    I was proud to see how far America has come on Nov 4th - Many voted for a man who happens to be black. All that hope is lost in many of the comments I read here, how did reading about Michelle Obama's move and her hopes bring out such hatred? The finger pointing on who is racist and not breaks my heart. The truth is Black and White people ALIKE can be and are racist, so the question is what are you doing as an individual to make this world a better place? How will President elect Obama fair in the white house? We do not know! We criticize President Bush because of the mess he has created, lets wait and see what Obama does then talk. I think it's time all Americans saw themselves as Americans! Why do you feel the need to label yourself African/Cuban/Italian etc American? Your great great Grandparents were born and raised in America yes your family tree may have started in another continent but the truth is you are just plain good old American! Embrace it people and move forward - don't get me wrong it's good to know your history but you cannot let it define who you are. Peace, Love and Happiness - remember to be kind to each other

    I assume you mean to contrast "MAN" to "BOY", rather than "WOMAN". I am thrilled to have an intelligent, discerning person as president-elect. However, I am waiting for the day when a female body represents the hopes and possibilities for our GIRLS. Then we can speak of possibility, rather than a step toward it.

    A comment ...Please get a grip on reality and stop blaming Obama for all of America's trouble. This may not be the perfect country. However, The USA is by far the BEST country that offers many freedoms. Be grateful for what we have because in other parts of the world, people are not as lucky. Throw out the hatrid and negativity. Give Obama your support just like any other former president. GOD WILL CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA!!!

    I have read each comment and it really is sad that it has become a black issue. I did not vote for Obama but I will respect who the American people have voted in. I also will pray for my country and for the President Obama and his family. Thank God I was raised that it does not matter what color you are blood is blood same color. Our country does need a change, as my dear Mother always said "proof is in the pudding".

As for Michelle saying that she was not proud of America I belieive she was reflecting upon the hatred and racism that still exist after all these years instead of the opportunities. I have to agree with her. I lived in a foreign land as a "minority" and believe me, although there wasn't the outright hatred, you could definitely feel the undercurrents of not being liked and wished that you would just go away. It's about time America truly became UNITED! nannk

Besides we represented 13% of the vote, caucasians respresented what...85% and half of them voted for President Obama, so I guess they are expecting some free *** too hunh?     First off, I want to say that I voted for McCain and would again if I could turn back time. When Obama won the election, I was very saddened, deeply sad. McCain / Palin gave me so much hope for the future. But they didn't win, and I agree with many of the comments here that, Obama did win. This fact won't change. And as a good American, we should support out President. We don't have to like him, but as a country, we need to stick together to oppose all those that hate Americans and would hurt them. While it will take me more time to come to terms with our new President, I do hope with all my heart, that he will help and protect this great nation and all the living creatures that inhabit it. I will also pray for others that are facing the same difficulty as I am- coming to terms with a President that we didn't intially ask for, but are now committed as citizens of the country, to support. President Obama, if you read this, please live up to all that you promised and protect us as our leader. Be moral and good, truthful and strong- I need this from you in order to be loyal to you.

But then again, considering how excited you guys got about Palin, it seems you like your candidates a little more on the "doophus" side. Even the Republican intellectuals came out and said what a dim bulb she was. We Democrats can't help it...we like SMART people.

    Black,white,latino,asian, It does not mean we can not work together! I am married. I love my wife and she is white and I am hispanic. My kids are going to learn all about life and the history of the american people. I don't ever want to hate others because of skin. They will learn from my wife and I to do the same. People here that keep talking about blacks, you are the problem in this country. This is what we have to keep listening too, watching it in the news everyday, reading it in the paper. Stop it already! Hope is there for all of us. Just keep faith in our new elect and hope we all can just be one team. Mccain would of wanted all of us to the same if he was elected. Just ask him!

    I don' t understand how it is, that the only thing being discussed is the race of the president and his family. The truth of the matter is, we should be focusing on things that really matter:
    1. The education of our children.
    2. The economy
    3. Bringing home our soldiers.
    ECT....................... The list is very long.
    I am so tired of all of the B.S. having to do with race. The fact remains that in periods of time, white people owned slaves, African kings sold these people into slavery, and so on and so fourth.... That is history. I doubt that very few people from that era in time are still alive. The African American people in this country are Americans, so are the whites, chinese, indian.... if you live in America and believe in the values of one nation under God, and freedom than you are an American. I proudly served our country in the US NAVY during Desert Storm, and alot of my family served in previous wars, when will we learn that ignorance is not bliss, only ignorance. What Michelle decides to wear or how she dances on the Ellen show is not important. The things that she does for the country will be. I did not vote for Obama not because he was black, but because I think he lacked the experience to do what needs to be done for this country. I hope with everything in me that he proves me wrong. I wish him and his family the best and hope for the countries sake that he is able to step up and make the changes that need to be made. People please stop discussing race and start discussing things that are important until race is no longer an issue this country will never be truely free.

