world country itself. Yes it's time for change. It's time to bring our troops home. I support them 100% but I do not support what they were sent there for. They're fighting Bush's oil war. They're not dying everyday to protect me and my family, I don't live in Iraq, I live here. They're dying everyday because of the greed of our politicians and government. Which is why those countries hat us to begin with. Bush always had to have his hand in someone else's oil barrel. Yes they attacked us on 9/11 and alot of innocent people paid the price for what our current president and government chose to do, but no one short of maybe China would have the guts to outright launch an attack on this country. If that ever happens then our troops will be fighting to protect us, just too bad they're fighting now to protect someone's oil empire. One of these days maybe people will wake up and realize that it doesn't matter what color you are, there's buttheads that come in many colors, shapes and languages.

The vitriol being spewed here is truly appalling. The atrocious grammar, misspelled words and lack of correct capitalization are disturbing examples of the fact that our education system has done a dismal job. How can anyone question the Obama's on family and the abortion issue? They have a adorable family and believe strongly that family comes first.