      Well, there you have it...except that most "Americans" from other countries don't believe in "one nation under God". I don't know what Obama believes...so many rumors ran rapid during the campaign, it left heads spinning. However, I'm hoping and praying that he's true to his word to us as a country. Because if any of the "rumors" that were spreading come to light as truth, we're in some serious trouble. I hope for our sakes that they don't. And yes, as you've probably guessed, I voted for McCain. But...this is how I see it. All politicians scratch eachothers backs to get what each really wants to see happen. It's all trades and bargains. So I really don't think it truely matters who is in office. I also have an opinion about all the people that keep harping on Bush....he did well...with what he had to work with. Granted, in the last two years he hasn't accomplished much, however, Congress and House were made up of mostly democrats....so nothing was passed for him. People seem to forget that he lowered taxes, etc. Just remember the bad. Very closed minded. As for the Iraq war...in war, no one wins. And it's shameful to think otherwise. But you know what? That should have been taken care of when his father was in office!

    For the first time in my 52 years...I am ashamed of America....look what we have done....we've elected a President who doesn't like our country and our values. He wants to us destroy our military..raise our taxes and the taxes of the very businesses who make this country run. What kind of a President would want to do that for OUR country. This is NOT the Democrats country..this country belongs to the people...and every decision made...should be up to the great people of our country...not up to some stupid politician who can't find his/her way out of cardboard box. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank and Obama..are going to further destroy what's left of our country, our military and our business sense. Democrats started this mess with electing Clinton....Bush tried to clean up most of it and he took damn good care of our country for the last 7 years. I'm very proud of Bush. He kept us safe. Obama wants to "talk" to people who are on mission to destroy us completely..Let's all sit around and have tea and cumpets and wait for this to happen. I for one don't want to share my wealth with anyone!!!! I worked long and hard to get where I am..how dare someone...who bought this election with illegal funds given to him..want to destroy anything!!!! that is good!!!!! God Bless America and most of the people in it....God knows for sure we're going to need all the help we can possibly get!!!!!

Frankly, I have akways said that blacks should never marry whites because the madness that comes from inbreeding will spread to their off spring and we hear the madness spewing from the fanatical lips of these racist white republicans. Maybe these next four years will make the people of this nation turn towards something more solid than politics, like God. He'll be the only one to get us out of this mess! You're absolutely right about Bush though. Ignorant people don't even realize what he had to clean up from the Clinton Administration, who was also a Democrat! I'm an avid Bush supporter. At least he had morals, values, and a conservative background. Bush did a tremendous job for the circumstances he faced during his presidency. Obama doesn't even stand up to salute our American flag, and we elected him President! Gay rights/marriage, abortion, taking God out of our nation, and expecting free hand outs ARE NOT RIGHT!!!!       If you are ashamed to be an american then I truly feel sorry for you. It seems to me that you are very Narrow minded, deeply disturbed to feel as though someone is out to get what you have & to fling all the accusations you have. Almost everone can see some good you can't clear the hate from your heart long enough to see anything reasonably. Hopefully with the new healthcare reform you will be able to get some counsling to help you see good.
      Bush took care of the good old boy network, Cheney & himself. He does not & never has cared about anyone else especially not you nor I. He could care less about the men & women that have laid down thier lives to defend this country. The major reason the war in Iraq was launched was to vindicate his father.
      Talk about growing up, thank God we now will have quite possibly the BEST PRESIDENT WE HAVE EVER HAD as he knows what life is like with hardship & he listens and has proven that.

        I heard on CNN today that the secret service captured someone trying to go over the wall at the White House. They caught the guy and apparently said "President Bush - stop - you have two more months to serve!"

      In what country do you live that you feel that Bush took good care of this country? He took good care of his and Chaney's pockets. More people are jobless, he's not. More people are homeless, he's not. People's children, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters are off fighting a war and being killed; his family is home. The economy is at it's lowest point and you can sit there and state that BUSH took good care of this country. That's one heck of a dream world you are living in.       Maybe you should leave if you are ashamed of your country. In the words of John McCain, "our President Barack Obama" now deserves our support. If you cannot do so, you need to make the decision to leave our diverse country. If you choose not to leave, you may wish to consider pursuing an education.
